Connecting  a Camera with Composite Cables

I am being given a Hitachi DV camera that records directly to mini DVDs. I tried to place the mini DVD in a Mac Pro, though it will not mount. I would like to try playing from the mini DVD on the camera into FCP using Log and Transfer.
The camera comes with a cable that connects to it and has on the other end, an S cable, and 2 audio and 1 video connections.
1. Without having to buy something like the Canopus ADC devices, what can I do?
Thanks.

Your camera should come with a USB cable.
If so connect the camera to the computer and see if MPEGSTREAMCLIP detects the disc and convert
its content into a FCP friendly format (QT).
If you don't have MpegStreamclip
download this small and easy to use free application from this link:

You can connect two Macs with an ethernet wire, or conect two Macs using Firewire if one is placed in target disk mode, but that is it.

  • No picture on TV with composite cable

i-Pad 2. Can get picture on TV with HDMI cable using Apple's cable but get sound only if using Composite cable. What am I doing wrong? Have even gone back to the apple shop and got a replacement cable as I thought the one I had was faulty. But same result. The yellow video socket on the TV is OK because it works with my digital camera.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

I am pretty sure that will not work.  Does your TV have HDMI?  You will need this:

The adapter your purchased has this note :
This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.

  • 40GB iPod Photo came with FW cable, doesn't work with FW cable

I have a 40GB iPod photo that I love. I bought another (used) one for my wife, being careful to get the identical model so we could share things such as docks, cables, etc.
Her iPod works fine with the USB cable, but will only charge with the FW cable -- no computer can see her iPod through FW. I've reset the iPod, updated it with the iPod updater, but nothing. When I connect her iPod to any of my Macs (her 12" iBook, my 12" PowerBook, my G5 iMac) with FW, the iPod appears to be charging, but is not detected by the computer, nor are any of the iPod controls usable. It doesn't go to the "do not disconnect" screen, but simply freezes where it is until the FW cable is disconnected.
Specifics: both iPod Photos are the 40GB model M9585LL, version 1.2.1. The 2nd one CAME WITH a FW cable, which is why I'm puzzled that it won't work with it. Help?

Here is some info for the pinout for the iPod.
    http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2006/04/zen-vision-m-video-cable-other-4 pole-35mm-pinouts.php
You need to find the pinout of the camera cable you have.
Probably be easier to get get an AV cable with a 3.5mm plug to (whatever fits into your TV) cable.
Usually, you simply have to swap the Red and the Yellow for it to work properly.

  • IPad video to car DVD - has no sound with composite cable

    Hi,
I'm trying to watch iPad movies on my in car DVD system. Through a genuine apple composite cable I can get video with out sound. When I connect the USB from the composite I get sound but no video.
    Any ideas??
    I have iPad 2.
Stereo in car is JVC 846.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I do have the same Problem with my F10
I can capture TV with sound, but not either S-Video or FBAS with sound. In ShowBiz I can see, that recording TV I can choose Audio from the built in capture device - no other soudn device. Recording either S-Video or FBAS I can not choose ANY audio recording device. But if I want to record audio, I CAN choose an audio device other than the built in TV-capturing device - namely the audio device.
It seems that trying to capture video via the built in cpturing device, you HAVE TO capture audio from the SAME device - and that using the S-Video or FBAS Input there is no Audio there - and so capturing video from anything else than TV is not possible to combine with audio capturing from an other source.
The only chance is to capture video and audio seperate (one after the other) and mix them together in WinDVD Creator or Showbiz -
    Thanx a lot,
    Hann

Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. • Video to TV with composite cable not working

I bought a iPod cable that connects my iPod to a TV. When I plug it in the video usually just plays on the iPod but not the TV. Audio does play through the TV. When I play around with it by playing with the video preferences it periodically start to work. When it is working the iPod displays the title page only and the TV displays the video. When I do get it to work it only last about a minute and the the video turns off. When I turn it back on, the video goes back to displaying on the iPod only. I have the latest version IPT and OS 2.2
    Any ideas??

It is a 3rd party supplier. My wife has the 1st generation IPT and has the same cable, but is from Apple. I will try it out later today. I will also see if her IPT works with my cable.
I think it would be pretty strange that the manufacturer of this 3rd party cable would not try out the cable first.

  • Connecting two computers with xover cable

I have the Sun Java System Application Server PE8 installed on a computer under Windows XP Professional, and another computer to connected to it with a crossover cable.
The client can ping the host, but when the client tries to connect to the app server with a web browser I get a "Failure to connect to web server" error.
However, I can connect to the app server from a browser on the host itself.
Do you I need to anything to make the app server accessible from another machine? Perhaps define some security settings?
    bobj5000

It sounds like you got it right if the client can ping the host so I'm not sure why you can't get to the web server. I would assume if you can ping you would be able to connect to the web server. I don't think this is an appserver issue so I'm not sure you will get a response in this forum. Maybe you could try another resource that deals more with setting up windows boxes using a crossover cable.

  • Satellite L500-13e connected to TV with HDMI cable - no sound on TV

Hi! Sorry my English is bad.
I have a problem, i tried to connect my notebook with TV through HDMI, but
sound playing on notebook rather than TV ...
In Realtek HD Manager i didn't find "HDMI Output options"
Please, suggest what should I do?

The whole story is a little bit strange now.
As far as I know Satellite L500-13E is delivered with preinstalled Vista Home Premium and all drivers must be preinstalled.
I don't understand how you can suddenly have this yellow question mark in device manager.
What have you done with your notebook?
Anyway, at first try to remove sound device from device manager and restart your notebook. If the yellow question mark is still there install Vista sound driver. You can find it on Toshiba download page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

  • MBP late 2013 won't connect to TV with HDMI cable

Yesterday I connected my MBP (late 2013) with a SCEPTRE TV using an HDMI cable and it worked perfectly.
I wake up the next day and try to connect it again but the TV says "No Signal"
I didn't touch the set up in any way so nothing changed physically.

  • HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in-One Printer. Help tells me to connect to computer with USB cable

I cannot scan anything at the moment despite the fact that I was able to do so several weeks ago.  I went to the HP online support site and downloaded a scan doctor programme.  It tells me that I do not have the proper scan software on my system and to download it from the HP website.  It does't take me to the specific software I need but to a list of things I don't have so I downloaded all of this.  I am half way through the setup process for one program and it is asking me to connect the printer/scanner to my computer using a usb cable so that "the settings of your wireless network can be communicated to the printer".  I don't remember getting a usb cable with the printer but if I did I have no idea where it now is.  What are the chances that finding this/buying this will actually solve my problem and is there a way to solve them without the cable?  Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @translator82,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP Deskjet 3520 is telling you to connect it to the computer with a USB cable. I am happy to help you with this connection issue!
To download the software, please visit this website, HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers, if you are using Windows 7 or above, it is recommended to use the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows. If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos.
In the meantime, page 33 of your printer's user guide has all the options of how to connect this printer. User Guide. For the traditional wireless setup you will need a USB printer cable. Otherwise, you can always try Wireless Direct.
    Hope this helps!

  • Connecting iPhone 4 with RCA Cable

I have an iPhone4 that I would like to connect to an older style stereo receiver. Since the receiver only has RCA input jacks, is there a 30-pin-to-RCA cable that would work? Thank you for your help.

    Here's another option: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC596ZM/B/apple-iphone-4-dock?fnode=45
It has a mini jack connector, and you can use any 3.5 mm mini to RCA cable with it. It will also charge the phone if you use a dock cable and wall adapter.
FWIW, what I use is an Airport Express WiFi router, which supports Airplay. I connect the Airport to my stereo using its 3.5 mm jack and a 3.5 mm to RCA cable. Thus, the iPhone does not have to be physically connected to the stereo.
