Connected Macbook to HD Tv but only shows background, no applications

Hey,
So I was able to connect my macbook to my HD Tv from a mini Dvi to Dvi adapter then used a belkin HDMI to Dvi chord to connect to the Tv. Displays fine however the only thing that comes up on my TV is just my background image, no applications or websites or anything. Looked all through system pref's and couldnt find anything.

Theoretically the highest that your television will allow, however this will depend to some extent on personal preference. i would experiment and see which you like best.

My ipod classic (80 GB, from 2006) is connected to a new computer, but only sync 241 songs, out 1825. I have restored several times. How can I fix this? my old computer is damaged and the new one run on Windows 8.

I ran into this same problem earlier with my new iPod classic 160 gb. Turns out it could be your files show in iTunes but they aren't connected to the location those music tracks are actually located.
Does this make any sense?
You basically have to make sure iTunes is picking your songs from the right music folder via your preferences.
Option 1: If your iTunes is completely wiped blank and your music is stored in a safe place, backed up, etc. You can do the following:
Step A. Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder
**** please be sure to pick a location that is new or different from where you ACTUALLY stored your music to prevent your files from deleting itself as it updates****
For example, if you stored your music on your Desktop then you wouldn't choose your music folder to be the one in Desktop. You choose the folder where you want your music to go such as C:\My Music or in Mac, you choose the music folder.
Step B. Once you choose the folder where all your music is stored and you check the box that says "Keep iTunes Media Folder organized" and "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library."
Step C. This is the part that will make sense. Drag the folder on desktop that houses all your music into iTunes. Because you checked the box "Copy Files to iTunes Media when adding to library," iTunes will copy all the backup music you dragged into the folder location you designated it in "Preferences > iTunes Media Folder Location > choose folder."
---- once all that is done, your itunes will have ALL your music tracks linked to the right location on your computer and your iPod will sync with as many or all of the music you desire.

Upgraded ram to 8gb but only show 4gb free?

So i upgraded my 2011 late macbook pro to 8gb but it shows that only about 3.5ish to 4ish gb to be free. I had OS X Yosemite 10.10 installed as well. Please help me out!!

Agreed, for the most part: RAM is the fastest medium to keep and process data, so the more is used, the faster your machine will work. Caching/writing to disk (even an SSD), on the other hand...
Now, about those "memory cleaning" apps: there are the good ones, that actually clear inactive memory based on real alloc/malloc instructions left by running apps, and those, not so good, that will clean indiscriminately, shaving at the top, so to speak.
One good app that will work, though in your case it's pretty useless, given the total amount of RAM on your machine, is Purge; you can also invoke the "purge" command in Terminal every once in a while if you want, but it's not going to change the face of the Earth...

I can understand your frustrations and concerns with receiving these unknown calls! I would love to assist you with preventing these types of calls.
Sounds as though you're receiving some type of telemarketing call. Although you're unable to add the shorter numbers to your call block list, you can definitely add your number to the National Do Not Call registry http://1.usa.gov/1whONxp. I hope this will help prevent those unwanted calls. Thanks!

If you are syncing music to the iPhone automatically, you won't be able to play tracks on the iPhone from iTunes, the music will be grayed out.
You can play them in iTunes if you Manually Manage the music on your iPhone though.
You could also Transfer the purchases from your iPhone to a computer.

IMovie only show background music after connecting to my external iMovie Mediathek, no video!!! desperat, i potentially lost a big project...

I work with an external iMovie-Mediathek so my big project don't mess up my macbook. I was working on a big project (45 min.) after the program crashed. Now, when I try to connect again to the external Mediathek, it will only show the background music I used, no video material at all... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But in the "events"-section, it looks normal with the preview just like always during the last couple of days... It even shows the size of the file with 146GB (which is correct), but still only the music is displayed (about 7 tracks).
I need urgent help. Same thing happened to the security-backup I make regularly...

Itunes has doubled up the songs on my iPhone but only shows them singly within iTunes. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My iPhone lists every song (songs that I have imported from cd's, but not purchased through iTunes) twice. iTunes only shows 1 instance of each song. If I delete a doubled up entry from the phone, it deletes the whole song. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Camera Raw in CS4. I have applied the Camera Raw 5.7 update to my CS4 Photoshop. It works fine in Photoshop, but only shows the NEF icon from my DS3 files in Bridge. Any ideas would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

I have installed Photoshop CS4 on a new PC as my other has all but died. I applied the Camera Raw 5.7 update for CS4 to take care of the NEF files from my Nikon D3S. This works fine when opening NEF file, but in Bridge it only shows the NEF icon.
If anyone has any ideas, I would be most grateful.

Purge the cache for the offending folder(s) through the Tools menu in Bridge.

Connecting macbook pro with tv that only has dvi port

I have a macbook pro and a minidisplay port --> hdmi adapter. I'd like to connect my macbook with a tv that only has a dvi port. Can I use a hdmi --> dvi cable on the minidsiplay port? Will that work? Thanks for your help.

Iphone seems to be working but only shows apple logo, itunes sees the phone normally, when i restored it appeared successful and itunes tried activating my phone but the screen only shows apple logo nothing else???

my iphone is detected in itunes as normal, but screen on the phone only shows apple logo??? restored and everything but no difference its weird, it restores successfully and stuff but once done the screen only shows apple logo.. note:while restoring everything goes through as normal on the phone it shows the bar loading etc.. but once complete just stays on apple logo.

It can take a few minutes to reinitialize, but if it stays on the Apple logo for as much as 10 minutes there is something seriously wrong. Try restoring again, and set up as a new phone rather than installing your backup. If this fixes it you have a corrupt backup. If this doesn't fix it the phone is broken. Or possibly jailbroken.

I paid for Quicktime Pro but only show Quicktime. I need to rotate a movie.

I have registered successfully with the license code they sent me after I paid for Quicktime Pro. The email from them says that I now have Quicktime Pro, but still I only show regular Quicktime, not Quicktime Pro.
I DO HAVE A NEW DELL LAPTOP SO THIS MAY BE OPERATOR ERROR.
I'd like to be able to rotate a movie but the directions I have don't work for regular Quicktime.
I found directions online that tell me to open Quicktime Pro. Go to "Window". Then to "Show Movie Properties" then to the icons for rotating a movie.
I can get as far as "Show Movie Properties" but after that there is a strange chart and nothing about rotating anything.
How do I get the Quicktime Pro to show up instead of regular Quicktime?

Thank you for responding! Unfortunately, it doesn't give me this option. When I go to "Windows" and then to "Show Movie Properties" and I click on the video, nothing happened other than it is highlighted in blue. I tried clicking once. Nada. Twice Nada. I tried right clicking. Nothing comes up. The options I have are below. Is this making any sense to you? Thanks.

I currently have a dashboard prompt for year and month. On a bar chart, data is retrieved from Jan to the prompted month. Month is on the X axis.
So, if they choose March on the prompt, there's sales data where there is a bar for Jan, a bar for Feb, a bar for Mar on the X axis.
What I'd like to do is on the X axis show all months - Jan through Dec - as lables, however, the data presented would be from Jan to the month chosen in the prompt. In my scenario of prompting for March,
the X axis would have Jan, Feb, Mar, April,...Dec, but only Jan, Feb, Mar would have bars with their sales amounts.
I'm not trying to get all the data for the year, just what's been prompted, but, I do want all the months displayed as lables on X.
Is this possible?

Motherboard is 64bit but only showing 32bit

We have an 870-g45. We just had to replace the hard drive due to black screen with pointer. In trying to reinstall our Windows 7 64 bit, it is giving an error and upon researching, it is only showing that it is a 32 bit board. What would cause this and how do I fix it.

I had taken the computer (which was custom made) to Frys Electronics because I was getting a black screen with white pointer upon start up and could not do anything. (No safe mode, No Task Manager, etc) They said that the Hard Drive was bad. So, I bought a new hard drive and came home, installed it. Then had to reinstall Full version of Windows XP, so that I could do the Upgrade to Windows 7 (designed for Windows Vista) Home Premium-64 bit.
Everything worked fine before the black screen with the pointer. Previously was running the same Windows7 64 bit as I was installing.
The computer would only allow the 32 bit version to install. I recvd an error when trying to install 64 bit saying the motherboard did not support 64 bit BUT it is a 64 bit motherboard and it was on the cpu before the black screen.
The information on the video card is iffy. I could not find my receipt so I went by the pictures on the MSI site and what the card looks like.
So, I need to get it to accept the 64 bit version. I don't understand why it will not recognize the 64 bit motherboard??
Is there a dip switch, a bios setting, ????
