Connecting 2nd Computer to WRT54G

How do I set up communication between the WRT54G and 2nd computer in another room?

This is a followup to previous question. A tech guy setup the old computer. I do not know the password. How do I go about resettting the password so that
new computer in the 2nd room will communicate with the router. Thanks, DL

  • Voyager 220v Router - How to connect 2nd. computer...

I have already installed the USB drivers from the setup CD and my main computer is successfully connected via the USB port on the 220v Router.
I now want to add a laptop and I understand that this can just be directly connected using the Ethernet cable without needing to install anything else. So the setup CD does not need to be inserted in the drive.
    Is this correct?
Can I insert the Ethernet plug in the router socket without having to switch the router off?

    Thanks John.
Just one query arises from your answer though. You say connect both by ethernet for better connection but the Voyager 220v only has one USB port and one Ethernet port.
On the BT Business Forums someone asked the same question and a BT Employee said to use the other computer connected to the other port.
    BT Business Forum
The other computer I want to connect to the ethernet port will be in the region of 10 to 15 metres away using an extension lead with coupler so that will have to be on the ethernet port anyway to avoid loss of signal.

  • Airport not connecting 2nd computer

HI there I have an iMac G5 and my brother has an iMac G4, We had previously both been able to connect to the internet via the Airport. My brother recently had to reboot the computer as he was having problems. Now he cannot connect to the internet at all via the airport. The modem and airport are next to my mac. On my brothers G4 it now keeps asking for a password which we cannot remember. Is there a way of retrieving this password? If anyone can help it would be of much help.

Hi ok we got it fixed sum how but as my brothers comp is a very old G4 iMac he had to wipe the comp and reinstall all the programs etc. Now it's all back on there etc etc. However we are having the same problem with the wireless internet connection. My G5 is fine however when he attempts to connect it constantly asks for a password. I have rest the airport extreme equipment and still no luck with connection for the G4! It was working fine earlier. I have tried to look for a 'change password' button but cant find it. It asks for an admin password which i have typed in and it works fine on mine. But doesn't on the G4! The G4 is on OSX 10.3.1 and has got a pending update to 10.3.9 will downloading and updating to this be of any use? HELP!!!

  • 2nd Computer Requires a Manual Wireless Network Connection Setting on Powerup

2nd Computer Requires a Manual Wireless Network Connection Setting on Powerup
On power-up, my 2nd computer, a 3 yo IBM R51, requires that I open the Network Connections window, then set the Wireless Network Connection Properties under the Wireless Network Tab, clicking on "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings", before the automatic connection launches to the WRT150N v1.1 router signal.
I just bought the router and have the latest firmware.
My primary computer does not require the above settings change every time.
Is there a selection I can make so this is automatic on power-up or restart of my 2nd computer?

It was already set to automatic on both extended and standard tabs.
For a good measure, I set it to disable, applied, then reset it to automatic and applied again. Still does same thing.
I notice that if I double click on the small icon for the Intel ProWireless Network Card, I get a Wireless Connection Status Window.
This window has a Wireless Settings section where it seems to have a possibly obsolete "Current Location Profile" called ssnetwork (the name of my old network on my old D-Link router that I just changed out for the Linksys.
Anyway, the Network Name (SSID) field is now blank but when it first came up, it had the new name of the network I'm using.
Do you know how I access this "Current Location Profile" so I can edit it and possibly enter my new network name?
There is a button at the bottom of the screen called "Modify WLAN Settings" that I click but nothing launches when I do so.
Now that I manually did the connection setting, my network name appears in the "Current Location Profile."

  • E4200 Can't Connect 2nd Wired Computer

Installed E4200 with an iMac running MacOS X Version 10.6.8.  Wireless connection works great.  Also connected a wireless laptop without a problem.   But can't connect a 2nd computer is wired.  That is a PC running Vista.  I know the wiring is good, because the E4200 is a replacement router in a network that was working fine.  Is this configuration possible?

So the Wireless works great but as far as wired is concern does your MacOS X Version 10.6.8 works as wired ? Check , is there any Static IP address assigned to your Vista computer If yes then make it automatic and restart your computer ....
In case if there is no manual IP address assigned then check what is the IP address that your computer is getting...

  • 2nd computer connected is slow

    Hey,
I got BT infinity and it seems the 2nd computer connected to the 3rd socket on the BT home hub experiences ~3mb/s download speeds whereas my computer connected to the 2nd socket get ~37mb/s (both speeds according to speedtest.net).
I have tried switching the cables around and tried my computer in the 3rd socket and it seems whoever is connected to that 3rd socket will get ~3mb/s anyway. It's strange that every wireless connection has at least 35mb/s download speed and that a wired connection has 1/10th of that speed.
Is there anyway to fix it so that both desktops have a decent download speed?
    Many thanks in advance!

Sounds like you have a router with a bad port.
Probably the only way is to replace the router. If its the HH3 call 0800 111 4567 and complain. Politely but firmly insist that the router is replaced.

  • I have icloud and downloaded new CDs on my 2nd computer.  How do I download the new music into my old computers itunes.

I have icloud and downloaded new CDs on my 2nd computer.  How do I download the new music into my old computers iTunes using icloud.

For your computer first get iTunes to see it by:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    - The transfer iTunes purchases
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Or redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    newer copy
    - Connect the iPod to your compute and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

  • Help connecting BEFW11S4 to a WRT54G

Wanted to try to get a BEFW11S4 to connect to my WRT54G that is already set up and working fine.
Not sure if this is at all possible but it would help greatly if this would work and I didn't have to buy an extra thing to get all my stuff internet access.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi..
You can definitely connect BEFW11S4 to the WRT54G but the connection should be wired only.
    Try the following steps.
    1.      Connect any one of your computer to the Ethernet port of the BEFW11S4 router. Nothing else should be connected.
    2.      Open your internet explorer browser…in the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 (Default IP address). Leave the username field blank……type admin as password (If you have not changed the router password).
    3.      Change the router IP address to 192.168.1.2 (Considering WRT54G has the IP address 192.168.1.1). Also disable the DHCP server of the router.
    4.      Connect a cable from any one of the Ethernet port of the WRT54G to any one of the Ethernet port of BEFW11S4.
    5.      Powercycle the whole network.

  • Purchased songs and movies not visible on 2nd computer in Store

    Hi.
Purchased songs and movies not visible on 2nd computer in Store. To confirm I went to re-purchase and received message telling me it was already purchased. Heeeelllppp! <smile>

The purchased content will only be on the computer you actually downloaded it to unless you somehow move it to the other computer. You could burn content to a CD or DVD, use an external hard drive, a thumb drive, a network connection or, if you have one, an iPod.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Cool! I had a look at the examples and test it. It works.
Here are the steps that I took: (*I had both of my computer connected through a router which I used to connect both of them to the internet, i just plug Ethernet wires from both computer to the router, that's all, no configuration needed)
    1) Open Data Server.vi in my 1st computer
    2) Open Client Server.vi in my 2nd computer
    3) Search for my 1st computer IP address by going to the
    Start (at 1st computer) >Run>enter "cmd">type "ipconfig"
    4) Search for my 2nd computer IP address by going to the
    Start (at 2nd computer)>Run>enter "cmd">type "ipconfig"
    5) Ping the 2nd computer from the 1st computer to check if the connection is ok.
Start (at 1st computer) >Run>enter "cmd">type "ping [2nd computer IP Address]"
    7) Set the port number in Data Server.vi to any desired number (in my case I just choose 6350)
    6) Run Data Server.vi
    4) Set the port number in Client Server.vi to match the one in Data Server.vi (in my case 6350)
    7) Run Client Server.vi
    8) The waveform should appear in the graph in Client Server.vi
    9) SUCCESS!
*now I can change/modify the desired transmitted input to any input I wanted!
    Thanks

  • 2nd Computer unable to operate printer

HP Officejet Pro 8000 works fine in an adhoc network with one W7 Home Edition computer but goes offline with a 2nd W7 Pro computer. The 2nd computer wireless adapter says it is connected to the SSID "hpsetup" but when I try to print the printer is offline.
I may have an IP address mismatch between the printer and the 2nd computer. How do I fix without disabling the working 1st computer?

    Hi,
Please press the Wireless icon on the top of the pritner's front panel. what network the pritner appear as connected to?
What is the listed IP address?
Do you have a router in your house?
Please clarify accordingly to better understand what causes the issue.. I believe your 2nd PC is not connected to your home network but jsut to double check it and prevent affecting the other PC.
If the name listed on the printer  screen is different and it is your wireless router name, be sure to connect the 2nd PC to your router as well.
