Howdy, I have over 3,000 songs in my Office Windows 2000 PC, using I-Tunes. I want to download those songs to my NEW Video I-Pod, then take it home and download to my G-5 Mac. I am finally retiring and don't want to start over again. Will this work?

Generally no, but you can use a rather cheap windows program called xplay from mediafour.com which will read from mac formated ipods.

Is there any easy way to control remote GUI of mac?I used long time NX nomachine server on linux but unfortunately it is not support mac.

If by "official" you mean "developed by Apple" for controlling a Macintosh from a Windows computer then no, there isn't. Apple cannot develop every possible application or utility that someone might need, particularly for Windows systems, which Apple doesn't make. But just because Apple doesn't release such a product doesn't mean that the available solutions don't work and work well. VNC works just fine for many thousands of users (and is in fact the protocol that Apple Remote Desktop uses for it's observe and control function).
This sounds for me little like behave which has mainly MS, seams that ignorance flows also trough Apple company, little bit disapointed but what can i do.... only using VNC.
Apple is not "ignorant" in this matter. They just can't be all things to all people. That's why there are thousands of independent developers producing software, to provide for those needs that the major companies cannot find a business case to justify doing on their own.

USB not mounting - Used on a windows, then a Mac, then not working anymore

Yesterday a faculty member gave me a USB so I could transfer a few files to it for her. She uses Windows computers but I use a MacBook Pro. It worked fine on my MacBook and I transfered the files, then ejected. However, I noticed even after I ejected and pulled the USB drive out it said I did not eject properly (or something like that).
Today, she tells me that she cannot get it to open on her computer (Windows) that it wanted her to format it - which she did not do. I tried opening it up back on my computer and it does not mount.
An alert did pop up saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." OPTIONS: "Initialize, ignore, or Eject."
I click "Initialize..." and it shows this...
As you can see, the "8.03 GB JetFlash Transc.." is not giving me the option to Verify or Repair.
I have ran into a problem before where once I put the drive in my Mac, it wasn't usable for Windows again - but I could still use it on my Mac. But this is different, it does not seem to work on either platforms.
I would be MOST appreciative for any help you may provide.

Connecting to Windows computer from Mac

So here is my issue:
I can connect to my Mac from my PC, but not the other way around.
Both of my machines have internet, and my mac is on a wireless connection.
I want to know how I can access the files from my Windows machine from my Mac.
This is what ive tried so far, and every time I enter in the address it tells me I have entered in a wrong user name or password when I have not had the change to enter anything in!

Am I dealing with an OS X problem here or am I dealing with an XP problem? Wherever the issue is coming from, is it fixable?

Might be both... OSX will/can send past passwords & such before asking, but this site should fix you up. Also might need to ensure they are both the same Workgroup.

Firefox can't even connect to Mozilla for updates. Firefox just sits on the default search page and attempts to connect to websites by typing URLs, or by clicking on the links on the default search page don't work.

You could try the following:
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.

Can connect to wireless on Windows but not Mac OS?

I can connect to my wireless network on my newly boot camped Windows XP. However, now I cannot connect to it on my Mac OS X. I have 10.6.8. I can see my wireless network, it doesn't have a password and everytime I try to connect it attempts but then says the connection timed out. Help?

You need to check the setting for the "Automatic" location. Try this:
System Preferences > Network
Select the AirPort from the left hand side
Click on the Locations combo box and select "Automatic"
Click on Advanced
Select the AirPort tab and enter your network name. Delete all other named networks
Select TCP/IP tab.
Configure IPv4 Using DHCP
Now click on Renew DHCP Lease. After a few seconds you should get an IP address (probably 192.168.x.x)
Click on Proxies tab.
Select Auto Proxy Discovery and Use Passive FTP
Click on OK and Apply, etc.

For your information it does work when connected directly to my mac using a USB Cable.

In most cases you can connect to the Windows shared printer from the Mac. But there is a dependence on the Mac driver being compatible. For many consumer inkjets, the vendor created driver cannot be used for this type of connection so you need to look at alternative drivers, such as Gutenprint or PrintFab. If you can tell us which brand and model of printer you have shared from Windows then we can answer your question with the preferred procedure on the Mac.

Changing Ipod connection fom Windows to Mac.

I am trying to change over my Ipod to update from my Mac instead of my PC.
Have downloaded the Ipod updater using software update my Mac so presumably it is the correct format (ie not Windows)
Followed the steps advised in previous related topics, ie run updater, plug in Ipod when prompted etc but I get a message that advises that the I have inserted a disk containg no volumes that MACOSX can read. There are 3 options in this window. Eject, Ignore or Initialize. I have tried all 3 options with no luck. When i click on ignore it goes back to the updater window. This shows the software version, the serial number but under Format- Unknown.
When I then click on restore it goes through the "motions" looking like it is restoring but then comes up with and error message saying there was an error formatting the Ipod.
If I choose Initilize the Disk Utility launches, sometimes showing the Ipod and other times not
Any help would be appreciated.

Try to connect your iPod with your Mac (put it in Disk Mode), open the disk utility, if you can see it there (please try few attempts) go to Tab "Partition" and click "Parition". Once it has been done, eject your iPod and do a Reset, then plug your iPod with your Mac and open the iPod updater and click Restore.

Can i connect a windows pc to my mac via ethernet and connect the pc to the internet?

I have a windows pc in my office which needs internet connection to verify some of the software i use,
i do not have a wired connection in the room.
can i connect the pc to my mac and connect the pc to the internet via the macs wireless connection?
if so what do i need to do and what settings are requiered as ive tried to plug n play it but it doesnt work!

Use the Internet Sharing option in Sharing preferences. You will be sharing your Wireless connection to your Ethernet port.
Once you check the Ethernet box on the right the Internet Sharing option on the left will become active so you can check it as well.

Camera Window pops the message "Cannot detect Camera, Check connection to camera, then retry"

I have installed Camera Window in my Windows 8.1 laptop. The moment I invoke Camera window, there is a popup which shows . "Cannot detect Camera, Check connection to camera, then retry. I do not have this issue in my iPAD though. Has anyone come across this issue..?Thanks

Wifi connection doesn´t work in Mac Book 5.1 with windows 7 x86 via bootcamp 4

I have installed Bootcamp 4 drivers and all features are fully working except the Wireless conncetion.
The airport wifi scans and works but i click connect to my wifi and i get an error saying that it´s not possible to connect.
In the Mac OS X side wifi works perfectly and in an other computer with Win7 works the connection..
Anyone know what can i do?
i tried reinstalling everything (bootcamp drivers, Windows7 OS, installing other version of boot camp)but i can´t fix this problem
