Connecting 80 GB iPod to USA Spec Car Adapter

I just brought an 80 GB iPod, after being the satisfied owner of a 20 GB for several years now. I've also been using the USA Spec Car Adapter for over a year now to listen to my iPod in the car. The big problem now however is that the 80 GB seems to be having compatibility issues with the USA Spec, specifically the 1.21 software version of the 80 GB. I get no sound, and the iPod screen blips between the menu and the "OK to Disconnect" prompt. Does anyone know how to remedy this? Will an upcoming iPod software version address this problem? HELP!
(If it matters, I also had Windows Vista installed on my computer. Could that be an possible contributer as well?)

*Wrong cable? It says it is good for 5G but I don't know if that is the ipod I have*

  • Ipod Nano and Icelink Car adapter

Well i recently installed the Icelink adapter on my BMW's Bussiness CD. I bought an Ipod Nano and i am facing a weird issue that noone can explain.
Though the Nano works fine with the CD player in my car, in certain songs "Warning" is displayed in the CD player's screen and either Nano or CD Player turns off and back on.
If i skip the song within 2-3 minutes moving forwards/backwards it works until i reach a song that can be played.
Note that i controll the Nano from the CD Player's menu buttons.
I have also upgraded it to software version 1.1.1 but still it does the same thing and only in certain songs.
It's weird cause all of these songs play fine in any player in my laptop and through Nano connected to my home stereo or earphones.
An other funny thing is that i connected another regular IPOD which interacts with the car's CD Player fine without having issues like the ones i mentioned above.
Does anyone have any idea why this issue occures??
    Thanks in advance.

    Well i figured it out.
In order for icelink to transmit the song played in Nano to the CD Player, all songs must have information related both to the Song title and artist name. Otherwise Icelink can not work properly and interact completely with the CD Player.
The info should be added through Itunes only.

  • Connecting iPod to car radio - USA-Spec

Just installed the USA-Spec adapter to connect my iPod to the factory radio in my Toyota via the CD changer (no factory iPod connector). This is by far the best sounding and most elegant solution I have found - since it's a direct connection and there are no wires showing.
There seems to be an issue with the pause/play on the iPod sometimes getting out of sync with the radio. When you turn the radio off the iPod goes on and visa versa.
Could really use some insight for resolving this - before it drains my car battery.
    Thanks.

Contact the car manufacturer.  Find out if it is compatible with your model iPod Nono.  You must be specific as which model you have in order to receive the correct information from the car manufacturer.

  • IPhone 4S dock connecter quiet while using USA SPEC PA15-INFI ipod adapter for car

    Hello,
I recently installed the USA SPEC PA15-INFI Ipod connector for my 2004 infiniti g35.  http://usaspec.com/userfiles/editor/file/pa15infi_20100120_webuse.pdf  Essentially it plugs into my satelite radio harness in the trunk and acts as an adapter for an ipod/iphone so you can listen to them on the radio.
I personally have a 4S iphone and it works great. Great sound.  Full functionality.  However, I tried using my wife's 4S and the radio recognizes it but when you play music it's SUPER quiet.  Almost mute.  It's only on this phone.  In addition to my phone, i tried an ipod and it works great as well.  I callled USA SPEC and they didn't know the problem.  They said this was a problem with my wife's phone specifically and had no suggestions.
I know my wifes 4S (the problem phone) dock connector works because I just confirmed it on 2 other devices.  Full sound.  No problems.
    Fixes that I have tried:
    Hard reset
    Confirmed mono sound is off
Confired max volume limiter is off
    reset all settings
Thanks ahead of time for all of your help!

I think I know the sound you're referring to, but I had no idea what caused it. I can't recall if it only happenned when charging in the car, but it's bloody irritating.

  • IPhone 4 Car Connection (USA Spec Intergration) And Docking

    Hi,
I'm likely going to be getting the new iPhone 4 when it rolls out on Verizon. First off, please don't tell me how big of a mistake I'm making and alike. AT&T is terrible in my area, and most of the people I talk to (work or friends) have Verizon. If I hear anything about a future iPhone for LTE, then I may rethink, but as it sits, I'll be getting one in February. Data use during a call isn’t a major issue for me, nor is FaceTime… but I do have Wi-Fi connections at home and at work, if need be.
Currently, I have a first generation iPod Touch (16GB, with the current OS that I really cannot remember off the top of my head) which I use in my 2002 Impala with a USA-Spec interface. It is a 3G version, which I've had ever since it came out. Anyways, I saw that they have an iPhone 4 version, so I will likely have to swap the box out when I move to it... which is easy due to where I mount it. All the wires are ran, so it is just unplug and swap.
My question is if anyone has that setup with their iPhone 4, and if so, how does it work in your car? My main thing is music, since I mainly use my iPod strictly as a music library for my car. With the iPhone, I’m hoping to eliminate carrying a phone, as well. From how I read it on USA-Spec’s website, the music will mute and you will hear a ring through the speakers… when you answer, the speakers cut and you use it just like a regular phone. I’m sure that this is a small group of people, but if someone does have this setup, would a Bluetooth headset work? I’m actually emailing USA-Spec about this, but wanted input if there are actual users.
I also have a HMDX dock that I use sometimes to listen to my iPod when doing reports or whatever else for work. I kind of remember it being compatible for the iPhone, but not completely sure on that. Anyways, it just charges and plays music over a speaker… so it should work with the iPhone 4 with the correct adaptor, correct? If I can get away with it, I’d like to use it for charging when I’m at work… then get another one for home.
    Thanks,
    -John

    @SH.
I am sorry you are having this problem. Sure it's convenience, but it is very helpful. I, too, had this problem at first in my car...worked perfectly with 3G, but same problems with 4. Then, when I did get a connection, the audio was terrible. Before, people could hardly tell I was using the car bluetooth..now they ask me to go back to the handset.
Every car system is different and I understand that but what I had to do and what worked was that I got my old 3G phone back in and then with it in the car, I disconnected the device within the iPhone 3G, then in the car system, I had it 'remove paired phone'.
Then, I synched my 4phone from back up and then paired the phone by making the 4 discoverable and having the car system find it...
And all has been well since then.
I hope that works. I would also try calling your car manufacturer and see if there needs to be an update..I had to update my system when I got the 3G...
Otherwise, you may indeed have a defective phone.
    Good luck.

  • Does the iPod Classic work with USA SPEC interfaces

I am very intrested in purchasing a iPod Classic and a USA SPEC PA11-CHR iPod interface to connect the iPod to the factory radio in my truck. The problem is that nobody seems to know if the new iPod Classic will work with this interface, not even USA SPEC. Does anyone have any experiece with this? I have heard that the new iPod Nano's work with this interface, but not like they should. Any info on the Classic and its compatability with this interface would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently using an integration system from NEO car audio in my Mazda 3(which I'm sure all our integration kits are some variation of the same exact unit), not a cheep upgrade either. And I'm having the same lockout issues, "connected to accessory". I somehow managed to bypass it once, and get back to the main menu, but have yet to do it since that one accidental time. The system worked PERFECT with my 60G 5th gen. Apple should have made it a little more clear that they were going to attempt to control every aspect of our lives once we purchased the new ipod. Hey look, guess since they started using PC parts they thought it would be ok to become just like Windows "you will do it our way or not at all"
I will return my 160g classic as well, and go back to my 60g Video. I may consider buying the 160 again later down the road, once Apple has stopped taking what ever drugs they are on that’s impaired their judgment to the point of stupidity. They even disabled the video out, you have to purchase their "NEW" video cable in order to hook the classic up to your tv or av system.
    MORE THAN UPSET!!!
Apple get a grip! If you start down this road, you will loose the large following that has taken YEARS for you to gather. Are you sure you want to start this now?

  • Anybody using a USA Spec (or any brand) car connector with your iPhone?

I am interested in purchasing the USA Spec PA11-GM connector to integrate my iPhone with my '04 Tahoe. Their website claims compatibility with the iPhone, but I am curious if anyone out there has tried it.
If so, does the warning about an unrecognized accessory come up when you connect your iPhone? How does the phone function when connected . . . can you hear the caller through your stereo speakers? Are there any drawbacks?
I'm open to any other brand of car connectors also. The FM transmitter just doesn't do it for me. I'm looking for a direct connection to my car stereo.
    Thanks.

I have used the iPod on my iPhone a few times with my JVC head unit through an aux input adapter. It sounded o.k. After I turned off the sound check in the iPod settings, it was loud and sounded great.
I have yet to receive a call when it was connected. Maybe I should try it to see what happens.

  • Can i connect my ipod classic to my car radio via bluetooth so that I can listen whilst driving?

Can I connect my Ipod Classic to my car radio using bluetooth (or any other way) so that I can listen through my radio whilst driving?

Yes, get an iFM transitter from eBay or Amazon.
Search for Griffin or Monster or just iPod Classic FM transmitter and charger, they are inexpensive less than US$30.
Get one with charger or else you iPod might run out of battery faster.

  • Pioneer car cd player wont connect with my ipod. I continue to get "error 19"

Pioneer car cd player won't connect with my ipod. I continue to get "error 19". I've tried everything in the book and I can't get either my ipod touch(2nd gen) or my iphone 4 (both with the latest updates) to work.  Pioneer unit model # is DEH-P8300UB

The iPod is designed to work with iTunes, you can't load songs onto it without either iTunes or some other iPod manager which you would still need to download. Without software on your computer to manage your iPod then it's pretty much useless, explain to your grandparents that the iPod will not work without iTunes. If you need to explain to them what's required then let them have a look at this page: iPod nano Fast Start: The New User's Guide to iPod nano

  • I want to connect the ipod directly to the car 's speakers without any amplifiers, is there any danger to burn the ipod?

I want to connect the ipod directly to the car 's speakers without any amplifiers, is there any danger to burn the ipod?

No, but it will not work. The iPod does not have an amplifier in it that is powerful enough to drive the speakers in your car.
So, do you have a stereo in the car, either factory fitted or one you have had fitted after it came out of the factory? If you do, check to see if the car's stereo either has a dedicated input for an iPod or an auxilary (aux input) socket.
Some modern cars (for example, my 2006 model Mazda 3) have stereos that can be fitted with iPod connectors. I paid to have one fitted to my Mazda's factory-fitted stereo. So now, I connect my iPod to the car's stereo via a dock connector and I have limited control of the iPod from the car's steering wheel. Some cars have more sophisticted control than mine does.
Alternatively, if the car's stereo has an Aux input socket, you only need to buy a headphone-to-headphone lead and connect from the iPod's headphone socket to the Aux input.
If you don't have either of those options, another method is to use a transmitter. These small radio transmitters are connected into the headphone socket of the iPod and then transmit the audio (like radio) so that you can tune your car's radio to the same frequency as the transmitter. You control the iPod as you do when using headphones. The sound quality will porbably not be as good as the dedicated dock connector method, but it's reasonable.

Not all car systems are compatible with the iPod touch.  Does the documentation/website for the car system say it is compatible with an iPod with iOS 5?

Then my last suggestion is to Reset it, while connected to the BMW Audio.
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.

  • Charging iPod Nano in the car

From other posts in this area it seems that the iPod Nano is able to be charged via an Apple Firewire/iPod cable but it will not sync (transfer tunes) via the Firewire cable.
This seems OK provided that I can continue to use my Griffin car charger to charge the Nano (I connect my current iPod headphone socket to an iFire amplifier and then directly to the car speakers
    (see http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/aoaug/macosx.html#hifi )
Also I should be able to use my old iPod AC adapter with the firewire cable to the iPod dock connector. My main requirement is to be able to charge the iPod Nano will travelling when I dont have access to a computer with USB.
This all depends on being able to use the connector cable from the previous model iPod (20Gb) with teh Nano.

Yes your old iPod chargers will work as long as you can use a cable that connects to the bottom of the iPod (dock connector)
Also any charging accessory should work again as long as it can be connected as the iPods all required the same charge voltage, etc.

  • Music volume gets low when iPod connected to an iPod interface?

    hi,
i have a 4th generation ipod, when i connect the ipod to the ipod interface in my car the volume gets very low.....
i have tried connecting my ipod in others cars with ipod interface, its the same issue with the others system also....
but it works good when connected with aux.
please help me find a solution....
    thank you

This is normal - cant adjust the volume from the iPod if we connect it via dock (the bottom of the iPod). If you would like to adjust the volume with the wheel of the iPod, then you should plug your iPod via its earphone jack - of course, different cable i.e. minijack to RCA audio cable

  • Ipod nano 5 in car use

Why when the ipod nano 5 was designed was no thought given to in car use?
It is impossible to connect a 3.5mm jackplug to the car's auxilary socket, and connect the USB charging cable  at the same time, as there is insufficient clearance between the plugs!
It is also impossible to find a slim enough jack plug,or auxilary cable to enable this!
Would it have been possible to mount the 3.5mm jack socket at the top of the nano chassis, and keep the USB cable socket at the bottom of the nano chassis?
