Connected MDM and LDAP, but but now what? Why user mapping?
Hi Gurus,
In my last thread, I posted that I was not able to connect MDM with LDAP. I was finally able to.
My problem now is I have to define user mapping in SAP Portal for the MDM business iViews to work.
By connecting MDM and LDAP, I got the benefit that now the authentication and authorization is happening via LDAP.
But this does eliminate the need for user mapping. If this is the case then why the real benefit of using LDAP?
In this case this becomes worse as I need to know the user's LDAP Password which no body will share for sure.
Any ideas? I want to get rid off this user mapping stuff.

without knowing specifics of ur architecture, i can quickly point out two things:
1) LDAP is primarily used for authentication, true.
2) Portal User mapping should not be an issue if u already have portal tied up to the active directory or some kind of single sign on?
So portal knows the users who has logged it, polls the Active directory for authentication and Active directory logs into MDM with that users role.

Downloads are single platform, but if you have PSE13 you can swap it for a Mac version. If you have an earlier version. I'm sorry you are out of luck.
If you need to buy again it's worth looking around on-line as there are often cheaper deals in January. -
I'm unable to download the ois 7.1 software update. It keeps saying unable to verify because I'm no longer connected to the internet. I AM connected...reset etc. now what?

Tried to buy more and lost everything. Now What?
I finally got what I bought last night on my ipod. So I purchased more tonight and in the process of trying to figure out what to do ( I thought it would download songs auto if hooked up) it ended up restoring my ipod to factory settings and then restoring my info, but it deleted the songs from last night and I never got the other 24 from tonight. A total of 50 songs. I was just starting to like this and now this happened. Now what?

I updated to ios 6 when it first came out and nothing happened till now. My wifi is grayed out and not working and my Bluetooth isn't working too please somone help this is getting annoying. I tried restoring the setting and resetting everything but nothing worked.

i broke my ipods charger a few months back. and since then i haveforgotten my ipods 4 didgit code and it became dissabled. i have connected to itunes and tried everything to get back into it. can anyone help me? totally appritiated.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

In short, POST requests are for sending any amount of data directly over the connection without changing the URL, and GET requests are for getting limited amounts of information appended to the URL.
POST requests cannot be bookmarked or emailed and do not change the Uniform Resource Locators (URL) of the response. GET requests can be bookmarked and emailed and add information to the URL of the response. -
The problem started when my computer was having problems reading the HD by slowing down and freezing. The Apple Genius told me the computer needed a new HD, and that it would cost $228 to replace it through them. I opted out and purchased a Hd myself and installed it. Everything was good for about two months until one day the screen went black and I smelled something burning on my Mac, yes like fire. Upon inspection I found the burning smell came from the middle of the SATA cable and that it shorted. I ordered a new cable from Hong Kong that took 22 days to get here. It still does not read the HD. I tried a SATA cable from a 2011 MacBook that still works (had to stretch it a little but still connected) I also tried the previous HD that was in there and two other HD from 2 different MacBooks that are still functional. Nothing worked. Is my motherboard toast as a result of the SATA cable dying? The computer reads an external drive, however, and can boot into time machine. The cable, btw had been receiving physical damage from the case when the MacBook lost its little black feet. This is where it fried as the section that had marks from the case melted the plastic right underneath.
Prep your new drive:
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs,) then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install OS X. -
Tried everything - receiver and regular Ipod volume - now what?
I have gone threw trouble-shooting instructions: Power on and off, did reset,
and restore. Got on this forum and tried the suggestion of plugging in headset over and over, both powered on and off.
Speaker works when the phone rings, when answering the caller cannot hear me unless I select "speaker" mode. Headset works with Ipod but nothing without them. I can see the volume move when using the volume control.
It appears that is is time to send to Apple, unless anyone knows of something I have missed?Well, just tried cleaning the plug with rubbing alcohol, but still nothing.
I did not mention earlier, that everything working great. But, recently two variables were different. One was the upgrade from Apple. The second is bought a system to play over my car speaks, it is the type that is put in the tape deck. Had to get a Adapter Kit to plug that into the phone.
I bought the system, tried it and all seemed fine (but got no calls at the time). Did the upgrade that night. The next day listen to music in the vechicle was fine. When I got a call I could not be heard by the caller.
Later I found out about the Ipod not working on the regular speaker. Had not used that after the upgrade. So, not sure if either of this had anything to do the problem I am having.
I will try to keep the Headset plugged in. Don't know what else to do.
We do not have a repair center here. It was purchased at an AT & T store, but they stated they do not service them. That would result in me sending in or
driving approx. 100 miles.

Dead motherboard and power supply.. now what?
I am pretty upset that my iMac had a meltdown. It worked wonderfully and perfectly until last week. The Apple store told me that the motherboard fried and so did the power supply. They told me it wasn't worth it to replace the parts since it would cost over 1200 dollars to replace. I seriously do not have money for a new computer and I do not have the credit rating that could help me finance a new one.
I've had the computer since 2004, you could say that over 4 years of perfect performance could be good, but the computer was a gift from my dad who has recently passed, and I don't think it's going to be easy for me to give it up. If I were to buy the parts myself and do the install, would be it be worth it? My questions are ... where can I buy the motherboard and new power supply? Can I buy directly from Apple and install myself? Buying from Apple usually means higher prices, but you can check with them as well, part of the $1200 was surely labor costs.

Deauthorized, reauthorized, and lost music. Now what?
I just had the logic board for my Mac replaced and iTunes demanded I reauthorize. Fine. Then it asked me to authorize these ancient accounts I haven't used in forever, linked to email accounts I don't have anymore. So I followed the instructions and deauthorized everything, then reauthorized my current computer. Now it says it can't copy a lot of older songs that I would still like to have. I'm kind of stumped at this point.
