Connecting Another Ipod to My Itunes

I have connected a friends Ipod to my itunes, and it shows the ipod and songs in Itunes, but they are light grey and will not let me manipulate them at all. Also there seems to be a small black lock down where it displays the amount of space used and left. why???

"why would a group of friends all buy the same cd?"
So the artist and everyone else who contributed to the cd get paid, er...dude.
"some guy could just buy it once and give the songs to everybody to share it."
No 'some guy' couldn't. That's the illegal sharing of copyrighted material.
Learn some copyright facts before you post about sharing music, er...dude.

  • Connecting another ipod into your itunes

I have the newest itunes and an 80gb video. My mom has the last itunes and a 20gb colour. She wants to put some of my music on her ipod. I know one of my friends put her ipod into her sister's computer and lost all of her music. Mine isn't backed up so I was wondering if I just plug hers into my computer and add songs or if there's a setting that I have to choose...

Before you do anything, make certain that you have your iTunes library backed up. It would be no fun to loose everything and not have a backup.
What your Mom needs to do is get the songs from your iTunes library onto her iTunes library and then update her iPod from her computer. Otherwise, if you plug her iPod into your computer she may lose all of her songs and wind up with a duplicate of what you have on your iPod.
Do it the safe way. Have her update from her computer.

I have the same problem with mine... but im trying to find a way to fix it without restoring it...
but one fix is to shut it down completely ... then press and hold BOTH the power button and the home button .. hold both of those 4 ten seconds .. then release the power button but still hold down the home button .. and then it'll show something that says "connect to itunes" once u get it connected to itunes , click the restore button ... BEWARE THIS WILL WIPE OUT EVERYTHING ON YOUR IPOD!!! IT WILL RESTORE IT BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS , AS IF U JUST BOUGHT IT !!!!! then it should work fine again .. but u will lose all data on there besides the things you have synced with itunes already..
Thats y im iffy with doing this , im trying to find a fix where i wont have 2 restore it but i dont think there is 1 :'(
    good luck tho

  • When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen?

When i connect my ipod shuffle to itunes i get an error message the ipod cannot be synced, the required disk cannot be found  anyone have this happen? How do i get past it?

I seem to recall that this may be cause by overloading the USB bus (lack of power to go around).  Shut down your computer.  Reset the iPod shuffle using this procedure.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Disconnect ALL peripheral USB devices, including keyboard and mouse.  Power up the computer.  If you need your mouse, connect it and launch iTunes.  Connect the iPod shuffle to a direct USB port and try the sync again.  See if there is any difference.

  • Is it possible to find the serial of the last connected device (iPod Nano) in itunes?

Is it possible to find the serial of the last connected device (iPod Nano) in itunes? Was stolen, trying to get info on my device.

iTunes will only show the serial number for iOS devices backed up using iTunes (and the iPod nano is not an iOS device). For alternative ways to find the serial number, see:
    On your iPod packaging
If you still have the original packaging for your iPod, you can find your serial number on the barcode label that's affixed to the packaging.
On your iPod invoice or receipt
Some retailers may include the serial number of your iPod on the receipt.
    Online at My Support Profile
If you used your Apple ID to register or purchase your iPod, you may find the serial number listed in My Support Profile (available in the United States and Canada). Log in with your Apple ID and find your iPod in the My Products box on the main page:
From iPod: How to find the serial number.

  • Can I connect another ipod to my current itunes without...

Ok..i already have an ipod but now my friend has one and i want to let her use my computer but im afaid that if i connect her ipod to my current itunes that i have on here already it will erase all my songs that i have on it and on my ipod..can i do that without messing up my ipod and itunes?

If you are using a Windows pc, all you need to do is set up a user account for your friend. Go to the Control Panel, then User Account, and then click on Create a New Account. After you set up the account, your friend would then be able to set up her own library in itunes. Click the start button, then Switch user. It is simple to do. Hope this helps.

  • Connecting Another iPod to an Already Existing iTunes Library

I have the 60GB iPod with all of my music/movies, etc.
My niece has the 2GB iPod Nano and wanted me to add some music to it so I've connected it to my PC.
1.) Can I add music to her Nano without disrupting my exisiting Library/iPod?
2.) She appears to have music on the Nano if I connect it to my PC and go into My Computer but on the iPod Nano itself it only displays ONE ALBUM (It's B5...how tragic!).
    Help us!!!

Sharing your music, etc. with your Niece's iPod should not alter your playlists on your computer or your iPod at all. To manually select the songs to sync with her iPod, select the "manually manage music" option if you are using iTunes 7.0.X. If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, select the option to "enable disk usage" or something similar (I can't remember exactly how it's worded since I have upgraded to version 7). If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, you might connect your iPod to your computer first and select the "reset ignored warnings" button under iPod prefrences in iTunes before connecting your Niece's iPod so that her existing songs and playlists will not be overwritten by yours. I hope this helps.
