Connect to host on same computer

Hi all, I have a small server app that opens a TCP socket on listens for a connection from my flash project, but if I try to connect using Socket("localhost",[port]) I get a 2031 Socket Error. I haven't worked with the networking in flash so I am pretty lost about how to over come this problem.
Thanks

queshaw, Welcome to the discussion area!
It sounds like you currently have the AirPort Express (AX) configured to "share a single IP address". This creates a subnet for your Mac and the other computers can not directly address your Mac.
You need to configure the AX to act as a bridge (not sharing a single IP address).

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the same shared folder can be accessed by name, but can’t be accessed be IP address and asks for credentials.
Please try to enable the option below on the device which has shared folder:
Besides, check the Advanced Shring settings of shared folder and confrim that if there is any limitation settings.
    Best Regards,

  • Firefox has suddenly stopped connecting on one of three user accounts on the same computer. That account still connects with Safari - but not Firefox. A clean-install has not solved the problem. Help?

Three user accounts on the same computer all link to a single copy of Firefox 3.6.8 - but one of them has suddenly lost its ability to use the program. Firefox opens in that account, but it cannot connect to the Internet. 'Done' appears at the lower left of a blank Firefox page [it's set to load a blank page initially], as though a page had finished downloading ... but Firefox does not actually generate any Internet activityx.
Previously, the Firefox connection for this account was smooth and reliable. I haven't added, upgraded or downloaded any new programs, nor made any other computer changes in recent weeks or months.
Puzzlingly - that same account still connects successfully to the Internet via Safari. And the other accounts on the same computer continue to use Firefox with no problem - including a test user-account that I set up today to help troubleshoot the problem. The blockage is restricted solely to Firefox with that one user account.
Following your Support page instructions, I did a clean-install of Firefox 3.6.8, removing both the existing Firefox 3.6.8 and the Library/Application Support/Firefox folder. Going the extra mile, I checked all accounts to be certain that no Firefox folders remained in any of them - then emptied the Trash and restarted before installing a freshly downloaded 3.6.8. But blimey - the blockage still persists for that one user account.
Firefox shows no visible cookies that might influence the connection. [It's set to delete all cookies upon closing anyway.] And I see no obvious instructions in Mac's firewall or any software program to refuse access to Firefox. The computer is stand-alone, not networked. And in any case, Firefox works just fine in the two other user accounts.
Deleting the hobbled user account is not feasible. So what is causing this roadblock? Did I miss a step in the clean-install? How can that account resume using Firefox?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
You can also delete active-update.xml and possibly updates.xml (stores the update history).

  • How many USB-8472s can I connect to the same computer

I have an application that would require connecting 4 USB-CAN devices to the same computer and control them all through LabWindows.  Does the driver facilitate this, or is it a one-at-a-time deal?

No, you can have as many USB CAN devices as you can plug in to your PC. If you use a Hub, don't forget to add a power supply.

  • Connecting multiple DAQs into the same computer

    Hi,
Im working in a project where i wil need to connect more than 300 digital signs with a USB port.
I was looking for options, and found two that i liked, but i dont know if LabView will have troubles reading all the signs from different DAQs.
My first option is the USB-6501 (with 24 digital I/O), where Ill start doing the config, but if it works for what im looking for, i was expecting to repeat the same config in a total of 13 DAQs
My second option was, the High-Density Industrial I/O for USB (96 channels digital), and have in total 3 DAQs with an extra of the USB-6501 to complete my set of signals.
Can I connect more than one DAQs into the same computer? Meaning that all the DAQs will be working into the same LabView app?
    Regards,

Those modules are static DIO, so the bandwidth of the USB shouldn't be an issue.  As nyc mentioned, you might run into problems with the current draw on your USB port.  Definitely get an independently powered USB hub.

  • Can i have 2 ipods connected to the same computer and itunes

if i have 2 ipods how do i get all of my music to both of them and can u even connect 2 ipods to the same computer????

If you want all your music on both ipods, just plug them both in and iTunes should automatically sync them. If you want different music on each, then read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432 or set them both for manual update in the iPod preferences.

  • Unable to connect router to internet and computer at the same time.

I'm not sure where to start, but here goes. We recently got the internet set up at out new house. Of course, the only connection is downstairs and the computer is upstairs. The guys that set the internet up said we needed a wireless router and I said "Ok, cool."
He gave us a router and a receiver and hooked them both up. (I myself know quite a bit about computers but I figured I'd let him do his job.) So we're all set up and I start playing my game and I get a "Windows has a conflict with another computer on this IP" or something like that. I figured I might as well put some security up on this thing. So I go downstairs and hit the SecureEasySetup (SES from now on) button and come back up here and follow all of the steps and it say's that it's not connected. I run back downstairs and looc for the MAC Address and notice that it was not mentioned as one of the selectable routers.
I figured the guy didn't really install the router, just hooked the internet up into it and plugged it in, and that my reciever picked up someone else's from the neighborhood. So I go and get the CD to install and notice that I have to have the router plugged into the computer AND the internet at the same time for installation to complete. Uhh, that could be a problem. Computer upstairs + router and internet cable downstairs = no go.
So here's my question: What can I do about that? I can't have the computer and the internet hooked up to the router at the same time.
    Thanks to everyone that replies.

First off... don't use the setup CD.
Configure your router by http(ing) to the IP address, log in, and configure that way.  much easier.  typically its http://192.168.1.1
    username admin
    password admin
once you get logged in change that password and Remember it!  If you lose it, you'll have to reset to factory defaults.
    2nd
Change your SSID. Default is "linksys"  you'd be suprised how many people leave the thing as defaults and someone else is using yoru network connection...
    3rd
Add security WPA is better than WEP
    4th
Now go upstairs and look for your new SSID, connect with your WPA code and you should be set.
5th - Not needed but for info...
If you want to go that far... you can change your DHCP set to something like 10.0.10.x but you'll have to manually change the IP of the router to that subnet as well...

  • Multiple iPod shuffles to connect to the same computer

Is there any special instructions to have two iPods that my family would want to connect to the same computer?
Each family member has our own playlist and we'd like to update our own iPod shuffles with our own playlists. The first iPod shuffle we bought works fine, but I'm having trouble getting the second iPod to be recognized.
thanks in advance for your help

    Marc,
I have two iPod Shuffles supported by a single Dell Desktop running Windows XP/SP2. I'll relate my experience and hope that helps you. My first Shuffle was a 512Mbyte. I installed the iTunes software from the CD that came with the Shuffle, and then plugged the Shuffle into the USB port at the bottom front of the Dell. It was recognized by Windows and by iTunes and I was directed to register the Shuffle with Apple. I named the Shuffle and that name appears in the iTunes Source List. Then I acquired a 1Gbyte Shuffle for my wife. I DID NOT re-install iTunes from the new CD (although I made sure that the existing iTunes was the latest version 4.7.1). Now with iTunes open, I plugged my wife's Shuffle into the same USB port as I use for my Shuffle. Once again, the new shuffle was recognized by both Windows and iTunes and, once again, I was asked to register the second Shuffle and give it a name (of course, different from the other Shuffle). Now both Shuffles appear in the Source List. I only plug one Shuffle in at a time, and the Shuffle that's plugged-in has a little "up-arrow" appear to the right of its name in the Source List. I am the administrator and only user of the Dell, so there's no "partitioning" problems that might screw up the support of multiple Shuffles -- your family members may have separate accounts on your computer, but I'd suggest that only one (and always the same) user logon to access iTunes and the Shuffles.
    Good luck.
