Connecting Apple TV to new computer

Getting new computer; need to transfer Apple TV to new machine.  Is this hard to do?

Which AppleTv - grey ATV1 or black ATV2/3?
Simple for ATv2/3 as you just need to configure Home Sharing in itunes plus any photo sharing options.
With AppleTV1 if you have content on it you cannot use AppleTv as a backup to get it into a new itunes library unless it's a new purchase never transferred to itunes.

I would like to transfer the music that is already on my iPod touch to a new computer.  At present, my iPod touch is not recognised on the new computer.
It doesn't quite work that way. Transfer your music from the old computer to the new one. Then, sync the iPod.

  • Black Berry connection manager on a new computer

Hey, I have a user who is switching laptops tomorrow. He has BBC installed on his current PC and is afraid when he installs the connection manager on the new PC and syncs his phone he may get duplicate messages or his messages may be marked as "new" when they are not. Does anyone know the correct procedure for setting up BBC on a new PC and syncing contacts so that these issues do not arrise?
Any help would be good. If anyone has done this process and did not have the above outcome please let me know.

Hey, I had this same problem. The problem is caused by your computer time and date being off from the actual time and date. There is a very simple solution. Check your date and time on your computer. If it is incorrect change it back to the right time. Make sure the month and year are correct too. That should fix it.

  • Connecting old iPod to new computer

My previous computer was ruined by a power surge and it wasn't fixable. I no longer have it but I have my iPod with 5000+ songs on it (200+ I downloaded off iTunes). I don't want to lose whats on my iPod but I have a new computer and want to hook up to it and start downloading and managing my iPod again. Do I have any options?

If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. If it is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing Your Songs Manually
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer.
If you want to copy your songs from your iPod there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
There's a command in iTunes 7 under File, "Transfer Purchases from iPod" you can check out. A paragraph on it has also been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

  • Connecting ipod to a new computer

My laptop just quit working on me and I really don't want to have to add all my songs into this new computer. If I just hooked up my iPod to this new computer will all my songs show up in my new iTunes Library?

  • How to connect Apple TV with my computer

Having the same apple account on both, the TV does not show the files from the computer.
Question: the computer is connected to the internet through WIFI, the apple TV is connected with a cable. Do I have to connect both the same way, either WIFI or cable ?!
Thank you for your help already in advance.
    best regards,
    Atze

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The devices can be connected by any type of network, including mixed networks such as you describe. The first thing to check would be that both devices are on the same subnetwork though. check their addresses they should have different last parts to the address but the first three parts should be the same. (ie 192.168.1.x)

  • Connecting locked ipod to new computer

I have a 2nd generation ipod touch that is locked and the screen say connect to itunes. When I connect to my mac, itunes doesn't recognize the ipod because this computer is not the original computer that it was synced to. How can I reset the ipod and the passcode?

    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • How to connect apple tv directly to computer using ethernet

ok so im trying to figure out a way to plug in the Apple TV directly to my computers Ethernet port for direct streaming.  I am not allowed to use a router(College) so the only way i can possibly hook the Apple tv is directly through my computer ethernet.  My desktop has wireless so i dont need the port for internet.  I understand i wont have access to youtube or other internet content..thats fine.  Streaming is more important to me then that stuff.
I have a PC desktop.  Any and all advice would be helpful.  Im assuming there is some setting on the desktop in order for me to tell the computer that the ethernet port is for streaming.
    Thanks,

Just use a switch or hub
