Connecting 32 bit XP machine across network to HP Laserjet 2200d on Windows 7 64 bit machine

I am trying to connect a 32bit machine running Windows XP across the network to an HP 2200d Laserjet Series PLC 5 printer installed on a 64 bit machine running Windows 7 - The printer can be seen by the XP machine across the network but when I tried installing printer drivers I kept getting incorrect driver errors. (The HP printer had previously been connected directly. i.e., no network - to the XP machine before I bought the new computer and it worked fine.)
So I went to HP website and found two links on how to connect a 32 bit XP machine to the HP printer installed on 64 bit Windows 7, by setting up an x86 option on the host Windows 7 machine. These web pages are as follows:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02171232&lang=en&cc=us&taskI...
and
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02030517
I carefully followed the instruction and downloaded and tried ALL drivers I could fine on the following HP LaserJet 2200 driver download page - but non of them worked  http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=28862&pr...
I keep getting the error message "The specified location does not contain the driver HP LaserJet Series PCL 5 for the requested processor architecture."  I even downloaded and tried to install the universal printer driver via the Setup.exe file that was downloaded but I received the error: 0x800f0214.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

  • Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine, tried solutions from other threads with no luck, just thought i'd see if anyone else had any ideas, thanks.

Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine so the problem seems confined to Windows 7. I've tried solutions from other threads -
Making sure everything is allowed through firewall
    Rebooting phone/laptop/router
    Disabling ipv6
Disabling all networks except the one curently on
    Re-installing iTunes
    Restoring iPhone
No luck with any of those unfortunately so i just thought i'd see if anyone else is still without wifi sync after trying those as well and if you ever found a fix, thanks.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

  • Sharing HP LaserJet 2200d on Windows 7 to XP machine

I need help sharing my LaserJet 2200d running on Windows 7 with another computer running XP. The HP LaserJet was originally installed on the XP 32 bit machine and it ran fine. I bought a new computer with Windows 7, 64 bit and Windows automatically installed the software for the printer and it works fine on Windows 7. I have printer sharing turned on and the XP machine CAN find the HP printer across the network. In reading the HP web support on this topic I did try to configure the HP LaserJet for both 64 bit and 32 bit (x86) drivers. However, when I follow through the step outlined on this page - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02030517 I run into a problem in locating the proper driver. I keep getting an error message saying that I do not have the correct file. I tried all HP 2200 PCL 5 drivers that I could find on this link, including the universal driver - http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=28862&pr... but non of them worked. I kept getting the message that I do not have the correct driver. The exact error message is "The requested location does not contain the driver for the HP LaserJet 2200 Series PCL 5 for the requested processor architecture. What driver do I need to install on my windows 7 machine in order to allow the HP 2200d PCL 5 printer to be shared with my 32 bit XP machine and where do I find it? Thanks very much, Dan

HP seems pretty damned indifferent to its customers' problems.  I have about the same problem.  My computer has Windows 7 SP1 x64, with a LaserJet 2200D connected via USB.  I have been trying to share it with another computer, which is running Windows XP SP3 x86, on home network.
I am able to use the printer from my computer, but not from the XP machine.  I've tried to download "additional drivers" for the client machine, but keep getting messages "no driver found" after unzipping.  Also have tried installing drivers on the other computer, again to the same messages there.
I've had the printer working on both computers before, but only after hours of fiddling around with different drivers on both machines and then, only by luck it seems, did it work.  Can't seem to get it work this time around.
I usually reinstall Windows (win7) about once a year, and really do not want to have to go through this problem yet again next year.  I want to fix this problem now.

  • New iMac setup from Time Machine across network?

I have a new iMac being delivered today, and I'd like to use my Time Machine drive for the initial setup. However, it is an internal drive inside my Mac Pro. Is there anyway I can do this over a network?

You should be able to use Migration Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities) on your Mac Pro.
To transfer your files from your Mac Pro to your new iMac, see > http://pondini.org/OSX/SetupLion.html I recommend you to connect the Mac Pro through Ethernet as it will be faster, but Wi-Fi is OK unless you want to transfer a lot of files

  • Private network issue - Windows 7 machine not restricting Windows 8 on the network

I have 2 machines at my home, a windows 7 home premium and a new machine with windows 8.1.  The windows 8 machine can get to anything, regardless of user account, regardless of directory, including
hidden files and folders, on my windows 7 machines without requiring any kind of authentication.  This is not the case for a 2nd windows 7 machine that I can connect to the same network - it can't see the first windows 7 machine on the network at all.
I've validated that the advanced sharing options on my windows 7 machine are set to the following (in all the network profiles):
    Network discovery is turned off
file and printer sharing is turned off
public folder sharing is turned off
    media streaming is blocked
file sharing encryption is enabled for 40- and 56-bit encryption (to allow a Vista laptop to share files)
password protected sharing is turned on
I'm not using Homegroup, and have ensured that even the names of each not-used Homegroup on each machine is different, and the passwords for each homegroup is different just in case.
I can go to the File Explorer on the windows 8 machine, and in the network section, the windows 7 machine is visible (why since it is not discoverable?).  If I go to Windows Explorer on the windows 7 machine, I get an error message that network
discovery must be enabled for me to view other devices on the network....
From File Explorer on my windows 8 machine, I can select the C: drive on the windows 7 machine, and see any folder, any file without any restriction.  There is no prompt for userid / password, and the userid I'm using on the windows 8 machine
does not exist on the windows 7 machine.  I can READ anything, I can copy any file from the windows 7 machine to the windows 8 machine, but I do get an error message that I need permission from SYSTEM to save some changes directly to the windows 7 machine
(for example, renaming a file in the windows\winSxS directory.
I really want to have the windows 7 machine discoverable so I can get to the windows 8 machine too.  I would like to force userid/password authentication on each machine (both have multiple user accounts) when accessed from a network.  But
my primary problem is the lack of blocking any access from the windows 8 machine to the windows 7 machine....  Any help appreciated.

    Hi,
"I'm not using Homegroup, and have ensured that even the names of each not-used Homegroup on each machine is different, and the passwords for each homegroup is different just in case."
I am confused about this sentence. Did you use HomeGroup on earth?
In addition, I suspect the Windows 7 and Windows 8 computer have the same local administrator user account and password. Both UNC access and Windows log on use the SLA authentication. The LSA handles user logon and authentication on the local computer,
and if the authentication package processing the logon request supports pass-through authentication, the LSA can also log users on to other computers on the network. So, using the same administrator account with same password will bypass the authentication
    in UNC.
Please change the local administrator user password which you used to access the Windows 7 for Windows 8 machine for test.

I have a Dell Power Edge Server with 1 network card. I have installed VMWare ESXi 5 on it. Created several Windows 2003 Servers Virtual Machines. Networking is working fine all these windows machines. On one of the virtual machines I have installed Oracel VM Server 2.2.2 (Dom0) and on top of it I am trying to install Oracle VM Template for Oracle 11g provided by Oracle. I am having connectivity issues on the Oracle 11gDB (DomU). I can ping and ssh from Dom0 to DomU and vice versa. But I cannot connect the Oracle DB machine from any other machine. I can connect the Oracle VM Server (Dom0) from other computers in my network.
Any clue what the issue is ?
    Thanks,

  • Error Code 0x80070035 shows when I try to Access Windows XP machine from Windows8/Windows7

Error Code 0x80070035 shows when I try to Access Windows XP machine from Windows8/Windows7. in my PC i m installed windows8 and used primary and secondary IP. Primary is used for Access my Domain/Internet and secondary IP is used for access my VPN and
there is no internet on VPN. VPN is only used for my Head Office Appication. After i give secondary IP to my windos8/windos7 PC the Active network status changed to private network and not able to acces windows XP machines. Please Advice...

    Hi,
This error means that the Network path was not found. Was Windows XP locating in the same network as the secondary IP on Windows 8/7?
Please try the solution below.  Use the IP address of the target computer, not the computer name.
    1) Find out what the target computer's IP address is.  It is desirable to give the target computer a static private IP address, for example, 192.168.1.10, so it does not change.  Use the local windows help when sitting in front of the target computer
to do this if you don't know how.
    2) When sitting in front of the Windows 7 computer you want to access the target computer from, open Windows Explorer and in the address bar type \\ followed by the target computer's static address, for example,\\192.168.1.10 and hit enter.
If the target computer uses username/password sharing, after a few seconds you will be prompted for credentials.  Enter the same username and password employed to log on to the target computer when you are sitting in front of it.
The target computer will be added to the Windows 7 computer's Network list, appearing as an IP address instead of a computer name.  Then you can access its shares just as if it were listed by name instead of by number.

  • In DCOMCnfg "Run application on this computer" is grayed out for my application on two Windows 7 machines, but it works fine on all other machines

We have a COM application that is installed on hundreds of machines around the country.  We have instructions included in our install doc of how to set up DCOMCnfg.  On one machine in the field and one machine in our lab (both happen to be Windows 7 machines) the checkbox "Run application on this computer" on the location tab in DCOMCnfg is grayed out and therefore we cannot access our engine remotely.
I turned off UAC before installing  (we found that the install works much better than way)  and it is actually still off.  I do not get any DCOM errors in the Windows Event logs when I try to access via DCOM, I just get the standard -2147023174 Server Error.  I have added CallFailureLoggingLevel to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\OLE and set it to 1 to enable logging, but still no errors in the event logs.
I pulled a DCOMTest utility off of the Microsoft site.  Initially it failed, but there were entries in the event logs indicating that it did not have the permissions it needed.  I opened up those permissions and now that test utility works fine.  So, DCOM is functioning between the two computers.
This application is used with DCOM by hundreds of people, so I know the application should be working properly.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled to verify that everything is registered properly.  I have tried turning off the firewall and the anti-virus.  I am logged in as an administrator
I am at a loss.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
This issue can occur if the current user profile does not have enough permission or related system file is corrupted. Please try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. Assure the current user account has administrator permission. If not, please add it to Administrators Group and then test the issue again.
    2. Restart the machine in Safe Mode and logon to the machine with the account: administrator. Then, please check whether the option is grayed out.
    3. If the option is still grayed out, please try this step.
    a. Open C:\Windows\System32 folder and change the ownership of the ComUID.dll file from "trusted installer" to administrators group.
    b. Rename that file as ComUID.dll.org
    c. Copy the attached ComUID.dl_ file from the Windows 7 installation disk to C:\Windows\System32 folder and rename it to ComUID.dll
    Thanks,

  • I'm suddenly getting the kernel panic message and constant restarts when connected to the time machine wireless network. if is switch to the BT network, all fine. no help found so far as to what's wrong or how to correct, anyone have any thoughts...

Recently upgraded to mountain lion in order to buy the new tall tower for time machine backups. had to get technical support to help with set up as it wouldn't play ball with two computers. all working fine up until last week when the iMac started getting backup error messages. then system restarts independently when using time machine on the time machine wireless network. only stops restarting when I switch the wireless network back to he bt one, which is a pain obviously as can't back up to time machine then.  it has to be a problem with airport utility or something wireless but all says all up to date with software etc. all still works fine backing up from laptop on the wireless network, just the iMac is not happy. any help or thoughts very much appreciated.

Hi, many thanks Bob, what you say is not unthinkable at all, although it does answer the question
"what could I do *instead* of ..." rather than the one I actually asked, but seriously ...
Shutting down might be an answer, although it would clear out my tmp directory - which I might not want to have to sort through looking for things I want to save every time I go to work, and also, now that nvram doesn't seem to work for disabling the boot chime, it can get a bit embarassing booting up in a busy meeting if I have forgotten to mute before I shut down. There are all sorts of other issues, such as editing documents, loading web pages and so on that I would have to set up again.
Your suggestion of letting Apple know is a good one - thank you for the link.
    Take care,
    Mark

  • Problems connecting to Windows XP machines on same network after 10.6.3

    Hello,
It has been a painful experience updating to 10.6.3. One of the issues I am having is after been logged on via WiFi for about 10 minutes I am not able to connect to any of my Windows XP machines on the same network. The only workaround (and a real pain in the rear) is to reboot the MBP.
I am considering restoring via Time Machine to the previous build if that is going to solve the issues with Windows. Anybody else encountering similar problems after updating to 10.6.3?
    Thanks!
    Marcelo

Please search the discussions before posting. Questions regarding using ARD with Windows computers have been asked and answered dozens of times. You could save yourself time in the future.
ARD is for the remote management of Macs only. If you want to control Windows computers with ARD then you'll need to install VNC server software on the Windows machines.

  • Can't connect to FMS from local network machine

    Hi,
I have done the FMS developer setup on one machine say 100.188.34.28 and accessing the media from third server, modified the VOD_DIR . I was able to stream the flv video till yesterday using the rtmp i.e rtmp://100.188.34.28:1935/vod/sample.
But today I am not able to do the rtmp streaming on the same and other machine on the same network.
I am able to ping the machine(100.188.34.28) and telnet(telnet 100.188.34.28 1935) the machine also. But not able to stream the video using rtmp.
Please let me know if I am missing anything?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anjali Rawat

    Hi,
This post is similar to the post http://forums.adobe.com/message/137559.
If we uninstall the FMS server and install it again then it resolves the issue, we will be able to stream using rtmp. This is not feasible to uninstall the FMS everytime and setup the files again to point to the third server to access the media.
Anyone please suggest to resolve this issue?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Sync playback across machines via network?

F or a multichannel projection, we are searching for a way to have upto 10 files (on separate machines - or more ideally on say half the number of machines using diff DVI outs) start at the same time, play and resync at start, repeating.
does anyone have a script for this or know of a way to do it, either in QT or with DVD, without buying an expensive sync unit

with those types of servers, the bulk of the siganl processing is happening in hardware, instead of putting the load on the processor of a computer or computers. It is not very easy to sync playback of multiple computers to a single external control or source.
If you had a dozen computers, you could probably do it by hooking up each one to it's own monitor and looping playback from FCP or another utility, however I can't think of a way you could start them all playing with a single button, or prevent their sync from drifitng once you had...

  • Can't connect 2200d on Windows 7 to XP machine

Hi guys!  Had the same issue with a client.  Just found the solutions brainstorming (and the red bull helped!!)  This is tested on a Windows x64 machine sharing the printer on the network and attempting to connect via a Windows XP machine.  The printer has been previously shared amongst other Windows 7 x64 machine successfully.
The solution is to install the HP Universal Printer Driver - PCL5 version on the machine where the printer is connected locally FOR THE SAME PRINTER THUS CREATING A SECOND PRINTER USING THE UNVERSAL DRIVER.
After downloading the file, it will unzip and start the installation.  Choose the existing printer using the same port ( it will say ie DOT4 - HP Laserjet 2200).  Once it completes, unclick [ ] Set as default and complete the operation.  Now go to the Printers listing.  Under the HP Lasterjet 2200 printer there should be two printers listed - one using the Windows 7 x64 biut driver and the other using the HP Universal driver
Now, on the Windows XP machine, use the same Universal Printer Drviver and find the printer by browsing the network for the computer.  You should see the HP Universal Printer.  Select it and continue with the installation.  Once completed, print a test page.    PRESTO!!!
Hope it works.  In the middle of a my runs so if you need more elaboration, give me a bit to answer back.
