Connecting 6800Ultra VGA (2xMolex) to PSU that has PCI-Express connector
Hi there,
I have a PSU that has 2 PCI-express power connectors (ThermalTake 680W). However I'm still using an AGP video card (6800 Ultra) with 2 Molex connectors.
I would like to try and connect 1 of the PCI-express connectors from the PSU to the 2 molex connectors on the video card (which technically should be fine since the PCI-express connection from the PSU should have enough power for the 2x molex connectors on the 6800 Ultra).
However, I can't seem to find the cable that I need to convert from the single 6-pin PCI-express connector to the 2 4-pin molex connectors. In my case I need the exact opposite from the adapter that is readily available to hook up an old PSU (only molex) to a new PCI-express video card.
Can anyone help me locate the cable I need?
Thx,
Chris.
You may need a Gefen DVI to Mini DP Converter. Although my G5 (In my opinion) is relatively new, it needed this adapter.
When I first tried to hook it up, I very carefully followed the instructions that come with the adaptor. That did not work as the screen picture was broken and continuously scrolled. I took it in to my local Genius who determined that the adapter is made for single processors, and the G5 is a dual processor. According to the genius, if you turn the monitor on before you power on the G5; the G5 will search for its old processor and will not properly recognize the new one. If you power the computer first and then the monitor, the G5 will recognize it as a new model and all will be fine.
I'n not sure I have the explanation correct, but I do have to power the computer first before the monitor.
Hope this helps solve your problem, even if it costs $90+.

Anyone here with a PSU that has 22A on +12V and running perfectly stable?
I just wanna know if anyone else here is or isn't experiencing problems with a PSU that has only 22A on the +12V.
If so please post here. ThanksI would not run it if that is what you are asking.
Here is the deal;
When you start your computer it draws the most energy from the power supply. Things can go real wrong then or if you run at full load for long periods you can also have problems as that power supply heats up and loses efficiancy. If you have an overload circut in the power supply you may get a warning like losing power and having the power LED sit and flash at you. However if a componant say shorts out you could suddenly dump high voltage through the system. What do you think your CPU would do if you hit it with say 24v or some odd thing? It will fry. and as it does your motherboard and practically every componant in your system will too.
Now I am not trying to scare you but rather explain that you are already borderline on power needs. So this stuff I am describing could happen. You decide what you want to do. It's your equipment and your money to replace goodies. The Power Supply is the single most important device in your computer as everything depends on it working right 100% of the time. -

Why does it say I have no service when I connect my Ipad 2 to my comupter with internet thru an aircard. First time user.
Do you have gfxCardStatus installed? Is your monitor set to "Integrated" or "Discrete". You want it set to Discrete to drive the external HDMI display.
Try resetting the PRAM and SMC

Are you sure you have a good miniDisplayPort to HDMI cable?
Do you have another HDMI display you can test against (your neighbor's HDMI capable TV).
Do you have friend that can test the cable using their Mac and maybe their TV or a monitor that has HDMI input. -
My iPod 5 has been disabled and I am wondering if I can restore it without losing everything.
Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

I purchased a 27 inch display and am struggling to find a simple way to convert the Mini Displayport that leaves the display to my 13 inch MBP that has a Thunderbolt input? I cannot seem to find a simple adapter or cable. The Mini Displayport is connected to the display and cannot be removed. The mini displayport cable fits into the Thunderbolt plug....but does nothing. Any solution is appreciated!
It should work plugged into the Thunderbolt port. No adapter is needed. Is the plug pushed in all the way (no metal showing)?
Is the display's power cord plugged in to a power outlet? -
hey everyone.. i have a problem with my 3Gs iphone.. i updated to the ios5 and now when i open it says that i have to connect it with the itunes. when i connect it says that has an error 28 something like that.. can anyone help me to fix it?? Regards
Error 23, 28, 29: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with the white USB Dock Connector cable that shipped with your device, on a known good computer and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value, (00 499901 064000 0), can also confirm a hardware issue. Out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software can also cause these errors.

I connected my wifi to my iMac and was asked if I wanted to download the most current update. I backed up my iPod and did the download. My iPod was able to connect to the internet at my friend's house, but it hasn't been able to connect since then, and the connection to wifi is grayed out. Nothing has changed with the network; just the updated software.
The update occured on 06/08/13 at 10:41 PM
Please help.First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. -

Looking for best cord option for connecting and utilizing iphone and itouch to use in car that has an 'aux' port....thoughts, suggestions?
Thanksdepend on the connector
aux can be jack connector or RCA or various other connector types
aux really just mean analog audio in the non amped form that your dvdplayer and cdplayer and old stereo used
so buy a cable with a 3.5mm mini jack connector in one end and whatever connector your input device use or build the cable yourself -

I just got the iPhone 5s - I am unable to access wifi that has a password including home, office, family's homes - any ideas?
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
At step 6 after you say forget network. Turn off the WiFi and then turn it back on. It should now come up with the network name you want to connect to. It will appear in the list of available WiFi networks.
Click the name of the network and enter the password if it asks for it. That should get you on the wifi.

Dynamically Setting a Variable from a Connection String that has been set by a Config File
Hi Guys
I'm setting up a Master / Slave (Parent / Child) dtsx environment but I'm unable to work out how to dynamically set a variable in the Master dtsx from a connection string that has had its value set by a config file. I'm sure it's possible.
Below is the what I'm hoping to achieve. I've set up everything apart from the highlighted section.
Any ideas?First, what version of SQL Server are you using?
You could switch the problem around. You could set the value of a variable from the config file, then it is easy to use that variable as the connection string source for your connection manager. At the same time you can use a parent variable
configuration to map that variable to variables in your child package.
