Connecting a WRVS4400N to a SRW2016

I am installing a Linksys WRVS4400N (Wireless Router) and a Linksys SRW2016 (Switch) I have this wired as follows  The WAN port is connected to a Cable modem and I can get to the internet when directly connected to the router (see latter comments) Port 1 (LAN) on the router using 568B connected to Port 1 (LAN) on the switch also using 568B I do not get a link light on either the Router or switch but If I remove his cable from the Switch and plug into my laptop I get a link light and an able to connect to the Internet on the Router.
This in my opinion proves the cable is fine.
I have changed the wiring on one end to 566A and keep the other at 568B and am unable to either connect to the router through the Switch (no link lights on either device) nor via my laptop. Thoughts.

Go to the L2 Switch tab of the wrvs4400n under port settings. Change the mode from auto negotiation to 1000 full down to 10 half until the light lit. If still same thing try using a different port on the switch and make sure the ethernet cable is working properly.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 tablet and have bee trying to connect to my WRVS4400N router with VPN through the "on board" software as well as with the Any Connect software from Cisco.  I have no issues at the moment using Quick VPN from my laptop.
When using the Any Connect software I receive the following messages:
    Security warning: untrusted certificate
AnyConnect cannot verify the identity of <IP address>.  Would you like to continue anyway?
    - Certificate does not match the server name.
    - Certificate is from an untrusted source.
    - Certificate is not identified for this purpose
    [Accept]  [Details]  [Cancel]
If I select accept, the following error is received:
"Error:  Connection attempt has failed due to server communication errors.  Please retry the connection".
I have tried setting up the on board VPN with the Samsug Galaxy but every attempt has resulted in a time-out of the connection.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hi Blair,
The WRVS4400N only works with the QVPN software. The only small business router at this current time works with the Cisco any connect vpn is the SA500 series routers.
    I hope this helps.....

  • Issue connecting to WRVS4400N using QuickVPN Client

    Hello,
I am getting the attached error connecting to the WRVS4400N using the QuickVPN.  I get the error from both Windows XP and Windows 7 64-bit.  It has worked fine to a long time and then got the error when I tried to connect off of my hotspot and then tried again from home as normal and am always getting the error.  Another user started getting the error a few weeks after me and she is the one using XP.
I have tried to reinstall, running as different compatibility O/S, running as admin, different userid/password, using remote DNS setting, rebooting router twice and many other things.  I can connect to the router via remote management with no issues and it seems to be working okay.
Would appreciate a resolution.  This is causing issues for remote access that is very much needed.
    Thank You!!

  • Connecting a WRVS4400N to a Dell Swtich

    Good Morning,
I want to buy a WRVS4400N, but I need to know something before.
The router will serve as an access point for 10 wireless station, 6 of them will run over Terminal server, the router will also serve 20 computer for the internet, so I want to Link aggregate the four LAN port to my swtich, I know how to do it on my Dell Powerconnect, but I want to know if the WRVS4400N will support it, there will be a lot of traffic going through the router so linking the 4 port in LAG mode to my Powerconnect swicth will speed up the communication !
    Thank you,
P,S: Sorry for the multi post, I was lost in the cisco support site !
    Sylvain

    Sylvain,
I wouldn't go with the WRVS4400N in the scenario you specified. the router doesn't do LAGS (any router in SBSC product line doesn't support LAGS) next if you're using an internal DHCP server , DHCP request will get sent to all Vlans on the 4400N which only cause problems when the router isn't handing out DHCP.
That being said i would invest in a layer 3 switch ( SG300-10) would work fine. It supports LAGS - Vlans and capable of layer 3. ITS DOESN'T"t GIVE OUT DHCP so you'll need that. For the wireless clients i would get a actual AP (AP541N or Aironet series). This would be a better solution.

  • Can not ping, samba or else to the client which connected to the same WRVS4400N router

I buy a WRVS4400N router. Setup to surf internet successfully.
But each client can't ping, samba, file sharing to each connect to WRVS4400N.
In the router admin page. We can see each client connect to the router.
I have one SSID only. And setup the
Wireless Isolation (between SSID w/o VLAN)
    and
    Wireless Isolation (within SSID)
    both to disable.
And have reboot it several times.

    Please post the output of:

  • I need help configuring three products: WRVS4400N, WAG325N and WVC200

    Hello,
I want your help in three linksys products as mentioned below:
    WAG325N ADSL2+ Router
    WVC200 PTZ CAMERA
    WRVS4400N VPN Router
The computer connections and configuration of above linksys products which I am working with and which are connected with the above three linksys products at present are as follows:
    1) I have one server and one laptop.
    2) Laptop has two wireless adapters which I use to connect to the routers.
    3) The server is connected to the WRVS4400N Router through one of the four ethernet ports mentioned on backside of the WRVS4400N Router. The DHCP of this router is disabled by me and the router's default IP 192.168.1.1 was changed to 192.168.1.12
    4) The WRVS4400N router is connected to the Wag325N router for internet access to the server and server is connected to WRVS4400N Router as mentioned in point number 3 above.
    5) The WAG325N router is setup as per the instructions mentioned that came with the CD of this router. The only change that I have modified is the router's default IP. I have changed the default IP of WAG325N from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.13 and DHCP is enabled on this router.
The help that I want is step by step as follows:
    1) I want to configure the both routers in such a way so that I can access them from anywhere across the world i.e. remotely using internet.
    2) I have WVC200 Camera which I setup according to instructions mentioned in the CD and also configured the DDNS service. But when the " RJ45 Cable is connected " to my WAG325N router and Camera, then only the camera works properly. What I want is that after the setup is completed, I want to remove the RJ45 Cable connected from my camera to router and use the camera wirelessly from any location within the range of my above mentioned WAG325N router. I need flexibility to use my camera without cable connections from any location and any rooms of my house. I also configured the port forwarding and DDNS properly. The only problem is that if I remove the Cable after the setup of camera is finished, then the camera access is not working on LAN or internet(through DDNS). Whereas the same works on LAN and internet using the DDNS service, when the cable is physically connected to the WAG325N router. Also I want one more thing additionally other then this. I want to use this camera wirelessly by configuring the port forwarding options on both routers at a same time(i.e. simultaneously at once on WRVS4400N and WAG325N).
    3) Now as two DHCP cannot work at a same time and as my routers are connected with each other, So I have disabled the DHCP on WRVS4400N. Here I need help so that DHCP can be enabled on both at a same time. Because if the DHCP is not enabled on WRVS4400N then I have to give IP to the server which is connected with server. If I enable the DHCP then there are two DHCP's at a same time on same network and thus problems occurs in internet access to the server. So, what should I do in such a way so that I do not have to give any IP to my server and set it to automatic.
    4) This question is just for my knowledge so that I can use the above mentioned linksys purchases upto full extent possible in future. I want to know what is VPN and how is it usefull? What is the difference between VPN and VPN tunnel? How can VPN be used to access all my network resources connected with my server  in the above situation where my server is connected to WRVS4400N which in turn is connected to WAG325N?
    Thanks !
    Sincerely
    Kalpesh Sharma

    for question number 1:
you said that your main router is WAG325N, for you to remotely access the 2nd router is for you to forward the IP addr [192.168.1.12] on your first router and change its management port of your second router that is located on either the security tab or the administration tab on its User Interface
to access your first router open and Internet Explorer and enter
    http://[public IP addr]:[management port]
the PUBLIC IP or INTERNET IP is located on the status page of your router
to access your second router just change the management port to
    ex.
    http://66.77.88.99:8080 first router
    http://66.77.88.99:8081 second router
    for question number 2:
make sure that you have configured all wireless settings on both your camera and your main router WAG235N, once done save settings and power down your camera and power it back up.
    for question number 3:
for you to enable DHCP on both routers your connection can go like so...
from a regular port of your main router going to the INTERNET port of your second router [this way you can enable DHCP on both routers]. INTERNET is no problem, your cesond router will be able to get connection
    for question number 4:
    VPN - Virtual Private Network
VPN tunnel -is/are connections from router to router [gateway to gateway]
VPN is used to connect a diff network on a diff location for you to have access to the shared filed [it is like a file sharing through the internet]
for you to be able to use VPN tunnel you have to connect to a different VPN router on a diff location. In that way you can get access to the other network

  • Set up WRVS4400N as WDS main router

I've purchase cisco WRVS4400N and setup as a WDS main router and connect to internet.
And I have a TP-LINK router and setup WDS, and can connect to WRVS4400N successfully via WDS.
When I connect to my TP-LINK router. It can't connect to internet.
I want to ask is it possible to configure two router via WDS and share the main router's internet connection?
If it's possible, how to configure it?

    Fibre can be a problem..
The issue is a bunch of things.. it has to do with the gateway being outside of the subnet of the IP that ISP passes to your TC.
The values should indeed be different.. the problem with the TC is lack of flexible adjustments.. when it does not work you cannot fix the route table or spoof the MAC address of the ISP router or all the other low end stuff.. the problem is TC lacks totally in the setup department and it cannot be fixed.
Unless you can convince your ISP to give you a gateway in the correct subnet to the IP the TC will simply never work..
So yes, if you want to use the TC bridge mode is it.

  • WRVS4400N Configuration for VLAN

    Hi all,
we're planning a small private network for our holiday appartments. Therefore we get a Cisco Small Buisiness Switch SG200-18 from a friend. We have created 6 diffrent VLANs on it. But it seems that we need a router do to the routing of our cable connection to the WAN. Is it possible to connect the WRVS4400N to that switch and configure multiple subnets for that vlans? Or how can i do that? I have add a drawing for better understanding.
It would be nice if someone can give me a  hint for that ...
    Thanks for any help ...
    Regards,
    Martin

    Martin,
The RV220W is about a year old and the WRVS4400N has been around for several years. The RV220W has many more features including much better IPv6 support and up to 16 VLANs. If you are looking for a router that will get you through the next several years, the RV220W is probably a much better choice. It is of course more expensive, so this should be factored into your decision as well.

  • Wrvs4400n keep dropping wireless connection

    hi there,
has anyone got problem with  wrvs4400n keep dropping the wireless connection? i tried to find out anywhere but not much hints are given how to solve the issue.
i have 1.1.03 firmware installed, and currently running on
    b/g/n mixed on channel 9
    wpa2 personal mixed security
the rest of the settings on default
i had the router running for about 3 months and most of the time i have to either restart the server to get the wireless working again. normally the wireless works ok until few days when suddenly I just can't access the internet using the wireless.
once i replug my computer using cable, the wireless router suddenly can give me IP address and the wireless return back to normal.
    i have tried to use
    different channels
changing to G/N, and B/G mode
    change key renewal frequency
    reduce RTS Threashold
accessing the wireless router from 3 different wireless network card
none of them really works, normally after few days, 1 week top, i suddenly lost wireless connection again. the SSID still there, i can authenticate, somehow the wireless just won't give me IP address
checking the website, it seems like i'm on the latest firmware from linksys and they don't seem updating the firmware anymore, is this product not supported anymore?
anyone knows of the same problem ? or has already solved the issue?

    Hey Stewey,
I have a similar problem with my iMac G5. My roommate, who has an HP, bought a Linksys WRT54G when we moved in to our place and it gives me trouble with Airport sometimes. We use G only and WPA Personal. I updated the firmware in February and I swear it got a bit better, but it still goes out sometimes. If I move it just a few inches in any direction, generally it will start working again. Resetting it also helps sometimes. I don't know if its the fact that it doesn't say it's compatible with any Mac on the box, but it's annoying as all ****. My roomie rarely has problems with it (our rooms are the same distance away from the router), but my friend brought his PB over to do some work and he had trouble in my room as well. Is it Linksys, or is it Airport? I have no idea. Our router is out in the living room, next to the TV and Xbox 360, so it might be interference. If possible, try moving the router to higher ground and away from other electronics.
I tried looking up your router online to see if I could find anything else out. Didn't find too much info, but it says that you get free 24 hour tech support. You don't see that too often. If you can't figure it out, give them a call.
    Good luck!

  • WRVS4400N Drops connection

I have a WRVS4400N v2 router updated to Firmware V2.0.2.1.  At random times (I haven't been able to find a consistent series of events leading up to the problem) the router will stop allowing connections to function.  Both wireless and wired connections are affected.  I am unable to ping the router or access the web interface from any of the computers that were functioning through the router just moments before, so I'm fairly certain that the problem is with the router, and not somewhere between the router and the internet.  The only way I can get everything functioning again is to power cycle the router.  The problem sometimes occurs multiple times in an hour, and will sometimes go all day with no problem.  I am only using the router for a simple wireless access point, and don't have any of the more advanced features enabled.  I am unsure of what to look for to help me diagnose the problem.  Any suggestions of what to look for would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Well, it finally locked up again while I was away for a couple of hours.  I'm still setting up for an event that starts tomorrow that I was intending to use the router for, so nobody but me has been using it.  The computers were all showing 169.254 IP addresses.  I have no way of knowing how long the router was offline, but I'm not surprised to find that the computers dropped back to self assigned addresses.  I power cycled the router, and was able to use it for a minute or two, and it locked up again.  For the few minutes after that, the computers continued to show IP addresses that had been assigned by the router.  A second power cycle failed to get it online, so I'm stopping fighting with it, and will go dig out a much older (different brand) router that was slower, but apparently more reliable.
After seeing several other discussions on these forums with similar sounding problems, and recommendations to call in for support, I had started there.  Unfortunately I was told that my free year of call support (that I wasn't aware that I had) expired quite some time ago.  I was directed to these forums as a place for support without paying the $75 fee to open a ticket.  Rather than continue to fight with this router, I guess I'll put my money towards a new and different router.  It's too bad since this one had come highly recommended to me.
Thanks for the attempts to help here.

  • WRVS4400N does not allow wireless connections

I've had the WRVS4400N for about six months. Three times in the past two months I have had to factory reset the device and reconfigure it because it would not allow any wireless connections. Perhaps unfortunately I applied the latest firmware update about a month before these problems began. Is there any work-around or setting change that I can make to avoid this problem? When wireless connections are impossible the device is still reachable via the ethernet connection.

If only the wireless is dorpping on the unit then, most probably a firmware concern. Try reflashing the firmware again if that helps. Also try to change some of the advance wireless settingso nthe router, set the RTS and fragmentation to thresholds to 2306 as well as teh beacon interval to 50.

  • WRVS4400N Connection Problems

I tried to install a new WRVS4400N router in our main office that has a Static IP address to allow our 5 remote offices that have BEFVP41 routers with dynamic IP's and was unable to connect.
We currently have a BEFVP41 in the main office but it is approximately 5 years old and I want to start replacing the BEFVP41's with newer routers.
I configured the new WRVS4400N with all of the existing VPN tunnels and when I connected it in the main office I received these error messages that I have posted below from the VPN log.
Can anyone tell me what some of these message mean and where my configuration on the new WRVS4400N might me wrong and causing the problem?
Has anyone on the forum been able to connect a BEFVP41 to a WRVS4400N successfully?
Thanks for any help you can offer,

I received the security update today so I downloaded the newest release - WRVS4400Nv2-fw-2.0.1.3-K9 and will install it as soon as I can. Putting it back to Factory Defaults will not be an option. I had to call your support line to have them walk me through opening the router up to accept our new cable offering of 50MBS/5MBS. The router was throttling the speeds. I will need to keep those settings. Now that I have turned off one of the wireless SSID broadcasts it seems to be doing better... cross my fingers and knock on wood! I am concerned as we are getting ready to add on 12 to 14 more users in the next year.
Who or where would I need to talk with someone about the 891?
