Connect to Server/username & password

I am trying to upload files to a web site. I was instructed to create a new network place (a Windows function) and I am trying to do the equivalent on the Mac. If I connect to a server, I can enter the URL, but I never get asked nor do I see how I can enter my username and password to allow access to the site. There is no FTP access to the site, so this appears to be the only method of access. Sorry for reposting this but I'm still searching for an amswer to this issue. On PC the username/password box pops up when trying to connect - in the Mac it shows the connection but no data appears within the connected server and no password options appear.

I am not an expert, but from my limited expieriance on this subject, I can tell you that if the Web Site was developed with the use of PC Software on a PC Web Server you will need to use a PC to update.
Example I have a web site that is hosted by Yahoo, and I am able to use a PC to do any work. However the use of a Mac is impossible. Yahoo uses there own software that is a combination of Microsoft's Frontpage and a couple of other programs that have been used from several years ago.
The use of .Mac will enable you to use a Mac to do a Web site and be the Administrator.
Not all web hosting services will allow the use of Mac Software. While others will enable you to use a cross section of Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Photoshop, InDesign and other softwares such a Studio Pro and others.
So you will need to find out from your Web Hosting Service, to find out if you can use other than a PC to work on the site.

  • Server Username/Password being reset in Dreamweaver

I've been using dreamweaver for a few years now, but ever
since I installed Dreamweaver 8 I've been having problems wth the
site manager. I have to re-enter the username and login every day.
I am selecting the option for "save password" but it clears both
fields everytime I start DW up. I think I saw something the other
day in some forum that it may have something to do with installing
IE 7. Has anyone seen or heard of this before?
    email me!

    Definitely. Uninstall IE7.
I am really amazed at how many people have installed this on
    a production
    system....

  • HT204075 Mail can't connect to server because password is incorrect

    Hi,
Since I updated my mac book air with the last OS X 10.10.2, my email has been completely broken. I cannot send or receive.
I use Register.com with a personalized email (@perrinparis.com) and have never had any issues before. I spent 1 hour on the phone with one of their technicians who made sure all my settings (ports) were correct.. But it still isn't working. I unchecked use SSL and 'Automatically detect and maintain account settings'.. It still says it can't connect to the server. My hotmail account works just fine.
I have deleted and re-added my account several times..
    I'm hopeless

I had the same problem after upgrading to 10.10.2 last week.  Mail.app wouldn't connect to my Yahoo! or iCloud mail accounts.  I tried Unibox instead of Mail and that worked for a week, but then Unibox had the same problem.  Ultimately, what fixed Mail for me was to log out of iCloud in System preferences, delete my Yahoo! mail from System Preferences / Internet Accounts, then restart the Macbook Air into safe mode (hold down the shift key while booting).  While in safe mode, I went into System Preferences / iCloud, logged in, and enabled Mail, and then added my yahoo account in Internet Accounts.  Finally, Mail started to connect to all my accounts and I was able to receive and send mail again.
I restarted normally and everything has been working fine since then.  While my reply is not guaranteed to work for you, I sincerely do hope this helps!

  • Can't paste password in "connect to server" login box

I need to connect to a webDAV site that assigns temporary login passwords to my established ID. (The temp password lasts 8 hours and is 30+ characters long.)
In Leopard 10.5.6, I can't copy the assigned password from the resulting web page and paste it into the "connect to server" login password box. I can, however, paste the password into a text file. (Can't paste that into the box either.)
Pasting the password works with a Tiger installation on another machine and with a crappy XP laptop. I've tried to use it on my Leopard installation in a brand new account with no luck either.
    Huh?

    Catherine,
You can provide feedback to Apple on that issue if you wish. http://www.apple.com/feedback/

-bash-3.00$ sqlplus IRES_USER/U9$bvs#ir@DBBecaue of the dollar-sign, The shell is trying to expand the environment variable $bvs#ir@DB
Of course you have no environment variable by that name so what gets passed to sqlplus is not "IRES_USER/U9$bvs#ir@DB", but rather "IRES_USER/U9"
In your first test, you didn't pass the password on the command line, so the shell didn't get a chance to intercept it.
You can have a similar issue if you have a '@' in your password
oracle> sqlplus scott/P@ssword@orclTns will catch that first "@" as the delimiter to the tns string, and come up with something that cant' be resolved.

few things you can check :
    a) Is there a password file ? Is the password correct in it ?
    b) SYSDBA remote login is disabled. remote_login_passwordfile is not set to EXCLUSIVE in the spfile or init.ora.
    Set: remote_login_passwordfile= EXCLUSIVE
    Create a password file:
    Unix: $
    orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapw$ORACLE_SID password=sys entries=5
    Windows:
    C:\> orapwd file=%ORACLE_HOME%\database\pwd%ORACLE_SID% password= sys entries=5
To synchronize the password for sys for normal connections and connections as sysdba connect as a sysdba user and reset the sys password:
    $ sqlplus "/ as sysdba" SQL> ALTER USER SYS IDENTIFIED BY change_on_install;

  • Using SSO username/password in java portlet for Database Connection

    Hi all,
We implemented java portlet with environment Oracle Application server 10.1.2 and Portal 10.1.4
At present we are picking the database username and password and connect string in properties and our
java class is reading the properties file and connecting to database to fetch the records.
Our idea is to not to pick the username/password and connect string from the properties file or
not to configure the datasource in data_source.xml.
Our Requirement is who ever login to the Portal(SSO) our java class should pick the sso username/password and
connect to database to fetch the record(s).
Because our database users are one to one mapped to sso user(s) of portal.
We request anyone to guide us how can we do it or suggest any suitable solution for our requirement.
    Thanks
    Dan Tey

I think this is a no-go, since you cannot retrieve a cleartext password from the OID if I'm correct.

  • What are the username, password and connect string for Designer 6.1.1?

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.

    - Filename
    Oracle designer6.1.1
    - Date/Time

These error messages were shown after I entered system, manager and internal, respectively.

    Hi YungJen Chen,
There is no general username, password and connect string for
    Designer 6i Release 4.1.1.
First, you install the client tools using the Installer. See also the
Designer Installation Guide, Chapter 1, 'Client Side installation'.
Second, you install the repository into an existing database, using
the Designer Installation Guide, Chapter 2, 'Server-side installation,
    migration and upgrade'.
The Installation Guide provides step by step instructions on what
users you need to create for various purposes. Any database users
you may need to use such as System or Sys will use the password
given when you installed the database, or whatever passowrd you
    changed it to since.
The Installation Guide is available as part of the download, or from
your Windows Start Menu once the Designer client tools are installed
or from the Designer Documentation page here on OTN.

Is it possible to maintain different passwords for users in Standby and PrimaryFor SYSTEM user, you don't need to worry because when you change SYSTEM user password on primary, it will automatically be updated on the standby because password is saved in data dictionary and data dictionary change is also propagated at the standby standby site. More importantly, you will not be able to perform any data change on standby site in any case (password change of any user other than SYSDBA is a "data change" actually)
For SYS password, no you can't have a different password on primary and standby site(s)

Which HTTP Listener are you using... This stack trace looks strange. I would expect to see reference to org.apache.jserv if you were running a supported environment. The supported Web Servers are JWS which comes with iFS, and Oracle HTTP Listener, which comes with 8.1.7 or iAS 1.0.2
Also please try with JDBC11 and let me know if this works

  • Publish ESB without username/password of connection using Jdeveloper

    Hi,
I have used jdeveloper10.1.3.3 to developer BPEL Process and ESB services.
I have created a Application Server Connection in jdeveloper with hostname, url path and RMI Port right, but without username and password.
I have created a Integration Server Connection mapping the connection above. I tested this Integration Server and the result was:
    Application Server: FAILED
    BPEL Process Manager Server: OK
    ESB Server: OK
After the test of Integration Serve Connection , I tried register my ESB project using the action "Register witn ESB" from Jdeveloper and the result was the error:
"Reload services from ESB Server failed while trying to query service definitions from server."
After the registry, I saw in the ESB Crontol that the ESB Service was publish.
    Question:
Is possible resgistry a ESB service with URL connection correct, but without username and password of Application Server Conncetion from Jdeveloper?
Is there any configuration for validat of username and password of Application Server Connection in the publish of ESB service?
    Is a bug of jdeveloper?
    Thanks,
    Fabrício.

Hello. I'm pretty sure you cannot register an ESB with no username/password - it uses the username/password information in the integration server connection properties to login and deploy. We were surprised that BPEL uses ant build properties so you can specify the name/password, ESB does not - it only uses the integration server connection info.
In 10.1.3.4 (which we don't have yet) the ability to use ant for ESB deploys has been added.

  • Unable to send photos because server doesn't recognize username/password combo

Have a MacBook Air using iPhoto 9.5.1 and operating system OS X 10.9.3.
I have tried to share photos with email using my Yahoo account.  I receive the following message whenever I attempt to send a photo "username/password not recognized by email server."
I have gone into my accounts numerous times in System preferences.  My username/password combo is recognized there.  I have also changed my password on Yahoo and in my accounts.  But I still receive the above message.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

Have a current backup before proceeding here.  Time Machine or otherwise.
If no outbound messages are sent...  There are two different server definitions and two different places where you need a user and a password, the first and most obvious setting within mail is for receiving mail; the POP or IMAP setting.  Everybody gets that one.   To get to the credentials and the password used to send mail messages (the one that folks don't find as easily), Mail > Preferences > Accounts > select the account > switch the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) to "Edit SMTP Server List", then find the Yahoo SMTP server entry, then fix the password there.
Here's the Apple mail troubleshooting information.
If that fails, remove the entry and re-add it.
If smaller messages are sent correctly and larger messages are blocked, Yahoo may be restricting the size of the message(s) being sent.  Try smaller messages as a test, or use a file sharing service to transfer the images, or maybe wait for the OS X Yosemite Mail Drop feature.
PS and FWIW, this message was originally posted in the OS X Server forum, and you're not running OS X Server here — OS X Server includes various network services, including a mail server — a mail server is what Yahoo is running here, but OS X Server allows folks to configure and run a mail server locally on a Mac Mini or some other Mac configured as a server.  Your MacBook Air would then connect into that server, in addition to or in place of the Yahoo server.  Like most other mail servers, the mail server within OS X Server can be configured to block larger messages, too.
