Connecting Altec Lansing FX5051 USB speakers to DV-1235dx

Hi All,
I have HP DV-1235dx laptop with windows vista Home Premium 64-bit Operating System with Service pack 1 and Altec Lansing FX5051 5.1 USB speakers .
When I connect my FX5051 speakers(does not require any drivers) to the laptop using USB connection and go to Control Panel --> Sound  and select FX5051 and then Configuration,do the 5.1 sound test ,it produces sound from front two speakers and woofer. The rear speakers does produce any sound.
please let me know how to solve this issue.
Thanks in advance.

I have some more clues/data...
If I connect the XT1 USB Speakers to my PowerBook G4 running 10.4.8, everything works perfectly, reboot, power-up, everything.
One difference I noticed, on the PowerBook, the XT1's blue power LED is lit a second or two before the gray apple appears on boot and stays solid blue from that point on.
On the Mac Pro, the XT1's blue power LED is lit a second or two before the gray apple appears (like the PB) BUT shortly after the gray apple appears the blue LED flashes for less than a second.
If the Mac Pro USB Audio driver mutes the XT1 the blue LED will go out. If the USB power flickers the blue LED will go out.
More clues, more confused.

  • Altec Lansing XT1 USB Speakers Problem

    Hi,
I just purchased Altec Lansing XT1 USB speakers.
I have a Mac Pro running OS 10.4.8.
When my system is running and I plug-in the USB connector to the speakers, the XT1's register to the USB chain and I can use the "Sound" system preference pane to set my output to "Altec Lansing XT1 - USB Audio".
So far, so good. Great sound.
Now, when I either shutdown or reboot my Mac Pro, when the computer is restarted, the XT1's power-up (little blue light is on) but do not register with the USB chain.
The current workaround is, after the Mac Pro is booted, unplug and re-plug the XT1, then go to the "Sound" system preference pane and reset my output to "Altec Lansing XT1 - USB Audio".
    This is a real pain.
Is there any way (maybe a startup item) to make the XT1 register to the USB chain at startup? The Mac Pro boots very quickly, about 15 seconds from gray apple to desktop.
I currently use my Apple 20" Cinema Display's USB port, but no difference using the Mac Pro's rear/front USB.
    Thanks,
    Lonnie

  • Do the Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Speakers work with 80GB iPod Classic???

I have already bought these speakers and now I am worried that they might not work with my new iPod. On the website, it does not say that it is compatible with the new iPod classic, but its doesn't say that its not either. Just incase you don't know what speakers I'm talking about, its this one: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/canadastore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=E2 856423&fnode=home/shopipod/ipodaccessories/speakers&nplm=TM019LL/A
    PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm beginning to think that speakers should work with the Classic ipods because they don't need software to run??? You connect them to the ipod using a dock or a lead. I think the issue with the camera connector could be to do with the software that it uses to transfer photos from camera to ipod.
I'm looking at speakers which'll either be the soundtraveller k3000 or the Altec Lansing Orbit. Both are within budget and have decent battery life although the latter doesn't appear to be able to run off mains but has longer battery life.
What I might do is email the 2 companies and ask or even possibly phone them as both are UK based.

  • New Mac Mini but cannot hear my Altec Lansing Series 100 speakers-help please

Have used my Altec Lansing for a couple of years on my PC and now that I converted to Apple and hte Mac Mini, they do not appear to work. I plugged them into the audio output at the back. Anyone know why the sound is NOT now coming through the speakers?

Which Altec Lansing's do you have?
Are you sure that they are plugged into the Audio Output (Headphone) jack and not the Audio Input jack?

  • Nano docking compatibility with Altec Lansing IM7 speakers?

I just bought Altec Lansing's terrific speakers for my mini - sounds easily as good as my friends Bose - and wonder if anyone knows if the nano is compatible with it. The mini just docks into it - not sure if the nano has identical docking "port" at bottom.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
According to their website, it is compatible...

  • HT2494 Good afternoon, I have a set of 5 speakers + 1 subwoofer 5.1 from Altec Lansing and I would like to connect the 3 cables - 1 black + 1 yellow + 1 green - to my new i-mac. What connection type do I need? And where I can connect it? BR Pascal

    Good afternoon,
    I have a set of 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer 5.1 from Altec Lansing and I would like to connect the 3 exit cables  - 1 black + 1 green + 1 yellow - to my new i-mac 22" - acquired last week - equipped with only 4 USB 3.0 + 2 Thunderbolt + 1 Ethernet + 1 jack for micro or speaker.
What connector type do I need? And where can I connect ot?
Many thanks in advance for your help
    Best regards
    Pascal Quennesson

    Sorry you cannot
That speaker system is for sound cards on PC's which separate the channels, the Mac's don't seperate the channels or decode surround sound formats  and only pass the 5.1 through the dual analog/optical stereo mini port.
You might find a external device that accepts Toslink optical inputs and then separates the channels and sends the appropriate signal to the powered speakers.

  • Speakers Altec Lansing VS-3151 Connecting to HP Pavilion a1130n

I've successfully been using the Altec Lansing Speaker System VS-3151 that I purchased together with my HP Pavilion a650y in 2004. When we recently replaced our desktop, my daughter wanted to inherit the speaker system to use with her HP Pavilion a1130n that was purchased in 2005.  However, we can't determine how to connect those speakers to her desktop. Perhaps there is some kind of converter that we need?

Ok so how did you do it?

  • Altec-Lansing XT1 speakers need to be unplugged after every shutdown

I recently bought a set of Altec-lansing XT1 speakers, partly because I read lots of good reviews but mostly because I missed being able to use my iSub.
They sound better than the internal speakers and having a subwoofer again makes a world of diffecence.
But one problem is becoming increasingly annoying: every time I shut down the computer, I have to unplug and re-plug the speakers' USB cord to get them working.
I have checked the settings in system prefs, MIDI setup and Garage Band, but nothing will make them work each restart except unplugging/plugging USB.
    Any suggestions?

  • 2 of 4 speakers and Subwoofer not working for Altec Lansing Lucasfilms THX Surround (circa 2003)

I am attempting to connect my Altec Lansing Lucasfilm THX 5.1 sound system to my HP ENVY All-in-one. I think the original audio card for the sound system came on a Dell with Soundblaster.
I have connected the green audio to the jack in the back which only gets 2 of the 4 speakers working (even after configuring the speakers). The subwoofer is connected to the sub jack in the back panel as well and is not working at all. I realize that I am trying to have an ancient sound system work with my fancy new HP Envy. Am I asking too much??  I thought maybe a driver update might be needed. But in theory, if those jacks are available in the back it should work (she says optimistically).
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Not a problem.  Thank you for the additional information.
It sounds like you have the speakers connected correctly.  If there is only one connector for all of the speakers, it may be that you will only be able to use two of them.  However, I am not certain why the subwoofer isn't working.  Is it selected in the Control Panel / Sound?  I realize that you said the speakers are configured in the Control Panel, but is the subwoofer separate?
I have an old (2001) Polk Audio set of speakers.  I have only been able to get two of them and the subwoofer to work with my new HP computer.  It sounds fine without the other two speakers.

    thanks inadvance

Hey!? Fourteen people have viewed my post but no replies. What is wrong? Is it too difficult for all of you Gooroos out there or what? How about a reply from one of you hot Creative tecs!? While I am rather simple minded about these things, it seems like a simple enough problem for those of you who know this stuff. I have a nice new sound card that I can't hook to my speaker system. Help!

  • Cq50-142us windows 7 64 bit headphones work but no sound from built in Altec-Lansing speakers

I recently installed Windows 7 64 bit on my CQ50-142US after the hard disk died.  I've installed all the drivers that apply, and in particular the Conexant driver for the built-in audio parts.  The system has built-in Altec-Lansing speakers.
I get no sound from the built in speakers, but if I plug in stereo headphones to the front-panel headphone jack, they work and they produce stereo sound no problem.
I can't see any way to test the speakers.  If the system has any built-in diagnostic capability, I can't find it.
A Google search suggests I'm not the only person with similar problems.
    Suggestions?

You can isolate this issue to a hardware or software fault by running a live distro of Ubuntu linix. See step number 2 to install it to a USB memory stick.
If the device is not recognized by Ubuntu during its config operations that the probem is likely to be with the notebook's system board.
Is your notebook still within the standard one year warranty period?

    Hi,
When you start Messages fro the first time you are asked for an Apple ID
When this is verified and entered it appears in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts and is Enabled.
The App should have also picked on on those iChat Accounst you had before.
These should be Enabled if they were when you last used iChat.
Exactly which "Accounts" are logged in can be seen in Message Menu > Accounts and will include the iMessage "Account" and Bonjour.
In the Window menu you will see CMD +0 for the Messages window and CMD+1 for the "Buddies" window which is a combined list at this stage.
Go to the Preferences > General Section and Untick the "Collect all accounts into one list".
This will give you separate iChat type Buddy lists.
You can check if that account/Buddy list is set to Invisible or if in the Preferences > Accounts > Security you have settings that will block some people from seeing you as On line.
You are saying Buddies can see you as On Line which implies they are still sending to your AIM based Names (@Mac.com is a valid AIM Screen Name)
I am not sure from your post if you are trying to iMessage their email IDs thinking they are Apple IDs and that they are using Messages as well.
There is no Buddy list for iMessages side
No-one can tell you are "On Line" until they have your details in the "To" spot in Messages with the correct iMessaged contact info (iPhone Number or Apple ID)
Obviously an Apple ID can be an email or look like one.
In some cases they are also valid AIM Screen Names as well.
In the case or the @mac.com name you may have linked this Apple ID to iMessages as well.

  • HP Altec Lansing Speakers

    Hi,
I have the HP DV6-3126sa with built in Altec Lansing speakers.
The problem is when im listening to stuff say on YouTube, when it hits a certain pitch it starts to buzz/whistle.
I have tried playing around with the Sound Control settings in Equaliser and turning it down a bit but it still does it.
What I have noticed is when its whistling/buzzing, if I press down on the bottom left of the laptop where the speakers are it kills the problem, but I cant sit doing that all the time.
Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    Scott

I have also found another 3 threads with this problem that has no answers... is this known to HP?

  • Connecting USB Speakers to 2013 iMac without Airplay?

Have new 27" iMac (Intel i5 May 2013 build) and find no way to hook up external USB speakers.  System's preferences offers no external opiton beyond Airplay which I hope to avoid.  I don't know the distinction between USB 2 and USB 3, but wonder if my two year old speakers have an older version of USB connection and whether it will work.  Thanks for any help with this newbie question.

Thanks, BD.  I've been reading about target disk mode which sounds like it might be an appropriate solution for getting my photos and music to the new iMac.  If I understand it, it sounds like I would connect the old MBP to the new iMac with a Firewire 800 cable (with Thunderbolt adapter for the iMac).  The iMac would be running while the old MBP would be started up in Target Mode -- either by holding the T key while booting, or by restarting after selecting the Systems Disk in System Preferences>Mac HD>Restart.  The target MBP should come up in Target Mode and mount in the Finder on the iMac.  This should allow copying the iTunes Files from the MBP to iTunes on the iMac.  Similarly I've read this would enable me also to copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder of the MBP to the Pictures Folder of the iMac.  I'm nervous about whether copying is a simple drag-and-drop, or perhaps a multistage process that requires knowing where precisely to place the new files.  The process on the iTunes seems critical since I'm moving 125 GB.  Still, the concept seems like it might be relatively straight forward as long as I don't get confused about which computer is which, and whether I am dealing with the files themselves or the whole Library folder.  In the case of iPhoto, I believe I'm copying the whole Library from Pictures on MBP to Pictures on iMac.  On the iTunes, I'm not sure if I'm copying the files into the iMac iTunes, or simply copying the Library from MBP Music to iMac Music.  If you have any insight on Target Mode, it might help me decide whether that's the way to go.  Thanks for your replies.  It's nice to know someone out there actually understands this stuff.  Best, Dean
