"Connect to your computer, use iTunes to restore" loop! Please help!!

Everytime I try to turn on my iPod, it gives me the "Connect to your computer, use iTunes to restore" message so I use iTunes to restore but once it's "done" restoring, it tells me the iPod is still in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored. Someone told me to change the file to a Fat32 file but it's already a Fat32. Someone else suggested to change the drive letter but , unless I'm not doing it right, that's not working either. Any other suggestions?? Thanks!

Yes, it does need to recognize the iPod in order for you to do something like this.

My ipod says "connect to your computer. use itunes to restore."
So I plug it into the computer and itunes says it needs to restore, so I click restore, everything seems to go fine, and it says the ipod needs to restart, it does, has a lil progress bar go across the ipod screen, then itunes detects the ipod again and says it needs to be restored again. This is an endless loop, anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? Have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if restoring doesn't work, it may be of some help: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore

  • My 5th gen Ipod won't do anything but show the " Connect to your computer, use itunes to restore" screen. However my computer nor anyone else's will recognize my ipod. What can I do?

My ipod will not do anything but show a screen that asks to "connect ipod to computer, use itunes to restore" My computer however will not recognize my ipod at all so there is no way to restore my ipod. I am not skilled in computers but if anyone has a step by step that would be great.

Did you try a hard reset with the iPod still connected to your PC?  Have you tried multiple USB ports, preferably high powered USB 2.0 ports?
To do a hard reset, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Have you also worked through each and every single troubleshooting suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • Connect to your computer.Use Itunes to restore!

    Good Evening all,
I have the 30gig black video Ipod and I am having issues! All that its doing and nothing more is saying "Connect to your computer. Use Itunes to restore" Then it says the same thing in 3 other languages below. Hey that sound pretty simple but when I try and plug it in to my computer it says Do Not Disconnect in small writing. It was actually bigger earlier today. So I tried to run Ipod updater 2006-06-28 it just sits on the screen saying initializing... with absolutly no function. I tried the 5 r's to no avail. It seems I cant do a thing with it. Please help, someone!

  • TS2972 access your itunes on apple tv, turn on home sharing in itunes on your computer using "iTunes account"

I've had the apple tv 2 since the week it came out and haven't had much trouble with it until now. I haven't changed anything with my network settings. I have noticed the apple tv light seems to turn on at random times now when not being used. Now just about every time I try to access my iTunes library I get "To access your itunes on apple tv, turn on home sharing in itunes on your computer using (my account name)". My iTunes library is not listed. If I restart iTunes my computer with iTunes open will now be listed but when I select it it tries to connect them errors out. If I restart the computer then everything works fine. That is until next time I try to connect and I have to do it all over again. I don't want to have to restart my computer every time I use the apple tv. Any idea why this just started happening? Everything has worked until now. Bug in the latest iTunes maybe?
    Thanks.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Problem connecting after using Itunes 5.0. Please help!

I updated to Itunes 5.0 a couple of days ago. I didn't have any problems installing it and was running fine. Then when I had purchased some music when it was imported to my Ipod, a couple of the songs were freezing. I was trying to figure out whether it was the song on my Ipod or if it was the purchased song. While I was doing that my program froze and told me it no longer recognized my Ipod and come up with the error message that says Itunes is not responding, End Now.
After I did that, it seemed as though my Ipod had been deleted, and I thought all hope was lost. Now after looking in the files, it shows my Ipod Control folder has just been hidden. I have gone in and shown the files so they are no longer hidden. I also noticed it had the 4 letter song names in there too now. When I open Itunes again, it just hides them again and continues to say its unable to recognize my Ipod and that I need to update my Ipod software, which I have tried and still doesn't work.
What should I do now? I was thinking about uninstalling Itunes 5.0 and going back to my old version, but I have seen that other people have been having problems with that.
My main concern is that I don't want to lose my music because I don't have it backed up because my computer doesn't have the space to hold all of my songs and I don't have any external drives or anything to store them on.
    Please help!

I have had a very similar problem
-Currently using: Windows XP Home edition with most recent updates
    -2.39Ghz processor, Itunes 5
-IPOD 20GB I only have used up 3.9GB
    Very similar problem
My IPOD has recently had a weird problem after installing Itunes 5. When I first connect the ipod to the computer everything seems to be working fine, because the ipod displays the "please do not disconnect" message, and ITUNES come up on the screen and lets me play music from my ipod only for a brief few minuets. The computer then stops playing the song it was currently playing and I tunes freezes. After that point the only way to unfreeze Itunes is to press select/menu on the ipod. When the ipod restarts and I plug the ipod back into my computer it won't bring I tunes up again, and I am unable to access the ipod drive. A screen comes up after 10 minuets saying I have to reformat my ipod because it can not be read. I have already done so about 10 times and I still have the same problem.
My ipod doesn't freeze when I'm just listening to it with my earphones or on my stereo, but it laggs more thean usual when changeing songs or menus (I have only used up 3.9GB). I have also tried using my ipod on other computers and I get the same problem. Please Help!

  • I have home sharing enabled but still can't get my library to show up on my newly authorized computer, I have a lot of songs imported from CD's, never had to use itunes match or before, please help if you can

I cannot get my library to show up on my newly authorized computer, please help if you can.
I have home sharing enable on old computer and new one.
If I try to sync --I  get the message that ipod can be synced w only one computer and if I sync with this library (which only shows new purchases from itunes)   it will replace everything that is currently on ipod

Why can't the songs be transferred to the device?  Is it because they are not authorized?  Were these 25 tracks purchased/downloaded with the same account you have used to authorize the PC/new iTunes library?

  • When I plug in my iPod Classic, it is visible in My Computer, but iTunes gives error message PLEASE HELP!

When I plug in my iPod Classic, it is visible in My Computer, but iTunes gives an error message saying "The software required for this iPod is not installed corectly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the required software." It started completely randomly and now does it every time. I completely wiped out iTunes and reinstalled it via the intructions from this website, but it is still doing the same thing. Furthermore, when I go to Start, All Programs, the iTunes folder contains no data AND the desktop shortcup does nothing when clicked on. I have to go to Start, Run, and type in itunes.exe in order to run the program. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Do one or more of the following
    > Restart your computer
    > Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes
    > Reset iDevice (won't erase everything)
    > Go to My Computer (windows xp) or Computer (windows vista & 7) and see if iDevice shows
    > Restore the iDevice completely (will erase everything)
    > Make sure the iTunes and/or iOS firmware is up-to-date.
The ones I cross over is the ones you don't have to do. This should help

  • 'Your computer restarted because of a problem' - PLEASE help

    Hi
I need some help with my MacbookPro. It keeps crashing when trying to work at Photoshop CS5 or when opening video on Skype call! I have OS X version 10.8.2.  Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 and Memory 8GB. It's about 2 years old. I use WD My Passport external drives. I use it for work and Photoshop is a crucial part of my everyday work and im UNABLE to use it at the moment.
I took it to Milton Keynes Apple Genius store in September 2012 where they emptied and reinstalled the whole operating system. Full clean up.
After that, my macbook pro worked ok but recently started to crash and auto-restart AGAIN saying 'Your computer restarted because of a problem'.
Please help with some advice what to do. Do I really have to do a full clean up again??? Can't possibly keep doing this.
Is it possible that the new OS doesnt like Photoshop CS5 and Skype video?
    Many thanks in advance

Skype seems to have no problems with 10.8.2, but PhotoShop CS5 most certainly does.
Adobe is the one to address for your issues, apparantly they want you to upgrade to CS6 which has no issues in 10.8.
Your problem is two fold, one it's Apple's fault for their rapid OS X upgrade cycle that is freindly to Apple selling hardware and to consumers, but severly unfriendly to professional users who need consistancy in their "tools" to remain functional.
Adobe and other developers capitalizes on Apple's rapid OS X upgrade cycle to force more money out of users.
My suggestion is too consider very carefully BEFORE upgrading OS X so your third party programs are functional, make clones of your previous machine so you have a means to revert in case the upgrade doesn't go as smoothly as anticipated.
    Most commonly used backup methods
Your options at this point seems to be to consult on the ADOBE forums and find out if and when a update to CS5 will (or will not) be made as to work with 10.8 and if not your options at upgrading to CS6.
Apple is a consumer products company, if you require more stability in your hardware, operating systems and purchased programs, you may want to consider switching to a Windows 7 tower, which are still available if you look for them. Windows 7 will get support and updated until 2020, OS X only for a year then your forced to upgrade it yet again.
Apple is becoming less and less of a professionals choice for computing, and quite frankly that's how they publically have stated is their agenda, to focus on only the consumer tech gadget market.

  • Can't use itunes anymore... please help me!

Every time I try launchin iTunes, I get an error message telling me I have quicktime version "7.0d0" installed and that I need version 7.0.3.
I reinstalled quicktime, now it's version 7.1, reinstalled itunes twice, nothing works..
does anybody know what to do? support won't help me as I bought my ipod over 90 days ago...
    thanks

let's try another careful QT 7.1 reinstall, this time taking a few additional explicit precautions.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes 6
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)
