Connecting 30GB to Home cinema system

Hi
I have just bought a Samsung TV and Samsung Home cinema system. On the front of the DVD player, there is a USB port. I have tried connecting my ipod to this, but it doesn't seems to work. Does anyone have any idea how I can connect my ipod so that it plays through the home cinema system.

Hi
I've successfully managed to do this with my LG Cinema System (Model : LHT760IA - Link via the USB port. However, you can only play none-protected AAC or MP3 encoded files so anything you purchased from iTunes store will not play. I will also admit that the iPod will intermittently disconnect from the DVD player and you have to un-plug and re-plug to re-activate it making continued use a problem so overall not a very good way of using you’re iPod with your system. Consequently I recommend using the iPod Doc and the AV cables plugged in to the AUX Input socket on your DVD/Cinema system for uninterrupted playback as I now do having given up on the USB port. Clearly LG didn’t envisage the use of the USB port for much more than card readers or digital cameras for picture viewing. Incidentally this problem (the random disconnect) also occurs on my XBOX360 if I connect the iPod via the USB socket on that, so may be actually turn out to slightly related to the iPod itself?

  • MacMini as centre of Home Cinema System

I am looking to use a MacMini as the centre of my Home Cinema system.
The intention is to connect the MacMini to my existing Sony Projector (VLP CX85). I know this is not the best projector for this kind of things, but it is one I have had for some time and I am happy with the image quality for now. I recognise I will need to use a Mini to RGB adapter to do this - I already do that using a Macbook Air. I assume then that I will be able to store all my films on the MacMini HD and use FrontRow to access them and my iTunes library as well as viewing photos/video created with Aperture or iPhoto. Yes?
Woud this be preferable to buying the MacMini Server and using that to do the same thing? Or even the MacTV?
Any pointers to Home Cinema systems which are Mac based would be gratefully received or any other information related to this kind of issue would be helpful.
I already run an iTunes system with three Airport Express points and speakers throughout my house.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Yes. You may run into issues with movies purchased from the iTunes Store and HDCP, though, if you use a VGA connection to the projector.
Woud this be preferable to buying the MacMini Server and using that to do the same thing?
A Mac mini server would do the same thing, but the only advantage would be having the dual 500-GB drives. I'd suggest the standard mini and an external drive if you need more storage space.
    Or even the MacTV?
Presuming you mean the Apple TV, other than price I'm not sure the Apple TV offers a lot of advantage over a Mac mini other than the ability to stream content from iTunes on another computer. Note as well that the Apple TV does not have a VGA output; HDMI and component video only.
    Hope this helps.

  • Connecting IMac to home cinema amp

Hi everyone, basically im looking to connect my IMac to my home cinema amp so that i can listen to audio through decent speakers. It'd be great if you guys could suggest the best way of doing this? Im guessing an optical digital cable would be best but i cant see an optical port on the IMac? i have seen speaker cables that hook into the headphone jack but im not sure if this will diminish the audio quality?
    Thanks
    Bunts

The headphone jack on your iMac also supports optical out (DD 5.1), you simply have to get the cable with optical connection for your amp the other end to connect to your iMac. Another suggestion based on where your home cinenma is in relationship to your iMac is to do a wirelss connection using an Airport Express. The Airport Express has a connection (the same as your iMac) that allows you to stream your music from your iMac to your home cinema.
I have my system set up as the latter because I have (what I consider) a nice home theater system, the amp/speaker section is much much much better than my iMac however I don't want wires all over the place.

  • Equium A200-196: Cannot get all speakers to work with Creative T7900 home cinema system

I run windows Vista home premium, on my Toshiba Equium A200-196, and i have a 7.1 Creative T7900 system.
I cannot get all speakers to work. Only the woofer and two front speakers are currently playing sound.
The sound option in the control panel doesn't give me any options besides stereo speakers.
I have no option of selecting 5.1 or 7.1 speakers and i need to know do i need a software driver (all drivers are showing up as up-to-date), or do i have to change some other option, or purchase an external sound card?
I only have two jack inputs, a mic in and headphone out. How can i get all speakers to work and achieve the home cinema experience?

    Hi there,
I dont think that the sound card is capable to do 5.1/7.1 since there are many more jacks required then only one "sound-output".
If I were you I would purchase a external USB-soundcard which is capable to do 5.1 or 7.1 to deliver you the full home-cinema experience.
Another solution is not existent. Sorry mate.

  • Connect ipod to home cinema with usb

first my ipod was windows compatible and at that time i could play music from the ipod on the home cinema.now my ipod is apple compatible because i bought an ibook g4.and this time i can not play music on my home cinema.
    please help me

Again, the iPod does not play audio via USB. It does play audio out of the dock connector.
What receiver do you have? The new Pioneers have an iPod input with a special cable that includes USB but also includes the audio signals on a separate line.

  • Connecting my Sony Home Theatre System to my many devices???

I have a Sony HT-DDW990 (Home Theatre Receiver with Subwoofer and 5 speakers) and I need to connect it to all the following devices:
LCD TV - Model: Sony Bravia KDL46V2500
DVD Player - Model: Sony DVP-NS78H
Digital Cable Receiver - Model: Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250HD (Videotron)
    Playstation 3
    Nintendo Wii
I need to know first if it is even possible to hook up all these devices together.
Is there a website I can go to that can let me choose the devices I want to hook up to one another? I need step-by-step instructions and also the cables I will need (ex. HDMI cables, Audio/Optical cables etc.).
    Thanks

That TV only had 2 HDMI inputs and the receiver only has 2 HDMI inputs, and it will not upconvert the wii to HDMI. So heres what we will do and need:
You need 4 HDMI cables, one optical cable, and get rid of the Wii video cable and replace it with a Wii component video cable.
Plug one cable from the hdmi out of the receiver to HDMI one of the TV. For HDMI 2 of the tv, plug in the PS3. Plug the Wii into component video 1, there is an optical out on the TV, the optical cable will go to one of the receivers optical inputs.
Plug the dvd and cable box to the receiver using HDMI. The inputs are most likely labeled Cable TV? and DVD.
When watching Cable and the Sony dvd the tv will need to be on HDMI 1, then select between DVD and the cable box on the inputs of the receiver. Video will go to the TV, audio will come out of the speakers.
for wii and the PS3 you will select that on the TV, HDMI 2 for PS3 and COmponent 1 for Wii. To get the audio, turn the receiver input to whichever optical input the cable got plugged in to. This will be the input for the audio when you are using these two devices.
If no sound comes out, then you will need to enter the tv's menu and disable the TV speakers, and sound will then rerout to the receiver.
If you have any more hookup questions, ask. It isn't easy for you due to your limited inputs on the TV and the receiver. I will check back to see how you do.
If you want to make life easier, Keep your speakers and get a new receiver and life will be so easy. Everything can pass through the receiver. Call around for a Sony receiver Model: STR-DH800 | SKU: 9246602, maybe find an open box deal. Everything can pass through that unit, and one HDMI to the TV.
    Good luck.

  • Connecting MACBOOK to home audio system - via 'headphone' jack?

When setting up the MACBOOK to deliver its audio output to an amplifier/receiver, how is that best done?
That is, I assume a y-cable (stereo mini plug-to-(2) RCA plugs) might not be the best way, since it's taking a 'headphone' level signal to what are supposed to be 'line level' inputs.
But are there other better ways of doing this, given that the 'headphone out' is all the MACBOOK has?
    Thanks.

Just realized that was a full size Toslink and not the mini one on a MacBook. You could either use an adapter or a purpose-built full-size Toslink to mini optical.

  • How do i connect my iPod classic to my home theatre system?

I'd like to play my iPod through my LG home theatre system but am sure how to connect it. There's a USB and microphone port on the front.

    Hi Twofishdan,
I think that the easiest way to connect the iPod is via an aux-to-aux cable, which you plug in to the 3.5mm aux jack (headphone/microphone port) in your home cinema system, and the other end in the iPod's headphone jack.
You could also try using your normal Apple 30 pin sync/charge cable, plugging it in the USB slot and connecting your iPod, but this might not work if the home theatre wasn't programmed to connect Apple devices via USB, therefore it's a trial and error process which you might be lucky to work for you.
    Good Luck,

  • Ipod Classic 120gb to Samsung LCD TV and Home cinema

Any help or suggestions would help.
I have just bought a New Ipod Classic 120gb and connected it to my Samsung LCD TV and Home cinema systems. The Ipod connects fine but the order of the music on the tv is all mixed up. Is there anyway to sort out the order so it displays in album or even artist order?

Yes, I bought the dock so I could hook it up to my tv. Then I had to buy the cable, I didn't get the cable from Apple. at the time the cable was $50, I went to ebay & found the same cable for about $20. Just like you, I could not find an answer about why the dumb thing wouldn't work, so I just had do my own experiments. Good luck getting Apple to do anything. They don't seem to want to give anything away or replace merchandise.
    Take care!!

  • Macbook and samsung home cinema

    hi
I'm trying to connect a macbook to a Samsung HT-X620 via bluetooth but unsuccessfully...any ideas? I'm guessing that its due to the Samsung manual reading :
"The Home Cinema System only supports Middle Quality SBC data(up to 237kbps@48kHz), and does not support High Quality SBC data([email protected])."
Not too sure which one the macbook is either...
    Thanks

Well, if the symptom occurs only when connected to your SAMSUNG HT-TXQ120, I would say you've isolated the problem and should start there. If available, I would try using component cables to see if the problem persists; do you have an optical cable? Why don't you try using the optical out of the ATV to the optical in of your Samsung and see if you still get the dropouts in the audio. Trying the different connection methods will further help in isolating the problem. It might be a defective HDMI connection. Have you tried different HDMI cables to make sure that's not the problem? Also, how is your ATV connected to your network? Are you streaming content or is it synced on the ATV?
