  • ITunes could not connect to Music Store

Okay here's my problem: When I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, it wouldn't open after the download was complete. So I went into the discussion about iTunes not opening and found this msconfig thing that you could do in order to make your computer start up differently. It told me to go to Start, click on Run. Then type in msconfig and hit enter. And after that I needed to change the startup selection to 'selective startup' and deselect 'load startup items'. Then I was supposed to go to the Startup tab and select only qttask and iTunesHelper. Next it told me to go to the Services tab and make sure that 'Hide all Microsoft Services' was selected. And Disable All. Then it told me to select iPodService. Then click okay and restart my computer. Now after I did all of this, iTunes opened. But when I tried to play my purchased music it gave me a message that said 'This computer is not authorized to play '_' (it said the name of the song here). Would you like to authorize it?'. And below there it had a space for me to type in my password, but my Apple ID was already typed in for me. So I did it correctly and typed in my password and clicked on Authorize....then I got an error message that said 'iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused'. I just figured that I typed in my password wrong and clicked on the purchased song again but this time I clicked on forgot password, but then got the same error message. It's been a difficult for the past few weeks not being able to listen to my favorite music. Could someone please help me, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now. I tried calling Apple Support, but since you are only able to use it for 90 days, they wouldn't help me. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Hi, I get the same error when I try to connect to Music Store or even get the songs info from my original Cd's, like song info and album art, it shows:
iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again.
I did try everything, I checked the windows firewall, the antivirus program's firewall, the LAN's router configuration and in all of them Itunes and all the Ipod related programs have permission but it still can not connect to the music store. Is there any way to solve this?
    Thank you

  • Can no longer connect to music store

I'm not sure what happened. After I did a clean install of WinXP, I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and connected to music store and bought some music. I couldn't burn it onto a CD. I uninstalled everything, re-installed the original iTunes from the mini CD, and now it won't connect to the music library anymore.
Does anyone have any idea what the heck happened?
    Please help,
    Thanks
    Nancy

Nancy, welcome to discussions! Since this is a connection issue with the store & not a problem with your mini, I would suggest you re-post in the iTunes for Windows forum, under the sub-section "using iTunes music store". There are a number of threads in that forum dealing with store connection issues.

  • AOL users who can't connect to music store, come here!!!!!!

I was searching for web accelerator threads, since I couldn't connect the music store, and then I typed in, "aol web accelerators," and I found a thread that could turn off my AOl accelerators, but I couldn't turn it off. But the poster helped me enough, how to connect to the itunes music store. Enough about how I found out how to connect, and just forget about what I said before and follow these steps, hopefully it works. Sign out of AOL, if you are online. Go under you START menu on your computer. Then go under ALL PROGRAMS, or PROGRAMS. Then go under AMERICAN ONLINE and from there click AOL SYSTEM INFOMATION. When that box comes up, at the top of the screen click UTILITIES and at the middle of that section it should say, AOL ADAPTER, and press REBUILD AOL ADAPTOR. Once you press that, another box will come up that says something and under it it says OK, so press OK. After that sign on to AOL untill AOL is completely connected to the internet. Then try and go into the music store.
It worked for me, so hopefully it'll work for you.
    Thanks for reading.

Yeah It would be nice if the put ALL windows forums in one section and leave it out of the mac sections, or atleast split the ipod forums one for windows one for macs but ho well...
I know for iTUnes they have a windows only section, but then for some reason they dumped all windows topics in the iTUnes for mac section too. so Time to Time we get mac posters here and have to redirect them

  • ITunes Can't Connect to Music Store or Update Server

    Hi.
Something is wrong with my internet settings and I don't know what it is. Certain programs are having trouble connecting to external sites, for example:
-iTunes won't connect to update server
-iTunes won't connect to music store
-Software Update can't connect to update server
-Gmail Notifier can't connect to mail server
I just got a new iPhone and can't configure the bloody thing - can someone please help me out?

Does any other PC/Mac experience this same issue?
If not then we at least know the issue is isolated to 1 machine having a particular issue.
But if it happens on Iphone and other machines then yes there is a network issue.
One simple thing you could do. Connect your PC directly into the cable modem see if services come back. If they do then something within the router is not working correctly.
At which point consult your router manufacture. Or even power cycle router for 5 min aka disconnect power, reconnect, reconnect to modem. And test connections again.

  • Cannot Connect to Music Store Unknown Error -3221

Please help me. I subscribed to ITunes specifically because I pre-ordered the Depeche Mode CD. And now that I am trying to download/upload(?) through the advanced / pre-orders I keep getting an error message stating "Cannot connect to music store. An unkown error occurred -3221. Make sure you rnetwork connection is active and try again."
I have been reading the fixes online and tried the overnight test. I tried adding the site to my pop-up blocker... NOW WHAT? I cannot access the music store at all (for the past 3 days that I have been trying). I pretty much just want a refund for my CD that I cannot download. BTW - in between my purchase and my attempts to access the music store I was forced to "upgrade to 6"... so is that where the problem lies? I also called the support phone number on the "contact us" link and no one on the telephone can help. I AM SO FRUSTRATED! Please make this better! I am on Windows XP.

    hi Cheryl!
"Cannot connect to music store. An unkown error occurred -3221. Make sure you rnetwork connection is active and try again."
haven't seen that error code for a while. but we've got some documentation on it. have you seen this yet?

  • Connection to Music Store problem

After installing iTunes 6.0.1 on my iMag G5 I've problems to connect to Music Store (Italy). The most of times I cannot connect and the program do not show errors, other times there is a timeout error connection, when I connect the connection is very very slow. The connection to all other sites are quick as usual with my ADSL line.
I look in forum to solve the problem but found nothing useful.
Now I wait for iTunes patch or upgrade, may be I return to use LimeWire.

You have to follow the directions given in a number of the other posts about getting into MSConfig.
Go to the start menu, select Run and in the dialog box under Run type MSConfig.
This takes you to the config panel.
What I think is happening is that there are certain drivers loading in your system at start-up which are conflicting with the iTunes Music Store software.
In msconfig, on the general tab, select selective startup.
Go to Services and check the box that says "hide all microsoft services" this will give you a screen which shows only the third party start-up items. Uncheck all of the items and leave only the iPod Service box checked.
Then go to the start-up tab and uncheck everything. Then check QTTask and iTunes helper.
Restart your machine and check to see if you can connect to the Music store. If so you have turned off the conflicting process. You can go back in and add items 1 at time until you find you can't hook up to the music store - then you know what the conflict was. For me it was the D-Link utility.
All you are doing is trying to isolate the one start-up item thatt is causing the conflict.
This is a time-consuming process with start-up, reboot, shut down, etc. But it is worthwhile and at the end of it you have isolated the cause of the problem.
    Good luck.

  • Itunes won't connect to Music Store.

FYI - Possible solution to Can't connect to network.
I had this problem and I uninstalled itunes and had an old copy laying around and I reinstalled the older version and then did the 'msconfig fix' (disable all services and then add a service one by one. It worked and I could connect to music store. Connected to the latest itunes version 6.0.something or other and I can now connect to music and Apple can now suck every loose penny I have.

  • Error message: iTunes cannot connect to music store....

I have been trying everything for the past day and a half and I still can't get my music store to work?? Everytime I open it I get an error message saying:
Make sure your network connection is active and try again
    Can someone please help me?

The same thing happened to me so I sent an email to apple. Honestly, I can't make any sense out of it but maybe you can. This is what they sent to me:
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble connecting to the iTunes
    Store.
I have verified that the iTunes Store is functioning and accepting
connections, which indicates that the issue is related to your internet
connection, local network, or your local computer itself.
iTunes has a great new feature called Network Diagnostics that can help
you diagnose and resolve issues that prevent you from connecting to the
    iTunes Store.
First, make sure you're using iTunes 7.0 or later, which is available
free of charge at the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
Now follow these steps to use Network Diagnostics:
    1) Make sure that you have an active Internet connection.
    2) Open iTunes.
    3) Choose Diagnostics from the Help Menu.
    4) Select Network Diagnostics and click Run.
The Network Diagnostics interface will help you identify and resolve
any network issues that are affecting your ability to connect to the
    iTunes Store.
Please note that certain types of software can affect the way a
computer sends and receives information from the Internet. Here are a few
examples of these types of software:
    * Virus and/or worm protection software
    * Web accelerators
    * Ad filters
    * Firewalls
If you have any of this software, and if you cannot access the iTunes
Store, you will need to configure these applications to allow iTunes to
    connect to the internet.
Please refer to the documentation that came with that software, and if
necessary contact the software's manufacturer. You'll need to configure
the software to allow these domains to send and receive data from the
    Internet:

everyone from new users to professionals can interact and share their

operating system or ISP that may be able to help resolve this issue. You can

Problems connecting to the iTunes Music Store usually stem from issues with the Windows firewall, a privacy filter (such as Mcafee) or a download accelerator. Start here:

  • ITunes could not connect to Music Store. The network connection was reset.

For 3 days now i've been unable to connect to iTunes music store, every time with the same error message (above). Yes I'm connected to the internet, no I do not have this problem with any other software/site.
    I miss my music ;(
    - Thank You,
    - reknit

Ok, this is an update and then I'm going off to bed, so if anyone has any bright ideas I will see them first thing.
I now wonder if limewire may be the problem, even though it is 'listening' currently on port 33782 which is nowhere near to iTunes or anything else for OS X. Why? Because up until today, I could only connect to limewire during the daytime - evenings and weekends it wouldn't connect and discussion forums suggest that tiscali (my ISP) is one of the worst offenders for blocking UDP traffic at peak times and may be specifically targeting limewire. Today, when I have had the problem with iTunes Music Store, I have been able to connect to limewire all day and all evening, no problems.
However the problem with this theory is that when I could connect previously to limewire only during the day, I could still connect to the Music Store as well at the same time. So it may be irrelevant.
I have checked everything else from the article - the discussion boards, keychain access, firewall, it all checks out. So if anyone has any ideas about this, I'd be very happy.

  • ITunes can't connect to Music Store - error 502

Since updating to iTunes version 7.1.1, I haven't been able to connect to the Music store at all. I've sent messages to Apple twice stating my problem, but I haven't gotten a response at all. My connection, of course, is fine, but I can't connect. The message I get is "iTunes cannot connect to the Music Store. An unknown error occurred (error 502). Please check to make sure your network connection is working and try again."
    Anybody have any answers?

You may want to consider performing the following to be sure no software is conflicting with iTunes:
1.) Disable all anti-virus software you may have running
2.) Disable all firewall software you may have running
3.) Disable all web acceleration software you may have running
4.) If you are connected to the internet via an internet router, please disconnect it and connect directly via your broadband modem

  • '500 Internal Server Error' when trying to connect to Music Store

Does ANYBODY at Apple CARE that I've been writing posts for 2 WEEKS trying to get an answer to the reason why I can't connect to the Music Store? This is absurd!
Since upgrading to iTunes 6.0.3 (and now 6.0.5), I get a 'Music Store termporarily unavailable' message. I have the same PC, OS, and ISP that I've used to buy hundreds of dollars worth of your music - but since upgrading - I'm dead in the water. Norton is set to PERMIT i-tunes - but I get the same problem with Norton turned OFF.
When trying to connect to the Music Store via the following URL: phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/storeFront
as suggested in other posts, I get a "Error 500 Internal Server Error" - which according to my ISP and Microsoft is on APPLE'S Server - not my end.
