Connecting Acer Iconia tablet tp BT BB

Just bought an Acer Iconia tablet but can't connect to BT homeHub 2.   Tablet says hub is disabled even though my Acer laptop is connected and working at the same time.  Icon on the tablet wireless settings window shows a padlock suggesting the hub is locked against access by other devices.
Tablet works on an O2 hub with no problem.   Any suggestions?

Hi silversurfer99, Welcome to the Forums
Have you ever been into your Homehub to change any of the wireless setttings?
If not, you may want to reset your homehub and try again.
If that doesn't work, you can gain access to your Homehub's interface by typing in 192.168.1.254 into your browser (from a device connected to the hub). From there you can check your wireless settings and alter them according to how you want your security (The best is WPA2). You can also change your password through this menu.
Sometimes devices are temperamental with what Wireless Channel they are on - You may want to switch this around and see if your device connects.
The padlock you are seeing usually means the hub's wireless is passworded, are you sure this isn't the case?
I hope this helps.

  • Problems Connecting Acer Iconia W510 Wirelessly to...

Because my daughter has a disability. She has been given an Acer Iconia W510 by her school for her work in school and so she can do her homework at home. I have tried everything but I cannot get it to connect wirelessly to my BT Infinity Broadband. The laptop recognises the network and appears to connect to it but it doesn't because it won't connect to the Internet. I have normally connected other devices via BT Desktop Help without a problem but this isn't installed on my daughter's laptop. It does connect to the Internet at my daughter's school. Does  anyone have any ideas what the problem might be and what I need to do? Many thanks.

First of all reset the home hub to factory default and try again.
If that fails, then change the wireless encryption on the home hub to WPA only, delete the existing wireless connection on the ACER, end re-enter the wireless key again.

  • Acer Iconia A1-830 and Blackberry z30 Hotspot Connection After OS Upgrade To KitKat 4.4.2

Despite receiving an update for OS KitKat 4.4.2 my Blackberry z30 is still unable to connect to my Acer Iconia A1-830 via HOTSPOT or BLUETOOTH TETHERING. Obviously this is a software issue because the original OS Jellybean 4.2.4 was working fine before the upgrade to KitKat 4.4.2. Acer need to provide a fix so that my Acer Iconia A1-830 and my Blackberry z30 can connect via HOTSPOT or BLUETOOTH TETHERING.

Anything happening with this? I have 3 Acer B1-750s, Android 4.4.4 Kernel 3.10.20+Acer Image version: Acer_AV0K0_B1-750_RV03RC02_WW_GEN1Build #: Acer_AV0K0_B1-750_1.012.00_WW_GEN1 Steps to reproduce:1. Turn on the blackberry hotspot2. Enable WiFi on the tablet3. Select the Blackberry hotspot from the list of available networks4. Enter the WPA pass phrase5. Watch as the Acer repeatedlt tries (and fails) to connect. An open unsecured hotspot is not an option, and in any event the blackberry has no option to disable security. The Acer does connect to Android and iPhone Hotspots with no trouble, but I use a Blackberry in my business operations so those devices don't count.Really need this to work or the Acer tablets I purchased have to be returned for something that works with Blackberry Hotspot, by way of investigating this problem I now know Nexus works properly, as does Samsung)

  • Install windows 8 64bit on 64bit architecture tablet(acer iconia w4-820) by removing the preloaded 32bit windows 8.1 or dual boot

    Hi,
I need to install windows 8 64bit on a 64bit architecture Tablet(acer iconia w4-820) by removing the preloaded 32bit windows 8.1 or should make it as dual boot. For a project purpose.
I tried booting the tablet from windows 8 64bit DVD for installation but it does't even detect the DVD Drive. when i insert the recovery DVD which came with acer it gets detected.
The windows 8 64bit DVD which am trying to install is volume licensed which we use to install on our laptops. That works fine with Laptops.
Is their any different version of windows 8 do i need to try for installing on Tablet(acer iconia w4-820) or where am i going wrong.
    Thank for your help.

    SM
DISCLAIMER.  I would contact Acer about this to be safe, but if you only have one HD in the tablet you are going to have to do a clean install by formatting the HD.  You cant run 64 bit & 32 bit on the same drive AFAIK.

  • Acer Iconia Tab 8 A1-840 FHDSD card mount problem

I bought the Iconia tab 8 (A1-840 FHD) and was disappointed. Due to incorrectly configured firmware - SD card when the device is connected properly mounted within the system (such as an external USB drive), there is no way to transfer files to it (the card is locked for writing applications) can not be set as a cache for Google Music, no connection mode as USB drive when connected to a computer. In fact, it is not working appendage and is not intended for storing information. When can I expect to fix this problem? Why was it decided to change the default for all other tablets on the market functionality?

I have not been able to use my micro SD card that I bought for my Acer iconia tab 8 from  day 1 as it is not functional due to whatever changes that were made prior to boxing and shipping out to the public. On the box and in advertising it is listed as a feature which constitutes fraud in my opinion. And if there is some round about way of using it that is not good enough. You should be able to utilize the card slot/function just as you would if it were a camera or a laptop computer. Even though I have not been able to use it I have left it in my tablet and when I turned my tablet on I got a notification that it was damaged and to try to reformat it. It's funny that I can't use it but the tablet somehow damaged it! Double whammy! So what is Acer going to do to fix this situation for all of us who have purchased tablets with useless card slots? No excuses or be either. Consumers, like myself, are tired of being lied to and taken advantage of. • Cannot transfer from ADE to Acer Iconia Tab a500

I have used my Adobe ID and password and installed ADE on my pc (XP), but ADE does not recognize my Acer Iconia Tab a500, which is listed as a supported device.  I have registered the Iconia tab and also authorized it with the same Adobe ID and password.  The installation instructions tell me that my e-reader device will appear as a new bookshelf in the library when the device is connected to my pc, but it does not, so I am unable to transfer from my pc to the e-reader. Any ideas?

I just got an Acer Iconia A500 for Christmas and was going through the same problems as "cantreadit".  Since I'm not the most technically advanced person in the world (I'm an old fart in his 60's), I was panicking about not being able to use this part of my tablets capabilities, and started looking for a cure on the internet (Acer was almost no help).  I couldn't get past the sign-on to Adobe ADE, and always got an error message.  I saw a comment about a "time-expired" error being caused by the tablet and the computer mot having the same time shown, but my tablet was the exact time as my computer.  When I went a little deeper, I found that my tablet didn't have the "TIME ZONE" marked correctly (mine was set off of GMT, the default).  When I tethered my tablet and computer together and had both open to the time I reset my tablets time (the tablet doesn't set to the second, so I waited until the computers second hand got to the exact minute and clicked on the tablets clock - I don't know if you need to get that exact, but....).  When I went to my tablet and signed in, this time my authorization was accepted.
Note: Adobe ADE still doesn't show my tablet as connected, and I can't download from Adobe directly, but (being an "old fart") I always save my books first to a folder on my computer before opening them to ADE.  When I went to my tethered tablet and copied the folder with (the DRM protected) e-books on my SD card, then went to LumiRead, then settings, then to "manage my book folders" and added that folder to the folders that LumiRead looks at, ALL the books were there and readable.  Saving the books to a folder first (which my Techno-Geek" son and son-in-law said was un-necessary) seems to have worked out good for me.
My last concern is that I don't know if Overdrive will also "see" the ADE authorization and let me download books from my local library on line (which I use a lot for my dedicated e-reader), but I'm going to check that out later today (here's hoping that works too).
This may not be the same problem that the rest of you have been facing (my problem may have been too simple for the rest of you guys to miss), and it may not be the complete cure (I still have the Library & Overdrive to checkout).  Also, the rest of you may have trusted the system to work properly, and not "stupidly" saved the books you bought to a folder on your computer (like a skeptical "old fart" like me would do), but for the other "Old Farts" out there, this may be the cure your looking for (no matter how simple it may be).

  • [SOLVED] Help needed with ACPI accelerometer - Acer Iconia Tab W501

    Hi,
I am trying to get the accelerometer working on my Acer Iconia Tab W501
In windows, it reported as a BMA150 device, so I have that driver loading on boot.
After months of googling and making a mess in /sys, I still have not got the device working. I was working under the assumption that the device hangs off the i2c bus, but a "lucky google" today uncovered that it is showing up through acpi - acpid is present in my daemons array of rc.conf and the kernel module acer_wmi is also loaded.
The device is certainly sending signals to the kernel. Upon boot, dmesg ends up as follows:
    [ 11.689709] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlan0: link becomes ready
    [ 12.108374] EXT4-fs (sda2): re-mounted. Opts: commit=0
    [ 12.148026] EXT4-fs (sda3): re-mounted. Opts: commit=0
    [ 17.759006] FS-Cache: Loaded
[ 17.780371] FS-Cache: Netfs 'cifs' registered for caching
[ 17.816097] CIFS VFS: default security mechanism requested. The default security mechanism will be upgraded from ntlm to ntlmv2 in kernel release 3.3
    [ 22.459133] wlan0: no IPv6 routers present
Now, if I rotate the device, and run dmesg again, I have the following:
    [ 1255.189705] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 5 - 1
    [ 1257.363688] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 5 - 1

    [ 1308.784623] acer_wmi: Unknown function number - 5 - 1
acpi -V does not show the device:

    [ 5.220895] acer_wmi: Acer Laptop ACPI-WMI Extras
Yet, running acpi_listen generates the following when the tablet is rotated:
    PNP0C14:00 000000bc 00000000
    PNP0C14:00 000000bc 00000000
    PNP0C14:00 000000bc 00000000
    PNP0C14:00 000000bc 00000000
So, it would seem the device is working and sending data to the kernel/drivers, it appears some config is needed to get it properly recognised and an entry in /dev generated.
Really hoping there is an acpi expert around who may be able to help me get the device properly recognised and configures, ideally, as a /dev/input/js*
    Cheers.

There is no need to patch the kernel anymore as current kernels have the acer wmi accelerometer patch merged.
Ensure you have the kernel module acer_wmi loading and then the events should be propogated. acpi_listen should show the events.
Using the code from here: http://www.jezra.net/blog/Python_Joysti … ng_Gobject i have written a little daemon that monitors the accelerometer and automatically rotates the screen based on it's position.
    Cheers.
[EDIT] Being a laptop, I am guessing the accelerometer is possibly on the hard drive?? used for shock protection?? So if that is the case, I am not sure you will be able to utilise it in the same way as a tablet's accelerometer. There are articles on the web for setting up hard drive accelerometers in linux. The other consideration you need is that the accelerometer may not be on acpi. It could be on the i2c bus (commonly where sensors such as fan speed, core temps etc are located), in which case you will need the i2c driver to get the accelerometer events recognised in the kernel (ensure i2c kernel modules are loaded). So check exactly how the kernel detects the accelerometer, is it on acpi or the i2c bus?[/EDIT]

  • I am trying to activate an Acer Iconia - apparent Network Error

I am trying to activate an Acer Iconia (Android) via LumiRead app. I receive an error 'Activation Failed - There is a network error, please check your WiFi, or the content server may not be available now. - Details show E_STREAM_ERROR: CURL returned 7 (0x7)'.
The Aldiko app also fails to authorise - 'Error. Could not connect to server'.
The Iconia was rebuilt under warranty about 6 months ago, prior to this the Iconia was activated successfully.
There is no network error - I'm using WiFi now. The thing I find interesting is that I can not access any Adobe web page via any of the Android browsers (built in browser, Chrome, Photon Browser), but can access via PC - which is where I'm typing this from.
ADE works fine on PC, and I can read DRM books.
Activating the Iconia is starting to sh*t me up the wall. I have Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome and I'm trying to access a pain managment book via the Iconia. I'd appreciate any help
    Thanks Sheridyn

Is it possible there is some kind of firewall app running on the Iconia that is causing the problems?
Try turning off any firewall (temporarily) to see if that helps.
It might be worth posting on Acer sites to see if anyone has similar issues.
Try the Bluefire app; though I suspect that will fail if the others did.
    Good luck.
