Connecting Cambridge Soundworks speakers to a new Dell 4700
New system: Dell 4700. Soundcard is a Soundblaster Live! 24 bit. Stereo outputs are confirmed to work because my headphones pick up sound (in the headphone jack, as well as the stereo outputs). Creative audio software.
Old speakers: Cambridge Soundworks, 2 small cube speakers and a subwoofer with a dedicated power supply. About 3 years old. System worked like a charm (and still does) in my old computer.
My new computer sound outputs are just fine. My old speakers work fine. But the two together aren't working. I've been troubleshooting all evening. Dell tech support was also clueless. Anyone able to offer some advice from the audio side of things?
Thanks!
Bmsavage,
There are a couple things to check. First off make sure any headphones in the front of the computer are unplugged (this can disable the rear outputs).
Now try connecting like this:
1) Connect the speaker side of your volume control to the line in on the subwoofer.
2) Connect the source side of your volume control to the Green Jack on the Live! 24bit
3) Insure that the volume on the control is turned up and the speakers are powered up and test sound

HP c309a printing blank pages from new Dell Win8 laptop
I have a c309a installed on the network via LAN to the router. It works fine with Win-Vista and Win-7 computers wired and wirelessly connected to the network.
A new Dell laptop with Win-8 is connecting to printer, but nothing but blank pages comes out of the printer - even when trying to print a test page from Printer Properties in Windows.
I have tried to istall the complete HP printer software from the HP website, also via HP Print and Scan Doctor, which din in fact install on the laptop, as well as from the disc that came with the printer - but in vain. I have downdoaded the software repeatedly. It runs the file extraction, but nothing happens when done. Not even an error message. When attempting to run setup.exe from the disc, nothing happens either. The disc runs for little while, then stops. No error massage in this case either.
I have removed the free McAfee security program that came with the laptop, in the hope that it was terminating the installation, but to no avail.
Please help!Hi viben,
I understand you are having issues installing the HP software on your new Dell with Windows 8, and that you can not print from the windows 8 machine as you get only blank pages. Please try the following steps and let me know how it works out.

Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
Open folder Util
Open folder CCC
If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have anon-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
In the Open box, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK.

CUDA GPU Acceleration not working on Dell 4700 K2000M
Hello,
I have a new Dell 4700 laptop that was outfitted with the NVIDIA Quadro K2000M and my CS6 Premiere Pro does not allow me to choose GPU Acceleration as the option is grayed out for new files. I searched the web and tried several things suggested such as turning OPTIMUS off in the laptop BIOS, uploading the latest drivers for the NVIDIA card and still the Premeire Pro refuses to allow hardware acceleration.
Am I missing something? I really want this to work. Please help!!
Thanks,

Cambridge Soundworks computer speakers
PS1600 4-point surround sound speakers + sub-woofer - Cambridge Soundworks
My computer speakers have given up the ghost. I am certain it is the switch as when you adjust it the sound sometimes comes and goes in a rather distorted way. I have taken it apart and checked the connections and cleaned it out but to no avail. Anyone know where I can get one of these switches as it seems to be a discontinued product, bought 5 years ago.A PM is a private message, it means he has sent you a message directly. When I launch iTunes on the PC, iTunes will not connect to Airplay speakers. Only after a new start of iTunes a connection is established.
Thank you for the suggestion, but the 'clean' install of iTunes (which I did twice) didn't do the trick.
Anybody else have a clue?
I spoke with Apple Care, who was also stumped. They think it might be a hardware issue (but were probably just giving up on working with me because it was free service/I haven't paid the $50). Still seems awfully coincidental that my Airport (1st Gen - about 4 years old) would stop being able to stream music through iTunes simultaneously with the iTunes update... -
w/ this latest version, getting MANY "the connection was reset" pages, plus VERY VERY VERY slow loading. I'm running Windows 7 on a new Dell. What is up w/ that?
I don't know how else to phrase that. I'm a pretty good user, but after defragging, backing up, and getting rid of a bunch of files that "may" slow down performance of firefox, the fact is, "the connection was reset" comes up five or six times a day--AND the browser is going slow as molasses. I haven't had this much trouble since before I got my new dell.hello whatagem123, it is never a good idea to stick with outdated versions of firefox just for the sake of addons, as this will put the integrity of your system and your the personal data on it at risk - there are various [https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html known security vulnerabilities (some of them highly critical)] that were fixed in later versions!
so please [[Update Firefox to the latest version]] & [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ update your plugins] (your java plugin has security vulnerabilities that are actively and widely exploited on the web).
afterwards i'd recommend resetting firefox - this will keep your bookmarks and passwords but will get rid of most other customizations. this might well fix both the issues you've described in your question...

Hi there,
recently I purchased a new mainboard (ASUS Sabertooth X58, http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...th_X58.pdfwith an internal soundchip ALC892 from Realtek. This mainbard has an internal S/PDIF-Connector which I connected to a coax cable for fitting the Dolby Digital AC-3 S/PDIF input of the Creative Cambridge SoundWorks DeskTop Theater 5.1 (model CSW3000, 998, http://download.cambridgesoundworks....nuals/DTT5.pdf
As the SoundWorks has an internal Dolby decoder working it seems to be somewhat difficult to get the noise going. Simply connecting the cable does not work, neither tuning the Realtek sound driver. It seems that the Realtek driver is missing an option to stream directly to the DTT5.1.
Is there any possibility to get the combination working?
Best regards, Ingo WolfmllerI installed my old Audigy 2 and connected the Speakers. The digital output of that soundcard works. So the speakers are alright. But the AC-3 stream e.g. coming from an DVD delivers a steady crunching/crashing sound. Maybe a configuration problem although I fixed the output to Dolby Digital an 48 kHz.
The internal Realtek still delivers nothing. -
New Dell Monitor with built in Webcam
I just got the new Dell monitor (SP2008WFP) that has the built in web cam. Everything works great with iChat in that I can see and hear the other person perfectly. However, they report that they hear a lot of echo which does not seem to disappear no matter what I do with input level or the output level. Either the microphone is very sensitive or the drivers for this webcam are not really perfected yet.
I have it set up on a Mac Pro with the output coming out of the digital output through speakers, and the input as the webcam microphone.
Any ideas anyone?
(For what its worth the monitor does seem to basically work for all those that were looking into getting one - I know I couldn't find anything on the web to confirm that it even worked)Ralph,
Thanks for the response, you are quite a trooper on this forum!
I had my quicktime speed set for Cable (1Mbps) since that is what I have. On your suggestion I upped it to 1.5Mbps and in the video preview window it looks like the audio response from the mic is a little more 'snappy'. I will need to connect with someone to determine if this has really occurred though and I'll get back to you. Hopefully I made it clear before, but I am experiencing this delay in response even when I am not connected to anyone (just using the preview window in iChat), its almost like there is a delay in the mic picking up sound. I'd be surprised if changing the quicktime bandwidth helped, but I have to confess it does look better, so I have to give you credit.
Even though this monitor is a Dell, I really want it to work as I have been looking for an integrated solution for the Mac Pro for some time and Apple just doesn't appear to be coming out with it. The video is great, but the echo is very annoying. Hopefully if the delay is eliminated then the iChat software will do a better job of filtering out the echo. I'm not sure if I mentioned it in the first post but the echo only appears on the other end of the iChat, everything on my end is perfect, no echo at all. However, the only new component in the mix from previous iChats is my new Dell monitor.
Thanks again for your help, I'll post back if this works.

5.1 with X-Fi and older Cambridge Soundworks speake
I have an older Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Theater 5. DTT2500 Digital speaker system, and I just bought a SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer card for my Vista (32bit) computer.
The speaker system has four inputs:
Line In
Rear In
Dolby Digital (AC-3) S/PDIF
Digital DIN
I currently can only get 4. sound by using the two analog connections (Line and Rear). I used to have an Audigy NS, which was able to connect directly to the S/PDIF plug on my speaker system to provide 5. surround.
How can I connect my X-Fi's Digital Out flexijack to my speaker system's digital inputs so I can get full 5. surround?
Thanks for your time!I own those speakers and as someone else pointed out they're not true 5. speakers, they are only true for movies, not for games, even with the adapter, the center channel will not pick it up. I opted for another manufacturer speakers. When that came out, it was top of the line, high tech etc. But only really for movies, I have it hooked up to my DVD player now and that's all it's good for. And when I had it hooked up to my computer all I was ever able to get out of it was 4. with the spdf adapter and connection.

SB Live! 5.1 Digital card and Creative Cambridge Soundworks 200 Speak
I have a SB Li've! 5. Digital card and a set of Creative Cambridge Soundworks 200 Speakers. The speakers consist of 4 satelites and sub woofer. My audio has been working flawlessly for several years until this weekend when I decided to reformat my dri've and re-install Windows XP Pro. I downloaded the dell drivers (card is from dell) and installed them and then installed the updates for them from this web site. The problem I'm having (before and after applying the upfate) is that only two of the satelites emit sound! Furthermore when I run the creative diagnostic test app (all tests pass) and run the "Test Speakers", the rear left spkr is identified properly; and the right front spkr is identified as rear right and no speakers are identified as front.
My physical h/w configuration has not been touched during the re-install of windows.
Any suggestions for getting my audio system working properly again?
Thanks,

I just opened my system and looked at the card. It has the following identification on it:
. SB Li've!
2. Model SB0200
3. Serial Number: MSB020032052655
So perhaps it is not an SB Li've 5. Digital as I previously thought; regardless I'm still having the same problems. When I downloaded and tried to install the SBLi've! drivers indicated from http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=&sOSName=Windows+XP®i on=&Product_Name=Li've%2&Product_ID=4857&model number=&driverlang=033&OS=0&drivertype=0&x=24&y=5
I received an error message that no soundblaster card could be found.
When I searched for drivers by model (sb0200), the website said said, "no such drivers".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Looks good.
1. Watch out for the McAfee Live Safe Premiere Elements problems if that McAfee is the antivirus program.
2. I am using Intel HD Graphics for the computer video card/graphic card and have not had problem with it.
3. Does it come with an extra bay in which to install an internal Blu-ray DVD burner if it does not come with that
type of burner at purchase? Whatever burner you have determine at the onset if Premiere Elements recognizes
your burn in its burn dialog Burner Location field. And, check burn dialog Status to make sure you are getting the
Ready message when the disc is inserted into the burner tray and not "Media Not Preset".
4. If any preinstalled software try to get installation files and serial number if possible.
