Connecting atv2 to a homecinema receiver

I intend buy a atv2, is it possible to connect this to a homecinema Receiver Pioneer VSX AX4AS, the receiver  supports theHDMI standard Version 1.2

In theory yes.
AppleTVs have always been a bit fussy about HDMI, but provided it supports HDCP it should be OK.
Alternatively the option is to hook it up to TV direct via HDMI and optical to reciever for audio.

  • Connect Apple TV 2 to Receiver

    Hi
I have not bought Apple TV jet, but i'm thinking of doing it, but i do not know if i will be able to connect it to my sony receiver called: Sony STR-de495P
Here you see a photo of the receiver from behind:
So my question is, will I be able to connect Apple TV 2 to this, and how can I do it?
    Best Regards
    Emil

The ATV2 only has HDMI out for video.  There's an optical out for audio too, but I don't know much about it.
If you only have RCA-in, you're out of luck for direct use, or you'll need to spend some extra dosh on a converter.
In my case, my TV has HDMI-in and a headphone out, so I just put a mini-stereo-to-RCA cable in place and I'm happy.  YMMV depending on how "central" your receiver is to your setup.

  • Any benefit of using toslink as well as HDMI to connect ATV2 to a TV?

If you connect ATV2 directly to a TV using HDMI, does connecting the Toslink interface to the TV provide any benefits in terms of audio quality, additional Dolby etc or would this be a waste of money?

Indirectly. Because HDMI audio capabilities are a superset of optical/coaxial digital output (S/PDIF), it follows that HDMI can "do them all", too. My point was, if anything, optical would be a potential downgrade compared to HDMI, because optical has less bandwidth. However, it doesn't matter for the Apple TV, which doesn't support anything optical can't carry. In particular, you wouldn't lose anything running HDMI to your TV and optical to a receiver for audio, if you had a receiver that didn't support HDMI.

  • My aluminum remote for Apple TV no longer seems to connect to the Apple TV receiver; I've changed the battery, but w/o success

My aluminum remote does not appear to connect with the Apple TV receiver; I've changed the battery.  I can turn on the Apple TV and the opening screen comes up, but the remote doesn't seem to connect...no cursor or movement on the Apple TV screen occurs.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen.

  • Connecting Mac Mini to AV Receiver

I thought this would be simple. I purchased a Mac Mini today with the thought of connecting it through my AV receiver to my LG tv. Here's what I did:
    1) brought it home from the store
    2) plugged an HDMI cable into the Mac Mini, and the other end into my receiver (Yamaha RX-V3800)
    3) there is another HDMI cable that goes from my receiver to my LG tv (LG Infinia 50PK950)
    4) turned everything on, turned the receiver to the correct input that I plugged the Mac Mini HDMI cable into...
    ... and I get nothing.
The Mac Mini is on, the blue light is on.
Do I need to perform some sort of set up on the mini before I can connect it to my tv to use the tv as a monitor?
Did I connect the wrong HDMI cable?
    Is it not compatible?
I thought it would be an easy connection if I went Mac Mini > HDMI > Yamaha AV Receiver > HDMI > LG Infinia 50PK950 TV.
    Any help?

Yup - tried connecting it through 2 different HDMI inputs on the tv, and tried different HDMI cables in case that was the problem. All I'm getting is "No Signal" on the tv.
I can run a PS3 through my receiver via HDMI and to the tv and it works fine.
I think the first step at this point is to verify that the actual mini is working since I just pulled it out of the box and connected it. The blue light is on and it sounds like it is on but I haven't been able to see it on any monitor or tv.
Should I be able to just connect straight from the mini to a tv using an HDMI cable? I don't have a mouse or keyboard plugged in either, I only have the wireless apple ones.

  • How to connect grace digital wifi radio receiver to airport express.

    Hi,
I need to connect grace digital wifi radio receiver to airport express. The receiver works fine with belkin n150, however when connected to express as primary base station ( belkin switch off), it displays
    "Default gateway.......
Port 80 not found. not connected"
The conneted type is dynamic wifi network (POE + ). The express is set in bridge mode and configured through ipad.

    Hi,
Called up the apple support services on Dec 9, 2013 and was on line for almost 1 hour without a solution. However, received a call back from team in Singapore on the same day and commitment to revert on the issue within 24 hrs. Received a call within 24 hrs and the entire discussion came down to the point that I have to manually set the grace digital equipment.
I tried other options and eventually the simplest thing to do was to set the connection option to DHCP only and ignore the error.
    Now its working fine..

  • No picture using component connections with Sony STR-DG710 Receiver

I have been unable to get a picture (sound appears to be ok) using component cables to connect to a Sony 710 receiver - the (2) HDMI inputs on the receiver are taken by equipment that can not use component cables. Apple Store checked Apple TV unit and said component outlets were ok. I did barrow one of the HDMI cables to set the system up (1080i resolution was selected). Does anyone have an idea what the problem is?

There may be an easy answer here. It's your receiver - not the apple TV
1080p HDMI Inputs: The Sony receiver features two 1080p HDMI inputs and one 1080p HDMI output. The receiver transmits both audio and video through the HDMI monitor output to your TV or you can choose for the HDMI monitor out terminal to only output video to your television. Video signal that is input through HDMI input can only be output through the HDMI monitor output terminal.
Note: The receiver does not offer video upconversion.
So it looks like if you go HDMI in - you have to go HDMI out (to your TV)
If you go component in - you need to go component out (to your TV)

  • When I try to connect to a link I receive the message "Search bookmarks and history" and FF won't connect to the link requested

When I try to connect to a link I receive the message "Search bookmarks and history" and FF won't connect to the link requested. VER FF 3.6.6. Windows7; 64 bit.

I have currently FF 3.6.8 running under Windows XP 32 bit. I am using Multiproxy Switch ver 1.33 add-on to switch between multiple proxies.
My FF starting page is http://www.google.com/ncr . When I start Firefox and the actually configured proxy is unreachable, I get the usual message that the page cannot be opened ("Try again"). Then I switch to another proxy or to direct connection. Normally the desired page (google) opens. But in case I switch the proxy before the error message appears, this grayed message "Search Bookmarks and History" appears instead of the URL in the URL input field and I have to retype the URL.
Remark: I would really like to have this function "Searching Bookmarks and History" available in Firefox, because I often do this kind of search and need 4 clicks to get there (Bookmarks-Organize Bookmarks-Bookmarks Menu-and then input my search criteria).

  • Problems with connecting Xfi to a AV-receiver via digital

    Hello!
I have serious problems connecting my Soundblaster XFi Xtreme Music to my Harman/Kardon AVR 2000 (AV-Recei'ver), supporting dolby digital and DTS. As the receiver cannot be connected via the 3 other outputs of the XFi (front/rear/center) I do have to connect it via the digital out. Before I bought the XFi I used my onboard-sound, connected to the receiver via optical cable, and everything was doing fine.
For there is no optical out on the XFi I tried to link the digital out of the XFi with the coax-digital-in of my receiver, using a normal coax-cable. Indeed, a sound-signale is transmitted, but as I'm testing my surround speakers, the allocation of the speakers is not correct and the receiver does not work in dolby-digital or DTS mode.
So how do I have to connect both parts, having the receiver get a correct digital signale?
Do I have to use a special cable that deli'vers the correct digital signale?
I have already callen the Creative support hotline, but also got no acceptable answer.
I hope, somebody can help me !

    http://creative.com/products/product...y=6&product=49
that product should work for you and me. this is the issue i had......
i'm working on this issue myself as i have an elite pro and it has digital outputs but as we are alll finding out unless its a dts stream like a dvd encoded with it, the digital outputs will not pass 5. audio correctly. i have a harman dpr 2005 i just picked up. when i play games its useless because creatives digital outputs will only stream stereo. and now i have no way to connect the regular analog outputs to my receiver.
this just flat out sux. apparently with computer audio you will read in the links below there is no product that will encode audio other then the soundstorm which is now a dead product into more then 2 channel audio via a digital cable whether coax or fiber. but basically the breakout box posted above will do the same thing the soundstorm does, it just does it at the analog output so you will get a slight loss in quality but will it even be audible. i doubt much at all. its just the best we will get for another year or two.

  • Connecting iTunes/Macmini to stereo receiver using cable

I was wondering if anyone had experience connecting their computer to stereo receiver using cable of medium length (30 - 40 feet). I have Airport Express, but want to circumvent the conversion of aiff files to Apple Lossless that seems to be hard-wired into Airtunes.
    macmini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes you can hook up your mini to your stereo using the combined optical digital audio output/headphone out (minijack). On my Powerbook, I have used both my headphone jack and an iMic to connect to my A/V receiver. Remember, with an analog signal, the longer and/or thinner the cable, the more degradation you will get, but only your ears can tell you if you can hear the difference caused by that degradation on your system.

  • How to connect my iMac to AV receiver?

I want to watch movies on my iMac but use Cambridge audio Aero 5.1 speakers through AV receiver Cambridge Audio Azur 751R. How do I connect my Mac to the av receiver? What cables/connectors do I need?
    thank you for your help!

To do this the right way, get an AppleTV ($59 refurbished from Apple's online store), set up the AppleTV and  connect it to the AppleTV's Optical out to the Receiver & HDMI out to your TV. Then set up Home Sharing in iTunes on your iMac and finally wireless stream movies to the big screen TV from the AppleTV. Anything else is a kluge and won't work as well as  you would like. If you have a 2011 or later iMac  you can also use the AppleTV to mirror the iMac's content to the BigScreen TV.

  • TS1843 Not receiving apple mail.  Connection Doctor says not connected to server.  Yet receiving gmail and yahoo mail.

Not receiving apple mail.  Checked connection Doctor.  Not connected to server, yet receiving gmail and yahoo mail.

No, I have a Mac and my email connects via our pacbell account we've had for years.  However, something in the Preferences/Accounts is not correct I am guessing.  Also, it asks for the password and if I put it in and click save through general or viewing, it's NOT saving it and still not allowing me to get email. My husband tried reading about this through our AT&T acct and said to change the incoming server to imap.mail.yahoo.com and outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo;[email protected], but now I can't receive or send any email on my Mac. In advanced not sure if it should be Port of 465 or 900 something or other and SSL checked or not.  I called AT&T and they want to take over my machine by charging $15/mos for a year to fix this.  Ridiculous.
So, everytime prior to yesterday, when my husband messed around with it, I was getting a POP needs password box, typed in my password, but to no avail..Then it Keychain password popped up and assumed it was the same, but there's no way to change or modify it even using the new password my husband set up through AT&T.  I am at a complete loss.
I can access mail through yahoo mail and it takes me to AT&T Yahoo Mail, but no contacts are there so needless to say this is a pain.
I appreciate any assistance you can give me so I can get back on my email as I have for 4 years.
Thanks Hackintosh...I look forward to hearing from you....you can use the email above and it will come to me through my yahoo web page....Thanks again and let me know if you need any other information.  If you respond on here, I may not get the answer from you as I didn't know you responded until I came on discussions.  THanks
