Connecting a second iPhone to wifi network

I currently have two iPhones in the house. One 16gb for myself and another 8gb for my wife. When I was setting my wifi connection it took a number of attempts and I finally got it to work, which it is doing very nicely.
Now when I come to try and connect the second iPhone to the wifi network, it won't accept it. I am using exactly the same details as the first iPhone uses to connect successfully.
Please can you tell me if there is anything I need to check or configure - my wife is all for throwing the phone in the bin.
:o(

weestoater,
Try forgetting the Wi-Fi network on the iPhone that will not join the network. Goto Settings> Wi-Fi> tap the blue (>) to the right of the network name, then Forget This Network. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
If the iPhone still cannot join the Wi-Fi network, we may need to look at the router settings. Make sure the router is set to distribute enough IP addresses. Also Make sure the iPhone MAC address is added to the filter list, if MAC address filtering is enabled(as SisterBlue said). The iPhone MAC address is listed under Settings> General> About, the Wi-Fi address.

  • Having difficulty connecting to 'The Cloud' public WiFi network (UK) with iPhone 5?

Is anyone else having difficulty connecting to 'The Cloud' public WiFi network in the UK with iPhone 5? (It's the free WiFi network for Caffe Nero, Pizza Express, Phones 4U,  and Ambassador Theatre Group amongst others. It's run by BSkyB and is also available to Sky broadband customers)
WiFi works fine everywhere else (so it's not an iOS 6 problem, and I am running 6.0.2) but attempting to connect to "_TheCloud" gets instant 'Unable to connect to network' message. Going to Settings>WiFi>_TheCloud reveals that all the fields (IP Address, Subnet Mask etc) are blank.
It used to work fine on my 3GS, and also works on a colleague's 4S. However both my and my boss's iPhone 5's get the 'Unable to connect..." message.
Anyone know how to solve this problem? Or has anyone else even had this problem? There seems to be little reporting of it online.
I've tried emailing The Cloud, but have yet to receive a response.

I found out why there was a problem with The Cloud network I was trying to connect to: The Cloud's equipment at the venue wasn't able to cope with newer devices. This has now been upgraded, and my iPhone 5 connects fine.
Have you tried connecting at different Cloud venues? I discovered that it was a venue problem when I successfully connected to a local Pizza Express's Cloud.

    Hey mjmsurrey60,
It sounds like the iDevices have gotten out of sync with the home network.  I would advise a full power cycle of the circuit involved.
Unplug the 8600 while powered on
Unplug the power from the router
COMPLETELY power off the iDevices, not simply put in sleep mode.  Click here for information about how to do so on an iPhone.  The steps are similar for other iDevices.
    Wait 30-60 seconds
Plug the router back up and wait for it to completely power back up
Plug the 8600 back in for power
Power the iDevices back up and wait for them to sync with the network again
    Try to print again
    Let me know the results.

Mobile data also not connected outside my home. Sometimes wifi and mobile data connect outside my home when I turn off and on the phone.
    2. Bluetooth, in my car, paires well and incoming and out going calls can be received and made. The problem is no sound out put from speakers.
Apple please make note of the above problems (of million people) and give solution before giving any other updations for painting and tinkering the screens.

  • Can i use the internet on the iPhone in this case (PC(connected Ethernet) ----Bluetooth --- iPhone(no wifi, no network, bluetooth only))

iPhone (no 3g, no wifi, enable bluetooth)
PC (connected ethernet, enable bluetooth )
PC (connected Ethernet)  <----- Bluetooth <------ iPhone : is possible ?

Because you cannot. The iPhone will not allow you to connect to an internet source via Bluetooth. It does not support that profile. If your PC will support Bluetooth, will it support creating its own wi-fi network? Can you transmit/receive wi-fi from the PC? If you can do that, you can connect to that wi-fi network with your phone.
Sorry, just read you did not have wi-fi on the phone. Why not?

  • When I connect my ipad to a wifi network, the iphone connects to the same network

When I connect my iOS 8 iPad 4 to the guest network at work, my iOS 8 iPhone 5s automatically connects to the same network. When I disconnect the iPhone so I can send an email from my iCloud account (which is blocked on the work network) and tell it to forget the network, it disconnects my iPad too. Each time I tell the iPhone to forget the network, when I reconnect my iPad, the iPhone connects again.
How do I tell my iPhone to never connect to the work guest network while allowing my iPad to connect?
I do not like this feature in iOS 8.

Unfortunately, this does not help me, there are no issues with the operation of the WiFi, it is operating normally on both devices.
The issue is that in iOS 8, the WiFi network information is shared across linked devices. Therefore, if I add a network to one device, it is added to the other device and if I forget a network on one device, it is forgotten on the other.
I want to use a network on one device (the iPad) and to not use the network on the other (iPhone). How do I tell the iPhone to not connect to the WiFi without disabling WiFi while allowing the iPad to connect to the network? It is annoying to have to disable the iPhone WiFi manually each day when I get to work and it is prone to forgetting to turn it back on when I leave.

  • Why doesn't my iPhone 5,2 (iOS8) want to connect to 2,4 ghz wifi networks anymore?

Only when I'm next to the wifi router I can connect to a 2,4 ghz network. When I move 1 or 2 meters, the connection just drops out. With 5 ghz network there's no problem at all. How can I figure out if this is a software or hardware problem., and what is a possible solution? My iPhone turned 2 years old recently, so I guess I don't have to count on any warranty or other support?

    Hi,
MY network at home was originally  set up as a 2.4 ghz network, it worked fine until a week ago. By changing it I noticed my wifi on my iPhone was working again. The problem is however at work for example it's probably also 2.4 ghz. Because I cant connect, only when standing nearby the router. That's why I'm wondering how I can figure this out, is it software, hardware or something else. Tried resetting and restarting. But none of it seemed to solve the problem.

  • Connect first generation iPad to wifi network

How do I connect my first generation iPad to a wifi network?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • IPhone "forgets" wifi networks after 3.0 upgrade

Hi all! I did the 3.0 upgrade last night and I'm loving it!!!!! Everything works - including MMS! However, I have one problem. Before the upgrade, whenever I'd wake up my phone, or move from home to work, it remembered my wifi networks and joined them automatically.
It now STOPPED doing that. Even when it sleeps/locks and I wake it up 5 minutes later, I need to MANUALLY go into my settings, search and find my wireless network and then check it to join... funny thing is, it doesn't ask me for a password, it remembers it and joins. It just doesn't seem to remember the network and join automatically.
    Help?

I have the same problem, but the proposed solution here does not work. There is only one network that the iPhone fails to remember - my work wifi that uses WPA Enterprise encryption with EAP TLS.
Connecting to the network is not a problem, all works well, but the phone does not remember the connection as it did under 2.2.1. There is no "Forget Network" at the top of the connection details screen. Other networks seem to work fine, and can be remembered, or forgotten, as per normal. I've reset network settings, which is no help.

  • Is there a way to see and have control over who connects to your time capsule wifi network?

Ok, have this question. Have a time capsule wifi network. Have the latest mountain lion on my mac pro. I know if you go into airport utility, and you click on the picture of my timecapsule it shows what clients are connected to my time capsule aka using my internet etc.
What I want to know, is there somewhere I can go on the mac where I can view who is connected to my time capsule wifi in more detail, see amounts of data they are using, and maybe even boot them off, or ban there computer from the network for a while if need be? Trying to assess what family members are using up all our data, and want to ban the appropriate offenders
Even if Mac doesnt have anythink, if you know any third parties from the app store that have an app that is like a "tap" on the top of your Mac that shows networking details, that would be great too!
    Thanks heaps!

Nope.. TC are not burdened with controls.. don't you know..
In fact you will find it hard to find a wireless router on the market that mets your specs.. but there is a great 3rd party firmware.. called gargoyle.. this can be loaded like an official firmware in a NETGEAR WNDR3800 which is a fairly cheap very good solid wireless router.. bridge your TC behind this router running gargoyle and you can set quota for all your family members (kids I imagine). Quota can be set for daily, weekly even hourly.. and you can apply throttles or qos.. none of these controls even exist in the TC.

  • Apple TV does not connect to internet over the WiFi network

I recently bought an Apple TV and hooked it up to my Sony 46" HD LCD TV.
My desktop is an iMac running Mac OSX Leopard
I have created a WiFi network using the AirportExpress conected to an ADSL router.
The wireless network is working fine and I have access to internet through my iMac or other PC and Apple laptops.
Yesterday, I tried installing my new AppleTV following the little instruction book. My problem is that while the AppleTV detects my network (it shows up as the network) and on choosing this network connects to the network but gives a message that it has not connected to internet.
As a result while it synchronises with iTunes on my iMac, it fails to download from the internet directly. I am unable to upgrade to the latest version or play YouTube or images from my MobileMe account or log on directly to the iTune Store.
I have tried figuring out the problem but unable to do so. Thanks for your help.

I am having a similar (or identical) problem. I have a network running on my airport extreme. My imac and my girlfriend's laptop can connect to the internet without issue. The apple tv finds my network and reports that it connects, yet it doesn't seem to. I cannot access trailers or youtube, cannot update, and cannot play purchased content. I reset the apple TV, but that did not solve the problem. Should I reset the airport extreme?
