Connected to Internet, but Network Magic is Not

Hi, I recently got a linksys wireless G router WRT54GS2 and it came with Netmagic. The first time I used it everything was working fine, but now (about 2 hours later) NM cannot connect to the internet, and none of the repairs fix it. It's strange because I can connect to the internet and I'm writing this message using the router. The version of NetMagic I have is 5.1.9055.0

Help will be greatly appreciated.
PS. All my devices can connect to the internet including an Xbox 360 through a wired connection, an iPod touch through wireless, an Acer Aspire One netbook through wireless, and the desktop computer I am currently on with a wired connection to the router. The only problem I am having is that on this computer, Network Magic is saying I'm not connected to the internet, when obviously, I am.

  • Airport Extreme Connected to Internet but Macbook Pro will not

I'm living in an apartment and using an Airport Extreme to supply wireless connection. The internet is paid for by the apartment complex and I have no access to the modem. Up until yesterday the internet worked fine for all devices. I did several factory resets on the Airport Extreme and now have confirmed internet access with my PS3 and smartphone connected to the wireless network. However, my macbook pro will connect to the wireless network but will not go beyond that to the web. I have renewed DHCP leases, reset network configurations and deleted plists to refresh everything but it still does not work. I have noted that when connected to the network, I have an IP address that begins with 192.168.x.x and the macbook states the router address begins the same way. The Airport Extreme displays an IP address of 172.xxx.x.x
I can manually input the routers IP address into my laptops network configuration and create an IP similar and connect to the internet through the laptop but if I want to connect to other networks I have reset that information. It simply won't work automatically. The airport extreme is setup in bridge mode. That is the only setup which would offer stable networking without any dropping or the device disappearing from the airport utility.
I'm currently out of my apartment and will call my ISP later today, but this problem has affected my roommates macbook's as well. My last attempt to connect directly into the wall ethernet jack yielded the same results without any internet connection.

    Try this:
Put the Airport Extreme in Bridge Mode and plug the apartment ethernet cable into a normal ethernet port on the back of the Airport Extreme instead of the normal "Internet" ethernet port.

  • IMac and XP2 Laptop connect to internet BUT XP2 PC does not

I continually get searching for network on the PC( hubby's machine)
When I approached someone for help getting this working they asked me if the PC was associated with the Airport Express so I need help
1 with how do I find that out I looked on the Airport utility but I couldn't find any tab that would show me.
We have a D-link router modem connected by Ethernet cable
The PC has a Belkin Network card installed and our airport express settings are 802.11g ( compatible.)
When I tried using a command prompt on the windows machine
ipconfig/all I get a 169 address which I know means it cannot find a 192. address so allocates that but is not a workable address.
I then tried ipconfig/renew and received an error message
Renewing interface Wireless Network connection4 : unable to contact DHCP Server
    Request timed out.
Can anyone help out here please.
It all worked fine until I secured the network with a WEP key. and I have quadruple checked the network key is the same on all three machines.
At one point every time Hubby fired up his PC it changed the WEP Password automatically so nothing could access the internet but I fixed that problem.
Not sure what other information I can give you but no doubt have left something out.
    Thanks for any help

Ok, thanks. I managed to download and read the DSL 300T User's Guide so I am now familiar with this unit.
Let's start by addressing the WEP security and the password that you are providing to your husband's PC. Some non-AirPort clients have trouble connecting to AirPort when WEP is used. In almost all cases, this can be rectified in one of three ways: 1) Provide non-AirPort users with the Equivalent Network Password, 2) Switch to using WPA/WPA2 for wireless encryption, or 3) Disabling encryption all together (not recommended).
If you need to use WEP, then please review the following Apple Tech Support article to see how you can determine the Equivalent Network Password: AirPort Extreme: Getting an equivalent network password

  • MAC os x can connect to internet but shows Youtube server not available.

I am trying to connect to youtube on safari and firefox as well but I keep getting a message that the youtube serve is not available.  I can hook up to it with my labptop Dell, but my apple will not let me and it has been a month now.

Thanks,  Neville Hillyer. Your advice was helpful, but in os 10.4, mail 2.1.3, and Comcast setup advice online there were some port differences that solved the problem. Thanks to NH I saw the SSL option was not consistent on outgoing versus incoming; saw two different sequences to use mail preferences for setting up incoming versus outgoing; and saw on COMCAST set-up that they like 2 different port numbers. My other newer Macs have not had this problem (yet) which seems strange since I saw port 110 in all my Macs.
    Mail preferences:
a-- accounts Information tab type POP, my userid, mypassword, and on advanced tab incoming port  should be 995, SSL checked, Authentication should be Password
b-- accounts information incoming server mail.comcast.net, my userid and mypassword, outging server smtp.comcast.net:myuserid, server settings port 465, SSL checked.
c-- in this old version mail 2.1.3, there is not save button until I select another account and a pop-up indicates my account changed and offered the save button which I selected. Mail then asked for my account's password; after I entered it, the outgoing test emails went out immediately.
    Mail sending works again.

  • Says I'm connected to internet but I'm really not - iPad2

My iPad2 says it's connected to the internet, both in the settup (there is a check) and the range is full in the top left corner of the screen.  However, when I open Safari or any app requiring internet, it says there is no internet connection.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Airport has "self assigned ip", no connection to internet but network ok

This is weird... the internet connection was working OK on my G5 desktop yesterday, today it doesn't... my work computer I brought home connected fine a few days ago but now it doesn't, the MacBook Pro I am writing this question with is working fine (hope it holds on to the connection!), our 2 iPhones are connected too. In the network settings for airport it says "self assigned ip address". Thanks in advance for any tips to correct this issue. Is this a glitch in the latest system update?

I solved my problem by reinstalling 10.5.5 and not doing the updates to 10.5.7. I don't know for sure if it is the update to 10.5.7 or the airport updates that caused my problem.
I out my old drive back in my Macbook and I had wireless again. So I out my new drive in and did the reinstall and now it works. There is a conflict with either the 10.5.7 update or the Airport update.
APPLE REALLY NEES TO FIX THESE ISSUES. you can read about them all over the internet. Many have just updated to 5.7 and then they have a problem.
So archiving and reinstalling 5.5 solved my problem. My old drive has 5.6 and it works. If had a copy of 5.6 I would have used that.
I will try doing another update to 5.7 and see if it still works. If that works I will update the airport.

  • Mac suddenly can't connect to internet (but sees rest of network ok)

for some very odd reason one of our macs now refuses to see the internet.
all the macs are hooked up to a gigabit switch and then to our dsl line via a sisco firewall. the problem mac can see every other mac on the network and connect successfully to them but it will not access the internet. the network settings have not changed.
    any suggestions?

    hi jeff
thanks for the swift response. we don't use proxy settings. i changed another mac to the problem macs ip address and it wouldn't connect until i changed it back. i'm thinking it must be the firewall blocking that ip address.

my wifi bar isnt showing up at the top and i cant connect to internet but its not my router? HELP HOW DO i get wifi back

I recommend that you start with taking a look at the Apple Support article to help you troubleshoot what the issue may be.
If that still doesn't resolve the issue, we will need to get the AirPort icon back on the OS X menu bar to continue. Please try the following:
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar (checked)

Let's see.... you don't install boot camp to begin with, you may be referring to downloading the Apple drivers.
Known issue and need to check and change proxy and network settings -- yu are still in mac OS X

  • Hi i use the hp lap in connecting for internet but not open the bro

    hi
i have some problam in my laptop in connecting for internet but not open for broswer and not update for software  tell the solution

    Hi @jerry3 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Notebook and not getting to the Internet. First try just to reset the router. Unplug from the power wait a few moments and plug back in.
Can get to safe mode with command prompt? F11 upon startup choose safe mode with Networking.
Can you get to the Internet in safe mode?
Please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

Every time I'm trying to update my 4s with iOS 6.1.2, keeps showing message that I'm not connect to Internet, but  I am, anybody experiencing the same issue???? Help!

I was able to update my iPhone 4S to 6.1.1, BUT ::   I could not update to 6.1.1. from my iPhone.   I received the same message as everyone else saying that my iPhone was not connected to the Internet, which is was.  (I was able to access my mail etc. via Internet.)
Instead I connected my iPhone to my computer via ITunes via the cable.   I then downloaded the software on my computer and updated the iPhone from the computer.   While I was downloading the software on to my computer, which is only connected to the Internet via ethernet, the same message as above appeared on my iPhone about not being connected to the Internet.   I pressed cancel.   The software continured to download on to the computer and then on the iPhone.

Here are several things that you can try that might help.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
    Check Settings>General>Date &Time>Set Automatically>On.
Reset your router by unplugging it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again.
