Connect wireless keyboard to imac

How do I get my wireless keyboard to connect to my iMac?  Both keyboard and mouse work fine with my MacBook Pro, but only the mouse is working with the IMAC?

Is the iMac a model built before the year 2006?
...Does your iMac run vintage Mac OS 9.2, pre-OS X?
{If not, you posted a question in a vintage PPC non-intel
discussion area that covers older architecture Macintosh
which cannot run an OS X later than Leopard 10.5.8.}
•Bluetooth - Apple Support:

You'd have to pair the BT keyboard with iMac; they
can only be paired to one device/computer at a time.
Hopefully any additional answers will be found
in the Bluetooth Support site linked above.
Good luck

Put the keyboard in pairing mode then go into the settings on the ATV and pair them.
This is a bluetooth keyboard, correct?

How do you connect wireless keyboard to ipad?

Go to Settings -> General -> Bluetooth. Turn on the iPad Bluetooth service and then the keyboard. They should find each other.
BTW it's tricky to disconnect them. If you don't turn off the keyboard while it's paired, the iPad virtual keyboard won't work properly. Check the manual.
The green light on the keyboard doesn't stay on all the time the keyboard is on, just for a few seconds after each change of state.
The bluetooth keyboard - iPad combination is a very effective writing tool. The keyboard is very responsive.

  • No connection between wireless keyboard and IMac

I had to change batteries in my wireless keyboard for my Imac. After that I did not manage to reestablish the connection between the keyboard and the machine. I did not manage to get the blue tooth going again before I went to bed and the session timed out , my IMac is now locked and since my keyboard does not work I am not able to type the password. How can I solve this?

Are the batteries installed properly?  Have you tried other batteries?
Have you read for possible solutions over in the "More Like This" thread over here?----------------------->

  • HT2452 just got a replacement wireless keyboard for imac but comp doesn't recognize it and won't connect. can't type or use it. any suggestions?

Just got a relpacement wireless keyboard for my imac but the computer won't recognize it and b/c i can't use the keyboard (type) there's little troubleshooting i can do. how do i reconnect this? thanks!

You may need a wired keyboard to carry out some of these steps. It's a good idea to keep a cheap wired keyboard and mouse or trackball as backups for a desktop Mac anyway, because Bluetooth isn't completely reliable.
    Step 1
Follow the instructions in these support articles:
How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard
Apple Wireless Keyboard: Difficulty during pairing process
    Step 2
The keyboard should pair automatically when you reboot. You may have to press and hold the power button on the right side of an Apple keyboard until the LED starts flashing.
    Step 3
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    Step 4
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Reboot.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
    See these support articles:
Bluetooth keyboard may not pair during Setup Assistant
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference
Bluetooth: Unreliable wireless performance may occur when USB 3.0 external devices are close
    Step 6
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • How to connect wireless keyboard to new machine for setup?

I have a new Mac Mini Lion Server and only have wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. When I startup the Mac Mini and turn on the mouse and keyboard, mouse is connected but keyboard is not. I do not have a USB keyboard. How can I get the Mac Mini to recognize the wireless keyboard?

Having the same problem right now. Got my Mac Mini yesterday. tried to set it up but the keyboard from my windows computer didn't map. Went and bought a wireless keyboard and magic pad today, couldn't get it to work. will try your advise tomorrow. if that doesn't work, will return the whole package and get another windows PC. i do like my iPhone though. Maybe Apple should stick with making phones. Very disapointed for my wasted time and lack of explanation.

  • Connecting Yamaha keyboard to iMac through Midi

    Help!!
I am trying to connect my keyboard to my iMac (10.5.8) for GarageBand. It is going from Midi out to USB. I went into the Utilities pane and saw the keyboard there. I went into GarageBand under preferences and it stated that it detected 1 midi device - however I can not hear it. There is no option in the drop down menu for me to select it. I downloaded the driver for the M-Audio cable I am using and installed it. That didn't seem to make a difference.
    Any suggestions?

make sure the controller is connected to the interface correctly:

  • Pairing new wireless keyboard to imac?

Old wireless keyboard crapped out; replaced with a new one. My iMac is password protected and the keys on the old aren't working so I'm trying to figure out how to get past sign on screen to pair up the new keyboard. Please help me!

If you have a USB keyboard & mouse - even from a PC, they can be used with your iMac.  Although juxtaposed in relation to the space bar (when comparing a Mac and Windows keyboard), the Windows logo key functions as the Apple Command key and the Alt key is the alt/option key.  This should solve your problem.  I assume that a battery change in the old wireless keyboard didn't make a difference.

  • Unable to connect wireless keyboard after changing batteries

The keyboard in switched on, batteries changed but it still doesn't connect. All systems are up to date.

Found the solution myself... The MacBook is not so happy about the iPad having it´s Bluetooth switched on as well... Realised this when the iPad suddely woke up beside me as I typed on the wireless keyboard...

How to connect my wireless keyboard to IPad3?

Well, hopefully its a bluetooth keyboard. If thats the case, turn on bluetooth on your ipad (in general>setting>bluetooth) and then turn on your keyboard. The ipad should discover it and then you will be asked to pair it--so hit the dialogue in the ipad and you should be good.
    Hopefully this helps.

  • Troubles with wireless keyboard and iMac

My iMac won't recognize most of the keys on my wireless keyboard. Only several of the function keys seem to work. I've even tried replacing it with a new wireless keyboard, which worked to type in the pairing codes but also wouldn't enter any text into the password field. Since I'm stuck at the login screen and can't enter my password, I can't access any of the software troubleshooting programs that apple support recommends. I just ran an update several days ago. Could that have caused troubles?

    1) You need to go into more detail as to the trouble with the wireless keyboard
    2) Why can't you get a USB one? You can't order one online? Borrow one from someone?
Without some kind of text entry to enter the password this is going to be difficult.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard on iMac 20

Good morning everybody, two months ago i have installed an apple wireless keyboard model M9270T/A (not aluminium), model with numeric pad.
It runs properly since yesterday, when it stops to run.
I have tried to reinstall, it is discovered, but it doesn't linked and the led continue to lamp. So the system tells me that this bluetooth configuration is not supported by this Os X (but until yesterday it runs properly!?!?)
    I have:
    1) replaced the batteries
    2) followed strictly what reported on support (turn off the keyboard, follo guidelines, update the latest version of software)...
No way...does anyone can help me?
    Thanks in advance

Did you manage to get around your issue without resorting to a wired keyboard? My brother has the same issue.
