Connecting 8520 to external GPS

Hi!
I've seen a few other messages about my problem, but I still don't know how to solve it.
I have a BB Curve 8520. I want to use a running app and because the 8520 doesn't have a GPS, I bought an external one; B Speech keychain GPS.
My BB can find the gps en it shows that they are connected, but when I use the navigation on BB maps of MapMyRun there is no connection.
Please help me!!

I've used the Freedom Mini GPS dongle with success, it works.
i don't know about your model. Is it compatible with BlackBerry?

  • I cannot connect BB 8520 with external GPS Holux via Bluetooth. Please Help!

I've bought a M1200 HOLUX gps and I'm trying to sincronize it with a Blackberry Curve 8520. The problem is:
    - BB finds correctly M1200 via bluetooth, and sincronizes well with the the PIN
    - M1200 Holux appears in bold just a few seconds after sincronization.
    - But then, M1200 appears only in plain text (not bold) as it's not connected. In the BB options, it doesn't appear the option "Connect" as with the rest of bluetooth devices.
I've tried several times but always happen the same. M1200 is not able to keep the bt connection.
    Could you please help me?
    Thanks in advance

  • HT201398 Innhave a connectivity issue between my iPad now using iOS8.3 and my Dual 150 external GPS.There was no issue before I updated to iOS8.3

Updating to iOS 8.3 has caused a connectivity issue between my iPad and my Dual150 external GPS. Can I revert to a previous version of iOS?

The only way to get this working again is to downgrade to 8.2
Seems Apple does not have this on a high priority list and am not willing to buy something that works for a lot of money. The flying community who uses this for navigation is having a lot of problems with this issue. The position awareness is compromised. Hope they fix this quickly

  • IPod touch g4 iOS 6.1.3 not recognizing external gps devices.

Having intermittent luck in getting my iTouch g4 with iOS 6.1.3 to acknowledge my external GPS devices.  I have tried the TomTom, Dual cradle and Dual Bluetooth devices and each has the same issue.  It works great some times and other times will not recognize that the device is connected, but other aspects of the device (charging, speakers, etc) work fine so physical connection is there.  In some cases, @ 50%, resetting the iPod will work, other times I can reset 5x and still not work. Tried disabling wifi , going into airplane mode etc.... No real pattern as to what gets it going.  Seems to be a memory issue in OS.  My brother in law has experienced the same kind of issues.
Any idea what is going on or how to report a bug to apple?
Thanks, lost / going nowhere (as far as my iPod is considered)

  • Can I use an external GPS Receiver via Bluetooth?

Great phone.  I used a Galaxy Nexus for over a year until I got this phone, but once I started using the Z10, I never looked back.  The "Hub" is a GREAT feature, exactly what I use most of the time.  Oddly enough, I was never much of a BB fan until the Z10.
Anyhow, I have bought several apps and accessories for the Z10.  I rely on my Z10 a lot.
I still have (from my old Windows Mobile 6 phone days back several years ago) a perfectly working external GPS receiver that has Bluetooth (Holux GPSlim236).  Great little receiver.
Since I often use my Z10 for GPS nagigation (I am using Mireo DON"T PANIC) for directions whilst riding my motorcycle all day long, with Bluetooth enabled to my helmet, having the GPS radio on as well as Mobile (aka phone) and Bluetooth does drain the battery faster than if I could avoid using the internal GPS at this time (I still want to use the internal GPS at other times).  I do have a data plan, so I could use the internal maps, however, I often ride through places with no data access (back country).
I was able to pair the Bluetooth GPS Receiver to the Z10 (easy enough), however, there is no option in the "Network Connections" settings area to be able to disable the internal GPS radio, or anywhere else, so I can't tell for sure that this is working (that is, not using internal GPS but using external GPS).  I suspect it is not using the external GPS Receiver, though, since Bluetooth settings indicate "no services" for the external Bluetooth device.
Is there a way to sometimes use the external Bluetooth Receiver on the Z10 (in order to save battery on long trips)?
It is also not just for battery power savings, but also when I ride there is no air conditioning, so the phone does get hot, and I suspect would be cooler if I used an external GPS receiver via already-enabled-anyways Bluetooth.
    Thanks

I am not sure my original message was clear.
I have th Z10, it has GPS software and a built-in GPS radio receiver.  I also have an external GPS radio receiver, not a GPS device.  It is strictly a radio receiver.  I used to use it years ago on my Windows Mobile device - the software with maps was on Windows Mobile, and the GPS receiver hooked up via Bluetooth.
The GPS receiver in the Z10 uses the Z10 battery.  I have the Bluetooth on anyhow to connect to my helmet headset.  Since Bluetooth is on already, I could save Z10 battery by using the external GPS radio receiver (disable the internal GPS radio receiver), thought the map software would still run on the Z10.
So, the previous response says "does have GPS profile" but also says "external GPS will not work:".
I am not sure the statement was respect to my setup.
What I really need is for the Z10 Bluetooth to see the external GPS receiver, perhaps as a serial  device or as a GPS device, howsoever such things work, and for the GPS map software to use the external rather than try to use the internal (the map software should not really care, it should be the OS that virtualises the GPS port).

  • N8 External GPS automatic pairing does'nt work

Ovi Maps and N8 with external Globalsat GPS will not work correct. If you have paired the external GPS with the N8, and you loose the bluetooth connection, the phone will not find the GPS device auomaticly anymore. Only solution is to restart Ovi Maps. Is the problem in the software or the N8 Firmware?

Yes, it is "Authorised". When Ovi Maps is in use and the Bluetooth connection is lost(you leave the car and take the phone with you, GPS stays in the car) you get the information "No GPS connection" from the Ovi Maps applications voice guidance. Then when you come back, the connection to the GPS is not made automaticly. You just get a popup on the phone where you can choose different bluetooth devices, including the external GPS. This should not happen, the connection should be made automaticly and then jus just continue navigation.
If you choose the GPS from the popupwindow, it works but you get again the popup and it asks you for the device(at this moment you altready have the connection, but it still asks for it). You can again choose the GPS, but again the same popup will be shown..... if you choose cancel, you got no connection and the only thing to get it, is to close the program and start it again.

  • IPod 4 touch and external gps problem

    Hello.
iPod 4 touch with iOS 6.1.3 is connected to Pioneer AppRadio2. Everything works great only the external gps. The problem has started when the iPod has
been updated to 6.1.3. I've tried restart and reset device, changed privacy and location settings, changed time settings, but nothing helped. The problem is still
here and navigation is now useless.

Have you tried the standard fixes
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset the GPS/Pioneer unit
    - Go to the unit's support site
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Could be the IOS update broke compatibility

  • External GPS

Hi, is there any external GPS receiver to connect to the iPad 4th Gen? because in my country the (3G/4G) service is not good and i'm not conforming and I would try with an external receiver. Is there any hardware compatible? Thanks in advance.

There's a few, Bad Elf, Garmin Glo, and Dual X all make units.  I connect via bluetooth using a Garmin GLO and it works, though I am waiting for someone to design a better unit. The Bad Elf Pro looks better thought-out but doesn't get GLONASS satellites.
...really I am waiting for someone to come up with a way to make an iPad connect through bluetooth to a Trimble Pro series receiver, as that would be HUGE.  Trimble makes good antennas/receivers, but their interfaces are not nearly as good as the myriad of apps out there like GIS Kit which handle data collection far better than Trimble field data collectors.

  • External GPS Antenna.

    Two questions:
    1. Has anyone been able to get a better accuracy than 17m on the iPhone 3GS?
    2. Is there any way to connect an external GPS antenna to the phone. When I'm geocaching I don't mind rigging up an antenna to my back pack if needed.

    1. On my property, my 3gs seems extremely accurate. Once located, it will follow me up & down the driveway and completely around the property.
    2. The only external antenna I'm aware of is the TomTom car kit. Since it needs a 12v power source to operate(I believe?) you'd have to figure out how to adapt-a-fit it to your backpack.

  • Excel SSAS Tabular error: An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source

    Hello there,
I have an Excel report I created which works perfectly fine on my dev environment, but fails on my test environment when I try to do a data refresh.
The key difference between both dev and test environments is that in dev, everything is installed in one server:
    SharePoint 2013
SQL 2012: Database Instance, SSAS Instance, SSRS for SharePoint, SSAS POWERPIVOT instance (Powerpivot for SharePoint).
In my test and production environments, the architecture is different:
SQL DB Servers in High Availability (irrelevant for this report since it is connecting to the tabular model, just FYI)
SQL SSAS Tabular server (contains a tabular model that processes data from the SQL DBs).
2x SharePoint Application Servers (we installed both SSRS and PowerPivot for SharePoint on these servers)
2x SharePoint FrontEnd Servers (contain the SSRS and PowerPivot add-ins).
Now in dev, test and production, I can run PowerPivot reports that have been created in SharePoint without any issues. Those reports can access the SSAS Tabular model without any issues, and perform data refresh and OLAP functions (slicing, dicing, etc).
The problem is with Excel reports (i.e. .xlsx files) uploaded to SharePoint. While I can open them, I am having a hard time performing a data refresh. The error I get is:
"An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source [...]"
I ran SQL Profiler on my SSAS Server where the Tabular instance is and I noticed that every time I try to perform a data refresh, I get the following entries:
Every time I try to perform a data refresh, two entries under the user name ANONYMOUS LOGON.
Since things work without any issues on my single-server dev environment, I tried running SQL Server Profiler there as well to see what I get.
As you can see from the above, in the dev environment the query runs without any issues and the user name logged is in fact my username from the dev environment domain. I also have a separated user for the test domain, and another for the production domain.
Now upon some preliminary investigation I believe this has something to do with the data connection settings in Excel and the usage (or no usage) of secure store. This is what I can vouch for so far:
Library containing reports is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
Library containing data connections is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
The Data Provider referenced in the Excel report (MSOLAP.5) is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
In the Excel report, the Excel Services authentication settings is set as "use authenticated user's account". This wortks fine in the DEV environment.
Concerning SecureStore, PowerPivot Configurator has configured it the PowerPivotUnnattendedAccount application ID in all the environments. There is
NO configuration of an Application ID for Excel Services in any of the environments (Dev, test or production). Altough I reckon this is where the solution lies, I am not 100% sure as to why it fails in test and prod. But as I read what I am
writing, I reckon this is because of the authentication "hops" through servers. Am I right in my assumption?
Could someone please advise what am I doing wrong in this case? If it is the fact that I am missing an Secure Store entry for Excel Services, I am wondering if someone could advise me on how to set ip up? My confusion is around the "Target Application
    Type" setting.
    Thank you for your time.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hi Rameshwar,
PowerPivot workbooks contain embedded data connections. To support workbook interaction through slicers and filters, Excel Services must be configured to allow external data access through embedded connection information. External data access is required
for retrieving PowerPivot data that is loaded on PowerPivot servers in the farm. Please refer to the steps below to solve this issue:
In Central Administration, in Application Management, click Manage service applications.
    Click Excel Services Application.
    Click Trusted File Location.
Click http:// or the location you want to configure.
In External Data, in Allow External Data, click Trusted data connection libraries and embedded.
    Click OK.
    For more information, please see:
Create a trusted location for PowerPivot sites in Central Administration:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee637428.aspx
Another reason is Excel Services returns this error when you query PowerPivot data in an Excel workbook that is published to SharePoint, and the SharePoint environment does not have a PowerPivot for SharePoint server, or the SQL Server Analysis
Services (PowerPivot) service is stopped. Please check this document:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff487858(v=sql.110).aspx
Finally, here is a good article regarding how to troubleshoot PowerPivot data refresh for your reference. Please see:
    Troubleshooting PowerPivot Data Refresh:

    Hope this helps.

  • How can I connect an old external FDD Model# M0130 ?

I have an original Macintosh 128k with an external FDD DB-19 connection. Now I have 400k diskettes and I would like to get the files from these diskettes. Is there a way to connect this old External FDD that has an db-19 connection to a Quadra 650 or Powerpc 7600 so that I can get the files from the diskettes.
Or is there another way to be able to access these 400k diskettes from a Quadra 650 or PowerPc 7600.

400 KB diskettes are physically readable in any Apple 800 KB or combination 800KB/1.44 MB diskette drive. 400 KB diskettes are double density (2D or 2DD) media, but are written one one side only.
Support for 400 KB MFS diskettes was removed from the System Software at System 8.0, when HFS+ Extended was first introduced (but not made active until 8.1).
So you need an older Mac, like your Quadra 650, running Mac OS before Mac OS 8.
Do not try to fool the drive by using HD media -- the oxide is different, and the data will decay and become unreadable in a matter of a few minutes. Both types of diskettes are still available from the catalogs of major office supply retailers.

Apple uses many manufacturers and it's massive also websites prefer to report on Apple whether true or false because it brings more hits.
Amd by "others" I meant other people on iPads - not other devices/manufacturers.  It's possible to do so, I just want to know how.  I honestly don't think we'll ever be in a Post-PC era until all tablets allow us to use USB in the way computers do.
No, USB is not the future, you missed the memo about cloud and wireless computing?
