Connecting a sound bar to Toshibia 50L1450U: Can it be done?

I am trying to connect my iLive sound bar to this TV but there doesn't appear to be an audio out option. Is it possible to connect the sound bar via usb or some other way?

Unfortunately the Time Capsule is missing the circuitry that the AirPort Express has that processes the AirTunes stream to get it out to your amp. So, whether the Time Capsule or your iMac is hosting the iTunes Library, in order for your amp to be able to use it, you will need the Express.

  • Windows connect to unix kick off korn shell - can it be done?

We are running CF7 on windows, but I need to be able to read
and kick off a korn shell job that is sitting on a unix box. I've
looked at both cfdirectory and cffile, but I'm at a loss if I can
do this. Does anyone know the steps I need to do this? Is it
possible? Any help would be great.
    thanks,

    ugly vs elegant
I'm a newbie so you'll get the ugly.
    1) Have unix poll a directory
    2) Have CF drop a file in that directory
    3) Have unix run korn shell if file exists
    Good luck!

  • I want to buy a sound bar for my tv but want one that connects wirelessly to my apple tv, all the sound bars i have looked at do not mention this any recomendations ?

I want to buy a sound bar for my samsung tv that  connects wirelessly to my apple tv so that i can listen to music through the sound bar. Are there any sound bars out there that can do this ?

I do believe that the ability for your Apple TV to airplay audio to external devices was added just in the most recent update, that was released when iOS 6 was released if I'm correct, so there might not be any that specifically mention that yet.
Since it uses AirPlay I'd assume any AirPlay compatible speaker would work, but I would look into it more before spending your money, just in case.

  • Samsung Smarttv & Samsung sound bar connection???

I've tried connecting these several ways & still cannot get sound except thru cable. My HDMI's are connected from sound bar to HDMI ARC. When I turn tv on I have to manually change the sound bar to HDMI. When I first had my tv installed was thru the Geek Squad (everything was correct & sound bar was on D IN) I've moved & now it's all screwed up. HELP!!!!

    Hello Cam66-
It certainly sounds like you are dealing with a frustrating situation!
I would recommend either trying Samsung’s support page here or contacting them directly for some troubleshooting options.  Otherwise, our home theater experts at your local Best Buy store may have some suggestions as well.  In addition, one of our community members may stop in to offer some assistance.

  • MacMini, Vizio TV, & Sound Bar

I've been running a MacMini through my Vizio TV via an HDMI connection and using it as my home entertainment hub. I recently purchased a Vizio Sound Bar + wireless subwoofer from Costco, hoping to beef up my audio. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to force the TV (or the MacMini) to recognize the sound bar.
I've tried connecting the sound bar to the TV via another HDMI cable as well as using a 3.5mm RCA cable that came with the sound bar, but no matter what configurations I've tried the sound from my computer will only play through the television's internal speakers, not the sound bar.
The mac mini's sound preferences only recognizes the TV as an output source.
Hoping somebody on these forums has figured out how to get all these components to play nicely with each other.

I ended up purchasing a digital optical cable and an adapter that allows me to plug into headphone jack in the back of the MacMini (about $3 total from Amazon). This seems to be the best way to get solid digital audio (much better than running the optical cable from the TV to the Sound bar).
    Final setup looks like this:
    MACMINI <---HDMI---> TV
    MACMINI <----Optical Cable + Adapter----> Soundbar

  • Simple and efficient email email set up. Can it be done?

Ok I have read thru the Recent Mode and Gmail cc'ng issues threads. Found some work-around solutions but nothing really efficient. Both my MBP (POP to Mail client) and iPhone are online most of the time and downloading from my Gmail with POP.
These are my 3 simple goals for an efficient email set up:
    a) Incoming mail delivered to both devices.
    b) When an email is deleted on either device it goes away on the other one as well. Ideally it stays on the gmail server.
    c) No silly cc'ing the iPhone on all messages sent from Mail or the Gmail web interface.
Sounds pretty simple huh? Can it be done? Would an IMAP account (such as mac.com) be needed?

It sounds like you need an IMAP mail account, and GMail ain't it. Try looking into Fastmail.fm.

  • How can I connect my new LG Sound Bar NB 3531A with my MacBook Pro Mid 2010 via Bluetooth

    Hey,
bought a new sound bar and want to connect it to my MacBook Pro. When start pairing an error shows up telling me to check the Bluetooth range and so on. When I try to connect without a code (0000) there is a connection but it´s not possible to use the bar as a stereo headset in the bluetooth menue.
The Sound Bar should be ready to play because I can use it with my iPhone and on Win-notebooks.B
There are no system-updates availabe and I´m using OSX 10.8.4. Can someone help?
    Best wishes from Germany

It seems that my bluetooth driver crashed or anything. Tried it with an other MacBook and worked fine. Called the Apple- and LG-Support.
The Apple-Supporter told my to reinstall my OS X. Crashed. I´ll start a complete new installation today.

  • Can't connect HW-F450 Sound bar to Toshiba 55VL900A

    Hi,
I am trying to connect a Samy HW-F450 Sound bar to my Toshiba 55VL900A with a HDMI cable.
Not sure what i am doing wrong have tried the ARC slot and the ordinary HMDI out slots.
It seems to be almost connected but no sound at all.
I'm slowly going insane pls help.

MichaelJ71, I have downloaded the manual for both your Toshiba 55VL900A and your Samsun sound bar, and on page 13 of your Samy manual, it mentions connecting to the TV with either audio or optical input (which I personally have tried with our 32RL900A, and found quite satisfactory),
so I would suggest that would be the easiest way to connect your two devices.
A visit to your nearest Jaycar will enable the purchase of the required Optical cable to do the job, at a reasonable price.
Let us know how it all turns out, this makes people feel that their advice is appreciated

  • TS3048 My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

My early 2009 Mac Pro does not connect via bluetooth to my sound bar or bluetooth mini speakers. Both my wireless keyboard and mouse have no problems connecting. What do I need to do to connect to external bluetooth devices?

I would always have a wired keyboard and mouse on hand (need not be expensive ... any cheap wired devices will work).  "Emergency recovery" procedures can activate features in random order, so the opportunity to select a recovery partition may pass before the wireless devices are recognized.
That will let you select the "turn on Bluetooth" icon.

  • Problem connecting Apple TV2 to projector when passing through Sony Sound Bar

I'm having problems getting my Apple TV2 to work now that I'm passing it through my new Sony HT-CT150 Sound Bar to my Epson Megaplex Projector MG-850 (720p) Projector. I keep getting a "Not Supported" error on my projector - as opposed to a "No Signal" error which is what happens if I was to unplug the Apple TV.
My HDMI cables are all new and latest specs. I can connect the Apple TV directly to projector with either cable and it works fine. I have a 6 ft HDMI connecting the Apple TV to one of the Sony Sound Bar's 3 HDMI inputs and then a 40 ft. HDMI running from the sound bar's HDMI out to the projector's single HDMI input. Oddly, if I reverse the cables, it seems to work. Same two cables - just switching which one is connected to the Apple TV and which is connected to the projector. (I need the length to get to where my projector is positioned. Though I might be able to get by with a 30 ft. cable if length might be the issue.)
Anyway I think it must have something to do with the HDMI handshake or the lenth of the cables but don't know enough about it and have no idea why switching which cable comes first would fix the problem.

Ok,  I will ask the question in another way... My apple tv has one hdmi, and it goes to my hd projecter.. But projecter has no speakers, and as a result I've no sound at the moment. I am looking for a clear direction to go in, to solve lack the of any sound.. My only option seems to be, using the optical out from the apple tv.. I don't have  any equipment with this conecter. And I've never used optical before..   If i buy an, optical to twin phono converter and then I can plug into a large powered speaker I've got in my living room. And I will have big sound easily..?? Do I have any other reasonable options for optical enabled speakers, or AirPlay speakers or something simple I'm not aware of that will give me sound easily.. I don't want a messy 5:1 system, my house is very tidy, and I want to keep it that way. .  Only having this optical out is frustrating, and I need to get my head round the options I have.   Anyone understand from experience how to use the optical apple tv out.  Also, not  using anything but apple tv, no dvds, or tv , just apple tv and my ipad.. Is very quiet in my home right now though.  Ric

  • MacBook Pro to Samsung sound bar Bluetooth not connecting

    Hello all,
I recently purchased a Samsung sound bar with bluetooth connectivity. I can connect my iPhone 5s to it and stream music with no problem. But when I try to connect my MacBook Pro, it simply connects and promptly disconnects. I have tried shut down, restart, and even unplugging the battery on the MacBook with no luck.
I am running OSX 10.9.3 with all available updates.
Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

Same here I'm using a Samsung HW-H550 Sound Bar - Connect's with iPhone/iPad on IOS 7.1.1 on my Mac Book Pro Retina OS X 10.9.3. Having no joy even went down the root of deleting the Bluetooth Pref file  didn't work either.
Looking forward to any workable solution

  • Samsung sound bar connection

Is it possible to connect a samsung sound bar and a headphones set to the back of the Samsung TV?  I can only find one audio input.  I called the Samsung tech service people and was told quickly that it cannot be done.  So how can I have both the sound bar and the headphones connected?

No you cannot plug the Samsung soundbar and headphones into most TV's together. You don't state whether you have normal headphopnes or wireless or a model, nor do you mention the model of your TV.
The soundbar assuming the model you have uses an optical output, and we will assume you are using a headphone mini cable. When the headphones are plugged in should take priority over the soundbar.
Give me the models of the tv, soundbar, what kind of headphones, and the devices going to the tv so we can help.
Now some TV's from Samsung like the LED's have a headphone output. The matching soundbar does have a headphone input. You could plug the soundbar to the tv via that and have the headphones in at the same time. See tv out below and the splitter

  • REGZA sound bar connection

How to connet Toshiba SBZ 1520 3d sound bar to my REGZA 42XV540U  tv ?   Use optical cable?

I also have a sound bar that I wanted to connect to my Toshiba 42XV540U and it came with a digital optical cable to use.  The digital optical cable will not stay in the digital audio out port on the back of the TV.  I can put it in there (doesn't "lock" into place though) and it will stay for a minute, but fall out if moved at all.  It is the correct type of digital cable to use with the TV (regular digital optical cable not mini).  When I plug one end of it into the back of the sound bar, it makes a "click" and locks in.  It does not do that on the back of the TV.  It is almost as if the digital audio out port/connection is not made correctly on the TV. The sound bar is a Vizio S3820W-C0.  The sound bar did come with regular audio cables as well, but then if I use that it defeats the purpose of having a Dolby Digital sound bar speaker.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  • Sound Bar connection

I have a 32c110u in my 5th wheel trailer (RV).  It has red and white RCA plugs labeled "Audio Out."   I am attempting to hook up a sound bar that uses RCA connectors.  Upon plugging to the TV connections, the TV emits a clicking noise.  Any clue?  is this a non-standard addition to the TV?  Can anything be done to salvage this?

I want to Connect my Mac Mini as a Slave to a Mac pro Server while at the same time using the Mac mini's thunderbolt ports peripherals ( ie monitor, Sound Card, Hard drives) Creating a poor man's new mac Pro. Can this be Done?

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?...  or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?
