Connect Win7 in Virtualbox to external server (not host)

Hello,
I was looking now for 2,5 days in the Internet but I did not find a solution. I hope, you can help me.
Following situation:
1. Server with openSuSE Linux running VirtualBox: IP: 192.168.0.3, dedicated hardware
2. Server with openSuSE Linux running Samba: IP: 192.168.0.2, dedicated hardware
3. Win7 running inside VirtualBox on Server#1, Default setting, one network adapter with NAT, IP: 10.0.2.15
I want to connect Win7 running in Vbox with the external Samba Server#1. Shared folders in the sense of Virtualbox do not work because it's a different hardware.
After starting the network wizzards inisde Win7 I do not see the Samba server. I assume this is because it's a totally different IP range. I extended the default NAT settings with port forwarding for the ports 137, 138, 139 and 445 but still no success.
I forgot to say that Samba is running fine. I can access the server with other PCs (not virtual ones). Those PCs have IPs in the range of 192.168.0.xxx.
What is running wrong?
Can You please help me?
Thank You in advance!
Best regards
Wolfgang

Hello Dude,
Thank You for Your reply. I'm aware about the issues of Win7 and Samba and I did those things concerning Registry changes etc. However, it still doesn't work. I have  a notebook running Win 7 and there I see the Samba server, so it has something to do with the virtualization.
For checking porposes I installed Win XP inside in a Virtualbox and here I also saw only ressources inside the virtualization. Also for XP I doublechecked the connection with another old XP Laptop and this could be connected to Samba and even became a member of the Samba domain.
To summarize:
Access to Samba works with dedicated hardware with Win7 and WinXP
Access to Samba from some virtual boxes with XP and Win7 does not work.
Is there any other idea?
Best regards
Wolfgang

  • MAC os x can connect to internet but shows Youtube server not available.

I am trying to connect to youtube on safari and firefox as well but I keep getting a message that the youtube serve is not available.  I can hook up to it with my labptop Dell, but my apple will not let me and it has been a month now.

Thanks,  Neville Hillyer. Your advice was helpful, but in os 10.4, mail 2.1.3, and Comcast setup advice online there were some port differences that solved the problem. Thanks to NH I saw the SSL option was not consistent on outgoing versus incoming; saw two different sequences to use mail preferences for setting up incoming versus outgoing; and saw on COMCAST set-up that they like 2 different port numbers. My other newer Macs have not had this problem (yet) which seems strange since I saw port 110 in all my Macs.
    Mail preferences:
a-- accounts Information tab type POP, my userid, mypassword, and on advanced tab incoming port  should be 995, SSL checked, Authentication should be Password
b-- accounts information incoming server mail.comcast.net, my userid and mypassword, outging server smtp.comcast.net:myuserid, server settings port 465, SSL checked.
c-- in this old version mail 2.1.3, there is not save button until I select another account and a pop-up indicates my account changed and offered the save button which I selected. Mail then asked for my account's password; after I entered it, the outgoing test emails went out immediately.
    Mail sending works again.

  • Connected to internet via ethernet but server not responding

I have browsed some threads on this topic but none gave me an answer, and my set up is not quite the same as those that I've read. I don't want to hijack another thread and confuse the readers. I would be very grateful for help on this issue.
I have connected a G3 imac to a G5 imac with ethernet cable and both are configured for file sharing following the instrauctions on this help site. Both machines communicate and file sharing is okay.
Now I want to share the dial-up internet connection of the G3 with G5 over this ethernet connection. I have configured both machines following instructions on this site. At the moment file and web sharing is enabled on both machines.
In sharing preferences/internet internet sharing is turned on on the host (the one connected to the internet)
In sharing/firewall personal web-sharing is checked on both machines
In built-in-ethernet/TCP/IP config IPv4 is off on both, although i have tried it with IPv4 set to using DHCP on the host, and then on both
    No proxies are set
I have tried it with Appletalk both on and off on both machines
In network status internal modem is at the top of the list on the host and ethernet is at the top on the guest and both say that they are connected to the internet. The ethernet appears as connected to the internet with green light even when the host computer is not connected to the internet.
Yesterday I was able to browse using IE in windows XP running on virtual PC on the guest (G5) but this is the only time it's worked and I don't know what i did for that to happen. I only wanted to run a software activation on the G5 but the message unable to establish a connection appears.
I followed the help in virtual PC to share the Macs internet connection with windows, but havn't been able to connect to internet using the browsers on the OS X system. Tried altering browser preferences as well with no joy.
Everything works fine on the G3
I don't know where to go next.

  • Adobe DPS: connect custom stores front to external server?

I found this page which has instructions on how to create a custom store front. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite/articles/dps-custom-store.html#articlec ontentAdobe_numberedheader_2 My question is, would I be able to host the folio files myself (ie. change the serviceUrl from edge.adobe-dcfs.com to one of my own)? My users would download my custom multi folio viewer app and then connect to my webserver where they could download and view folios hosted by me. Is this possible? Nothing in the API seems to suggest this.

    Ok, I figured as much.
If I need to interface with the Adobe Distribution Service, is it possible to do this from an app other than the provided multi-viewer? eg. Can I use the DPS API in my own app?
As I'm sure you've gathered, I'm tring to interface folio files into a larger project.

Did you empty your browser cache before typing in your url into your web browser?
Did you type in the url directly rather than clicking on the visit site button?
Have you actually published your site?
Are you using iWeb built in ftp?  If you are then perhaps try publishing your site to a local folder from iWeb and using an ftp client such as Cyberduck to upload your site to your server.

  • Network adapter could not establish a connect from external server

    hi,
I've set up a jdbc thin driver properly using
    the following input:
    "jdbc:oracle:thin:@ipaddress:1521:DBname",
    "username", "password"
When outside users try to connect externally (outside the network) there is a different ipaddress. Although they are able to ping,
telnet, run jsp etc... using the external address, they get the following error when they try the thin driver connection:
i/o exception: network adapter could not establish a connection
They change the ipaddress in the connection string to match the external ip. We are using oracle 8i, JRun on Linux. I have a feeling it has something to do with the tnsnames.ora file but I can't be sure.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

    this is expected behavior ...
the jdbc thin driver requires the use of an ip address that the calling program has acces to ...
internally you have one ip address exposed.
apparently you have another ip address set up for the external customer.
    fyi
jdbc thin driver don'ts use the tnsnames.ora file -- they use "host:port:sid" because they are required to be platform independent and not access local datafiles or environment variables on the execution platform.
jdbc oci drivers do use tnsnames.ora which provides the host:port:sid info in their entries.

  • External HDs NOT showing in finder on Mac Mini Server

On my brand new mac mini server. for the life of me, I can't work out why my 3 external firewire plus the thunderbolt drive we use as the actual drive we all connect to one the network, just will not show either on the desktop OR in the left column of the finder?
I have gone into finder preferences and selected External disks and no joy. am I missing something?  In fact, I'm fairly sure that at least the thunderbolt HD was showing when I first got it a week ago with teh mac mini.?
Superduper and disk utility CAN see them and this is the ONLY way I can do a safe eject currently as I have no other way to eject.
What might be happening do you think?

  • Message via SM59 "HTTP connection to external partner" not sent to partner

I have a scenario where I am supposed to send a message to an external partner using https. I have created the HTTP connection in SM59 "HTTP connection to external server" and selected the default certificate. This connection is referenced in the http receiver CC in PI 7.1, but when I send the iDoc message from the backend it is not sent out of PI to the external partner.
There are no apparent errors in the trace files in SMICM on the PI system, but our firewall guys say, that they cannot see the outgoing call in our firewall and the external partner cannot see the message either.
There is connection to the external server from the PI server, which has been confirmed by a telnet connection.
We think that there might be a problem on our web server, but we are not sure.
We have previously succeeded in calling an other server at the external partner from the PI system using a different client certificate. When we do a connection test in SM59 we get an error 500 but the external partner can see the GET request in their firewall.
Any suggestions are more than welcome
    MIkael

The error message appears in the call adapter pipeline step before the supposed mapping is supposed to take place. The error message is:

  • Clients not getting DHCP from external server

    Hi,
I have a 4402 (version 7.0.235) working with 10 units of 1121 APs connected to it. The WLC is not configured to work in LAG mode. Physical portt #1 is connected to the Main Switch (trunk). I have 3 WLAN mapped to 3 Different VLAN and Everything (security and internal, external DHCP) is working swell...
Now- I have connected Physical port #2 directly to an ADSL Router (giga port), Configured Port 2 as untaggedwith the proper IP details.
I have configured this interface to receive DHCP from the ADSL Router and for some reason, Clients are not getting addresses.
When I assign a Static address to my laptop I get internet access and all is nice. I tried configuring The WLC internal DHCP server (instead of the ADSL router) and that didn't help. It seems like a DHCP problem but I dont understand the source of the problem of think of the solution.
When turning off the proxy settings I noticed that it helped. Is there anything to do with that? The problem was that after a while the other WLANs starting causing DHCP issues as well.
What is supposed to be configured? Any Expert is the House?
    I attached a crappy drawing..

    Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your answer.
So what you are basicly saying is that I have 2 choices: 1 - disable the Proxy option on the WLC and work with external DHCP servers (internal will not work when this is enabled). 2 - Enable the Proxy option and only work with the WLC internal DHCP.
I have installed many WLCs this way, having Different DHCP Servers (external and internal)  for multiple WLANs.
What do you think may be different this time? The router that I am using isn't the most expencive but it is providing DHCP to other clients (wired client) with no problems.
    Thanks!!!

  • Mail does not retain correct external server path for Exchange Server '07 even when "automatically detect and maintain account settings" is unchecked. Advice?

Mail keeps resetting the external server path for an Exchange server '07 account when the program is closed and reopened. This happens even though "automatically detect and maintain account settings" is unchecked. To reset to the correct setting I need to disable the account, make the change and save with the account disabled, close Mail, reopen Mail, and enable the account. Then the settings are maintained and Mail works great... until Mail is closed and reopened again. At that point the server path reverts to an incorrect setting. Anyone else experiencing this? Advice? I don't think this is a problem with the Exchange server because this problem did not happen with OS X Mavericks.

This this to fix repeated password requests....
    Open Keychain Access in Applications/Utilities
Search for your Dreamhost accounts. There should be two entries (incoming, outgoing) for each account.
It's not uncommon to find old entries. You might want to delete all and start clean. The Keychain isn't smart and will keep all old entries when you add/change a password.
While you are in the Keychain run Keychain First Aid, Under Keychain Access in the Menu bar.
    Open Mail
    Open Connection Doctor.
If you see red for the account, enter the password again.
If you continue to have problems, delete the account then add it back.
