Connecting a record deck to AUX IN 2 (x-fi I/O) - Wanting to convert vin
X-Fi PlatinumI'm presuming I just connect the L/R audio lead from my record deck directly into the L/R 'AUX IN 2' and launch Audio Creation Mode to start recording my vinyl?I tried this and there was no sound coming through. I have sound in all other applications so do I need to put my deck through an amp then connect my amp to the AUX IN 2 input on the X-Fi I/O?I was hoping it would be an uncomplicated process but it appears I was nai've to think it would be that easy. Media Monkey is a great tool for this WAV to MP3 conversion ... you even get your MP3 files tagged automatically ...

I am trying to connect a DAT deck to my new Mac Pro. One of my decks has optical ins and outs so I connected the DAT deck to the optical in on the back of the Mac Pro. I assumed that it would be detected by the computer. No luck. Any thought on how to proceed?
To add to what Greg mentioned.
Usually the recording device is slave to the sending device.
So, if you're recording from the DAT to the mac you will set the mac to sync to external sync.
Also, if you're new to connecting digital devices, keep it simple and use only a single optical cable at a time. Dat optical out -> Mac optical in.
Audio/MIDI setup: select properties for built-in-audio and clock sync to external. For Input select Digital IN.
You won't have to do anything to the DAT deck.
Be sure to record to a stereo track in Logic.

give the participant enhanced participant rights to the camera
tool. They can then broadcast their video and you can record it.

My Iphone 4 just updated to the iOS6. I've connected it to my computer for the first time since then, and wanted to back up my photos in iPhoto. However, although Iphoto recognized my phone, it shows no photos to upload or backup. It lists my phone in the "devices" category on the left bar, but no longer shows any of my photos.

Are you trying to basically start over, as if you just took your iPhone out of the box? If so, do:
Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings -

I have moved my iPhoto to an external hard drive. so now I have to have the external hard drive connected to my laptop to view the photos. Now when I want to import photos into iPhoto from my media card, I don't have room to connect both devices at the same time as the usb ports are side by side. How do I import my photos from the media card to the external hard drive now?
First transfer the photos to a folder on your MacBook using Image Capture in your Utilities folder. Then move them to iPhoto.
BTW, you might want to invest in a cheap USB hub. -
I have a digital voice recorder with a 3.5mm microphone and headphone jack and want to transfer some recorded lectures to my mac book pro. The mac book does not have 3.5mm jacks. Does anyone know if a jack to USB converter would work?

traced back to a OS X system cause of this odd phenomenon?
Are there any copies of system files on any of the attached USB
external drives? Any libraries, such as iTunes, iPhoto, etc?
Once the drives are indexed by Spotlight, are their permissions
ignored by the OS X? Content, if neutral, should not affect the
wake or sleep cycle; especially if they're ignored by the OS X.
Could there be a bad cable or other component? If so that would
be a difficult process of elimination to detect it. Usually replacing
most suspect components in the USB stream (external to Macs)
is a rote way to mechanically test that idea; & not 100% sure.
Does the equipment all have a good ground to the utility or house
electrical field? An intermittent ground may affect more than sleep.
Hard to say at this point. Maybe a late-night talk radio guru on
remote viewing could peer into your situation and sleuth it out?
Sorry to have run out of ideas, but the process must be electrical
& mechanical to some extent. - Or perhaps odd software inspired.
Do you have any phone-home spyware items inside, just jumping
at the chance to spill your information? Little Snitch may help.
PS: Perhaps the computer needs to go into Apple & have a genius
or product specialist at AASP test the unit thoroughly... BlueTooth?

Does it have a line in and how do you monitor sound?
Will I need adaptors and an interface?
Also, I am guessing as Logic only runs on MAC surely then they would not the best spec to recommend to run it?
I see all the upgrades as additional memory or a faster process?
Is a retina screen necessary, and why flash based storage against a 1TB hard drive, and a i5 instead of an i7
The main reason for this purchase is to play live and use backing tracks and record found sounds and make creative songs.

In the garage I have a Netgear Router. it is connected by a ethernet cable, I have a 1tb drive that I want to use there. On the drive there is only a USB port. on the Netgear there is only ethernet ports. is there an adapter that will work for that?
It's not that simple. You need a "smart" device to connect a hard drive to, like a Time Capsule, or another computer, or an Airport Extreme/Express that was made to share a drive, or some other brand router that has a USB port for sharing a drive, etc.

If you are using a USB hub, don't. Connect directly to the computer. Disconnect all other USB devices except for keyboard and mouse.

Check your internet settings.
Control Panel – Internet Options – Advanced
Check SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0
Uncheck “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)”
Click Apply
Click Okay
Open itunes and try again
And, you don't need to turn off the firewall, just add itunes and itunes helper to your security software firewall. -
Hello, I dropped coffee on my keyboard. I wiped the coffee off as fast as I could, BUT I hit al sorts of buttons while it was still connected to my computer. NOW Everything looks photo negative. I want to restore my desktop defaults.
Hit control-option-command-8 to reverse the negative effect. You can also do this, and check other settings, in System Preferences>Universal Access.

When you are having problems with a site - consider weather between you and it and amount of traffic (time of day).
Bad weather can cause problems with a connection as it travels on the information highway - hazard a guess all traffic that went through Buffalo is being routed elsewhere.
Bad weather can slow down handshake etc to the point of requiring too many resends - so Ibook is timing you out.
