Connect two ADSL routers

I was using Linksys ADSL router ( WAG120) as modem router. Recently I bought new Linksys x3000 and installed a modem router in place of WAG120. Now i would like to connect the both routers to get the signals in first floor of my house.
Could you please guide me how to do? ( Step by Step )

Would this also be the same if I was connecting a E1500 router (to expand my home network) to an existing X3000 ADSL router? The X3000 is great but unfortunately for me the concrete walls of my villa impede the signal strength to the second floor. I have every room in the villa wired to the X3000. So if I connect the E1500 to the LAN cable in my bedroom on the second floor, which is connected the X3000, would the instructions you provide here be the same? Or do they only apply if both routers are ADSL?

Help, Issues Connecting two Wireless Routers

Ahead of time I would like to thank everyone for their responses and help. I tried to be as clear as possible. I believe I got all the details right. Some things are repetitive and might be a little confusing, but please ask questions for any clarification. Thanks for the help.
Current Routers:
1. Linksys WRT600N ---- Used as primary router. Connected to the 4 ports are 3 PCs and a wireless router. All three PC have static IPs I reservered, also have a static IP reserved for the WGT624 wireless router. DMZ is also enabled and destination is the IP reserved for WGT624.
2. Netgear WGT624 ---- WGT624 is connected to WRT600N through the WAN port on the WGT624 to port number X on the WRT600N . I was using Netgear WGT624 as an access point for a Xbox360 , a couple of macs and ubuntu netbook. This router recently died needs to be replaced.
3. Linksys E3000 ---- Recently purchased to replace the Netgear WGT624 that has died. I want to use this as my new access point. Having trouble setting up the settings for this router. I want the same setup as before.
Detailed Problem
I currently have the WRT600N located in the basement connected to a cable modem through the WAN port. Connected to the 4 ports on the back of WRT600N are 3 PCs and a Wireless router. Most of the settings on the WRT600N I left alone. The only thing I changed was reserving 4 IPs for the 3 PCs and the WGT624 wireless router. I also enabled the DMZ for the destination IP of the WGT624. I also opened a couple of ports.
The Netgear WGT624 that died was located on the upper level third floor. I was using it primarily as an access point. It was connected through the WAN port of the WGT624 to port X on the WRT600N which is located in the basement. Settings on this are a little different. On the WGT624 I disabled the firewall. I left both the Auto DHCP enabled and the DHCP server. WPA was enabled on the WGT624. With these settings on the WGT624 I was able to connect to a xbox 360 and a few macs wirelessly to the internet with no issues . I also noticed that the the internet IP displayed on the status tab on the WGT624 was the IP I had reserved on the WRT600N.
Recently the WGT624 died after years of usage. So I purchased a Linkys E3000. I want to have a similar setup as before with the WGT624. However I have been running into issues. Wirelessly I cannot get access to the internet through the E3000. The E3000 is connected to the WRT600N in the same was as the WGT624. The WAN port of the E3000 is connected to the port number X of WRT600N. On the status tab of the E3000 I seem to be getting a strange Internet IP address. 127.0.0.1. This I think is a loopback address, I am not sure? Same with the subnet mask of 255.0.0.0
So the problem is I want the keep the same setup as before if I can. I don't want to the any computers who connect to the access point to have access to any computers that are connected to the 600N.
I read on another thread I could connect two wireless routers together by connecting port X on the 600N to port X on the E3000. Then changing the internal IP of the second router from 192.168.1.1 to 198.168.1.2 and then disabling the DHCP server.
I really want to keep the same set up as before if posslble. More importantly I want to know why my setup prior, the WRT600N to the WGT624 worked with no problems. Why could I use the WGT624 as an access point and not the E3000? Should I switch the the two routers use the 600N as the access point and E3000 as my main router?

1. You have chained two routers. The WRT600N uses LAN IP address 192.168.1.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The Netgear is connected with the WAN port to the WRT (thus uses an 192.168.1.* address on the WAN port) and uses 192.168.0.1 by default on the LAN side. Your new E3000, however, uses the Linksys default 192.168.1.1 on the LAN side. If you connect the E3000 to the WRT600 without making any changes it won't work. A router cannot work if WAN and LAN side both use 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0. That's impossible.
2. Thus, the quick and easy setup to get the same as before would be to change the LAN IP address of the E3000 from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.0.1. After that change you can connect the internet port of the E3000 to the WRT and everything works like before.
3. However, in particular because you need port forwarding and you do port forwarding through two routers I would recommend not to run two routers chained. I can't see why it is necessary for you to run two routers and two separated networks. The basic setup and an explaination why a different setup may be better is here. I think in your case it would make things much simpler and you have full connectivity between all your computers. You can set up a roaming wireless network, too. The only problem is that you will "loose" one port on the E3000 because you cannot use the internet port.

Connecting two RV082 routers back to back

I'm looking for instructions on how to setup and connect two RV082 routers together with a crossover cable between their WAN ports.
This is to connect two separate LANS together via an ethernet connection. For staging we are setting everything up with a crossover cable in our shop. Ultimately the crossover cable will be replaced by a microwave link between the two LANS several miles apart. There will be no internet connection.

Switches would have been a good alternative except we needed 8 ethernet ports, so 16 port swirtches would have been required. So the cost is about the same in this situation for 8 port routers.
We have the system working properly now.
This is what we did:
On both routers in "Setup: Advanced Routing" switch from "gateway" to "router" , enable RIP and set RIP versions for transmit and receive to RIPv1.
In "Firewall", disable Firewall
Then in "Setup: Network" make the following settings;
Router 1:
WAN1 IP to static       static      192.168.10.5           with subnet mask of                     255.255.255.252
LAN IP           to                     192.168.1.1                     with subnet mask of                     255.255.255.0
Router 2:
WAN1 IP to static      static     192.168.10.6           with subnet mask of                     255.255.255.252
LAN IP to                     192.168.2.1                     with subnet mask of                     255.255.255.0
With these settings, devices connected to router 1 may have static addresses in range of 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.254 and should have default gateway set to 192.168.1.1
Devices connected to router 2 may have static addresses in range of 192.168.2.2 through 192.168.2.254
and should have default gateway set to 192.168.2.1
Experts may have some comments to make about firewall settings an so forth but this setup does what we want it to do.

Connecting two EA6500 routers via wireless bridge

Hi, I want to know how can we bridge two EA6500 routers via wireless. I do not want to use the lan cable. Please help.

This setup is not possible. You can only cascade the routers via wired connection. The access points on these routers are mainly transmitters, they're not receivers so you can't associate them wirelessly. You can, however, get a wireless bridge to do the job. Check out the Dual Band N Entertainment Bridge WET610N and Wireless N Universal Media Connector WES610N.

Connecting Two Wireless Routers HELP!!!!

I recently bought two WRT150N routers. I currently have one connected to my cable modem. I want to setup the second one in another part of my house. How do I connect the second router to the first router that is already connected? I am VERY new in all this. I read somewhere that I would need an Access Point but this router is supposably an "access point". PLEASE HELP ME!!

Connecting two EA2700 routers (wireless) and enable LAN connection on both

I have just bought two EA2700 routers, and I simply cannot perform the setup.
I have the first router connected to the modem, and need the secon router to connect to the first through wireless to extend the range. Secondly, I want to enable LAN connection from the second router to e.g. a computer, PS4 etc.
After having spend a lot of time on searching for at guide, I have given up... I really hope, that you are able to help me on this matter.

Hello Acsadac. Are you setting up the 2nd EA2700 to act as a range extender (wirelessly connected to the 1st EA2700)? If you are, then it's not possible. You can do one of two things, though.
1. LAN to LAN. Configure the 2nd EA2700 as a switch. This will act akin to a range extender (for both wired and wireless connections) but you'll be using a long ethernet cable.
2. LAN to WAN. Configure it as a secondary router. This way, you have 2 separate wireless networks in one connection. Again, you will need a long ethernet cable for this kind of setup.

Hello Experts-
I have TWO Actiontec Routers from Fios. I bought the new N one, and I have an old Actiotec that I was previously not using. So here is what I am trying to do...
I'd like to leave Router 1 (the New N router) as my primary router (comes from ONT via cat5 wire NOT Coax) and Set-up the second router off the first to be a guest router. So essentially make it a bridge.
I can't seem to configure it to work correctly.
Can anyone out there give me a step-by-step walkthru on how to configure this second router so I can have them both hooked up, seperate SSID, with one as the Main and the other being the Guest?

To change the IP address of the Local Area network choose:
My Network
Network Connections
Click edit on the row for "Network (Home/)office"
On the next screen click Settings
On the next screen you can change the LAN (192.168.1.1) address to something different.
On the same screen you can disable DHCP too.

Connecting two wireless routers!?

Recently i got an iMac and now i have everything setup, except the internet. My office PC has a comcast netgear router, and i have an old linkskys router, how would i go about creating a wireless bridge? If it helps to solve the problem, heres some more info:
1)The PC is Windows XP media center
2)The iMac is a Snow g3.
3)The PC is the computer with internet from the wall, every other computer uses the wifi
4)I don't know the exact details of the two routers, but if it helps i could find out
Also, do i need to buy any extra cables or cards? I would like to avoid buying new things, but i will if i have to. My ISP is comcast, they told me that as i needed to get something i could find at my local best buy, but i'm not sure of the specifics.

WDS stands for Wireless Distribution System. It is a means for having a central router to which various wireless access points can connect thus eliminating the need for multiple routers. An access point just provides an external wireless transceiver that connects to a computers Ethernet or USB port. In effect it is like a wireless card. The access point does not create networks but can connect to an existing network created by the central router. The router distributes IP addresses to the access point that in turn is used by the connected device.
Some more modern routers handle the configuration transparently so that the user does not get bogged down in configuration setups. You will have to explore what your cable modem/router does. Only the documentation for it will help you. in the documentation you may well find it explains how to do what you want. You will need the documentation for the LinkSys in order to configure it properly. Otherwise you can hire someone locally to set it all up for you.

Cant connect two linksys routers to each other.

well the routers we have are the WRT54G and the WRTSL54GS but i m not sure about the second one (it has three antenna) . so we have the WRT54G hooked to the modem and its recieving internet and working with the (wired) main computer. so now we have to go about 1 block away to a neighbors house. and we set up the WRTSL54GS set up 1/3 of the way. now the laptop a block away from the main computer is recieving a signal (3 bars) from the WRTSL54GS. but it can not connect to the internet. what am i doing wrong?

Both routers are “transmit” devices and were not made to talk to other routers. You would need a wap54g or third-party firmware to make your router an access point.

I seem to be getting multiple iterations of the same computers on my network. I have 2 apple routers. One is a master the other is in bridge network extend mode.
The iterations look like this:

Yosemite has a number of issues, and this is one of them. Unfortunately, there are no adjustments or settings on the Apple AirPorts, or in AirPort Utility to address the issue of "multiple" Macs, so your question is beyond the scope of this support forum.
You might be able to temporarily fix things by opening System Prefences (gear icon on the dock), the opening Sharing and adjusting the name of the Mac, but no guarantees.

I have two routers Linksys (wrv200 and wrt110). One on one side of the house, the other will be at the other side od the house. Questions:
- Is it possible to wirelessly connect second to frist
- Second willl broadcast the same SSID (wireless and other settings) as the first and will have the function of covering the signal on the other side of the house and outside, where the first virtually could not
- Which one of these two routerja recommend as the first (connect to a modem)
- What is all need to set athe first and second routerj

Connecting two seperate office networks together

Hi folks, really sorry for asking stupid questions but relatively new to the complexities of networks.
We have two offices. Each have their own networks running through wired and wireless routers all back to a single ADSL link. So all can access, share etc. This is simple to set up as each Mac just see's the other and hey presto it works. Cant get my head around manually configuring things though which I presume is the answer to this post.
I need an idiots guide as to how we now get each location to see the other, thus combing these two networks so that office A can now talk to B . I presume this is simple, does anyone have any pointers for us.

Not daft at all. Networks are not easy to configure sometimes, and from reading your message, I may have erred in my understanding of your original post. I guessed they were in the same office complex and separated by a small distance. It should not be necessary to assign an IP number as DHCP works in most situations.
If you have two ADSL routers, this is not going to work. I presumed the words, "single ASDSL link" meant these were sharing the same ADSL. but that appears now not to be the case.
What you seem to say is:
ADSL 1 --> Network 1
ADSL 2 --> Network 2
Each ADSL router will be allocated an external IP address by the service provider (ISP) and the router will allocate a network address which is unrelated to the external IP address.
If you want to link these, you would need some additional software or another way to connect, depending what the purpose is: VPN, Back to My Mac.

Two wireless routers on same home network

hi - i have one wireless router downstairs and i want to install another one upstairs to get better connectivity. I have wired Ethernet jacks around the house and I can connect the wireless router to those. If I do this will I be able to roam around my house; I want to make sure I have one wireless network, not two.

You can as long as they are connected via a wire (using Linksys firmware). In a nut shell you are going to connect the two routers together, router 1 will have IP 192.168.1.1, router 2 will have IP 192.168.2.1. You will turn off DHCP on one of the routers so only one router will be passing out addresses to your devices. You can have the same SSID on both routers but should have different channels like 1&6 (or 6&11 or 1&11) to avoid 'co-channel' interference.

I noticed I cannot browse our home network computers that are behind the other router. currently i have a net connection going to router 1 and a cable from that router going to the wan port on router two.
