Connect WebCenter 11g PS3 to a clustered UCM 11g ?

Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to connect a WebCenter cluster to a UCM cluster.
I have mainly been flowing the [Enterprise Deployment Guide for Oracle WebCenter|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/core.1111/e12037/toc.htm] but in this crucial point the manual just explains how to generally connect webcenter to a ucm server in section "9.14 Registering Oracle Content Server with Oracle WebCenter" .
There seems to be no info in the internet on how to connect a WebCenter cluster to a UCM cluster.
Am I the first one to try that??
regards
Oliver

I have the same problem, we are using RIDC protocol, and have a UCM cluster, but use only one of the nodes..

• Using archiver pointing to a clustered UCM 11g

Hello, I have to migrate content from UCM 10g to 11g but UCM 11g is in a Weblogic cluster. All UCM nodes use the same database schema and have shared filesystem for vault and weblayout. Where do I point the transfer of the archiver? Does it matter which of them the output provider uses to define the archive collection? Any ideas or recommendations?
Thank you very much in advance!
Regards.

Hi ,
It would need to be pointed to one of the UCM servers in the cluster so that it is a single point where the input is done . Since the cluster will all read the same weblayout / vault all the other nodes will be able to show / action on the contents .
Thanks

• What file types are included PDFExportConverter for Oracle UCM 11g (PS3)

For UCM 11g PS3 or later, (WebCenter Content if you prefer), I am trying to find out the list of file types supported for conversion to PDF, and which are out of the box, and which need a 3rd party download.
Is there any documentation that lists supported file types, and how to get any 3rd party converters?
This is very urgent as the customer needs to put in their budget and include any costs associated with 3rd party converters.
Thanks

Hi
I believe this should be good enough to have the details :

• Information Architecure for UCM 11g/WebCenter PS4

Hi
Can anyone share their info architecture findings for UCM/11g and WebCenter PS4 e.g. security model, metadata model, taxonomy approach for managing group spaces. I'm keen to hear if you've put a info governance structure around the content for example - and if so - how did you form it? Where did your security model stope e.g. at Group Space level, or did you have to consider the confidential nature of documents within folders in the group space. Have you add additional metadata fields to help with search?
Regards
Michelle

Wll, it's quiet easy. Webcenter is designed to handle services. UCM is also complettly service oriented so you could create a webapplication with webcenter where you define services from UCM and create your own user interface.
It's nothing more than the fact that webcenter can handle services (WSDL, SOAP).
You could create a site without siteStudio, using webcenter. Nothing wrong with that but don't forget that siteStudio has lots of tools that are great for UCM like the contributor mode. Also, the fragments that are allready build in in siteStudio give a big advantage. If you want to create these things in zebcenter, you'll have to start from scratch.
I do believe Oracle is working on an portal like interface to create portlets and stuff, perhaps they will create some tools special for the use of UCM and webcenter. This offcourse would be very nice

• Webcenter + UCM 11g

Hi people,
Someone knows tell me with I need to some configuration at UCM 11g to use this with Oracle Webcenter 11g R3?
Thanks

The only thing you really need to do different than the 10gr3 UCM configuration is add "IntradocServerPort=4444" to the config.cfg ion UCM 11g. This config is not there by default in 11g but adding it allows the content server to listen on that port just like it always has.

• Oracle UCM 11g Config with DB

Hi,
I have configured Oracle UCM 11g in oracle sql developer, but am not able to see the tables related to Oracle UCM..(ex: Revisions, Docmeta).
Any documentation on this or any one faced this kind of issue.
Thanks...

I'd suggest you to follow the Installation guide - see Oracle® Fusion Middleware Installing and Configuring Oracle WebCenter Content 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) - Contents
In a nutshell, tables (and everything else in the data model) are created by a utility called RCU. This is one pre-req to run the installation. Another issue could be that you have done installation, but you don't use the correct db user (scheme owner) to connect. The correct user for an installed instance can be obtain from the Weblogic admin console.

• Integrate UCM 11g with SES 10g

Hi all,
Does anyone know if it is possible to connect SES 10g with UCM 11g? In the certification matrix of ECM 11g it says:
Installation Type Version Supported Category Product Version Additional Comments / Exceptions
"Oracle UCM Oracle URM" 11gR1 (11.1.1.3+) Search Crawler Integration Secure Enterprise Search 10g (10.1.8.4) 11g (11.1.2) Crawler integration.
"Oracle UCM Oracle URM" 11gR1 (11.1.1.3+) Search (Full-text) Secure Enterprise Search 11g (11.1.2) For use as full-text search engine for UCM.
Does this mean that SES 10g cannot be used as full text search engine with UCM 11g?
Another related question: I seem to recall that starting from UCM 11g documents are stored in the database instead of on the file system by default. Is this true, and does this also require an 11g database version? I cannot find anything about this in the installation guide.
Regards,
Stijn

Hi Bill,
Unfortunately we're dealing with a Windows stack, and SES 11g isn't out yet for Windows.
Regarding your second point: you guys at Fishbowl really have a solution for everything ;-).
Have you also been able to solve the question I posted here: Region templates from Site Studio used in Webcenter applicaton
@Stijn wrote:
Basically we're developing a portal application in WebCenter and we want to store pages as content in UCM. We also want to make use of the Site Studio
contribution editor as this is the only way I see to be able to have a rich text editor with inline images.
Btw: what I'm still looking for is a way for a user to easily upload and use an image from within the rich text editor. The basic feature is that when you want to
insert an image, a search result of images is shown. This isn't really useful, as the number images might also increase to a 1000 or more.

• UCM 11g Base version

Hi,
We are planning to migrate our system from ucm 10g to 11g.
Current Set up : Webcenter 11g 11.1.1.4. It was upgraded from 11.1.1.2 to 11.1.1.4
When we had Webcenter 11.1.1.2 we were using the ucm 10g version which was compatible. Now since we have upgraded the Webcenter to PS3 version we had to upgrade the ucm to 11.1.1.4.
1. Download the 11.1.1.4 version and upgrade.
2. Do we have any base version in ucm as in webcenter for which 11.1.1.2 is a base version on top of which
further upgrade can be made ?. If so can you please let me know the version.
Regards,
Bhaskar

Hi
Webcenter and UCM share the same versioning method and the first version that you will install is termed as the base version . So if I download the latest UCM and install it for me it is the base version . Now any upgrade on top this will be upgrading the base .
I would suggest you to download Patch 12395130 and apply it on UCM which will upgrade your system to the most latest release in ECM . It will be 11.1.1.5.0
Hope this helps .
Thanks

• Get Realm form Jdeveloper using Soa 11g PS3

Hi
I've a problem with jdeveloper authentication with a Oracle SOA 11g PS3.
I've successfully installed the DemoSeed Community into the server, i've checked into "secutiry realm->myrealm->users and groups" and i found all the seed users.
During the developing of a simple BPM composite with a Human Task, i try to edit the Roles tab into the Organization function and ad a new role "Productor" but when i've tried to associate Members to this new role jdeveloper does not show any realm or any user form the "Identity Lookup" pop-up window.
I've checked the server log and found an exception referenced to this case, the exception was:

Hi Stefano,
Is this an upgraded instance of PS3?
I'd check the installation steps again. See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/doc.1111/e16793/patch_set_installer.htm
Specifically:
3.8.5.3 Run soa-upgrade.py to Update the Policy Store and Deploy a Shared Library
3.8.9 Adding New OWSM Pre-Defined Policies

• Get Realm Jdeveloper Soa 11g PS3

<OWS-04086> <oracle.fabric.common.PolicyEnforcementException: PolicySet Invalid: WSM-06102 PolicyReference The policy referenced by URI

Stefano,
You may have better luck asking on one of the SOA Suite forums.

• Oracle UCM 11g Vs Oracle UCM10g

Hi,
I want to know the difference between Oracle UCM11g and Oracle UCM10g.
1. Whats the primary benefit for the client for chosing Oracle UCM 11g than Oracle UCM 10g.
2. Whats are all the changes added in UCM11g from customization perspective.
- Is Component Architecture is followed in UCM 11g
- Is IdocScript/Resource ,Template,Service,Service Handler,Filter are still exist and customization is possible through them?
Thanks & Regards,
Karai

biggest differences
1. You need WebLogic for 11g. 11g UCM runs as a java application inside of WLS.
2. WLS handles all security. UCM no longer controls security. There are NO local users (except for running the stand alone apps) anymore. All users are outside in a AD or LDAP store of some kind.
Ramifications:
1. For large enterprise systems the clustering and management available for WLS make a system extremely scalable.
2. Any beneficial properties of WLS now apply to UCM (there are many but I am not a WLS expert)
3. if UCM is all you need and you are not planning a clustered system and your hardware is not the most current.... then maybe 10 g is a better choice. Maybe.
4. Customization for the CS is unchanged, but things like security being different will break some customizations. As with any upgrade some includes and some resources change and thus break an existing component. Test custom components fully.

• UCM 11g with IBR 10g

Anyone try to connect UCM 11g to IBR 10g?
I've tried it but unfortunately got the following error
"No server defined for FUILD_CURRENT_JOB_STATUS. Exception type is 'java.lang.Throwable'.

Hi,
Even though i am not tried with your configuration settings but looking at your error message it say "No server defined for FUILD_CURRENT_JOB_STATUS".
Have you done setup for IBR using Providers at Content server(Here you will mention you IBR server details)....?
Thanks,

• Problem invoking UCM 11g Web services from ODI 11g

We have a running UCM 11g instance with its web services (GenericRequest) properly configurated.
The wsdl is published in the url http://ucmt:16200/idcws/GenericSoapPort?WSDL and reacheble from any web browser.
The service can be easily invoked from external applications such as soapUI 4.5.1 returning the correct SOAP response. Here is a sample request returning correct results:
<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:ucm="http://www.oracle.com/UCM">
<soapenv:Header/>
<soapenv:Body>
<ucm:GenericRequest webKey="cs">
<ucm:Service IdcService="DOC_INFO">
<ucm:User></ucm:User>
<ucm:Document><ucm:Field name="dID">27099</ucm:Field></ucm:Document>
</ucm:Service>
</ucm:GenericRequest>
</soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
The problem occurs when we invoke it from the ODI assistant, when we type the WSDL URL and click in "Connect to WSDL" button,
we get the following error in the middle pane : Invalid Request : java.lang.NullPointerException+
The port combo and the operation pane are correctly populated
UCM version is: 11gR1-11.1.1.6.0-idcprod1-121115T130554 (Versión Interna:7.3.3.183)
ODI version is: 11.1.1.6.0
Java(TM) Platform     1.6.0_30

I would suggest contacting support channel to analyze such NPE if there is a product bug causing it.

• How to learn UCM 11g from scratch

From where should I learn UCM 11g I am new to this product.WebCenter Content

Hemant,
You will need a test system, use VirtualBox as you can undo any disasters by taking snapshots. If you don't know how to configure and administer managed servers in Weblogic Server then learn that first - just how to configure UCM and Node Manager so you can start and stop it from the Admin Server console.
It is worth learning to install Webcenter Content on Linux ( I recommend Oracle 6.6) and also on Windows if you want to use Enterprise Capture with Recognition but if you are impatient to start with UCM, Oracle have a ready-made VM with just about everything you need installed. Oracle WebCenter Portal 11.1.1.8 Virtual Machine | Oracle Technology Network | Oracle. You may need to patch the installation, I don't know what patch level it is set to.
When reading the Oracle documentation Make sure you get the WCC UCM documentation not the IPM documentation. Make lots of bookmarks and when you see "for more information on..." open the link in a new tab or you will get lost seven levels down when you realise you are back to the same page you started from.
Learn the security model, a group in Weblogic Server with the same names as a Role in UCM will be granted the Role's access, how to use content types, rules and profiles. if you have experience with any other DM systems, know that metadata fields in UCM are not attributes of a document class, they are attributes of the system and present for all documents unless you filter them out with Rules.
Know also that there are two Web UIs so when you read the latest documentation the screenshots are from the latest Web UI. I don't know if it has been installed in the Portal VM but if you want to install it, read the Support article 1618305.1, it is not simple.
