Connected to internet but cannot browse in MACBOOK PRO Core i5

Hello , i m using mac book pro core i5 with osx 10.7.1 , from last few days i hav a issue that my internet is connected but i cant open any of the websites in chrome , safari or whatever . i m using a dial up connection , whereas on my windows the same connection is working quite good.
but on my macbook , it shows that the internet is connected but i cant browse , even when i try to update it says sheck your internet connection .....

Yeah - that's the issue. I don't have access to the hardware, it's locked in a cabinet and the ISP is telling me this is an apple issue and won't send a tech out to examine since I am technically connected.

Connected to Internet, but cannot ping ANYTHING

One of my company's customers has an issue with their windows 7 machine that I have been trying to help him solve to no avail.
The problem began when he was suddenly unable to use certain functionality of our software several days ago- having changed nothing that he was aware of on his computer. Though his computer is connected to the internet, and he can browse the web, send email,
etc, he is unable to connect to our SQL server, and though he is able to connect to our FTP server, he is unable to upload or download files from it.
To begin diagnosing the problem, I had him perform a ping test. First to our SQL server, which failed, then to our ftp server, also failed, then to google.com, which failed, then to his router, which also failed. Of all the ping tests performed, the ONLY
one that gets a response is when he pings localhost or 127.0.0.1. The nature of the ping failure is four: "The Request Timed Out" messages.
I logged into his router and was able to successfully perform all ping tests through the router ping tool. I had him log into another computer on his network, and all ping tests worked from that computer.
He had the following software installed: Windows Firewall, SpyBot, cCleaner, Windows Security Essentials, MalwareBytes and AVG toolbar. I uninstalled all of these except for Windows Security Essentials, disabled the windows firewall and rebooted, but the
problem remains.
Rebooting in "safe mode with networking" had different results. Instead of the timeout error he just gets "Ping request could not find host... please check the name and try again".
He does not have a proxy or any other complicated network setup.
His HOSTS file is in the default state, however there are a number of renamed HOSTS files in the same directory, one of which appears to have been generated by SpyBot, and has hundreds of entries, but it is renamed to HOSTS.OLD.
My hunch is that some software on his computer did something to block certain types of network communication, including ping and that uninstalling that software did not revert those settings, but of course I can't be sure of that.
Any ideas on what could be causing this issue, and/or how to resolve it?

1. I have the same experience with SpyBot. It creates hosts file entries and make the response much slower.
2. To have so many AV programs on single computer is counterproductive.
3. I would avoid using cCleaner based on my bad experience.
4. With ping you can test the connectivity and connectivity with name resolution. The necessary condition is that the path and target computers allow for ping. (FW allows for it.). Use nslookup to check the DNS.
5. Use network monitor to resolve your problem. Without more detailed information on packets flowing in your network it is not possible to find the cause of troubles. Wireshark will do the job. If you feel like not to analyze logs from network monitor, upload
log file and share URL.
6. Appropriate ports should be opened. Scarce information is given on SQL and FTP connection. (These ports belong to notorious attacked ones. )

Blackberry curve 9300 connected to wifi but cannot use apps only bb browser

hi guys im new here and its my first time to use blackberry unfortunately for me im very disappointed.. im already connected to wifi but cannot use any application like facebook,twitter,badoo etc.. i didnt try my bb messanger yet but im sure it wont connect as well.. Even my BB app world giving me error message "we cannot connect you to the app world please ensure that your device is connected to a wireless network and try again" what the???? im already connected to a wifi.. and the weirdest thing is that i can browse the internet using the bb browser and watch videos on youtube on the youtube app installed already to the phone.. but again the apps that i installed is not connected..
So what i notice the simple rebooting of the phone wont work i need to remove the battery and wait the phone to load then i can connect to app world but after few minutes... it will give the error message again..
Now im thinking to swap this phone and get another brand if this problem wont be solve whats the use of apps if i cant use it??! i already called my network provider and they told me i need to purchase package for data.. are you kidding me??! i got wifi why should i pay for data!

thank you for your message and sorry for the problems you have with your BB.
Have you checked your Firewall Settings and Application Settings, to make sure, that all apps have access to the internet and are not blocked? Also do you use the phone on BIS or BES, meaning do you use it personally or are you connected to a corporate enterprise server? In the last case, their might be restrictions from your server administrator.
I would try to go through all that and see if it works afterwards. Also go and check the application settings to make sure everything is correctly set up there.
The other thing I would look into is your router. Have you restarted your WiFi router as well? Checked on the Firewall there and everything?
As for the datapackage: There are several people here on the forums, complaining, that WiFi does not have priority over mobile data. This means, that if you have a dataplan and activate WiFi, you would still browse using your dataplan and not WiFi, unless you a) either turn off your mobile data connection, which makes you unreachable for calls, sms, etc. or b) if you are a prepaid user, wait until your balance is depleted, in which case the mobile data won't work anymore and you will connect through WiFi.
This is however different and should not affect you. Since you do not have a dataplan (at least that is what I understand from your posting), there is no dataplan to use and hence WiFi would have priority for connection with the net, since it is the only available source.
I would give it a bet, that it has something to do with your phones settings in any way, or with the router itself (though this is probably unlikely).
You can check your firewall settings by doing the following: Browse to your Settings Application or hit Options within any app. Go to advanced settings, check your security settings. You may also want to check your phones WiFi settings, by opening the connections app and open the WiFi configuration.

i am using ipod touch 4g, i can connect to my home network but i cannot use the internet...it said "not connected to internet" but the ipod touch shows that it is connected to the network.
I know that there are nothing wrong with my home network,because i can connect to my laptop and others wifi devices.

You state that "there is nothing wrong with your home network because you can connect to your laptop and other wifi devices". Interpreted literally, this means only you have a local wireless network. Can your laptop and other wifi devices on your home network access the Internet without problems?
Do you have "reasonable" values for IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router IP, DNS, etc on your iPod Toucg 4G in Settings > WiFi > your home network?
By reasonable I mean do they look the same as the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router IP, DNS, etc on your devices that can access the Internet?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

All my connection to the internet had been stopped after I setup my new bought imac, and transferred data from my previous mac book.
The connect test showed I have no connection to the internet. But the interest is, I can connect to internet with Google Chrome, but in a quite slow connection speed.
Check several times with the router and switches, DNS, wifi, lan settings etc.
Give up after hours of trying.

At the same time, another mac book using the same router can connect to the internet. Even my iphone can also using wifi to connect to the internet.
Chrome in the imac can, but Safari and the internet test cannot.

I cannot get my Macbook Pro Retina to connect to my BT homehub either wirelessly or through ethernet using the thunderbolt adaptor. I know that this is a problem with my IP address as in Network Settings it tells me that
'Thunderbolt Ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet.'
I know that my internet connection is fine as I can plug the ethernet cable back into my PC and it works fine. Also, my phone and ipad connect wirelessly just fine.
Bt have told me to contact Apple, but I can't get hold of Apple till tomorrow.
Amyone know how to overcome this?
I did also find my IP address and enter it manually, at which point netwrok settings showed my ethernet connection as green and connected, but it still wasn't working.

Same for wifi. I have put in my IP address manually for the wifi network and it has gone green and connects to the hub, but gives me an exclamation mark on the wifi bar and still doesnt connect to the internet.
I am writing this whilst connected to the internet on the same laptop but connected to BTFON which is a really slow public network I have access to as a BT customer.

Let's see.... you don't install boot camp to begin with, you may be referring to downloading the Apple drivers.
Known issue and need to check and change proxy and network settings -- yu are still in mac OS X
You are in Windows and cannot connect to the internet ---- you are running Windows
The only time yu install is after Widnows is installed and then install Apple drivers which are
BOOTCAMP.msi or BOOTCAMP64.msi usually just run Setup.exe

We are wireless via a D-Link DIR-625 (new) -- but was having some problems before with a netgear. Problem much worse now. My computers are not the primary computers. My sister gets that coin toss. She is a PC user. I share with her using WPA2. When the iMac "wakes" the signal bands are strong, but when I go to a page I lose all signal strength. And several times a day I get a message indicating an error joining the network -- arghhhhh -- HELP!
