Connect to sbRIO via Wi-Fi using wireless bridge

Hi,
I have a sbRIO and I want to connect with it (program and deploy code) wirelessly using wi-fi of my laptop PC. I went through few links but they all use two wireless bridges. I have only one wireless router to which I want to connect IP camera and sbRIO and over the other side use my laptop's wi-fi to connect with sbRIO.
Regards.

You should be able to do this by plugging your ethernet devices into your router, then joining the wireless network from your laptop. Just make sure that your router is set up so that the wireless and wired networks are on the same subnet. Once you plug the sbRIO and IP camera in, connect to the wifi from your laptop, then to go the router administration screen (usually you just have to type the IP address of the router in your browser and press enter). From there you should be able to see the devices that are physically connected to your router to ensure they are there.
Have you tried this already? If so what problems are you running into?

I configured my linksys wireless bridge to be able to connect to the internet on my TV.  I am wondering if I have some connections or ports or something on my airport router that aren't right.  I've called Direct TV, Linksys, and now, my last hope is that it is something with my airport settings.  HELP Anyone?

  • AP541's using wireless bridging are falling over.

We've three AP541 on a network.  The first is connected to the internet router, the other two are at either end of the network perimeter connected to the first wirelessly (wireless bridging).  Although it all worked at inception, shortly after clients connected to the two at the perimeter lost connectivity permanently.  although we can get things working by swtiching all off and on again in sequance, it never works for more than a few hours/days before dropping again.
Is anyone else doing wireless bridging and seeing these issues on the AP541?

  • Connecting to internet via D-Link airplus wireless router?

    Hi there,
I bought a macbook pro 17inch yesterday and love it! However, I've tried to set up wireless connection to the home network, which is a D-link wireless router "Airplus G+ 2.4GHZ wireless VPN router"
How do I go about this with the inbuilt wireless options of the macbook?
I am waiting on an airport express which came free with apple care, but that could be a couple of weeks away and I'd like internet connection via my mac before that
Any ideas on what I should be doing, information I might need to get for the router etc?
BTW - It's secured with a password which I have.

    OK, open System Preferences/Network
Location: [New Location] and give it a name
Show: [Network Port Configurations] drag Airport to the top and uncheck all others
    Show: [Airport]
Airport tab - set [By default join] to Preferred networks
In the pop-down select the D-Link network (and remove any others if there)
TCP/IP tab - set [Configure ipV4] to Using DHCP
    Click [Apply Now] bottom right
You should get an IP number allocated by the router ...

  • Mac Book Pro won't connect to internet via either Ethernet or wireless

A month ago my macbook pro suddenly stops working wirelessly with my virgin media router showing it has connected but no internet access. I have a second computer so i hadn't addressed the issue untill now. On a different virgin media router at my university flat I have exactly the same issue. I can connect to the Wi-Fi but it has no internet access and an IP of 169. so it is being rejected somehow. I have tried several things but they haven't worked. I stress that the ethernet doesnt work either which is unusually of most posts on this topic. If anyone could help me that would be much appreicated.

I had the exact same problem, here is what helped me, hopefully it will help you also...
I have been using my airport disk (edge_diskgo external HD) now for about 3 weeks, it has been rock solid... until tonight after the firmware update.
My macs could not locate the airport disk, but my pc's still could.
(Maybe this was how the security problem was solved? You can no longer access the Airport disk from macs? Brilliant!)
It turns out that all I had to do on my both my macs is go to
Airport disk utility (just type that in spotlight) and check
both boxes: Automatically discover Airport Disks
Show Airport disks in menu bar
Then I went to the top right hand side of the menu bar, and clicked on the airport disk utility icon, clicked on my basestation name and entered my basestation password.
I also had following settings in Airport Utility/Disks/File sharing:
    File sharing is enabled
secure shared disks (with base station password)
    Guest access (not allowed)
Share disks over ethernet wan port (checked)..
Advertise disks globally using bonjour (not checked)
My drives are back up with all of their contents, working now, we will see how they do tomorrow.
Thanks for all the help on this post, special Thanks to trevinwagner, hope this helps someone else.... its very late, Goodnight all

  • Unable to connect remote databse via windows XP(using Instant Client)

I have downlaod instant Client and the PATH env variable automatically is set when I install Instant Client. Then I try to connect using the following(from the path C:/XEClient/bin):
    sqlplus username/passwd@//host:[port][service name]
    I get the following error:
    ORA-12170: TNS: Connect timeout occurred
When I ping the host I get reply.
Also I am able to connect to that same database thru perl( so I presume there is no problem with the database not avaiable or port not open etc), where additionally ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID env variable are set to the path in the remote machine. The databse version is Oracle 9.2
    Below is the sqlnet.log:

Am I missing some set up.
Can anybody help please...I have been trying since last 3 days.
    Thanks

    Hi Laurenz,
Sorry to say...but it still does not connect(incorporated your suggestions), nor is the trace generated. sqlnet.log looks no different. As about any other oracle clients...I did not have any until yesterday evening when we installed the entire 10g oracle...client and database.
Anyways now too after having installed oracle 10g on D drive, no succes in connecting to remote databse.
    Two questions:
    1. Is XE client compatible with 10g database? As I am trying to connect to 9.2 version as mentioned in my initial query.
    2. When I ping the host I do get reply. BUT when I telnet i.e.
    telnet host port
....it says "could not open connection to the host, on port XXX: connect failed"
Does it mean there is a firewall at the remote end which is preventing the successfull connection? But then how do I connect thru' Perl with no extra info...
Any other suggestion please let me know...and also do you suggest I uninstall all oracle clients other than XE...or is there any way out ...having multiple clients?
Another query...hope I can use toad after having set up the XE client?
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi
At the moment I can't connect to the iTunes when I'm using an Ethernet connection but it works when I use wireless.
Any ideas how i can sort this out?

Check your Preferences set up-- you may need to manually reset to the other connection.

  • Can RVS4000 be used to bridge subnets?

At the small church I attend, and where I'm the IT guy, we have an RVS4000 router which has worked well for us including the VPN capability. Our internet connection is through AT&T (not my choice) and last week we had to switch from DSL to U-Verse because AT&T is doing away with the former.
Unfortunately as part of this switch, the old modem was discarded and an NVG510 installed. The NVG510 is a combo modem/router. But since it doesn't have VPN capability and is not as good a router all around as the RVS4000 (even though the 4000 is an aging device), I am trying to run both.
I finally figured out how to set up IP Passthrough on the NVG510 so now VPN is again working to the RVS4000 so that's not an issue. We do have a couple of PCs that are in a room where no wired connections are possible so they are using wireless. But they are not very close to the wireless antennas so they don't have the greatest throughput. The NVG510 does have wireless capability and is physically located to where it would provide a much better signal. However, the NVG510 will only use a 192.168.x.x subnet and our LAN is setup for 10.x.x.x. I'm not about to change the LAN as it runs a Windows domain with enough equipment that I don't want the exercise of changing subnets.
So my question is this. Can the RVS4000 be setup so that it will route domain traffic between the 2 subnets? As it is now, connecting a PC to the 192.168.x.x subnet on the NVG510 allows it to have internet access but it can't access domain resources on the 10.x.x.x subnet. I don't understand networking well enough to know why this won't work. I know it can because when I worked for a large corporation, they had different subnets that were routed so that PCs on one subnet could be on the same Windows domain as PCs on another subnet and all access resources on both subnets.
The RVS4000 may be capable of doing this but my limited knowledge of networking (I know servers, not switches, etc) means I'm not sure of what I see on the router to know if it can do it or not.
I'd be appreciative to know first off if the RVS4000 can do it, and secondly if it can, then how to set it up. I've worked with the RVS4000 since we got it 3+ years ago so I'm fairly familiar with it, I just don't know the rest.
    Jonathan

Hi JP, some of the issues you're running in to include NAT and the Firewall of the RVS4000. You may be able to try to set the RVS4000 in to "router mode" and make a static route or use RIP.
The route may look something like-
    Destination 192.168.x.0
    Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway  The LAN IP address of the U-VERSE box
    Hop count 1
Conversely, the U-VERSE box may also need a similar static route since it has no idea about the 10.x.x.x network, so all traffic may come from the RVS4000 but won't have a path back since the U-VERSE wouldn't know where to send it.
If the U-VERSE supports RIP, this may be a better option since they should share a route table.
Since the RVS4000 is behind the U-VERSE you likely don't need the firewall of the RVS4000. You may want to disable the firewall and IPS, especially for testing purposes.

  • Wireless Bridge vs Print Server

I just bought a network capable printer (10/100).  I have a wireless network with a wrt54g.  I want to connect the printer wirelessly in a distant room from the router.  I have an extra wrt54g that I could use if possible to make the connection.
Should I get a WET54G wireless bridge and connect the printer through it, or should I just get a WPS54G wireless print server and connect the printer to the network with that?
What's the difference between the bridge and the print server, other than the USB port on the back of the print server?  Is there any distinct advantage of one over the other?
    Thanks!

    Thanks gv. This is great!
I looked into the Hyperwrt-thibor.  I found information that leaves me slightly confused.  I must assume from the table below that "wrt_a" would be the "router" and "wrt_b" would be the "bridge/router".  Correct?  I gathered this from the IP address...
    Basic WET Setup
                                                      WRT_A              WRT_B
    Basic Settings
    Internet Connection Type         DHCP                  Disabled
    Router IP                                   192.168.1.1       192.168.2.1
    DHCP Server                             Enabled              Disabled
    Basic Wireless Settings
    Wireless Mode                           Access Point       WET
Again, thanks much.  It's great to learn something new.  It's times like this that I realize just how little I know....

  • E3000 Wireless Bridging to a Belkin Wireless Router

I need some help to setup a WIRELESS BRIDGE.  I got a new E3000 which works great so far for my basic wireless and LAN needs.  But I want to use my old Belkin wireless router (G) as a bridge to connect my BD-Live Blu-ray player and any other wired devices in that location of the living room. The Belkin router is access point / wireless bridging capable.  I have the E3000 setup for DHCP, starting address at 192.168.1.100, and 50 users.  I've set the 2.4GHz Channel to 9 (equal to the Belkin router).
Am I supposed to put the Belkin in Access Point mode and enable wireless bridging?  Or disable access point mode and only use wireless bridging, and disable the routing functions (DHCP, etc).
Am I supposed to manually add a client (the Belkin) under the "DHCP Reservation" with the IP I give it under access point mode?  Should this IP address be inside or outside the DHCP range?
This should be a good start.  I'm sure there will be questions.
My first question is: Should I

Your questions would be better in a Belkin forum. Basically, the E3000 is working and all configuration necessary has to happen on the Belkin.
I don't know the Belkin you probably won't be able to use it at as access point and bridge. Thus, I would say you have to configure it as wireless bridge only. It should also not do any routing/IP network related functions, in particular it should not operate as DHCP server or NAT router. When properly bridge, everything should be connected on ethernet level.
The IP address of the belkin itself has the only purpose for configuration. A wireless bridge would not require any IP address for its basic function of wireless bridging. Of course, as most people use IP most devices have web interfaces or other configuration interfaces based on IP.
Thus, you could either assign a static IP address on the Belkin or use DHCP and assign it either with DHCP reservation or a free DHCP IP address. The latter obviously makes it more difficult to access the web interface of the Belkin, if necessary.
I would recommend to set a static IP address on the belkin itself. This is more stable, e.g. in a case where the E3000 is not responsive after a power failure when everything is booting up.
Static IP addresses and reserved IP addresses should be assigned outside the general purpose DHCP address pool.

  • Wireless Bridging SA520

I currently have 2 buildings that are connected using wireless bridging between a AIR-AP1310 and a Cisco1800 with an HWIC-AP module.  I would like to bring a 3 building into the picture which has line of site to the AP1310.  I would like to use the SA520, so I get the firewall and VPN features.  Can the SA520 be set up in Bridge mode to connect to a AP1310?  If not can any of the small business AP units connect in this fashion?  I know I can use a AP1240 Series unit.

i think it seems to work after i have change the ap1220b (ios) to operate as WGB.
anyway, thanks for the suggestion. i dont think i can upgrade as,
a> those ap are loan equipment
b> neither do i have any cco account to obtain the software (requires some image software, if i have not mis-read the upgrade guide)

Thanks for the info. You are correct. I was speaking in general terms here based on my experience with the two devices in day to day use, and not in terms of exact specifications.
A better choice would have been to say that the "coverage" is about the same with the edge going to the Extreme....due to the newer mutliple antenna design.
We sure could use more help on the forums. Hope that you will become a regular.
    Hi Bob
RF is a minefield, but one that I have worked in for ages, the most critical factor in my experience is location, location, location!
Better routers have more intelligently designed antenna systems, output power as I said is the same, radiation pattern (coverage) is dependent on antennas and physical location more than all other factors.

do you need to connect the airport express to a router via ethernet or can it do it using wireless?

There are 3 Apple routers....AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule. Details here:
    http://www.apple.com/compare-wifi-models/
Do you have one of these products in the living room?
If no, you can only use the AirPort Express by connecting to the router in the living room using an Ethernet cable at all times.

What do I need to do connect via a cable modem?

You need to power off the modem for 15-30 seconds, then power back up and then connect. The modem is remembering the last connection (your friend).
