Connecting 2 USB Devices for recording in GarageBand blue yeti and M-Audio Mobil pre. will they both work together one track each?

I Have set my Audio Midi Setup under Audio Devices to Aggregate Devices and selected M-Audio MobilPre USB and Blue Yeti Microphone.
I plugged my MobilPre into one USB port on my MacBook and the Blue Yeti Mic into the other USB on my MacBook. So I have two inputs
and I set each device for OUTPUT as the HeadPhones from the Blue Yeti Mic. I still cannot record the vocals on the blue yeti and the Guitar on the MobilPre
At the same time even though both show the rec button is active on both. What do I need to do to get these to both work recording at the same time?

I'm not sure what you mean by "mixed with audio in Alsamixer". Can you clarify?
With that said, my problem did mysteriously fix itself after some update (presumably to alsa). Unfortunately, I noticed it in passing one day while I was changing the volume of something in pavucontrol, so I don't remember the exact update that caused it to work. But yes, my current setup does work now: I can listen to audio through my DAC and use the Yeti for recording. However, I have found that use of the Yeti crashes Google Hangouts, although it works perfectly in every other program I've tried.
As documentation, here is my current working setup (it is very similar to the above): in PulseAudio, the DAC is set to be a Digital Stereo (IEC958) output. The Yeti (called an 'Integrated Rate Matching Hub' in pavucontrol) is set to be an Analog Stereo Input. In the input devices section, I have the Yeti's volume set to around 58% (-14.31 dB), which is past the base volume a fair ways but produces decent levels for recording. The DAC's volume is set to 100% (0dB gain, the DAC takes care of the level). In alsamixer, I have the mic level for the Yeti set to 40.
Edit: This is a long-time-later edit, but let me say that when you have multiple USB audio devices, what USB hub and in what order they are connected seems to matter a great deal. If you can't get your Blue Yeti to work, try moving it to a different set of USB ports (controlled by a different controller) on your motherboard. This magically fixes the issue for me.

  • I connect my mic with an M-audio mobile pre usb device.  When I try to record, I can see that my voice is recording but can't hear it during playback.

I connect my mic with an M-audio mobile pre usb device.  When I try to record, I can see that my voice is recording but can't hear it during playback.  I tried different input and output settings but it didn't help.  Any help will be appreciated.

Hear your microphone or instrument as you play and record (monitoring)
You can hear, or monitor, input from an instrument or microphone in GarageBand while you play and record. When you turn on monitoring for a track, you hear the musical instrument or microphone connected to the track’s input. Monitoring lets you hear yourself play so that you can hear the part you want to record as well as the rest of the project.
You can turn on monitoring for a Real Instrument track or Electric Guitartrack from the track’s header, or in the Track Info pane. Electric Guitar tracks always show their monitoring buttons, and you can show monitoring buttons for Real Instrument tracks using a menu command. You can use monitoring with feedback protection to avoid feedback while you play.
    Hide
To turn on monitoring in the track header:
Choose Track > “Show Monitoring for Real Instrument Tracks.”Monitor buttons appear in the headers of Real Instrument tracks. On tracks with monitoring turned on, the button lights yellow.
Click the Monitor button in the header of the track you want to use.
HideTo turn on monitoring in the Track Info pane:
Double-click the header of the Real Instrument or Electric Guitar track you want to turn on monitoring for.The Track Info pane opens.
From the Monitor pop-up menu, choose one of the following:
Choose Off to turn off monitoring. You can hear your instrument only while you record.
Choose On to turn on monitoring and protect against feedback.
Choose On (no feedback protection) to turn on monitoring without feedback protection. If the input level is too high, it may cause feedback (especially if you are using a microphone and listening to your project through your computer speakers).
For an Electric Guitar track, you can view the Monitor pop-up menu by clicking Edit, and then clicking the back side of the amp. The Monitor pop-up menu appears with the input controls below the stage.
You should usually turn off monitoring when you are not playing or singing. When monitoring is turned on, your computer can pick up output from your speakers or monitors, causing unwanted feedback. Using headphones rather than speakers to listen to your projects can help eliminate feedback.
If you select your computer’s built-in microphone as the audio input, in the Audio/MIDI pane of GarageBand preferences, monitoring is turned off for all Electric Guitar tracks to avoid unwanted noise.

  • Connect USB device to lumia??

can i connect USB devices such as pen drive to my lumia (like we can to android) without damaging it??
    nn.m

There is a LOT of great options and features I still miss from back when I used a Commodore Amiga, features which still can't be found in any of today's computer OS, that does not mean I keep b*tching and moaning about it every time.
Some stuff found in older/earlier phone OS have been superseded by more current methods. Back in the N95 days we did not have the (relatively) cheap Internet access we have today which prevented using the Internet in a deeply integrated way we do now.
I get that change is not something a lot of people will adjust to quickly, but all round things are moving towards a more Internet centric way of doing things. You may not like it or even want it, but it is the way things are. I have all my music, my images and videos available to me on my phone through the Internet. And I mean everything, either on Skydrive or through my home server. When I travel using methods that do not offer Internet access (yet) I copy a selection of what I want to the phone.
Windows Phone, by design, is much more centered around using the Internet to get to what yo use/need. I can understand that for some that is not (yet) and option, but if that is so then quite frankly Windows phone may not be for you.

  • How do I use optical input for recording in Garageband 9?

    Hi,
I'm trying to use the Optical Line Input on my G5 for recording in Garageband, using a MOTU 828. I have the 828 optical output connected to the optical audio input on the G5, and I have Digital In (Optical digital-in port) selected in system preferences/sound. But in Garageband preferences, optical or digital input is not among my choices. If I select system setting or built-in audio 2, I get no signal. If I select MOTU 828, it defaults to the analog master outputs on the 828.
I am a Logic 8 user, and I'm able to select the optical input in Logic with no problem. I have my MOTU audio setup set so that the optical output is the default output, but Garageband still seems to use the analog output. I can tell by the record level, which is considerably louder for analog than for optical.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I connected my sons Ipod Touch to my pc and it worked fine. Now, when I try to connect my iPad the following message comes up: One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message.
I checked the cable. It surely is not the cable. If I connect the iPod again it works fine. If I use the same cable with my pc and ipad at work or my other son’s laptop, it is working perfectly. It is only on my laptop where the iPod was connected. Something tells me it got something to do with the drivers that went corrupt or something when I connected the iPod.
I searched the internet and I see a lot of people gets this message. Still no solved answers yet. Is there a place where I can download the drivers again or any other suggestions?
    Windows 7 and iPad 2
    Kind regards,

I was hoping it would be something like a USB device conflict, but now the shuffle is the only thing connected...
This article was one of the ones you linked to above in your initial post
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
Under Part 9. Verify that USB drivers are installed, did you try the steps in If only "Unknown Device" appears?  That appears to be your situation.
Also, you said that the shuffle initially worked well enough to do a sync, then it had the same problem again.  If you can get it to work again initially, before doing anything else, try the following.  Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary tab.  By default, the checkbox for Enable disk use should be unchecked.  If so, check it and Apply the change.  See if that makes any difference.
(If Enable disk use was already checked, try unchecking it and Apply the change.  Basically, set it the "other way" and see if there is any improvement.)
NOTE:  When disk use is enabled, you have to eject the iPod in iTunes before disconnecting it physically.
If the disk use change makes a difference, that may provide a clue about the actual cause.

  • My computer will not recognize my iPod Nano when i connect it. I tried my laptop instead but it said the same thing - one of the USB devices attached to your computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. Can i fix this?

My 16 gig iPod Nano 7th gen was put of power. I connected it to the computer and it started to turn on (the apple appeared in the middle of the screen). Then left it two minutes and the computer went into sleep mode. My iPod nano had gone off and now it will not turn on, or connect to the computer, so i cannot charge it. I am not sure if it is a problem with the usb cable. When I conntct the cable to the computer nothing happens, but then when i connect the iPod to the cable it says 'one of the USB devices attached to your computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it'. Please don't say its broken already

It probably needs to be reset. The procedure is different for different Nano models: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodnano/assistant/itunes/

Error appeared when I connected my camera to iPad I used a camera connection device error  cannot use device t he connected USB device requires too much power
    Thanking you
    Wendy Banks

Some cameras are designed to use the power suppled via USB when they're plugged into another device, usually a PC or laptop. The iPad does not supply sufficient power for a camera. The iPad Camera kit allows for either a camera to be plugged in only for the transfer of photos, not as a power sourse, or the removal of the SD Card from a camera so it can transfer photos as an alternative.

you are running the latest version of iTunes, have no other USB devices attached, have no security software installed, and are directly connected to your ISP source, simply restarting the computer and the iOS device can clear up certain issues that could prevent you from restoring. After restarting the computer and iOS device, attempt to restore again.

How big is your library?  I would recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
    - Backup your library.  Always a good idea before messing with things.
    - Create a new library.   Refer to this article for details:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589.  This won't delete your old library, you're just creating a new empty one.  Also refer to this article to get back to your old library later.
    - Add a few albums into this new library.  Not everything, just a small sampling, as a test.
    - Activate Match on this new library.  You shouldn't have to re-pay, it should just say "Add Computer" or similar.
    - At this point, Match should run again. With just a few albums it should complete in just a few minutes.
If iTunes doesn't crash at this point, then likely there's something about your original library that Match doesn't like - what that is I don't know, but at least you'll know it's not your PC.   If iTunes still crashes, then if could be a number of other things, but probably not your library.   My next suggestion (if you haven't already done this) is to uninstall / reinstall iTunes.   If that doesn't work, then my next ideas you won't like.

  • Hwd -e does not list connected USB devices

USB devices for audio in/out not recognized in hwd -e.
Desired USB Items appear in KDE INFO CENTER: SOUND.
KDE MIXER alternate...USB Mixer... shows OUTPUT  PCM icon but no INPUT device  is shown (thus, no device is connected).
System has udev installed but uncertain whether root permission is provided for the USB devices...namely...USB MIXER and SND-USB.
Spent many hours in stupid search for ...audio group....and ...optical group...
when the reference name for the "group" is...audio devices... and ....optical devices...  This is a common problem in searching out posts..improper nomenclature references.
A listing for ...mixer...is provided but none for ...usb mixer...
Can I assume that all entries in the udev permissions file permit immediate use by root?  Do they have to be edited to function?  The indications are that root owns them all and doesn't need permission.
Sure would like to get USB audio running!!!
Are there special requirements for the USB devices?

    Additional info:
Tried playing a CD track copied onto the desktop in XMMS.  The display shows it responding in XMMS.  There is no audio from the external USB sound device.
The mixer in KDe is set to USB Audio mixer (PCM).  An output ICON appears but there is no INPUT icon( No source connected).

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)
