Connecting AIR-ANT5160NP-R to 1602E - Do ABC positions matter?

Hello,
I am setting up my first wireless device, a point-to-point bridge to get network access to a small warehouse near one of our buildings. I had a question regarding the cable positions for the A B and C connectors on our external antenna (AIR-ANT5160NP-R).
The 1602E has the connectors labelled as follows:
However, the antenna does not have any matching markings stating which port aligns with which each letter. I looked at the guide for the antenna and it doesn't mention anything.
I have it connected (and working) right now in our test lab and they are actually plugged in differently on both ends:
I figured it didn't make much of  a difference (apart from having them configured the same on both ends). Then I saw this picture explaining how to set up a 4-port antenna with a 1600 series AP:
Is there a specifc way that the 3-port AIR-ANT5160NP-R should be connected to the 3-port 1602E?

You should use a recommended dual band. But since the patch is a 3 lead, it doesn't matter what port.

  • How to connect Air with Thunderbolt?

How do I connect Air with Thunderbolt?
Bought Air in Oct 2011 and Thunderbolt today.
Does Mac OS X (10.6.5) work with Thunderbolt?
Do I need a special cable other than what came in box?

    Hey moxiedoggy,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you want to use Target Display Mode to use your iMac as a second screen to your MacBook Air. Since your said your MacBook Air is from 2011, it should have the thunderbolt, and you can connect the two computers using the following instructions:
Use an iMac with Thunderbolt as a display
If you have an iMac with Thunderbolt, any other Mac with Thunderbolt can use it as a display. The iMac will play both the video and audio from the other Mac.
Connect the Thunderbolt cable to the Thunderbolt ports on each computer.
Make sure both Mac computers are turned on and awake.
Press Command (⌘)-F2 on the keyboard of the external display Mac.
If you want the external display Mac to play audio as well as video from the primary Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound, and then click Output. Select the external display Mac from the list of devices.
You'll want to go over the requirements for using Target Display Mode here, along with other FAQs:

  • Connecting AIR with external database

Is it possible to connect AIR application to the external database in MySQL technology?

Are you trying to connect to a MySQL database on a web server somewhere? If so, by far the easiest way to do so is to use some sort of application server layer (e.g. PHP, ColdFusion, Java) on the web server, and have the AIR application call the PHP (or whatever) code to get the data. That is the approach that all the links Greg has given you are talking about.
Of course, in order to make that work you need to know enough PHP/Java/ColdFusion to write that middle layer. In the example you're asking about, the information it wants to know is the name of the server that the MySQL database is running on, and the MySQL username and password for the MySQL account that your PHP code is supposed to use. There are tons of resources on the web for writing PHP code that accesses MySQL, so you'll find much more and better information in other places than what you'll find in the Adobe AIR forums.
However, maybe you want to have the MySQL server running directly on the user's computer rather than on a web server somewhere. In that case you would have a few options:
Run a web server and application server (e.g. Apache and PHP) on the user's computer and use those to connect between the AIR application and the MySQL server.
Write Java code to communicate between the MySQL server and the AIR app, and call that code using Merapi (http://merapiproject.net/)
Run the MySQL server on the user's computer and call the server directly from AIR using ActionScript. While there is no built-in support for MySQL in AIR, there is a third-party (open source) library for calling MySQL directly from ActionScript available here: http://code.google.com/p/assql/. I haven't tested it so I have no idea how complete it is, but it's a solution to consider.
However, in all three cases you're depending on some external pieces that have to be installed and loaded separate from your AIR application. (For instance, most users probably don't want a MySQL server running on their computer all the time if they aren't using your AIR app all the time -- so you'd want a way to start and stop the server, which also couldn't be done directly in AIR.) People do write applications that use external resources like this, but it's not the easiest thing to implement.
If you're really wanting to run the database locally, the best solution (assuming it works for your needs) is to use AIR's built in local SQL database engine (based on SQLite). If you've looked at that option already, and found that it doesn't work for you, I'd be interested to know more about what you're trying to accomplish that you can't accomplish with the AIR local database.

  • External Antenna Mount for AIR-ANT5160NP-R

I about to embark on a project to create a wireless bridge using a pair of Cisco Aironet 1252's, which will be mounted internally, and a pair of Cisco Aironet 5-GHz MIMO 6-dBi Patch Antenna (AIR-ANT5160NP-R), which will be mounted externally.
Could anyone suggest the best way to mount the antenna? Both will be mounted to steel upper wall of the building (its brick below this). I couldn't find any specific mounting kits.

My bad on the metal wall mounting, it was late and I was tired.
Now  that I have slept some here is what I am thinking.  Why use the MIMO  patch antenna?  On such a short link you can use an omni stick.  Then  mount this to a wall mount antenna bracket such as this -  http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=wall+mount+antenna+brackets&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=6140961992914474386&ei=NCXlTKHiIYKglAfVw6XjCw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CC8Q8wIwAA#
You  would only need one bracket for each location and can secure the  bracket to the metal wall with either large self tapping screws or using  butterfly bolts.
If you are worried about your  signal propogation then make sure your link is encrypted with AES and  that your power is at minimum to establish the 54M link.
I would use the AIR-ANT5160V-R antenna.

  • Connecting Air to external monitor (Dell)

I am trying to help my boss connect his Air (2010 edition) to an old Dell monitor we have here at the office. I bought a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter but when we connected everything his Mac screen didn't appear on the Dell. Is there something else we need to do? The Dell monitor is about 8-9 years old I think.

HI, Wormo, and welcome to Apple Discussions. If the broken display cable hasn't shorted anything out and damaged the logic board (and it sounds as though things may still be working properly other than the display), you should be able to hit the F7 key at the top of your keyboard to toggle between extended-desktop mode and display mirroring mode. The latter, in which the external display shows the same thing as the built-in display, is what you want, since that should enable you to see your hard drive, desktop files, menu bar and dock on the external display. You are probably in extended-display mode now.

  • How do you connect air to a projector

How do you connect the air to a projector, what cable do you need.

It depends on what type of connector the projector has, but basically you will most likley need a Mini-Displayport to HDMI, VGA or DVI connector.  With that you should be able to use a "standard" cable from the projector to the computer.
As I recall, Amazon also stocks a Mini-Displayport to HDMI cable that would be a single cable--but it would require a projector that will take HDMI input.  Many newer projectors have that connection, but older ones will not.
If you are hooking to multiple projectors the VGA option right now is the one that will work in virtually all cases--even if the projector has another connector, it almost always has a VGA connection to deal with older laptops.

How do I connect my Samsung SCX-3405 to Apple Air Print

If the printer is not AirPrint compatible, you need to use a 3rd party printing app to make it so. If Samsung does not provide such an app for this printer via the iTunes app store, there are a number of 3rd party printing apps available via the iTunes app store.

  • Connect Air to iMac

    Hello!
    Device #1: 21" iMac - Mini Displayport
Device #2: 13" MacBook Air - Thunderbolt Port
After I bought the Air, which has better performance, I have been barely using the iMac - unless I specifically need the bigger display. Anyway, I thought about combining forces and use the iMac as a display for my Air. Is there anyway I can do this? Apparently, the old iMac is not target mode enabled. If that is possible, what's the right cable for the job?
    Thanks!

OK - I received my new 27" iMac and connected my mid-2012 MacBook Air to the iMac via Thunderbolt. I pressed Command + F2 on the iMac to move into Target Display Mode but all I get is a nice big 27" screen of nothing (black screen). Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

  • Beam Internet/Laptop Connect Air Card not working properly

We recently upgraded to the ATT Beam aircard as we lost our previous version on vacation. We live in a rural area and using the Laptop USB Connect Card (Beam) is the only access to the internet. When we first activiated it we were able to connect to the internest the first couple of days (Windows 7). Now, the digital read out on the Beam shows "Ready to Connect" but when opening the All Access icon to connect, we either get a "no modem/device detected" or it will say its connected on All Access but the Beam show Ready to Connect and we have no access. I've run the diagnositic too, I've deleted All Acess and reinstalled, I've unplugged and plugged the Beam back in, nothing works, I have not been able to connect to the interet with it at all. I am currently teathering off my cell phone. I'm locked into a 2 year on this Beam since I upgraded and so far its not working. Thoughts?

  • Connecting AIR-AP1141N-A-K9 to AIR-WLC2112-K9

    Hi there,
I'm quite new to Cisco networking, but not to networking as a whole.
We've recently had a production area covered with 5 x AP1141N which are controlled by a 2112 Wireless Controller, it provides a single WLAN for the area.
In an effort to undertand a little more about the way it works, I purchased an additional AP114N and have been working through setting it up and connecting it into the exising system.
I have the AP configured for web administration through HyperTerminal and I am now attempting to connect it to or have it recognised by the controller, but hitting my limit on this right now.
Could somebody with the knowledge please guide me through the next steps?
I can provided any additional information as required to aid your solution.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Nathan

    Hello and welcome...
First, it would appear if you are WEB'd into the AP this would make me beleive you order an autonomous access point instead of the LWAPP ap.
Can you confirm first the full part number of the AP.
Based your title of the POST AIR - XXX this is the autonomous part number.
You will want to configure this to LWAPP in order for the AP to join the WLC.
I hope this helps. If you find this information helpful please support the rating system.
    THANKS!
