Connect X200 to TV from VGA port

I need to connect my Lenovo thinkpad X200 (not the tablet) to a TV.
My TV is not an LCD but has an svideo input, 3 color standard RCA and Scart.
Could someone advise if this model can be connected to a TV and what cable is required?
Thank you

you would need a vga to s-video converter box.

  • I am unable to set up my new Time Capsule with my BT Home Hub - every time i connect the ethernet cable from Wan port to Home Hub, the internet signal drops

    Hi there -
I've just purchased a new Time Capsule, and would like to set up a small home network with my Laptop, iMac and wireless printer. I'm following the first steps, but as soon as I connect an ethernet cable between the WAN port of the TC and the ethernet port of the HH, my BT internet connection drops out and I have to restart the HH. Upon which point it drops out again. The airport utility can see my TC, and gets as far as me typing in the new network name and setting up a password, but then it can't quite get through to the next stage. All the time it's just flashing amber.
    Please help!

Setup the TC in bridge mode before you cannot it to the HH.
Simply do the setup fully in isolation. And do it by ethernet.
Setup wireless to create a wireless network.
You can use either same SSID =Wireless name as the HH .. same security same password.
Or use a different name and setup.. totally up to you.
Update the TC and then plug it into the HH by ethernet.

  • Cable that will connect to a VGA port on a TV from my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)

    Hi,
The HDMI port on my Maxent tv is not working.  I am hoping to connect my MacBook Pro to the TV via the VGA port on the TV to watch Netflix and movies.  What cables do I need that will connect to a VGA port on a TV from my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)?  And will that cable support audio or will I need a separate audio cable?
    Thanks-
    Sheri

    Hi Sheri,
The Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro models have a Mini DisplayPort for video out, which can be connected to a VGA connector using Apple's adapter. See this product page -
Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)
VGA does not carry an audio signal.

  • How can I connect an ADC to an iMac G4 with mini-VGA port?

I have an Apple Studio Display monitor that I want to connect to my iMac G4 that has a mini-VGA port. I have the ADC to DVI adapter, but cannot find any adapters that go from DVI to mini-VGA. Please help!
I "inherited" these devices for work from a different university. They originally used the extra monitor with a PowerBook G4 that has a DVI port. But I would rather use it with the iMac - is it at all possible???
    Thanks!
    iMac PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   1.0 GHz 768MB DDR SDRAM

    Hi,Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Depending on the age of the iMac G4 depends on what outputs are possible:
700/800MHz - Mini VGA port to VGA port
1.0/1.25GHz - Mini VGA port to VGA port or Mini VGA to S-Video/Composite.
I'm not sure if the first revision of 1.0GHz iMac (Early 2003) fell in to the first category or the latter one.
regardless... these adpators are available at theApple Store online for $19/£15. From there you'd need to find a VGA - DVI convertor and then the DVI to ADC convertor. Googling for such adaptors brings up several results.

  • Satellite P750 - Unable to connect external screen via VGA port

    Hello All,
    My problem is following:
I have been trying to connect my P750 (running on W7 x-64) to an external screen using the VGA port/cable. Unfortunately the external devices does not recognize my laptop. Laptop does recognise the external screen, you can see it in the graphic settings as additional display, but the screen says "no signal".
The computer always identifies the screen correctly, so it looks like there is communication from the screen to the PC, but not the other way round.
This has been checked with 3 separate screens and a TV - always the same. All the screens work properly with different PC's.
    I already did:
    - try to play with FN+F5 / "windows"+P buttons - no change
    - install the latest BIOS and Video drivers from Toshiba website - no change
Any suggestions how to make it work? Is it possible that the VGA port is faulty?
    Thank you in advance.

Hello and thank you for the tips,
I did try the options you suggested unfortunately with no success.
I actually got myself HDMI cable and this connection is working perfectly well. Luckily the very screen I want to attach my laptop to does have HDMI port. It is just a bit annoying to know that the d-sub port seems to be useless.
The lady from Toshiba tech support call centre suggested either OS re-install or sending it to Toshiba for repair/check as it is still under warranty. None of this options suites me at the moment, so I will probably stick to the HDMI. Still, I have a feeling it is a software rather than hardware problem.
    Cheers

    Hey Sheri Lynn,
Thanks for the question. Our online store has a helpful tool that should guide you through the process of picking the best adapter for your MacBook model. You can check it out here:
Get help choosing Mac video adapters - Apple Store (U.S.)
    http://store.apple.com/us/mac/mac-accessories/cables/cable-chooser#!
If you are connecting via VGA you will need a separate audio cable if your TV supports it.

  • Connecting VGA port to CRT TV

    Hi,
I have HP elitebook 8440p. Specifications are :
    http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13520_na/13520_na.html
I might need to connect it to my CRT TV with RCA/S video/component available in TV . Laptop has  VGA port, does this VGA port support TV out to CRT TV thru RCA/S video/Component.Second,I also do have docking station with laptop.Docking station comes with DVI port. If I connect DVI output to CRT TV RGB using adapter would it work .
Do I need convertor to connect vga out/DVI out of this laptop to CRT TV or just an adapter would work.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Thanks,Vikas

    Hi,
Yeah, I got the mini-dvi to video adaptor as I found I already had a mini jack to red and white audio lead so it was the cheapest option... the audio quality is pretty great.. the video is a little softer than i thought it would be (but a crt is bound to soften a little) but pretty good... ive got a 16:9 crt and a widescreen 13" macbook but trying to get these widescreen QT files i have to play back in the right format with out losing too much off the edges was a bit tricky.. quite a lot of trial and error before i got the settings right...
i got it to playback QT movies and stuff directly from a slideshow or from imovie... if you want to watch dvd's id just get a cheap dvd player.. the scart input on a basic dvd player will give you better quality and much less fiddling than going via your mac to a CRT...

  • TV signal from T60p VGA port ?

    Hi !
I would like to connect my T60p laptop to a TV. I saw VGA to RCA/S-Video cables available, but they require to have support for TV (RCA/S-Video) output through VGA port.
This is the recommendation from the VGA to Svideo/RCA cable seller: "please be sure to check the manual of your system to make sure the Video Card of your system supports TV (RCA/S-Video) output through VGA port. Not every Video card will work with this adaptor. Only certain Video cards which have TV Output function built into VGA port will work through this adaptor "
Can someone tell me if the T60p ATI Mobility FireGL V5250 video adapter supports this ? so I would not need to buy a more expensive VGA to TV converter, but just get the VGA-to-Svvideo/RCA cable.
    Thanks,
    Laszlo

If your older TV has either component (seperate RGB inputs) or VGA input with separate left/right audio jacks, you should be able to use either Apple's component or composite video cables. I have an iPad1 and I output Netflix from my iPad using the composite video cable as iPad1 doesn't output HD video, but standard VGA. Works great!

  • How to connect Portege M700 to TV using VGA port?

I bought a VGA to S-video/audio adapter and connected it to my VGA port and to the TV.
    Nothing happened.
In control panel.... no other display/external display was detected.
The only postings I have come across use a port emulator or something.
I have the Portege M700 preinstalled with Vista Business tablet.
Any ideas would be most welcome.
    Thanks

    Thanks for answering.
I used an adapter which plugs into the VGA port on my M700 and allows either audio/display or S-video to connect to it. That is what I used, trying to connect via S-video or scart... and I'm afraid it did not work for me ;-(
It is a VGA to S-video/audio convertor.
Here is thye ebay link to the adapter I bought for this:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VGA-to-TV-Converter-S-Video-RCA-Out-Cable-Adapter-UK_W0QQitemZ120343643231QQihZ002QQcategoryZ41993QQ tcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
I may be doing something stoopid... I hope I am but it worries me that if it works for you, there must be something wrong with my notebook :-(
The graphics adapter shows "single display" and the multiple display option is not available there.
I am confused as my old laptop used to work just fine.
I am wondering if there is something I need to activate, but there is nothing in the bios setup or control panel.
I just physically connected them and then clicked on the "connect to external display" as well as checking the graphics options.
Perhaps the cable is the wrong one ?

  • Connect to Dual-Link DVI-D port on monitor using DVI-D to VGA adapter -- getting no signal

I have a T400.  I am trying to connect to a dual-link DVI-D port on my LG monitor via the VGA port on my T400 laptop. I bought a DVI-D to VGA adapter, but I am getting no signal.
Do I need some other method or adapter or cable?  Monitor works fine for VGA to VGA connection.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I happened onto this thread while searching for a way to connect my T400 to my wife's 27" iMac. What I learned thus far is that Atlona makes a device (AT-DP400) that will convert dual link DVI to Mini DisplayPort. But Atlona says that one's graphic card must support 2560x1440. The T400 doesn't have a DVI out (nor does my current docking station), but it sounds like one can get a docking station that does. But that won't help if my card won't support 2560x1440. So are you saying that there is no way I will be able to use the 27" iMac as a monitor for the T400?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer).
On the basis of the specifications you have given for your set up, mirroring should work.

  • LCD becomes fuzzy after connects with T61p through VGA port

    Hello,
I have a Dell E207WFP LCD which is previously connected to a Dell desktop through VGA. Today I connect it to my T61p through VGA using the same cable. I am able to setup the resolution as native resolution which is 1680*1050 @ 60Hz. However, I found that the screen is obviously fuzzy than connect to the desktop. The font is not sharp. I tried to adjust the cleartype font in Win7 and the bright and contrast in the LCD but nothing helps. I connect it back to the desktop and it works fine... Both computers run Win7. Could you please let me know what could be the possible reason? Thank you very much!
My T61p uses FX 570m video card.

This is hard to judge without a picture. It could just be a low-quality VGA port which is not a defect but an attribute or a nature of many laptop VGA ports.
Remember that the VGA is an analog-type video connector and some sort of blurriness is to be expected, especially at higher resolutions, this is because the GPU processes the image digitally as well as the LCD, but the VGA is analog so the image has to go through 2 conversions.
In conclusion: VGA is great for use in projectors and other devices with resolution no higher than 1280x1024. Above this resolution, defects are likely to appear.
For higher resolutions I'd suggest purchasing the Advanced Mini Dock which features the digital DVI port.
