Connected to an FTTC enabled cabinet but unable to...
My serving cabinet has recently been upgraded and is now FTTC enabled but I am still unable to recieve infinity even though a different property served by the same cabinet is.
I called BT to ask if they could clarify if this was because I am too far away from the cabinet but the person I spoke to said to that my phone number is showing as no fibre available which means the cabinet I'm connected to can't have been upgraded. They couldn't explain why a different phone number connected to the same cabinet was able to receive fibre and said that distance from the cabinet is irrelevant; the test on my number would still come back as positive even if my cabinet was 100 miles away.
Now I'm fairly confident that is untrue but they weren't having any of it.
I was wondering if there is a way to confirm for sure that I'm too far away from the cabinet and will therefore never be able to get fibre?

I am fully assuming that the reason behind it is that I am too far away from the cabinet but just want a definite answer and any possible alternative or hope for the future! I've contacted Openreach on the form posted above, just waiting for a reply.

(X230) Connected to Wifi with excellent signal but unable to load internet pages:
Hey everyone,
Hoping for the community to help me figure out a problem of mine.
Trying to connect my X230 to internet through a new router (Asus - security type WPA-Personal) and although the laptop connects without a problem (98% signal strength), internet pages are not loading. The diagnosis tool isn't finding anything and I could add that other laptops do not have the same problem when connecting to this router.
My tech level is rather low so I don't know what more I could add to help you guys get a clear view of the situation/problem so if more info is needed, let me know. I won't be far.

To answer your questions:
1. The machine connects fine on other routers. For example Starbucks (Unsecured), friends house (Linksys on WPA2-Personal), two different schools (WPA-Enterprise and WPA2-Enterprise).
Maybe it's a coincidence but its the first time the machine tries to connect to a WPA-Personal...
2. Several other computers connect well to this router. Which leads me to believe that the problem is with the X230.
3. How do I do this if I can't access internet with the said machine? (sorry, a bit of a noob).
Extra notes:
A) When I open up the Wireless Network Connction Status, it says ''No Internet Access'' next to IPv6 Connectivity.
B) Although this router is set on WPA-Personnal, the Lenovo Access Connections manager seems to think that specific router is in fact a WPA2-PSK
Hopefully this will generate more thoughts on the subject. -
Cabinet no longer to be FTTC enabled?
Since our exchange was fibre enabled many months ago, I have regularly been checking this site (http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome) for a date as to when our cabinet would be upgraded. As for many others the due date would arrive only for it to be rescheduled to some future point in time.
Usually the site would show an availability date for both FTTC and Fibe Multicast (is this for media services?) and then on the due date these would both 'disappear' and reappeaer a day or two later with the some new date against them (the same for both items)
However, the last date (9th April) has now come and gone over 10 days ago and the site now shows the following:
FTTC is no longer shown as being available at any point although Fibre Multicast is supposedly available.
Anyone know what this implies? Is my cabinet no lionger going to be FTTC enabled?Most likely.
Back in 2010 when my exchange was one of the first to go up my cabinet was meant to go up and I was meant to achieve the full 40/10
Dates were pulled and i was told by [email protected] that my cabinet didn't meet the commercial criteria and wouldn't generate enough money for them to make a return on investment.
Of course your cabinet could of been rejected for any of the following reasons:
- Blocked underground cable routes
- Problems with providing electrical power to a cabinet
- Issues with a cabinet’s location
- Occasionally a cabinet may be removed from the roll-out programme due to restrictions beyond our control
Your best bet is to give them a shout and see what they've hit you and your cabinet with. Openreach seem to be more open arms now in term of what's actually happening to your cabinet.

EDIT: Also I'd like to add that your cabinet may have been put up for funding by other authorities like BDUK, Connecting Devon and North Somerset. < Funding projects like that (Whatever would be applicable for your area) These fundings were recently approved around Jan, Feb I think. So I imagine the plans would start to take action later this year up till early or late next year.
DOUBLE EDIT: It's also entirely possible they just pulled the dates from the checker to stop people from moaning about due dates being pushed back to every next quarter.
Like I said I would email Openreach and see what they give you. It might take a few back and forth emails but you're certain to get the story from them. Also if they give you the "You need to email your ISP" be ready to challenge them about it because in reality they are the keymakers so to speak. They hold all the plans and the problems.

I have gone through the escalation chain email as well however, apologies to say that though the cabinet in customer’s area is FTTC enabled still it is not commercially not viable. Once it will meet the criteria we will able to provide the FTTC line. we can then send the email chain to chase.
I have no idea what this means!!!??? When I call BT I am simply told "it is not available in your area"....when actually it is...just not for my number/house.

VPN connects but unable to access resources on remote network

I'm able to ping the ASA interface once the VPN is connected but unable to access any of the resources located on the remote network such as shares and computers. The cisco vpn client shows data being sent and recieved when I ping the interface on the ASA but it doesn't recieve any data when I attempt to ping or access other resources on the network.

Got an (unlocked) iphone 4s from US and tried activating in India but it throws an error saying 'unable to activate bcos the activation server cannot be reached' ..I tried connecting to itunes through my laptop but it does not detect my iphone..pls help

As kb1951 states, unless this phone was purchased directly from Apple, it is not officially unlocked. In the US, only Apple sells officially unlocked iPhones. The message you got generally means your phone was hacked to unlock it...jailbroken...Apple's servers have detected such & are preventing your phone from activating...there's nothing wrong with the activation servers.
You'll need a sim card from the carrier your phone is locked to in order to activate it. If you don't know what carrier, you'll have to call AppleCare in the US to determine this info. Be aware, US carriers will not authorize official unlocking unless you are a customer that used the phone on their network. Thus, there is most likely no way for you to get this phone officially unlocked.

ID on the Mac can produce reports that may (or may not) prove helpful in diagnosing the problem. I suspect this is something not directly related to InDesign, and maybe not to any of the Adobe apps directly since you seem to be having a problem in more than one. That often inidcates a problem at the system level.
Nevertheless, it won't hurt to try to gather the reports. You'll find driections for how to generate them, and to post them on Pastebin.com (then put a link to them here) so we can see what's going on at Adobe Forums: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding

Until the MacBook Air was released and supported in 10.5, the Mac did not consider USB to be a valid Networking Protocol. So set the Mac with USB solutions aside.
To connect computer-to-computer, you typically need to be using an Ethernet crossover cable. Assigning the same address to two Ethernet devices is never the solution -- it gives a Network Conflict, just as you said.
If your Windows box has some mechanism for Sharing its WiFi connection over Ethernet, you would have to follow its rules. Whether that means Manually assigning an Ethernet Address in the same range or the PC will provide the Address, I do not know.
Best success may be running an Ethernet cable to your Wired/Wireless Base Station, or using a "gaming adapter" (Ethernet-to-Wireless no drivers required) connected to the Mac's Ethernet port to give it WiFi access. What is your Base Station {Cable, DSL, FIOS, Other} ? Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters (an American Football Field). Often the Base Station can be moved closer for more convenience. -

I suspect your error was 1015, not 1051. This usually involves a jailbroken iPhone, use Google to find your solution.
