Hook this into the mac and then a DVI to DVI cable to the DELL?
Thanks

That is your best option for now until this (Cheaper)

  • Unable to connect to Buffalo NAS Server from Lion iMac.

Message is: The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem.

I have the same problem with my Conceptronic CH3HNAS and have found a free and easy solution.
Since a lot of people report they are able to access their NAS using apps other than the Finder itself, I decided to look for a free Lion-compatible File Manager to use instead of Finder.
I have found muCommander ( http://www.mucommander.com/ ) and indeed it works fine. All I did was click on the button highlighted bellow, go to "bonjour services" and select my NAS. It prompted me for my username and password and voilá, it works fine.
I keep Finder for everyday use and just load muCommander when I want to access the NAS. At least now I don't have to start my WinXP VM anymore just to access it.
    Hope it helps you.

I have given up on my dell and bought an iMac 27"... Now how do I transfer my dell iTunes playlists from my dell to my iMac, as they are showing on the iMac when I plug in my iPod but it's not allowing to me to play them as they are shaded? I have also separately transferred all my music via my external drive from my dell to my iMac which is showing in iTunes but won't upload to my iPod... Just to confuse you even more my AppleTV which is linked to my log in email address and home sharing is showing and playing all the playlists I want to see on my iMac... Phew that was exhausting hope you understand and can help me:-)

You may have transferred all your songs, but your iPad is seeing the library as a different entity.

  • Trying to Print from a Mac to a Canon iP4200 connected to a Dell

I just picked up a MacBook Pro this summer and have been trying to get it to print on a Canon iP4200 printer. It is connected to a Dell desktop with XP. The communication is through a wireless network. The Mac thinks it is sending the print through the network and thinks it is working. However, the Dell and printer never receive it.

It still may not work down to the Canon drivers, ensure that you have the latest Canon drivers.
It should work with the PrintFab Drivers (but these cost).

  • How do I import my folders of bookmarks created on a Dell laptop to an Apple iMac and clean up the mess I've created trying to create a new set of folders and bookmarks on the iMac?

I have been unable to find and import from the version of Firefox on my Dell laptop to an Apple iMac the folders containing bookmarked website addresses. In the process, I've created a mishmash of unwanted bookmarks. Please provide me a step by step process to import the folders to the version of Firefox on the iMac. The process to accomplish this seems very awkward and counter-intuitive. The same goes for creating new folders and bookmarking website addresses to those folders on the version of Firefox installed on the iMac.

    Chris,
Thanks for the tip about the Firefox Sync feature. A friend and I managed to use the Sync feature to "transfer" the folders of Bookmarked website addresses from the Dell to the iMac. We found that shutting off and rebooting the receiving iMac computer was necessary for all the folders to transfer over. Also, the entire process would have gone more smoothly had we had separate internet connections for the two computers, but we managed to shift our single internet connection between the computers as the Sync process progressed through its steps. Definitely a learning process.
    Thanks,
    Charlie

  • Do Dell printers work on my iMac?

I am trying to connect my Dell 3000cn (networking color laser) to my iMac via Airport Extreme. The printer is recognized in the Printer Utility, but does not communicate with the iMac. First, can the iMac connect to a Dell printer? If so, how do I ensure I have the correct drivers?

Indeed, there is no MacOS driver support available from Dell for this printer.
It seems this printer will emulate the printer command language used by the HP LaserJet 5 or 6 printer series. Therefore, you might be able to use the "open source" printer drivers built into OS X for one of these printers - see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306684

  • Dell PC Not Visible to iMac Network

I have a home network using Airport consisting of an iMac G5 (10.4.5), an eMac G4 (10.3.9), and a Dell Laptop (Windows XP). I am sharing an internet connection from the iMac. File sharing is enabled on all computers and works fine except that the Dell is not visible in the Finder Network or Workgroup window. The Dell DOES automatically become visible in the eMac's Finder window and I can connect and share files on the Dell using the eMac so I know the PC is configured correctly. Sharing Services on the iMac have Personal File Sharing, Windows Sharing, Personal Web Sharing, and Printer Sharing enabled. I have tried to connect to the Dell through the iMac by using the Connect to Server route but I get an error each time.
Anyone have an idea why I can't connect to the Dell on one computer but not the other?
    Thanks.

Try setting IPv6 to "off" in the System Preferences Network pane on your Tiger computer. I have copied and pasted the instructions from MacFixIt below:
"In order to change this setting, open System Preferences and click on your currently used interface (Ethernet, AirPort, etc.). Click on the TCP/IP settings for the interface -- at the bottom if you see a button which says 'Configure IPv6...' click that and set it to "Off." Press the Apply Now button."
This has been reported to solve many network problems in Tiger.

  • How do I drive two Dell M110 projectors from my new 15" Macbook pro

I am trying to drive two Dell M110 projectors from my 15" Macbook Pro.  When connecting one projector via the HDMI port I am able to utilize two seperate "screens" (laptop screen and projector display), but when I connect any projectors via the Thunderbolt port I am only able to clone the laptop desktop across all the connected displays.  I want to be able to display a seperate image on each display.  I am running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and Windows 7 via Parallels 8.  Thank you.

Please note that if Office is being removed to fix a problem prior to re-installing a new copy AppCleaner will not do what is needed, it is important to follow Microsoft's directions exactly, AppCleaner does not.
Carolyn Samit's link is the correct method.

  • How to manage dell-2816 switch from remote network..?

    Hi,
According to below diagram how can i manage the dell-2816 switch from other network. It has management ip only worked on default vlan and default vlan is not editable also not routed ,we can only access the switch to connect laptop directly to switch port and if the port has default-vlan id-1 .
switch to switch trunk doing problem but when using the pvid as a access vlan ID then trunk is working between dell to juniper hope so cisco also work. But the major issue is remote manageability and also snmp , If switch does not getting ping from remotely then how the snmp will work ..?
    Thanks
    Mamdud
<ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>

You would need a layer 3 device on the network that would route between the different networks/VLANs. Without a device performing VLAN routing, your only other option is to be on the VLAN 1 network.
If you have a client with dual nic ports, you may be able to assign 1 port the VLAN 1 network. The other port would be on the network with the rest of the devices.

  • W2k8 rs losing connection to network (DELL servers broadcom NIC's)

Still having the issue using the built in Broadcom Nic's have switched to an Intel 4 port Nic and so far haven't any issues.  Trouble is I have 4 more servers all R410's to be loaded up with w2k8r2 and I don't want to go out an buy another 4 Intel Nic's

    Hi All,
I am having the same problem on DELL T320 with onboard dual-port Broadcom NetXtreme 5720 Gigabit Ethernet Nic running on Wiondows 2012 Server.
The server would lose network connection within 3 to 4 days and either have to reset the NIC's or reboot.
Did anyone find a fix? or do i have the bite the bullet and buy new some Intel cards?
    Thanks
    ECL
I have a client with a Dell T420 and a Netextreme 5720 and the same issue. Unfortunately, this is a "me too" post, for now. I'm going to try the Broadcom drivers today, but I thought I'd add a the following:
The client reports that their server is down (which is very disturbing since it's a new server). The problem started after moving the server into it's final location and connecting to the Dell 24port gigabit switch (the inexpensive web-managed one). The
first time they reported it the network configuration appeared to have been changed. The first NIC which had been configured to be shared between HyperV and the local host had no IP information; and the second which was a member of a dedicated virtual switch
was not working. I changed the first NIC to local OS only (deleting the virtual switch) and put the VM on the second dedicated virtual switch.
The next day, the server was down. I drove over and the physical computer was online but the VM was not. So, suspecting the second port, I once again configured the primary port to be a member of a virtual switch shared with the local OS. I deleted the dedicated
virtual switch and disabled the second NIC. Of course, I set the VM to use the new shared virtual switch.
For the rest of the day, and the day after, no issues.  Then, this morning, the client reported that the server was down. I had one of them power-cycle the Dell switch and everything came back.  Interestingly, I have the physical machine pinging
the virtual machine and it never lost a packet - but that could be some Windows 2K12 magic as they were on the same NIC.
So, I'll head over there today and install the latest Broadcom Drivers and see what happens.

When I had a PC I simply took the wire going to my monitor and connected to my big screen TV to watch Netflix movies...How do I take them from my IMAC and connect them to my TV now?

    This could be problematic.
It will depend on what model of iMac you have.
You may want to post machine info.
blue apple > about this mac > more info button. Click on the hardware line. It has a little triangle in front of the work hardware.
    Leave out the serial number.
    Example:
    Machine Name: iMac
    Machine Model: PowerMac4,1
    CPU Type: PowerPC 750 (33.11)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 600 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    Memory: 768 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.1.9f1
Most of the iMac's have sometype of video output port on the back.  You will problably need a converter.
The 'hollywood' industry has been making it more difficult to get video out over time to prevent copying.

    If your network configuration is:
Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > [WAN] AEBS > (wireless) > Macs, then
AirPort Extreme Base Station Setup (AEBS) w/High-Speed Cable Modem
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
    - Power-off the Cable modem, AEBS, & computer(s). (If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the computer(s)
Perform a "hard" reset of the AEBS.
    - (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107451)
    Setup the AEBS
With the network components powered down, set up the AEBS, using the AirPort Admin Utility, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort tab
    - Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - Create a closed network (unchecked)
    - Wireless Security: Not enabled
    - Channel: Automatic
    - Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
    Internet tab
    - Connect Using: Ethernet
    - Configure: Using DHCP
    - WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
    Network tab
    - Distribute IP addresses (checked)
    - Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Once you verified that you can get Internet access for all of your computers, you should secure your wireless network. To do so, I suggest that you make these changes:
    AirPort tab (optional)
    - Create a closed network (checked)
    Change Wireless Security
    - Wireless Security: WPA Personal
Base Station Options - WAN Ethernet Port
    - Enable SNMP Access (unchecked)
    - Enable Remote Configuration (unchecked)
    - Enable Remote Printer Access (unchecked)
    Wireless Options
    - Transmitter Power: 10%
    Access Control tab (optional)
    - + <add the computer(s) that will access this wireless network>

You need to turn on Printer Sharing on both the PC and OS X. I can't help you on Vista but in OS X it's System Preferences - Sharing - check the Printer Sharing box.

how do i get a wifi connection at home for my ipad from a imac

If you have a wired connection to the iMac and you are asking about using the iMac for the Internet connection for the iPad, you will need to use Internet Sharing on the Mac.
No clue which OS version you run on the Mac, but here is a link to help with 10.6 and this will get you started. You can Google " Internet sharing with Mac OS ...." and come up with a number of support articles.
