Connecting a PS3 to my IMAC G5

Anyone knows if it is possible to connect a PS3 to an IMAC? My assumption is that I could connect it if I could find a mini display to HDMI adapter. Any thoughts? Recommendation?

You did not indicate which G5 iMac you have.
Suggest that you do a Google search for your model G5 iMac. Also, do a forum search as your question has been asked & answered by other users.

You would need a display port to HDMI adapter. One of the newer features (which the 2012 iMac has) is that it can display this type of content like a DVD player to the iMac.

Use the above link to review that item. It also has a DVI adapter that you would not use. But the display port to HDMI is the correct item. Then you connect the PS3 to the hdmi on it. I don't think it would passthrough audio though so you would have to figure something out for sound.

Sounds like the AV360 is faulty. Raise a support call with Belkin. Mine stopped working a few days ago and since the product has a "lifetime warranty", they should be able to replace it. They had replacement stock in Australia (where I am) but this might be hard in other parts of the world since they stopped manufacturing these in 2010 (I think). When you raise a support call, the model number is Part # F2CD007 :)

Connecting a PS3 or Xbox to iMac

The display on the 24" iMac is essentially equivalent to an HDTV. Is there a way to connect a PS3 or Xbox 360 to my iMac? I am a new switcher from the world of PC's, so I am totally clueless when it comes to this stuff. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is it possible to connect a PS3 to the 27 inch imac computer?

I'm also looking for the same thing, the PS3 has a HDCP in the HDMI that prefents any normal capture card to work in full 1080p HD. A couple of my friends have a HDCP stripper but i feel that almost if not illegal. One way I saw on Youtube awhile back was a guy using a HDMI Splitter from one male to two female and ran one into his pc and the other into his TV. I then decided to order myself one to see if it actually works, Im suppose to get the package within a couple of days but ill let you know if it actually works, also here is the youtube video that I watched that gave me the idea, hope this helps! Hello! I am in need of assistance. I have my ps3 connected to my new 27inch iMac via the Belkin HDMI to Mini DisplayPort converter. I can see the picture and video fine from the iMac screen but all I am getting is feedback from the speakers! I tried connecting external speakers but there is still feedback! How do you solve this problem? Are there settings on the ps3/iMac i need to change? Do I need a different type of cord?
FYI I also connect my rogers HD box and that sound and video works perfectly; i only have issues with the ps3!

the hdmi connector of the ps3 or a sat reciever is an output and on the 27" imac the minidisplayport is an input/output , so my question is, can i connect my ps3 or my sat reciever to my imac with a hdmi on minidisplayport cabel to watch tv or play ps3 .

Nope; at least not that I've found. There are only a couple of companies selling such a converter (they probably all come from the same manufacturer) and they're all pricing it exactly the same.

I bought the new iMac on late 2012, it's a 27" one, it only has thunderbolt ports, no mini display ports like the older ones
Altough I'm too busy I'd love to play PS3 once and while, just too lazy to hook up with a huge TV, so I'm wondering

You can't do that. Macs with Thunderbolt ports can only be used as an external display for other Macs with Thunderbolt. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
Unfortunately, the Target Display mode of the iMac only works with Thunderbolt (in the case of Macs with Thunderbolt) or Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cables, so it's not compatible with any adapters. As a PlayStation 3 hasn't got a Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort connector, you can't connect it to the iMac

If you have a wifi router you can set up/turn on the wifi... set the user name and password wifi in your router... open wifi in general settings on the iPhone... log into your router, user name and password. If you don't have a wifi router and your Mac has wifi capabilities you can hookup to the internet over wifi from your Mac to your iPhone.
System Preferences on the Mac... Network... Wifi... Advanced tab... Hit the '+' to add a user name and password...
Make sure you use WPA2 Personal for Security... Hit ok... Turn on the wifi... Same as above with the iPhone, log into your wifi settings on the iPhone.
*Important point... Use WPA2 for the encryption/Security setting. If you use anything else for this setting, your wifi can be hacked.
