Connected w/ dock - found by mac, not by iTunes
Hey,
Usually when I connect my iPhone everything works great. But when I connect it through my dock all it does is charge. It does show under USB in system info (says "iPhone" under one of the usb ports) but it doesn't show in iTunes or on the desktop.
If I just plug it in without the dock again it works as normal.
Is there some setting I can change to make it show in iTunes when it's connected with the dock?
Also I wonder if there's a setting in the iPhone to make the ringtone sound as normal when it's in the dock? As it is now it's almost impossible to hear it ring when it's in the dock because it changes mode to earphones and lowers the ringtone.

There must've been someone out there with a similar problem before..
Correct, but the standard recommendation is to quit using the dock in question. There is absolutely no way that support can be provided for third party hardware. IF the mfg. of the dock can't supply support or you don't know who the mfg. is, how do you really expect anyone else to provide such support.

Share downloaded movies on Mac (not from iTunes) with Apple TV
Ciao Guys,
Please, I need your urgent help and thanks in advance.
A friend have some downloaded movies on her Mac but she would like to watch those on her Apple TV.
Are there any chance for that? She has MediaPlayer on her iPad but we are searching another way for the shearing...
I only have iTunes movies so absolutely no idea about it.
She couldn't move those to the iTunes because of the extension of the files.
A BIG THX for the answer if I got...If the Mac is very recent and running Mountain Lion it may be possible to Airplay them to AppleTV.
If you want to access them directly on AppleTv they would hav eto be converted to an appropriate format and added to itunes.

What could be cause of problem?Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Can you connect a pc to an iMac (to move iTunes library)?
Since nobody answered my detailed request (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5225308?tstart=60) maybe someone will be able to answer the key question.
Can you connect a laptop (with an external hard disc attached already) to an iMac, and iMac recognizing both as "hard discs" so that I can move my iTunes library from the external harddisc to the iMac?YesEtc wrote:
...I need find a way to have the mac see the drive while iTunes is opened with the "X" drive attached and recognized...
Not on a Mac you don't. OS X doesn't use drive letters and doesn't require them.
On the PC, go to the iTunes folder (I don't know where it is stored in Windows) and copy all the .itl and .itdb files to the iTunes folder on the external HDD. Connect the external to your Mac. Launch iTunes while holding down the Option key. In the dialog select "choose library" and navigate to the iTunes folder on the external. Select and click OK. This will set up iTunes on the new Mac just like it was on the PC. You'll need to have the external HDD connected and mounted before you launch iTunes so you can listen to the music. -
How to connected my Creative WP-350 Headset to my iMac. The device has been found it will not connect?
You're profile indicates your Mac has v10.5.1 installed.
If that is correct, you need to update to v10.5.8.
Click Software Update from your Apple menu drop down menu or open System Preferences > Software Update.
After the update is installed, restart your Mac.
Turn off the printer then turn it back on then try printing via USB.
If that didn't help, try here > Mac OS X 10.5: Included printer drivers -
Mac NOT automatically connecting to preferred wifi network
Hi,
I am facing a problem with OS X 10.9.1 (Mavericks) wifi connection.
I use a Time Capsule as a base station and 13" Macbook Air (2012). The base station is connected to the internet through a PPOE connection.
Here are the details.
Since upgrading to OS X 10.9.1, my Mac automatically connects to preferred wifi network ONLY WHEN the wifi is available at start up or when the Mac wakes up from sleep, but NOT OTHERWISE.
Before the upgrade, the Mac automatically connected to the preferred wifi network not just at start up, but whenever the wifi became available.
In other words, after the upgrade, if I boot up the Time Capsule base station and the Mac simultaneously, the Mac scans for the base station wifi network (this is configured as the top preferred wifi network) at start up, but since the base staion is still booting up, the Mac doesn't find the wifi.
But once the base station has booted up and wifi is available, the Mac no longer bothers to join it. At this point, the Mac is also not able to do Time Machine backups to the Time Capsule because it is not able to locate the Time capsule disk over the wifi.
This situation remains (i.e., the Mac being not connected to the wifi) unless I do ONE of the following:
1. I manually select the preferred wifi network using the wifi icon at the top of the screen; OR
2. I put the Mac to sleep (by closing the cover) and then wake it up. On wake up, it connects automatically to the preferred wifi network; OR
3. I turn of the wifi (using the wifi icon on the top) and turn it back on, at which point, the Mac automatically connects to the preferred wifi network.
I have tried everything possible including contacting Apple support, but so far the issue is unresolved.
Appreciate any help you can provide.
PremI have had wireless problems intermittently for a year, and seriously for 6 weeks. Apple denied the issue and was no help in spite of many tens of thousands of people on their own discussions complaining. I found a post suggesting a couple of things which fixed the problem. I don't know if both are necessary, but the first by itself does not solve the problem.
Lock the channel of your router to channel 1, apparently Apple and 802.11n don't play well together on higher channels. When this becomes a standard this will be resolved I hope.
Open your network preferences, select 'airport' and advanced. Delete unused networks. Select your network.
Open TCP/IP and write down all the settings, configure iPv4 manually. Enter the settings manually. Turn off IpV6.
Open DNS and write down your DNS server. Delete it and re-enter it manually.
This has worked on 2 macbooks and an iMac for the last 3 weeks with no network drops.

Currently my main Administrator account on my Macbook Pro is having problems after login.
After login, the dock crashes, the monitor flashes gray and dock reloads. Activity Monitor shows insane CPU usage from the dock. (Up to 170%)
From my assessment, the error lies in the dock. However, after trying various methods such as clearing caches files, and removing duplicated files. The problem still occurs.
The following are the error messages from the console.

I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions. It sounds like there are a couple things going on here. First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

My ipad 3 is frozen on the plug into itunes page - it won't turn off or on - just stuck. I have tried to follow advice I have found on these pages but I don't know how to connect the ipad to my mac (the advice is to connect ipad to mac and there is no usb port on an ipad). If anyone could help it would be appreciated. Going nuts.
I think you should probably also read the iPad User Guide. You didn't say what version of iOS your iPad is running, so here's the links to both the iOS 6 and iOS 7 (PDF) versions:

My iPhone 4s has been replaced at least 4 times within a year and nobody at the genius bar seems to know what's wrong but every time I plugy phone into my cable that connects my iPhone to the stero in my car and when I disconnect it, my iPhone think its in dock mode and will not play music or sounds with our being plugged into a dock. However it will occasionally make sounds when a text comes in but that's about it. I really don't know why this happens or how to fix it, HELP!!
