Connecting 11.1.0.7 client to 9.2.0.6 database gives TNS-12547 lost contact

I just installed 11.1.0.7 client on win 2003 server and tried to connect to 9.2.0.6 database but both tnsping and sqlplus is giving 'TNS-12547: TNS:lost contact' error
Please note that the same client 11.1.0.7 is connecting to database 9.2.0.8 and higher i.e 10.2.0.3 and 10.2.0.4.
Please advice as why 11.1.0.7 client is not connecting to 9.2.0.6 database and giving 'TNS-12547: TNS:lost contact' error.

1)ping is working?
2)disable the firewall running on the windows machine,Check firewall at network level is affecting this connection
3)listener is up and running on the EBIZ side and u can connect using the service_name of EBIZ in EBIZ server?then copy the service_name entry form the server tnsnames.ora to the windows machine and try
4)Check at server o/s level are there any restrictions for other machine to get connect,Can u telnet to the server from this machine?

I know everyone is probably scratching their heads, but has anyone every connected to a 9iR2 64 bit database using a V7 OCI drivers to connect to the database? The V7 OCI works fine with 8.1.7.4.

Sort of. The 9207 database is running on a HP-UX cluster that is used to host many databases, some of which are 8174, some of which are 9207. So, luckily, 8174 is already installed so it was as simple as creating a new listener in this home for the 9207 database.

I have started my listener from 10.2.0.5 home , which was in 10.2.0.4.
from that point am having issue connect to 10.2.0.4 databases which are in restricted session(DR db)
when I try to connect to databases which are in restricted session it says TNS connection closed. databases which are open am able to connect.

My system seems to be hanged , so I restarted my RHEL 4 linux with ORACLE 10.2.0.4.

I'm trying to connect from ORACLE 9.2 client to 8.1.7 DATABASE. The client is on WINDOWS XP. But I'm getting connection timed out error message. What's wrong with that ?

Can you connect to the 8.1.7 database from other clients? Can you verify that the listner is up?
Can the 9.2 client connect to some database?
I'm guessing that the 8.1.7 database listner isn't up or that the tnsnames on your client isn't set up correctly.

2)The 9.2 client is able to connect to some other database on the network which is 8.1.6.2.
3) I have cut and pasted tnsnames.ora from the working client( but that client is 8i client ).

There is nothing in your connect string to tell sqlplus which database you want to connect to. Therefore it assumes (by default) that you want to connect to a *local* database whose name is identified by the value of the environment variable ORACLE_SID. And there is no such database, so he gets the reported error trying to establish a connection to a non-existent local service.
You need to specify your target database, thusly:
SQL> conn sys/syspw@rmanp as sysdba
BTW, connecting to a remote database as sysdba is considered by most DBAs to be a big secruity breach. If you really need sysdba privileges (rare) you should be logged on to the database server machine with proper OS credentials, and work from there.
Also, TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS PERCEIVED AS SHOUTING.

Multiple Backend Connected to the same SRM client.

We have an interesting requirement.
We have an SRM 5.0 client with R/3 4.7 backend. Now we need to add another instance of ECC 5.0 to be connected to the same SRM client ( either on the same org stucture or a different org structure).
I am facing difficulty in doing the material replication.
I have the inbound queue in SRM blocked and I and getting the error message LOGSYS_FOR_GUID_CHANGED.
This lead me to the notes 588701 and 765018. But I am not sure this would actually solve the problem.
I have also seen the following thread which indicated that one CRM client should point to only one R/3 instance.
Downloading basic R/3 objects into CRM with brand new systems
Has any one so for integrated multiple backends to the same SRM client? What was your approch to the requirement? Inviting your views and opinions to this issue.

We have done the same thing. In case of multiple backends and also if systems are refreshed with other instances (client copy), the logical system ID will be changed.
So we need to run the report mentioned in the said note and run the replication.

DRM Batch Client Error - ORA03135 connection lost contact

Hi All,
We have the DRM 11g installed on Windows machine and migrated this server recently to a new datacenter(DC1) however the database connected to this DRM server is still on the original datacenter(DC2).
DRM works fine after the migration except for few issues in the nightly jobs scheduled on DRM server for doing exports. The scheduled job is invoking DRM batch client and failing with the following error.
Unexpected error in drm-batch-client: Error received from DRM Process Manager service using address: net.tcp://localhost:5210/Oracle/Drm/ProcessManager/: ORA-03135: connection lost contact
However this error does not occur if we restart the DRM services(thru config console) and rerrun the batch client automatically. Looks like DRM is loosing connectivity to the application server process , is it anything do with the timeouts between IIS and Weblogic server ?
Any insights on this problem would be really helpful.

This isn't going to be connection between IIS and Weblogic as DRM does not use Weblogic (aside from the manual configuration for the DRM web service). The error that you're getting is being returned from your database server and seems to indicate that the connection to the Oracle database server has been dropped for some reason. Connectivity Issue FROM Server To Client

I am having one trouble when i am connecting my server to the clients some of my client machines are working and some of the client machines are in remote locations.In Remote locations i am facing a problem when i want to upgrade the client machines to PL 20 and when i am trying to update it is taking a long time and after some time it is giving a message box as COMMUNICATION LINK FAILURE and DATABASE CONNECTION IS LOST OR BAD CONNECTION.So please help me to resolve this problem and when i am running ADDON'S User Defined Objects are getting deleted and for some ADDON'S it is saying it as Wrong EXECUTABLE DIGITAL SIGNATURE.

The connection to the other places from the main server to other by Cable is working fine but when it is connceted to the other place which is a wireless connection is taking time for upgradation and also installation of the addons as it is utilizing the maximum network and unable to load the Customized addon even though when it is installed. and when i continously checking the ping suddenly at one point of time it is saying request timed out and application is closing from the client system.

When trying to run the Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports Client over a non-Cisco VPN, the user receives an error.
The major failure is the connection problem between Historical Reports Client and Cisco Unified CCX Server.
Error :
An error occurred while communicating with web server.
All available connections to database server are in use by other client machines. Please try again later and check the log file for error 5054.
This works fine when connected to through Cisco VPN .
Is the third party VPN/ customer's web based VPN blocking the connection between UCCX server and HRC machine ??

After restarting i get a message saying that Windows could not connect to the Group policy client service

The message i get is the following:
Windows could not connect to the Group policy client service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system As and administrative user you can review the system event log for details why the service didn't respond.
This happens after restarting my laptop. It takes longer than usual and once it has booted up and loaded Windows Vista, I get the message on the right bottom corner as a window popping up.
I can still use my computer but a lot of my user account settings are not there.
I fixed it temporarily by rebooting using the option: boot up using my last successful configuration. Bu once I restart again the same thing happens.
How can i fix it?

SAP DB Connection from SAP BI on HP UNIX to MS SQL External Database

I have a scenario to configure a SAP DB Connection from SAP BI System on HP UNIX 11i to the external legacy system MS SQL 2000 Enterprise for data upload. I am interested in connecting the SQL server as a Source System to the BI System.
I read through documents mentioning about installation of a Client driver in the SAP BI System, I also downloaded the JDBC client software and tried installing the same, but the steps as mentioned Setting the CLASSPATH or connecting to the server did not work.
Please help me in connecting the SQL Server as Source System, I would like to know in detail about the same - so kindly help me with the links to documents and guides about the same.

Short answer: this does not work.
Long answer: To connect directly to the database you need
- a database client for the source system
- a database interface library for the source system
Both of them are not available for HP-UX if the target database is SQL server --> doesn't work.
What you can do is: add a Windows application server to your BI system (heterogeneous installations work and are supported) and add there the database client and the database interface library.

Problem:
Im having frequent disconnection after abnormal shutdown due to power failure.
starting Oracle 11gr2 Im getting Error: ORA-03135: connection lost contact
Im on Laptop running Linux Centos 6.3 Host.
and Im running Oracle 11gr2 on Oracle Enterprise Linux in VMware (Guest).
When attempting login from the Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control
I got Error: "Your username and/or password are invalid."
The alert.log is at the bottom

By chance do yo have a recommendation where can i look for to find the source problem?
