Connecting another ipod into your itunes

I have the newest itunes and an 80gb video. My mom has the last itunes and a 20gb colour. She wants to put some of my music on her ipod. I know one of my friends put her ipod into her sister's computer and lost all of her music. Mine isn't backed up so I was wondering if I just plug hers into my computer and add songs or if there's a setting that I have to choose...

Before you do anything, make certain that you have your iTunes library backed up. It would be no fun to loose everything and not have a backup.
What your Mom needs to do is get the songs from your iTunes library onto her iTunes library and then update her iPod from her computer. Otherwise, if you plug her iPod into your computer she may lose all of her songs and wind up with a duplicate of what you have on your iPod.
Do it the safe way. Have her update from her computer.

  • Connecting Another Ipod to My Itunes

I have connected a friends Ipod to my itunes, and it shows the ipod and songs in Itunes, but they are light grey and will not let me manipulate them at all. Also there seems to be a small black lock down where it displays the amount of space used and left. why???

"why would a group of friends all buy the same cd?"
So the artist and everyone else who contributed to the cd get paid, er...dude.
"some guy could just buy it once and give the songs to everybody to share it."
No 'some guy' couldn't. That's the illegal sharing of copyrighted material.
Learn some copyright facts before you post about sharing music, er...dude.

  • How can i put songs from my ipod into my itunes library?

I want to sort out all mu music on my ipod and start fresh, but i want to keep all my music. Is there a way of putting music from my ipod into my iTunes library? I understand that if there is music on my ipod then i mustve put it on there from the library but i dont think i did! It's just not there! all i need to do is transfer it from my ipod to my itunes library Pls help. Ta.

iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
With your iPod connected, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPod.
If you had Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPod sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading a song from the iTunes store direct with your iPod, the song would be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPod with iTunes after doing so.
Manually managing music and videos is manual all the way.

I have the same problem with mine... but im trying to find a way to fix it without restoring it...
but one fix is to shut it down completely ... then press and hold BOTH the power button and the home button .. hold both of those 4 ten seconds .. then release the power button but still hold down the home button .. and then it'll show something that says "connect to itunes" once u get it connected to itunes , click the restore button ... BEWARE THIS WILL WIPE OUT EVERYTHING ON YOUR IPOD!!! IT WILL RESTORE IT BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS , AS IF U JUST BOUGHT IT !!!!! then it should work fine again .. but u will lose all data on there besides the things you have synced with itunes already..
Thats y im iffy with doing this , im trying to find a fix where i wont have 2 restore it but i dont think there is 1 :'(
    good luck tho

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:

    - If you are in the USA you can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - To transfer other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

How do i get the music from my click wheel ipod into my itunes library.

You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store. However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library.

  • Transferring music from your iPod to your iTunes programme

Is there anyway you can put the music you have on your iPod back onto your iTunes. I recently had to get my hard-drive replaced in my iMac and i was told i could put my music back on my library by pulling my iPod in but it's only asking me to transfer the stuff i purchased on iTunes. I don;t want to sync it until i definitely know it will get all the music off my iPod into the iTunes library.
    Thanks

  • Downloading music from your ipod to your itunes library

does anyone know if you can download music you have on your ipod to your itunes library

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod to iTunes.

  • When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen?

When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen? How do i get past it?

I seem to recall that this may be cause by overloading the USB bus (lack of power to go around).  Shut down your computer.  Reset the iPod shuffle using this procedure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Disconnect ALL peripheral USB devices, including keyboard and mouse.  Power up the computer.  If you need your mouse, connect it and launch iTunes.  Connect the iPod shuffle to a direct USB port and try the sync again.  See if there is any difference.

  • Is it possible to find the serial of the last connected device (iPod Nano) in itunes?

Is it possible to find the serial of the last connected device (iPod Nano) in itunes? Was stolen, trying to get info on my device.

iTunes will only show the serial number for iOS devices backed up using iTunes (and the iPod nano is not an iOS device). For alternative ways to find the serial number, see:
    On your iPod packaging
If you still have the original packaging for your iPod, you can find your serial number on the barcode label that's affixed to the packaging.
On your iPod invoice or receipt
Some retailers may include the serial number of your iPod on the receipt.
    Online at My Support Profile
If you used your Apple ID to register or purchase your iPod, you may find the serial number listed in My Support Profile (available in the United States and Canada). Log in with your Apple ID and find your iPod in the My Products box on the main page:
From iPod: How to find the serial number.
