Connected to Mac, now wont work!

I have used my Sansa Fuze, without issue  until i tried to hook it up to my Macbook(usually I use my Windows PC. I had to download Overdrive onto my Mac, but was having problems getting the Mac to recognize the Fuze, so I unplugged it without going through the steps to "safely remove hardware". After that, I get an error message which says, "Not enough space for Music DB. Please free 90 MB." Then it turns off. It wont reset. It appears empty when i look at the files on my computer, but full according to the Fuze. Please HELP!

Seconded that you should hook up to Windows and use chkdsk. Or (actually the same function)  hook up to WIndows, right-click on the drive and go to the Properties tab. Tools/Error-Checking/Check Now.  That should fix the 90MB error.
But you are going to still have problems switching from Windows to Apple. With Overdrive you were using Windows digital rights functions by way of  built-in parts of Windows Media Player.  If you look at Settings/System Settings/USB Mode it was probably in Auto, which would send it to MTP Mode, controlled by Windows Media Player (which was found by Auto on your Windows computer).
But, obviously, there's no Windows Media Player in Apple. When you connect to the Apple, Auto sends you to MSC mode instead--the basic, universal USB connection, not going through Windows Media Player.
Here's the twist. MTP mode (via WMP) and MSC mode are two separate pipelines into the Sansa. Once the files are there, the Sansa sees them all. BUT your computer can only see the files sent by its own pipeline/USB Mode. The files sent by MTP are invisible to the Apple because they went over via MTP.
So to really get going with the Apple, assuming you have copies of your files, you should format the unit (Settings/System Settings/Format)--which deletes anything you put on. Then set Settings/System Settings/USB Mode to MSC and put your files back on where the Apple can see them. .
The two modes are confusing. But they are on there to give the Sansa more flexibility. MSC, incidentally, works with everything--even Windows--so it's the better mode for most people. It seems there is a version of Overdrive for Mac, so maybe that will work via MSC mode. You could probably find more info from the Overdrive site or your library.

  • I bought an iphone4s before my carrier put my sim in it i updated itunes now wont work with my sim

I bought an iphone4s before my carrier put my sim in it i updated itunes now wont work with my sim

    Hello Aaron1658,
It sounds like you are unable to activate your phone with the SIM provided to you by your carrier. Try these steps in the following article to help you troubleshoot what it happening, named:
    iPhone: Troubleshooting activation issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3424
    Symptoms
Your iPhone may display one of the following messages when you attempt to activate it:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
"The iPhone is not recognized and cannot be activated for service."
"iTunes was unable to verify your device."
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.
If this is not what you are referring to, would you provide some more information about what is happening? Any error messages, prompts, etc.?
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

Does anyone know the YAHOO authentication method and port? I recently installed the new OSX 10.8.2 software and my mac mail wont work.

    Hello,
I have no idea what you're talking about, however my Mail stopped working when I
had to add a new e-mail address for my Hotmail account.
My new Hotmail address works, and seems to get e-mail from the old e-mail address,
which from I've read behaves as a "default" address for the old address.
Apple Mail is linked to my Hotmail account of the old e-mail address.
I no longer know my old password.
Apple Mail will not accept my new password for ny new Hotmail account.
Can someone help me solve this problem WITOUT COMPLICATED SOLUTION!
As I said I have no idea what a port, or SSL or authentication is!
If you do answer, please answer in vert simple steps that are easy to follow, and donlt make matters worse.
    Thanks,
    SB

I connect to the base station fine useing the drop down bit on the taskbar in finder and enter the password and it connects. But when i do network assistant and it asks for me to eneter the password again it just basicly frezzes for a min then says invalid password when i know that it is the write base station password. It did work once but froze again and said could not connect. and when i go into the airport utlity it can't descover the base station even though it says it is connected with a full signal, im doing the excatly same things i did with my ibook but it just wont work. Please can someone help me and tell me what i have to do or give me some support this is my last hope as apple aren't intrested. I will be very gratful!

The software update was for Intel based Mac computers and does not specify Core Duo or Core 2 Duo:
    AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001
This update is recommended for all Intel-based Macintosh computers and provides compatibility with AirPort Extreme base stations and networks.
This is the update that generated a fix at www.macfixit.com because some folks have been having issues with connection with their internet provider and some people have had issue with their airport systems just shutting down.
It was part of an auto update that was received. One of my Macs is a MacBook Pro Core Duo (not Core 2 Duo) and this upgrade (download) was part of the update check that is automatically performed.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • PC based iPod connected to Mac no longer works

I was told that I could connect my PC based iPod mini to a Mac without doing anything in order to listen to my music at work where we use Macs. The second I plugged the USB in the iPod went dead and the Mac restarted (now the computer seems to restart any time I plug something into that USB port but otherwise is working fine).
Obviously, I was misinformed about the compatibility of the 2 products but, is there any way to get my iPod to work again--in general? I haven't tried restoring it but I tried to do a reset and my iPod won't respond to anything. I am afraid to plug it into my computer now because of how it made the Mac shut down. I have all my music backed up so i am not worried about that but, I am afraid the HD got fried or something?? Or could it harm my computer to try and plug it in and restore it?
    Please give advice!

no one responded to this--thanks people...

  • Connecting to itunes store wont work, but internet works?!

Hi guys. For some reason My mac wont let me connect to the itunes music store. it works on any website and says its connected to the internet(( which it is)) and yea. i need it to work. does anyone know what the problem is? because maybe its the firewall but ive looked and i just got this mac....so yea.

Where is the web page that lists the current status of the iTMS? That would be an easy first troubleshooting step. If Safari works, but iTunes doesn't then my system IS CONNECTED TO THE NETWORK and that stupid message is meaningless. Yes, I've restarted iTunes. No, I will not restart my computer, it's busy doing work. My network works, and all other web pages work, the problem is with the store. A page with a simple, "Hey, we're down for a few minutes/hours/days)" with an ETA would be great.
I want the URL of the iTMS Status Page. If there isn't one then put one up!

  • Itunes update crashed now wont work

I choose to update itunes a few days ago and it got pretty close to being done and then stopped. I gave it a few hours to complete th update thinking maybe it was just slow due to lots of people using it. I clicked to cancel the update and it did not cancel it or put my icon back on the desktop.
now its all jacked up, i cant figure out how to repair itunes because i run it off an external hard drive.
i cant delete everything and reinstall itunes because it says im still updating...
    heeeelp

A warm welcome to the forums!
First, how much free space do you have on what size drive?
Could be many things, but it's best to start with these two steps, whch may fix it also...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Then boot off the HD & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.
More help if that doesn't work.

  • Mac Mail wont work on different internet

I am having a problem with my mac mail and I am hoping someone can help me.
I have a windows live account all set up and working fine and have done since I have had my macbook.
When I am at home, I can send and recieve emails with no problems at all, using my home Virgin Media braodband internet router.
However, when I am at my girlfriends, I can recieve emails, but not send any. I get this message:
"Connections to the server “smtp.live.com” on the default ports timed out.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."
She has a BT Home Hub router, if this is any help.
    Cheers!

you might want to try looking under your support on the computer. it may tell you there. you might just need your updates for the internet. ive had that problem on one of my other computers and that worked for me. but this problem im having doesnt seem to have a solution

  • Syncing a previous iPod connected to Mac now with Windows 7 PC

I have been using my iPod with my Mac ongoing....
now I am traveling and will be taking a netbook/Windows 7. I'll be downloading iTunes into the netbook PC and then putting selected music folders from the Mac into the netbook iTunes.
    My question is:
when I plug the iPod into the now-loaded netbookPC iTunes, will it cause problems of syncing the two together(not work properly, losing existing iPod music, reading song files properly,re-writing music files, etc.).
When it asks me the 1st time if I want to Sync with the netbook iTunes, how do I handle this with the least amount of potential problems ?
    Thanks

So you have stuff on your iPod that right now does not also exist on the computer? If so, you need a way to move the stuff off the iPod onto the computer, correct?
