Connected to home network, but cannot access internet on ipad

I have got strong signal on home network but cannot access the internet. Tried resets, etc

It could be a simple problem that needs a reset for the related devices. Other than that, try to control the security settings and passwords of your home network. You might be using WEP password protocol to connect your home network. Try to use WPA protocol instead of WEP. Maybe it will help to solve your problem.

  • Connected to the Airport Express network, but cannot access internet

I am using Airport Express (n) to create a wireless network in my apartment. It is connected via ethernet to a Motorola cable modem. My Macbook and iphone are on the network and I am able to connect to the internet without issue. I have a new Samsung N120 (wireless b/g) which finds and connects to the wireless network (Signal Strenth=excellent)but I am unable to connect to the internet. My Airport settings are for n, b/g compatible. The N120 has had no trouble connecting to other wireless networks. Samsung and the Cable Company can offer no insight, hoping for the Apple experts to help me figure this one out. Thanks!

    Welcome to the discussion area!
Once you have the wireless connection established from the Samsung, have you power cycled your complete network? If not, power down every device including the Samsung DVD player. Order is not important.
After a few minutes, start the modem first and let it run a few moments alone. Then power up the AirPort Express and let it run a few moments. Next, power up computers one at a time for a few minutes and check to make sure that you can establish internet connectivity. Finally, power up other devices one at a time and check for internet connectivity.
Not sure what else to suggest as your post indicates that the AirPort Express is functioning correctly.

Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • Apple TV connects to the network but cannot connect to the internet.

Apple TV connects to the network but cannot connect to the internet. Works on other Apple TV's we have just not this new one. Defective???  Thank you!

    This might help:
Apple TV (2nd gen.) saw my wireless network but did not accept my password (gave a network error message). It fixed instantly doing this:
Made a note of the Apple TV's MAC address. Get it by pressing Menu on the remote, then Settings > General > About. It's called "WiFi address."
Use your browser on a network connected computer to go to your router settings (usually 192.168.1.1).
Under "Wireless > Wireless MAC Filter" (or something similar) do these steps:
    Enable Wireless MAC filter
Enable "Permit PCs listed below to access the wireless network"
Enter the Apple TV's MAC address
    Click "Save Setting"
When I did this the network connection immediately started working.
Note: These instructions are based on a Cisco Wireless-N Broadband, model WRT160Nv2, firmware v2.0.02.

  • WIFI stopped working after I woke the computer up, now says connected to the network but not the internet, all other coputers and devices connected still with no problems, have pinged IP address from router and got the message "4 packets sent none receive

    Hi,
WIFI stopped working after I woke the computer up, now says connected to the network but not the internet, all other coputers and devices connected still with no problems, have pinged IP address from router and got the message "4 packets sent none received"... Help
I have tried network diagnostics which doesnt help... The only other ting is, when I woke the computer up it said tat another device was using my IP... My wife had plugged her phone into the computer to charge etc but even when i turn wifi off on the phone there is no change... also in settings on the phone the IP address is different...

The answer to your question is - neither!
Your PC should to configured to obtain an IP address automatically, and to obtain DNS server IP addresses automatically, from the Airport Express. This is the way Windows (and Macs for that matter) are configued by default, and that is the way most people have their computers set up. If you manually configured your PC's IP address to be the same as your wife's Mac, it certainly explains why your PC is not able to access the internet.

You state that "there is nothing wrong with your home network because you can connect to your laptop and other wifi devices". Interpreted literally, this means only you have a local wireless network. Can your laptop and other wifi devices on your home network access the Internet without problems?
Do you have "reasonable" values for IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router IP, DNS, etc on your iPod Toucg 4G in Settings > WiFi > your home network?
By reasonable I mean do they look the same as the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router IP, DNS, etc on your devices that can access the Internet?

  • HT1595 Apple tv will connect to the network but cannot connect to the Internet

My apple tv is connecting to my network but it says it cannot connect to the Internet. I've already tried restarting everything and I've also connected it to my portable mifi network with same results. Anybody have any ideas?

This is what the MAC address clone looks like:
Should I enable it?  If so, should I put something in the MAC Address?  What?  I was able to connect it thru my MiFi, but not my home network.  Until today, it's been connected to my home network for about 8 months with no problem.  Haven't used it for a while...not since I got a new router.

    Hey DM,
Is the Wireless(WL) router signal coming through the wired-router?
My ISP requires that my Wireless Router is identified from their end. I use AirPort Express, so they need its MAC address from the router. Without that, my network will show up, but my ISP doesn't recognize it and won't allow it to route he internet. I don't know your exact situation though.
Can other wireless computers access the internet? If they can through the WL router, then it might be the MacBook. If they can't, then you might want to contact your ISP and ask if they can see your wireless router?
    Let us know.

  • Can see and recognize my wireless network and Internet is working, but I can't connect with ANY computers/iPad/iPod/air TV, etc. I have reset the time machine several times, and can see the network, but cannot access it with any device. PLEASE HELP!

I have Comcast Internet and have it connected to a Motorla Surfboard modem and have that running directly to a 2TB Time Capsule. The TC is serving as our time machine as well as our wireless router. We lost power in a storm a week ago and can no longer connect to my wireless network I can see the network and sign into it via password, but cannot connect with any device(iMac, MacBook, iPhones, iPod touches, air tv, etc.). ALL of these devices worked gat before the power went out. I reset both modem and TC and still can't connect. I can connect to the Internet through Ethernet cord directly from the modems dn have confirmation(per Comcast service) that the Internet is working and we have a good connection.
The TC is less than six months old so I'm not sure what is wrong. I have reset settings with TC to no avail. I have reset the TC SEVERAL times and have no idea what could be wrong and what is prohibiting me from connecting. Anyone that has ANY suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this, PLEASE HELP!!!  I'm going crazy using iPad 3G and not being able to connect to our wifi. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND I LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO THE 21ST CENTURY!

Anyone have any ideas or information to help with this?  Any help and consideration is MUCH appreciated.

  • Airport Express working, PC connects to network but cannot use internet

I set up my Airport Express wireless network, and all is functioning. My IMac recognizes and uses the network. My PC laptop recognizes the network (excellent signal) and "connects" or indicates that it is connected, but I cannot access the internet. Have tried the power-down and re-booting sequences suggested in other posts. Does the PC just not work on a Mac wireless network?
    Thanks.

Ok, time to use the Ping tool for some additional troubleshooting. We will need to open another command window.
    1. Ping the loopback address to verify that TCP/IP is installed and correctly configured on the local computer. To do this, type the following command: +ping 127.0.0.1+
If the loopback test fails, the IP stack is not responding. This problem may occur if any one or more of the following conditions is true: a. The TCP drivers are corrupted, b) The network adapter is not working, or c. Another service is interfering with IP.
    2. Ping the IP address of the PC to verify that the computer was correctly added to the network. To do this, type the following command: +ping 10.0.1.3+
If the loopback test succeeds but you cannot ping the local IP address, there may be an issue with the routing table or with the network adapter driver.
    3. Ping the IP address of the default gateway to verify that the default gateway is working and that you can communicate with a local host on the local network. To do this, type the following command: +ping 10.0.1.1+
If the ping fails, you may have an issue with the network adapter, the router or gateway device, the cabling, or other connectivity hardware.
    4. Ping the IP address of a remote host to verify that you can communicate through a router. We did this earlier when you attempted to access Google through the web browser using Google's IP address. This time, we will try it via the Ping tool. To do this, type the following command: +ping IP address of remote host+
If the ping fails, the remote host may not be responding, or there may be a problem with the network hardware between computers. To rule out an unresponsive remote host, use Ping again to a different remote host.
    5. Ping the host name of a remote host to verify that you can resolve a remote host name. To do this, type the following command: +ping www.google.com+
Ping uses name resolution to resolve a computer name into an IP address. Therefore, if you successfully ping an IP address but you cannot ping a computer name, there is a problem with host name resolution, not with network connectivity. Verify that DNS server addresses are configured for the computer, either manually in the properties of TCP/IP, or by automatic assignment. If DNS server addresses are listed when you type the ipconfig /all command, try to ping the server addresses to make sure that they are accessible.
If you cannot use Ping successfully at any point, verify the following configurations:
o Make sure that the local computer's IP address is valid and that it is correct on the General tab of the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box or when it is used with the Ipconfig tool.
o Make sure that a default gateway is configured and that the link between the host and the default gateway is working. For troubleshooting purposes, make sure that only one default gateway is configured.
o Make sure that Internet Protocol security (IPSec) is not turned on. Depending on the IPSec policy, Ping packets may be blocked or may require security.
(Important: If the remote computer that you are pinging is across a high-delay link such as a satellite link, response may take longer. You can use the -w (wait) parameter to specify a longer timeout period than the default timeout of four seconds.)

  • IPhone connected to Apple Wireless Extreme but cannot access Internet

I have the Apple Wireless Extreme that I use to connect my MacBook Pro online, and for some reason the iPhone cannot access the Internet. I can connect to the base station, but can't go online - it's getting an IP address and I can see the DNS server addresses. I have tried no security, WEP, WPA and WPA 2 with no luck. I have to resort to connecting to someone elses wireless network so I can go online with the iPhone.
    Any ideas?

I have an Airport Extreme base station using WPA2 Personal encryption for my wireless network without MAC filtering, and I connect with my network with no problems.
How many characters is your password when using WPA2 Personal encryption?
I would also try resetting your wireless network.
Power your MB and your iPhone off.
Power your Airport Extreme Base Station off, and then your modem.
Wait several minutes and then reverse the process.
Power your modem on allowing it to completely reset and connect.
Power your Airport Extreme Base Station on, allowing it to reset with the modem.
Power your iPhone on and try connecting to your wireless network.

  • NB200 Can connect to wireless networks, but cannot connect to the internet

I have been able to connect my Win XP netbook to my secure wireless network at home, other people's networks and public networks like the library and McDonalds. This week I'm away from home and discovered that while I can still connect to a number of different wireless networks, I cannot connect to the internet using Internet Explorer.
I've had this problem once before and fixed it by reinstalling Windows XP and all my other software. I have no idea why it has happened again. I'm hoping for a less drastic solution to the problem..?

    Hi Nakia,
    > I cannot connect to the internet using Internet Explorer.
Have you tested other browsers like Mozilla Firefox and does this work?
As MasterG wrote try to renew the IP address using the commend line.
Last week I had a similar problem and I could solve it by updating the WLAN driver. Just remove the driver, restart the notebook and install the newest one. :)
