Connect to the internet to access Siri while watching a video.

I'm having a problem watching iTunes purchased tv shows on my wifi iPad Mini. At various points, Siri pops up (totally on her own) with a message to access the internet, to connect to Siri. If I touch the screen, it goes away and the film starts. This keeps repeating every couple of minutes. I've tried several resets but that doesn't seem to help. Any thoughts?

I guess I am. I honed in on this:
iPhone 4, iOS 4
The restore procedure recommendation still applies, I just changed the word "phone" to "iPad."

  • I have a 2009 MacBook Pro that won't connect to the Internet at my university while everyone is able to. How do I fix this?

My roommate has the same laptop as me and she connected perfect fine. I also was here last semester and I could connect with no problems at all. I came back to school this semester and suddenly I keep getting the exclamation mark saying I'm not connected. I'm also connected to the Internet on my iPad right now so I know it works. How do I fix this? Please help!

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • My iPad mini iOS version is 6.0.2  I can't upgrade to iOS 7.  Message displayed is "Verification of update failed because you are no longer connected to the internet."  This happens while I am connected to the internet.  What should I do?

My iPad mini iOS version is 6.0.2 which I can't upgrade to iOS 7.  Message displayed during verifying upgrade is "Can't verify upgrade because you are no longer connected to the internet". This happens again and again though I am connected to the internet through wifi.  What should I do?

Reset the iPad and try again. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Reset your router and try again. Unplug your router from power for about 30 seconds then plug it in again.
Try another WiFi Network. Go to a friend's house, a library, anywhere else that you can use a trusted WiFi network.
Try updating using iTunes on your computer.

  • The dreaded "You are not connected to the Internet" window.

Is it just me, or are others having connectivity problems as the "You are not connected to the Internet" window constantly appears while moving from site to site or link to link?  I have a new iMac and just upgraded Mountain Lion, which I now suspect is the problem.  I have tried all kinds of hardware/software fixes.  Nothing works.  Sheesh!

Thanks for the reply, Greg.  I do have my wife's Mac laptop to test with.  She's experiencing the same sporatic disconnect problem, too.  She's on wifi, I'm on ethernet (I keep my wifi off).  We're in a home. I upgraded our cable modem yesterday (after this problem started) and checked all the wires/connections; everything seems okay.  I thought it was the Mountain Lion upgrade, but this problem doesn't appear to be widespread.  Very strange how connection can stop and start (and stop and start) during a short period of time.  Never expereinced this before.  So now, a hardware problem?  But that wouldn't explain my wife's problem, so maybe it's the modem or the service provider (Comcast).  I hate like **** to have to talk with them.

  • CS Live can't connect to the internet

This problem isn't just specific to Acrobat.com but the whole of CS Live but there didn't seem a more suitable forum category to post this in..
    I have installed CS5 Production Premium and would like to use the CS Live functions to share my screen. CS Live gives me the following Error message when I try select a feature;
    "Network Error
This application is not connected to the internet. Please connect to the internet to access CS Live services."
The new Adobe Help program can access the internet fine and my browser can also access adobe.com. I do not have firewall enabled on my computer as it is set by the network, but another employee also on the same network can connect to CS Live so I'm assuming its local settings. I can't seem to find any preference settings in the programs for connecting to the internet so I'm really stuck as to what the problem is.

    Hi, all
This has to be a conflict in some preferences or something.
I was a PS CS5 beta tester and have been using Kuler and CS Review since a month before final CS5 release without a hitch.
I bought the Master Collection and all was well. I don't know when it happened but a couple of weeks ago I wanted to find a cool color scheme and was puzzled when Kuler wouldn't connect giving me the error message the the original poster documented.
I too have CS4 master collection installed on my machine and I can connect to Kuler no problem in CS4. I have gone through every program scouring for any online settings and making sure that they are all set to connect. And all my extension settings are set properly, but still no network connection with any CS5 program.
I found this bug though in Photoshop CS5. If I uncheck the allow extension to connect to Internet in the Preferences>Plug-ins and restart PS then re-check the option and refresh Kuler Viola it works.
however when I try to open CS Live It still doesn't work. Again if I restart PS Kuler is broken again and I have to do the work around over again.
This only woks in Photoshop as the other programs dont have this option in there preferences.
If any one solves this issue I would love to know this is driving me batty and i really don't want to do a reinstall.
    Thanks

  • Connecting to the Internet While Traveling

I am new to wireless and have been connecting to the internet on my MacBook using a standard ethernet cable at home. But now I'll be traveling and want to have internet access as many places as possible. Can someone please help with instructions on what I need to do/buy, etc.
    Thanks!

One thing to carry is an ethernet cable, as hotels often have ethernet ports in the rooms.
There usually isn't any trouble receiving mail, but there may be in sending it if the hotel is not using your ISP's server. Usually a call to your ISP will tell you which port number to use for outgoing mail while traveling. This is set in Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Advanced.
For wireless, usually you just turn on the wireless, and if it doesn't find any of your usual wireless networks, you will be asked if you want to join a network that it can find. You can just click on the network and then on "join", providing a password if required.
You can practice this at your local wireless cafe or local wi-fi hot spot.
One precaution--don't do anything sensitive like banking at a popular free hot spot--save that for a more private setting. You don't want someone looking over your shoulder getting passwords, for example. I'm not totally up on what's safe and what isn't, and maybe someone will post some more explicit information, but I'd stick to innocuous things until you know more about what is safe and what is not.
    Good luck, and happy traveling!

  • Some of my Mac apps can´t connect to the internet, while Firefox can

All of a sudden, Safari, ITunes, Software Update, can´t connect to the internet.  It happens in my office and in my house.  Have not checked other networks.  Firefox wors fine, as does Mail (for now).  What can be the problem?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    As Guest, test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • My iPad won't connect to the Internet while I'm in Europe, how do I connect it ?

Helpppppp !!!!??? My iPad won't connect to the Internet while I'm in Europe, how do I connect it ?

    jmkaplan wrote:
What is the difference between roaming and Wi-fi.  I'm going to EU in a week.  Your answer implies that if I use the Wi fI in the apartment I'm staying at for my Mac or my Iphone, I won't have to pay extra.  Do I have that right.  My carrier is ATT on my phone.
That's right, wifi is free around the whole world (except if you have to pay to access a protected network). It doesn't matter whether you're with ATT or Verizon. Beaware to turn off Cellular and Data Roaming as it is very costly if you don't have an int'l plan.  I think the cheapest ATT int'l plan at this moment is $25 for 50MB.
Also, you can text anywhere in the world for 50 cents with cellular and data roaming off.  At this rate, you're not going to be popping 50 text messages back and forth, but for a few, I find it to be very reasonable.  It's cheaper to text a fellow traveler than to call him/her at int'l phone rates.  The cheapest text plan is 50 messages for $10.  See ATT.com for other plans.
Another option to consider is Skype. With a wifi signal, you can call anywhere in the world for about 2 cents a minute.  When I set my Skype account up, they required a $10 prepayment.  At 2 cents a minute, that's 500 minutes.  While I think I set my Skype account up from Europe, I think it might be easier to do it here.  Skype works great on both my iPad and my IP.

If you are the only user on your computer you probably don't have multiple user accounts set up and can disregard that.  If you are using iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar.  Now see if your iPad appears under Devices on the left side when you connect it.  If it does, click on the name of your iPad on the left side and your iTunes sync settings options will appear in folders with tabbed headings to the right.
If it doesn't appear on the left side, follow the troubleshooting steps shown in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538.

  • When I try to access the itunes store I get an error message that my computer is not connected to the internet, even though it is. How do I fix this? Thanks.

For some reason when I open iTunes, and try to access the itunes store, help, my account, or anything else I get a message saying that I'm not connected to the internet, even when I know that I am. What's wrong?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Firefox just started to do this if on one user account someone has firefox running another user account on the same computer can not connect to the internet through firefox while firefox is running in the first user account

    Windows XP/Windows 7
2 user accounts on the computer. If each acct is logged into the computer and tries to have firefox running only one can connect to the internet at a time. Have Verizon FIOS for ISP and this just started to occur. Firefox version 8 but also happening in firefox 6.0.2. How can we run firefox in two computer accts at the same time? Thank you

I am having exactly the same problem. This worked on all versions of Firefox up until mid last week. It started failing on Wednesday, coincident with the installation of Firefox 8.0 (see attached gif showing the automatic update on that date).
To fix the problem, you have to shut down Firefox 8.0 on one account, switch to the other account and then you can run it there.
If Firefox 8.0 is running on on account, the other account will run Firefox, but when you enter an URL it waits for quite a while then reports "The connection was reset. The connection was reset while the page was loading".
We also use Thunderbird 8.0 and it does not exhibit this problem, and works at the same time as Firefox 8.0. I suspect they might share some components.
I'd be happy to supply more details if needed.
    Thanks,
    Ed

  • I receive a not connected to the internet message several times daily on my iMac connected via airport to a time capsule which accesses the internet via cable modem.. When I input my password to enter network preferences, the connection re-establishes.

I receive a "not connected to the internet message" several times daily on my iMac connected via airport to a time capsule which accesses the internet via a cable modem. Software/firmware is up to date on the iMac (OSX 10.6.8)  and Tme Capsule(7.5.2). Browser is Safari 5.1.
When I input my password at the prompt to enter network preferences, all the lights go green (ie... ethernet, ISP etc.) and the connection re-establishes immediately and states "the connection appears to be working normally".
It more of a nuisance than anything and seems to have started ocurring over the past couple of months. I also have a windows XP box also connected to the same cable modem that I never have internet connectivity issues with. I've verified all the physical aspects of the connections and can't see any evidence of any actual drops in the modem logs. I suspect it is just an intermittent communication loss between the Imac and the Time Capsule, but I am not very familiar with Mac equipment yet.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem and what you did (if anything) to resolve it?
    Thanks.

The AirPort Express will connect to your existing wireless network if the network is using WPA2 Personal or WPA/WPA2 Personal wireless security settings.
So, it can join the network as a client and then provide an Ethernet signal to your Time Capsule.
Be sure to configure the Time Capsule to operate in Bridge Mode so that it will be operating on the same network.
