Connect to Outlook button is disabled in ribbon

I have a publishing site.
In this site I enabled feature "Team Collaboration Lists" which gave me the option to add "Calendar" web part in my publishing site page.
I added calendar web part but the button "Connect to Outlook" is disabled in ribbon. In fact all buttons under "Calendar" tab are disabled such as "Export to Excel", "Open with Access", "Edit List", "List
Settings etc.
I read somewhere that I need to enable feature "Offline Synchronization for External Lists" which I did but still "Connect to Outlook" is disabled.
I am logged in as Site Collection Administrator.
I have tried this in both IE and Chrome.
I am using SharePoint 2013 and Exchange 2010.
I know SharePoint 2013 can't sync with Exchange 2010 but at least the button should be enabled.
On this machine Outlook or any MS Office component is not installed. Could it be because of this?
Or may be I didn't add the correct calendar web part and there is some other calendar web part which can be synced with Outlook?

Yes, you need 32bit Office 2010 or 2013 installed on the client to enable those buttons.

  • "Connect to Outlook" Disabled

    Hi,
    I am not able to connect any SharePoint 2013 list or calendar to Outlook 2013.  When I select a SharePoint List Ribbon the "Connect to Outlook" button is always greyed out.  I am running Windows 8, IE 10, Outlook 2013
    and SharePoint 2013 (Foundation).  IE and Outlook are 32-bit versions.  I am the site administrator and have full access to all the lists.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    The reason why the "Connect to Outlook" is greyed out, is because there is a feature called "Minimal Download Strategy". The feature redirect you to an application page start.aspx, do some validation, and loads start.js script. This add
    the "_layouts/15/start.aspx" in the URL wich seems to break the Connect To Outlook functionnality.
    To go arround this, you have 2 choice;
    1-Open you Calendar, Click the Calendar button in the top navigation bar, and go to "List Settings". (4 buttons right from the connecto to outlook)
    From there, copy the "Web Adress", and paste it in the adress bar of your browser.
    Then go to the Connect to Outlook, it shouldn't be greyed out anymore. It work for me on IE9 32bit with outlook 32 bits.
    2- Go to the site settings of your collection, then to Manage Site Features, and deactivate the Minimal Download Strategy" feature.
    The Minimal Download Strategy is actually a very good feature that you migh want to keep though as it makes most of the apps load faster.
    I still don't know why this breaks it, but I'll do more research on it.
    Let me know if this works for you as well.

  • I can see an RSS folder from SharePoint on my phone (yay!) - is there a way to have this with the "Connect to Outlook" option?

    I can see an RSS folder from SharePoint on my phone (yay!) - is there a way to have this with the "Connect to Outlook" option?
    We've got a bevy of test phones here and I've been able to see RSS feeds in an Exchange setup using Android (along with other folders) but no Lists that were hooked up using "Connect to Outlook" button from SharePoint.

    Hi,
    You are viewing Mobile view of the site into your phone. If you open the same site in normal PC view i.e. the same look which you have in your computer then it will give you an option to connect to outlook.
    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the suggestion but clicking on 'Connect to Outlook' from various phones doesn't seem to work.  "This webpage is not available." -- I didn't really expect it to do anything as I think this was meant to be done on a computer.  And then
    the result is that the documents would be available in Outlook.
    And then, my question kicks in:  is it possible to see these files that are now in Outlook on a phone that's connected to the Exchange Server.

  • Document library sync using "Connect to Outlook"

    Hi,
    I have a requirement where users want to have "bi-directional
    synchronization" using "Connect to Outlook" functionality for Document libraries in SP2013
    server . While clicking the  on "Connect to Outlook"
    button they can see the documents in Outlook but they need to want to have some documents and emails on their local machine and drag drop on Outlook 2010. It showed a circular cross and users could not sync their files from Outlook 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
    Q: Does Microsoft provides only one way sync for
    document libraries? I think OneDrive could help them. But OneDrive does not sync to Outlook.
    Q: Do we have any connectors to OneDrive to
    Outlook clients (Outlook 2010 specifically).
    Any pointers would be appreciated.

    If you specifically need this functionality in Outlook, take a look at Harmon.IE which is an Outlook plugin for SharePoint.

    Using javascript you can show/hide ribbon on particualr page.
    Open your SharePoint master page
    Locate this line: <div

    I appreciate your expertise to help me resolve this issue.

    Hi,
    Per my test,  I am able to use the Connect to Outlook feature with Office 64-bit.
    For your issue that Connect to Outlook feature is greyed out:
    Activate Offline Synchronization for External Lists feature.
    Go to the Calendar.
    On the Calendar tab click List Settings.
    Copy the Web address, e.g. https://www.contoso.com/sales/Lists/Calendar/calendar.aspx.
    Paste the URL in your browser and press Enter.
    Go to the Calendar tab and click List Settings.
    You will notice that the Connect to Outlook link is now enabled.

    I am usually able to connect via Outlook 2013 to mny Office 365 Exchange accounts for email etc. But sinice Saturday 18th July have been unable to do this. I can also tether my laptop to my phone and pull Office 365 mail etc with no issues. So I know the laptop is fine, the Outlook app is fine and Microsoft hosting Exchange is fine. The issue has to be the network I am connecting over. I can use the OWA to get mail, but as I have several mail accounts configured in Outlook and you can only sign in to one 365 account at a time, this is not a workaround I can use. Any ideas what the problem is?

    I'm getting this too; I have an Office 365 account that is provided by my employer.  Around Thursday last week I started to have issues connecting to the mailbox using the Outlook 2016 for Windows Desktop at home. It would show as disconnected and attempting to reconnect would get errors regarding authenitcation. Being an IT professional I did some investigation and also having talked to Microsoft themselves we've narrowed it down to some form of Sky IPv6 configuration, as the Microsoft Exchange expert I spoke too reckons that it's some for of IPv6 Proxy setup at Sky's end, reasons; Around the same time I was having issues with connecting to my O365 mailbox I noticed my Sky Hub has received a firmware update adding several IPv6 related features (Ping, LAN setup, Firewall).I also have Outlook for Android and can connect to my O365 account at home no problem; my Smartphone (Galaxy S4 running Android Lollipop) does not support IPv6.There is nothing wrong with my O365 account and mailbox, Microsoft checked whilst I was looking over their shoulder and I can connect to it via the Web Portal at home.Outlook 2016 can connect to my O365 mailbox via other networks; my employer's wifi network and also whilst at a friend's, their BT Internet wifi network; this indicates that the IPv6 configuration on my laptop is good.I've found a work around; you need to disable IPv6 on your PC's network card until Sky sort out what they are doing regarding IPv6! Navigate to the Control Panel.Go to the Network and Sharing Centre.On the left click "Change Adapter Settings".This will bring up the "Network Settings" form.Right click the connection that is being used (you will probably see two connections if your PC has both an ethernet and wifi card.  The one that is NOT being used will have a RED "X" against it).Choose Properties.Within the "This connection uses the following items" list of items, scroll down until you find "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IP)" and uncheck it (remove the tick from the box) and click "OK".Restart Outlook; the mailbox should now connect. The question I have what is Sky doing regarding IPv6 introduction/configuration as so far I haven't seen much about it!

    The download button will be disabled if you are not on a WiFi connection at the present time.

  • PZ02 ESS Service Change button is disabled.

    Hi,
    In the standard service PZ02, if we select the emergency address as address type, "Change" button is disabled.
    Why is this button disabled for emergency address only where as it is enabled for permenent residence and work address.
    If we want to make this enabled for emergency address, what should we do. Is this control through any configurations?

  • Parent/Child Lists and Disabling Contextual Ribbon

    I have a display form for a parent list that is setup with web part connections to show list view web parts of some child lists.
    When you click the child list the ribbon displays a "New Item" button for the selected web part's list. How can I stop this from happening?
    I have my own custom new button for the child items, so on the child form I can pre-set the relationship drop down box (and hide it from the user) using a query string value I put in.
    I therefore need to stop the default new button appearing in the ribbon when the user selects the list items web part (because I can't put in the required query string value).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi Richard,
    As I understand, you would like to remove New Item button in the display form page of parent-child relationship list. Please add a content editor to use the code below in the Default Display Form:
    <style>
    .ms-list-addnew
    display: none;
    </style>

  • Customise in InfoPath button in the list ribbon

    Hello
    I am currently trying to edit a list using InfoPath in Office365, sounds simple enough but whenever I click 'Customise in InfoPath' it asks me for credentials to connect to the web service list
    No matter how many times I attempt to place my username or password in the fields it will not connect, I know they are correct as I just logged onto the Office 365 suite with them. I have also
    tried my normal company non Office365 credentials with no luck.
    My colleague on the other hand gets a completely different box appear when he clicks the same button in the same ribbon of the same list.
    I have reinstalled the entire Microsoft 2010 suite and IE9 but still get the same message and becoming a bit stuck with my next move. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated

    Just incase anyone else ever has this issue check your proxy settings, I had uninstalled Websense Laptop Client, once reinstalled it worked as it should have done

  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues Outlook Anywhere - Exchange 2013

    Hi there,
    As part of our Exchange 2010 -> 2013 migration we've transitioned CAS to Exchange 2013 2 weeks ago. Some 50 mailboxes have been moved to exchange 2013. Moving mailboxes for everyone is scheduled the 2nd week of july . Because our current version of Outlook
    is 2007 (migration to 2013 is due thissummer) we've configured NTLM authentication for OA.
    Exchange setup: 8 Multirole (CAS/MBX) virtual (VMware) Servers: each 4 cores, 24 Gb memory (reserved) : Windows 2012 SP1, Exchange 2013 SP1 (15.0.847.4030)
    Right now we're facing client connectivity issue's: Outlook Anywhere clients are continiously losing connection with exchange, some people (outllook 2007/exc. 2007) report every minute or worse.... Moving the mailboxes of affected people results in
    less problems: Sometimes no disconnects for 10 to 30 minutes, then reconnects every minute for some time.
    We've already set the timeout for the oa-pool in our network proxy (riverbed steelapp) to 20 minutes and the minimum keep alive on the 2013 servers to 120 seconds which improved Oultook 2013 clients; before I experienced reconnects every minute, after every
    10 to 30 minutes (with periods of reconnects every minute)
    testconnectivity.microsoft.com gives positive results (apart from a nspi warning about server side encryption)
    testing with rpcping according to
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2008/06/20/3405633.aspx gives some interesting results:
    I've tested all (8) CAS 2013 servers over ports 6001, 6002 and 6003; each 100 rpcpings with a for loop: every response was either about 500 ms or about 21 Seconds ?!?
    How can we furher troubleshoot the reason of the long reply time. Eventlogs (and SCOM with exchange 2013 MP) show no relevant events or alerts.

    I've repeated above test this afternoon: All test resulted in about 40-60 (of 100) replies >20 seconds

    We've changed a timeout setting in the Steelapp virtual server (old: 10 sec; new: disabled) the connections between Outlook and Exchange are, when established, very stable (almost no failed request anymore)
    However there still existst a conectivity issue:
    The 8 Exchange 2013 servers are placed in 2 different Active Directory sites (4 servers in each site) and I have found that a cross site rpcping consequently takes more than 20 seconds (with the loadbalancer bypassed ! !) where a rpcping on the
    same AD-site takes 200-300 miliseconds...
    rpcping -t ncacn_http -o RpcProxy=Host-in-site-A -P "user,domain,password" -H 2 -F 3 -a connect -u 10 -v 3 -s RpcProxy=Host-in-site-B -I "user,domain,password" -e 6001 => 20+ seconds
    rpcping -t ncacn_http -o RpcProxy=Host-in-site-A -P "user,domain,password" -H 2 -F 3 -a connect -u 10 -v 3 -s RpcProxy=Host-in-site-A -I "user,domain,password" -e 6001 => 200 miliseconds
    rpcping -t ncacn_http -o RpcProxy=Host-in-site-B -P "user,domain,password" -H 2 -F 3 -a connect -u 10 -v 3 -s RpcProxy=Host-in-site-B -I "user,domain,password" -e 6001 => 200 miliseconds
    rpcping -t ncacn_http -o RpcProxy=Host-in-site-B -P "user,domain,password" -H 2 -F 3 -a connect -u 10 -v 3 -s RpcProxy=Host-in-site-A -I "user,domain,password" -e 6001 => 20+ seconds
    The same tests with our Exchange 2010 CAS and MBX (NO multirole) shows fast (300 ms.) with every combination. The servers are both on the same networks in each site
    We've already started talking with the network guy's: There should be no rules between both networks.
    OWA, Autodiscover, EAS all work fine.
    How or where to troubleshoot this slow response between two AD site's ??

    I try to access a web site from a local network via HTTPS. The web server uses self-signed certificates, and Firefox presents a common "This connection is untrusted" window.
    In version 3.x I simply clicked "Add Exception", and then "Confirm Security Exception". In Firefox 4.0, when I click "Add Exception", I see:
    # "This site provides valid, verified verification. There's no need to add an exception".
    # The "Permanently store this exception" checkbox and the "Confirm Security Exception" button are disabled.
    I cannot access this protected site anymore. Any suggestions?

    There seems to be a work around to add exception.
    You have to manually go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> View Certificates -> Servers -> Add Exception
    Then the "Add Certificate Exception" window comes up. Just enter the URL at location https:// and click "Get certificate". Then "Add Security Exception".
    This will allow you to access the site thereafter.
    I'm not sure though why "Add Exception" button under the "I understand the rsiks" page does not work. May be a bug.

    Hi,
        The best way to perform this is to create IT Admin role and do not assign them rights and this will not how these buttons on the form automatically.
    Hope this helps.
