Connecting 2 phones to PC suite?

Hi,
Both me and my wife have got new N70's, I have installed PC suite from the disk version 6.6.16 I have backed up my data ok but when I connect my wifes phone it will not make a connection, is there any special way to get a 2nd phone to connect? I cant see the need for installing it twice but does it need it?
On windows XP with service pack 1 installed.
Look forward to your reply's, in the mean time I am going to download the latest version and try that.
K

YOu can check your PC suite version by right clicking the phone icon in windows tray area (bottom right row in your PC screen) and selecting "about Nokia Pc Suite".
You have an old version, latest is PC Suite 6.70.22 so you can try to update if you like.
Depending whether you have original NOkia CA-42 or non-original, problems like this with connectivity may happen.
You can try different USB ports(if you have) in your PC if that helps, cleaning the connections both in phone, cable and PC might also help.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Ths is a shot in the dark, but if you're using a USB cable, you might need to install
    Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_eng.msi
Apparently later versions of PC Suite shouldn't need it, but my experience suggests otherwise.
    Good luck!

  • Cannot connect my phone to PC suite

I have a Nokia 7373 and I am trying to connect it to the PC suite using bluetooth. The version of PC Suite I have is 6.83. I am also using Windows XP.
I have done everything the manual told me to do, and bluetooth is switched on.
If anyone can help me with connecting my phone it would be much appreciated!
    Thanks.

    | am also having the same problem connecting my nokia 7373 to the pc suite with bluetooth, I have had to buy a USB cable, despite having just bought the bluetooth.
I am using windows XP home edition, and IVT bluesoleil, version 1.6.1.4, release 050606, and have updated the pc suite to version 6.83.14.1, I have tried fixing the pc suite in add/remove programmes, and fixing the pc connectivity solution, I have also uninstalled it, and then saved it to my PC and installed rather than running fron the website, but nothing works!!
When I try and connect via bluetooth it gives me a code open media, and tells me to check all the drivers and software needed are available. It has on occasion allowed me to get past this and tick the box for the bluetooth, but then when it finds my phone it is greyed out, and cannot connect with it, even though I can do it with the actual bluetooth programme, unfortuanatly the bluetooth programme isnt as good as been able to use the pc suite, hence why I have bought a USB cable!
I never had a problem using the PC suite I had with my Nokia 6230i, so I can only think it is the updated version of PC suite that has a problem?

  • Unable to connect Nokia X6 to Ovi Suite

I have installed Nokia Ovi Suite on my pc (Windows 7) but when I try to connect my Nokia X6 I keep getting this message
Device Driver software was not successfully installed
Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed.
    MTP USB Device - failed
I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling Ovi Suite but no joy.  Annoying thing is that I can connect to Ovi Suite on the netbook ok but not the new all singing all dancing main pc!
Would appreciate any help with this as I am unable to connect my phone to Ovi Suite - thanks

Uninstall Nokia Connectivity Cable driver thru' Windows Control Panel and reboot both PC and Phone.. Then connect again and wait for the Drivers to install. Make sure the PC is connected to internet to enable download of the latest drivers if required...

  • Absolutely impossible to connect nokia phone in pc...

For me it's now absolutely impossible to connect nokia phone in pc suite mode. Not the first time for problems with PCsuite either. It has been working shaky for a couple of months but now it absolutely refuses connections in PC suite mode. USB connection are never any problem but I cannot sync the phone in this mode unfortunately so it does not help. Have tried all uninstallations and re-installations possible but nothing helps. Only a total re-install of the computer will probably help. WHY is PC suite such a unstable program! I think the concept is great and very nice but the connection part of this program simply have to be improved soon! Or make it possible to sync the data in USB mode to make the everything so much simpler.
    /Peter
This time the problems happen with Windows XP and Nokia 6110N but it has been with all software versions, all Nokia phones I've had.

2630 Bluetooth. Can anyone suggest a step by step instruction "How to" to connect my Nokia 2630 to my PC through Bluetooth. I believe this is the only way to download my Nokia 2630 information.
Have to confess - as you can tell already - I'm a bit of luddite and very new to this. I don't know how Bluetooth technology works. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Colin.

  • I can't connect mu phone with nokia pc suite

when i try to press tab 'get connected' on screen show ''there is no avaible connection type and therefore connection to phone cannot be established.the wizard will exit'' after this show ''failed to detect avalaible connection types, please reinstall your nokia pc suite''
I do that but its same situation?
    help please

This is usually a problem with the Cable drivers.
    You need to:
    - uninstall PC Suite
    - uninstall Cable drivers
    - uninstall NSU
    - (optionally) run the clean up tool
    - (optionally) clean the registry
(if you don't know how to do this, don't try)
    - (optionally) delete all Nokia-related directories from my docs
    - restart the PC
    - download and install PC Suite and NSU
    - when prompted to attach the phone, wait while ALL the drivers are installed (takes a while)
    - restart the PC
There's also a registry fix described somewhere on this forum that may also help.

  • OVI suite won't connect any phone

I'm having a regular issue with OVI suite; it won't recognise any phone connected to the PC!
When this happens, which is quite often, the PC recognises a device being attached (the usual USB jingle), the phone recognises the connection, even OVI Player recognises the phone just fine; but OVI suite won't. Connect new phone picks up nothing.
It happened with my old N85 and does with my new C7. I now have version 3.1.0.86 but it happened with previous versions too.
The only way I've found to "wake it up" is to repair the installation in Wondows control panel, it then works fine. In fact I just updated to veriosn 86 today but that new installation didn't work till after I'd repaired it!
    I have XP SP3 installed.
I realise this could be a PC issue not an OVI suite one but how come OVI player works fine so I can load music etc?
Any ideas anyone please? Repeated "repairs" are getting annoying!!
    Thanks.

    Could you please try this?
Could you please try this and check?

  • Can't connect Nokia 6360 phone with PC Suite

I upgraded the free 6085 from AT&T to a free Nokia 6350.  I have the USB cable to connect my phone to my Win XP PC  and was looking forward to transferring ring tones, etc to my new phone.  Unfortunately, I can't get the PC to communicate witht eh phone.
When I connect, the PC recognizes new hardware but I can't get the PC suite or Nokia phone browser to recognize my phone.  I checked out the Nokia support page and they don't even list the 6350, despite the  user manual saying PC suite will work with the phone.  I've gotten no reply twice from Nokia's email support and am getting frustrated.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

oops, please disregard, they've got it up now!

  • Why is Nokia Phone to Ovi suite connection such a ...

I  have a Nokia E63 and if I had as much trouble with my computer's network connection as I have with a plain and simple old USB connecttion between the E63 and the OviSuite (PCSuite is the same)  and my windows were not double glazed, I would have chucked the lot in to the garden.
If the phone is attached to the computer when the computer is Cold booted, then no problems, it appears and conversation between Phone and computer is okay.
If the computer is already running, and I then connect the phone, the Nokia connectionapp   insists there is no phone connected and will not find or make a connection.
The phone reports it is connected by PCSuite and USB, unfortunately the Nokia software on the PC doesn't think it exists.
Probably because in Control Panel-System-Hardware tab the Nokia items now have the Yellow exclaimation mark on them.
Properties on them shows "This Device cannot start".
Even manually forcing a Start doesn't solve anything.
If I go to  Control Panel-Add or Remove Programs, find the  Nokia connectivity cable driver and force a repair, then upon connecting the phone I get a note of  a new device and some stuff is reinstalled.
USB Mass storage is not a problem, regardless of when the phone is connected.
I've had a look around the net for advice or solutions, but the general concensus seems to be, Nokia connectivity is the Brown waste stuff.
FWIW. I've uninstalled/reinstalled a number of times, I've changed the USB port used by the cable on the computer, it is connected directly to the computers USB (Rear) port, NOT through a Hub.
I'm totally lost now, so hoping someone here might have a useful thought or two.
Have contacted Nokia support but just got the usual crib sheet answers.
    Dave
Forgot to mention, it is the latest version of the Nokia Connectivity cable driver.
    D.

Summary of  where I'm at now.
I've done the total uninstall... Excise Nokia from the Registry, remove stuff from My profile Application data, and the file from Sys32\Drivers etc, three times.
    Thereafter done the reinstall.
I'm still in the same boat as I was before, the problem resolutely refuses to be fixed.
So Phone connected at Boot works, thereafter force a Nokia cable driver repair.
On XP that's Control Panel- Add or Remove Programs, scroll to Nokia Connectivity cable driver, Hilight it and click 'Change' up will come the Repair or uninstall window.
(Make sure phone is disconnected for this operation).
On Win 7  it's Control Panel- Programs and Features.
Nokia support, via crib sheet readers only seems interested in two things.
    1) Are you using a Nokia brand cable?
    2) We'd like you to go through the total uninstall process...
No ...king chance, after doing it three times already.
So I've worked on this with three total uninstalls.
    Three different cables.
A number of emails and a couple of phone calls from Nokia support, nada.
This problem is only evident on one machine running XP-SP3.
On the Win 7 Laptop it works perfectly okay everytime.
Interestingly, this problem is on  the newest computer I have, only just two years old.
On another old computer I dug out of a cupboard and set up again, also running XP-SP3 the connectivity works perfectly okay.
There's just some niggle between the USB on this particular computer and the cable driver.
I get the impression, not only from this forum, but hints from the support guy that this problem has been around for a while, and my concerns have been escalated to a higher support level.
Luckily I only really need to Sync my data once a week, so I can manage with the Force cable driver repair measure, but if I needed to sync every day, I would be really p*ss*d off about it.
It has been suggested... Why don't I just use the Win 7 Laptop to backup and sync the phone... Think about it for one second... As both the phone and the Laptop are out and about in the 'Wild' world together, it not going to be a very secure backup arrangement.

  • Can I sync two Nokia phones with Ovi Suite?

I have 2 different Nokia phones. I'd like to save my data to my PC, so I've just downloaded and installed Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23.
When I connected the second phone successfully, there was a green link that said something like "Get tips on syncing several phones with Ovi Suite". However when I clicked there, nothing happened.
When I click "Help->Nokia Ovi Suite Help" on the toolbar, nothing happens, no help tips.
The first phone synced all 82 photos and Contacts and messages to Ovi Suite.
I created a new album with that phone's name, and dragged those pictures from "All"  to the new album, to try & keep them organized.
When I connected the second phone all of the Contacts synced (there were a lot) and now they are mixed in with the contacts from the first phone. However the photos would not sync. Then a few photos synced, making a total of 156 shown in All (which included the 82 photos from the first phone). When I would click "Sync" nothing visible happened.
But I did see the photos from the second phone on the PC. I did drag them from the PC into the album created with the name of the second phone.
Now when I look at the photo album with the first phone's name, it says "You have no photos or videos in this album, Drag photos and videos to this album." Yikes! But they are still on my PC.
This is very confusing. I agree with the others, Nokia PC Suite worked well, Ovi Suite seems very confused.
Is any of this uploaded to my online Ovi account?
    Thanks for your advice.

    ronni333 & boing,
Somewhere on the nokia ovi website it says you need to use seperate windows logins. Have one login for work and use that when you use ovi to sync your work phone. Other login to sync your personal phone. I lost the link to that webpage, but that is about all it said.
ronni333 - I also had problem with ovi help, the link appeared to be empty. I was using Google Chrome to surf the net. Problem solved by using Internet Explorer instead.
Hope this info helps you guys.
    Cheers,

  • Nokia 5800 trouble connecting to windows 7/pc suit...

Hey guys, im a new member here and its good to meet all of you.
Lets get down to the nitty gritty..
HP Notebook that had Windows Vista 32 Bit(worked like a charm as a matter of fact..)
Then I bought and upgraded to Windows 7 Premium 64-Bit.
Hmm.  Now My Nokia 5800 acts differently when connected to my pc.  When I open up Nokia PC Suite, the 5800 icon isnt there!  its replaced with some generic icon(this is actually all throughout my comp.  Even when I open Windows Explorer, another generic icon is there..)
Next, I bring up "Nokia Content Copier" or SMS and the options say my phone isnt connected, even though in the start screen of PC Suite, it looks as if it is, generic icon and all..
Now I open up the "Install Applications" icon and it shows that NO PHONE is connected.
Now let me tell you all what else has happened.
Windows Update has apparently installed mtp(usb) files as well as a list of other things.  I thought this would've helped the problem but nothing changed. So Windows tried installing stuff and although it did, the problem was never solved.
I need you guys help.  Its like my phone is now a paperweight.  Help!!!
P.S. OVI Suite doesnt work either..

Try uninstalling other components that are installed with Nokia PC Suite and Ovi, then begin anew,as well doing a registry cleanup (CCleaner)
Otherwise do a fresh repair or reinstall of Windows 7. i use Win 7 64 bit as well and it detects nokia 5800 by default with its own icon in "Devices & Printers"
I heard that you need to install the Suites first then you need to connect the phone somewhere, don't know if that makes any difference though.

  • I can't connect my phone to my pc(via usb cable)! ...

whenever i connect the cable to the phone+pc, the phone doesn't show up on the computer. If I click on the nokia pc sync icon and try to connect it there, my phone isn't even in the phone selector list! and when I click on the connection button, a box pops up that says " cannot use the media modules, please reinstall nokia pc suite (code:mmlistempty)"
so I uninstalled Nokia PC Suite and reinstalled it but its still not working! Help! It worked fine before i don't know why its not working now!

Install the Nokia_Suite if you have not yet done. The latest version is no more called OVI Suite...
If problem remains, un-install Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver thru' Windows Control Panel. Reboot PC and connect the phone. Wait till the drivers are re-installed and see for the difference. Make sure the PC is connected to internet when you connect the phone as it may require to download the latest drivers.

  • How to connect Lumia 920 with PC Suite

    Hi,
I downloaded and installed latest Nokia PC Suite on my WIndows 7 machine. While connecting my Lumia 920 with USB cable to my system, it shows "Quit the transfer mode from phone if you want to use the phone with PC Suite"
I have not been able to find this option in the phone anywhere.. I want to connect and backup my contacts and sync alot of sother stuff as well.
Can anyone please guide me as to how to do this.

I don't want to synchronize to ANY cloud. I want to synchronize to my own PC. Must I return back to my N8?
No, but you wil llimit your phone options and features.
If you are away from home and your phone bricks or gets damaged you have no way of recovering until you get back home. By using the cloud your can access your data anytime, anywhere and your phone and backup data are always in sync without you needing to do anything. If that is not what you want by all means go ahead and try THIS (there are other options.. go Google it)..
You will also HAVE to own/use Outlook for any of these to work.
There are plenty of posts around here which can give you more info on this.
