Connecting a new Viera TV to the network

Hi, I am planning on buying a Panasonic Viera TX-L37ET5B. I have an iMac, a MacBook, a Time Capsule, an AirPort Extreme and an Airport Express.
I am connecting the Viera with Ethernet to a BT (UK) router and was wondering the best use of all this apple stuff!
I plan on Etherneting everything as much as possible; certainly the TV, the iMac and true AppleTV if I get one. The MacBook I tend to use as a portable device pending iPad purchase!
A: is it worth getting an ATV or will the Panny be able to play music from my iTunes?
B: can anyone recommend a NAS drive that I can dump my (huge!) iTunes library onto so I don't have to switch the iMac on every time I want to listen to some music? And would the TV talk to a NAS drive? Would it need an iTunes server?
I thought about all sorts of configurations and was maybe going to use the TC as a NAS and back it up separately to an ext hard drive.
Any tips for getting the whole lot to talk to each other?! Thanks in advance.

The Panasonic will not be able to talk to iTunes.
An AppleTV will.

For an AppleTV iTunes has to be running on a computer on the LAN to play content across the LAN.  A NAS, even with an 'iTunes server' will not work as they cannot do Home Sharing.
The Panasonic, if it has  media player of some kind, will presumably playback from a DLNA compliant media server/NAS - note however protected itunes content will not work, and I don't know if DLNA supports AAC, Apple's audio format.  Check the Panasonic manual.  I've never had much success with DLNA stuff on PS3 or Sony Blu Ray players but things may be better these days.
If you have bought lots from iTunes store, much of it may be accessible 'in the cloud' to play on demand across the internet without a computer on - music is the exception and requires an iTunes Match subscription to play purchases as well as matched audio via the internet.

It is not properly connected to the network.
Make sure location is set correctly
DNS should be on auto (settings - general - network)
    Try ethernet
Signal strength on device won't account for issues, you would need a network report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. This will show accurate signal strength along with noise and nearby networks

  • I cannot connect my Kindle Fire to the network. It looks for the IP address and says Cannot connect. Try again. On my iPad I see that a new client is on the network but just for the time of not finding the IP address. Any suggestion? Thank you.

The Kindle Fire finds my Wi-Fi network but cannot obtain an IP address. My iPad AirPort is telling me that a new client is on the network until the Kindle Fire says Cannot connect Try again Any suggestion? Thank you

Any chance the wifi network you're trying to connect to has had its access password changed? If so, do you have the correct password?
Can you 'rub' the wifi antenna on the iPad? That might help. I've done this with my iPod Touch and it helped restore the device's ability to connect.
Is it possible to power cycle the wifi router you're trying to connect to?
If worse comes to worse, can you 'reset' the iPad?  You could do this, but I'd maybe suggest it as only a last resort.
I think you can also go into the wifi settings and 'delete' that wifi network and then re-connect to it.
    Good luck with it.

  • My iphone 5s won't connect to wifi, i've reset the network setting multiple times and it's still now working.

When I got back from vacation my iPhone stopped to connecting to my home Wi-Fi, also it won't connect to any other Wi-Fi. It will not notify me when I have available networks to connect to. I've reset the network setting countless times and still nothing is working.

Try restoring your phone, first from a backup & then as a new phone.
If you still have issues after restoring as new, the phone has a hardware issue and needs to be replaced. You'll have to bring it to an Apple store to be evaluated.

  • How do i connect my new mac mini to the thunderbolt display

how do i connect my new mac mini to the thunderbolt displa,  It arrives tomorrow?

It has a built-in Thunderbolt cable, see here: http://www.apple.com/displays/specs.html
So assuming your mini has a thunderbolt port (you said it's new so I assume it does), you'd just plug the display's thunderbolt cable into the mini's Thunderbolt port.

There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone. The network connection timed out. Make sure the network settings are correct

I just had the same problem updating my iPhone 4. I found out by turning my Kaspersky virus protection OFF, then everything worked out, and I was able to update my phone.
Virus protection programs can cause alot of problems sometime, so it's worth a try if you haven't already tried.

  • When I connect my new iPhone 4s to the computer and iTunes is running, I am advised that a new update is available, but when I download it, I am informed that my phone can not be updated because it has an incompatible hardware

When I connect my new iPhone 4s to the computer, iTunes informs me that there is an update avaialble and I procceed to download only to be told that my phone has incompatible hardware so cannot be updated. Any advice please

Hi, I just re-downloaded the update, but instead of telling it to download and install, I just clicked on download only. This is a 813 mb file and I am on limited broadband usage. I did it this way thinking that I would get a chance to see the exact wording when it tried to install, however, I have no idea how to try and install the file now and when I came to click on the iphone symbol on itunes, the download diassapeared, where to I have no idea. I can't afford to download it again, and besides it takes approximately three hours to download it in any case, so all I can remember is that the error message stated that it couldn't update because the phones hardware was not compatible.

worksafe's link with the KeyChain fix is good.
This usually happens when KeyChain has two entries for the same WiFi network.
If repair did not work you can follow the manual steps:
    Disconnect WiFi
Open KeyChain from Applications / Utilities and find your WiFi network entry(ies) and delete all of them.
    Connect to your WiFi again.

  • I am trying to connect my new ipay to my wireless network and I do not know the password, how can I connect?

I have a new IPAD and trying to hook up to my wireless network.  I do not know a password, how can I procees with the set up?

you need to find out what your wifi password is....Search your router online.
I know netgears are usually routerlogin.net (popup ADMIN- pass: password)
    Others have a different login.
You can always try typing in your routers IP address into a browser search field(ie. 192.169.1.1)
Some routers come with a setup CD.
Another route with some is reseting the router to factory default(no password). This will allow anyone to access it thats nearby, so Id recommend this ONLY for initial connection, then reconfiguring it. Hold the reset button in for 30 seconds.

My ipod touch (4th) suddenly wont connect to my wifi. It connected fine before and all of my other electronics (tablets, computers, laptops, gaming systems, etc.) are connected and working completely fine. I tried turning the wifi setting on my ipod on/off as well as the actual ipod itself. I also tried resetting the network settings but neither of these options worked. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I have just connected my new apple TV and in the main menu see only two icons: computers and settings.  How do I access the rest of the icons (internet, movies etc...)  We do not live in the US.  The unit has full WiFi access with no problems, I can access ITunes on my laptop via home sharing no problem.

Glad that this solved your problem but if you searh past threads there are a LOT of people with identical problems.
Reading through the threads my take is
There seems to be something awry with wifi chipset. Typical symptoms are initially being able to connect to connect to a Wifi network then the connection is dropped. Then you see just the 'computers' and 'settings' icons on screen
Power off, reset and factory restore doesnt seem to solve it
Occasionally its nearby antenna cables etc causing interference
One report with convincing evidence it was the HDMI cable, swapping to anotehr cable fixed the problem
Plugging in ethernet works, this is purely a wifi issue
Sometimes plugging in ethernet temporararily wakes up the wifi
Many people seem to have exchanged their units only for the same thing to happen to the new unit a few weeks later. Just wondering if its a fomponent fail or heat issue.
