Connecting Canon MG5350 to MacBook with WLAN

Hello!
I just bought a Canon MG5350 and I tried to connect it with my MacBook which runs in iOS 10.6.8, using the wireless network. During the last step of the instalation, I am getting the message: no printer is dectetable. I checked the WLAN settings on both the printer and the Mac and they share the same Gateway and Subnet Mask. On top of that the printer is perfectly dectable from the System Preferences Menu (Print&Fax). I cannot understand what I am doing wrong.
Any suggestions?
I am really thankful in advance!
PS: I will buy a USB cable tomorrow (I just realized that I have no USB cables at home anymore) and try to connect it like that. It is a pity though not to use the wireless connection.

You need to get a 9-pin to 4-pin FireWire cable.

  • Connecting Z-5500 to MacBook with Optical Cable?

How's it going, first post here just need one question answered. I just got Logitech's Z-5500 for Christmas, and everything is set-up working great with just using the headphone jack. All speakers are working when in Stereo (x2) mode, but I would like to connect the system to my Macbook using the an optical cable since you get a cleaner, better quality of sound.
I don't know anything about optical cables or how to connect it to my Macbook. I know the optical side of the cord goes in the back of the control panel for the Z-5500's but where does the other side go into the Macbook? Do I just need one cable? Any detailed help with links will help. Thanks a lot.

    Picked this up.

  • Connecting Canon XHA1 to MacBook Pro

I need to connect and import video from my canon XHA1, but I cannot find an easy setup in the manual that will allow FCE to communicate with my camera. When I control the camera on its own I don't get anything on the computer either.
    the FCE manual says
    +There are+
+two kinds of FireWire 400 connectors: a 4-pin connector (typically used to connect to+
+video equipment such as camcorders or decks) and a 6-pin connector (used to connect+
    +to computer equipment).+
The MacBook that I'm using has a firewire port that is 9 pin??? is this the problem?

You need to get a 9-pin to 4-pin FireWire cable.

  • How to connect Powerbook 1400 to macbook with Gigabit ethernet

I have a wonderful Powerbook 1400, system 8.6, no cd drive only floppies 2 PCMCIA card slots (which may be both not working, a SCSI HDI-30 ethernet slot.
How can I recover the date on this computer, as i just realised after buying a new Macbook dual core that it has a Gigbit ethernet which is a different slot.
    Can anyone help?
    thanks, Maria

    Maria,
I also still have my 1400; it's in beautiful shape but I never use it anymore.
Since the 1400 did not come with Ethernet or modem, you had to add them via a PCMCIA PC card or install internally an Ethernet card (no internal modem card). I believe there is also a SCSI > Ethernet adapter but this is all more work than necessary. None of the ports on the 1400 are compatible with the MacBook.
I think by far the easiest method for retrieving data is to buy a PC Card Adapter (this fits into the PCMCIA card slot) for $10, then buy a small flash memory card. After you put the memory card in the PC Card Adapter and the Adapter into the card slot, the flash memory card mounts on the desktop as just another "HD" and you drag-copy the files to the "HD". There is no software to install.

However, you will also need a USB card reader for the MacBook. Possibly you know someone with a card reader and they could burn a CD for you.
You could also use your 1400's floppy drive to copy data, then buy a USB floppy drive for your MacBook, but if you have a lot of files, this is cumbersome.
You can buy a used Ethernet PC card but you require the correct Ethernet software plus it may be difficult to get file sharing working with the MacBook, not because your MacBook has Gigabit, but OS 8.6 and Tiger have a difficult time talking to each other.

  • Connecting iPhone 3G to Macbook with dead battery

Battery died. Using Magcord for now. iPhone won't connect to download music.
Is a new battery necessary to do that??

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I doubt that's the problem. The 3G has these requirements:
    ◦iTunes 7.7 or later
10.4.11 should work with it as long as you have a current iTunes supported by 10.4.11.

With out port 1394 and PCMCIA! That's very bad.
perevise model of macbook has all this kind of hi speed port.
Why This model has not at least 1 port?
What is your suggest for Hi speed transfer?

The new MacBook doesn't have FireWire, only USB. If your camera doesn't have a USB port then you will need to buy a new camera model. Most new ones all support USB 2.0 instead of or in addition to FireWire.
If you needed FireWire support for the camera then you should have purchased the MacBook Pro or the White MacBook model which does have FireWire.
Intel Macs have never had a PCMCIA port.

  • How to connect Canon MP470 with USR5461 Print Server on Leopard 10.5

The main problem I had with adding this printer is that the drivers from Canon's website do not work. Do not download and use the CUPS driver provided from Canon.
You need to use this driver which should be included on your MacBook: Canon PIXMA MP150 - Gutenprint v5.1.3
    Here are the steps:
    1) Go to System Preferences
    2) Click on Print & Fax
    3) Hold down alt/option next to control and click the + sign to add a printer.
    4) Select advanced from the tabs above. Note: If you do not see an advanced icon on the top toolbar, right click and click customize toolbar to add the advanced button (the fact that you have to do that is weird to me).
    5) Wait for a little while when you enter into advanced and it will eventually give you a list of printing protocol types. Select the drop down labelled types and select Internet Printing Protocol (http)
    6) Enter the URI http://192.168.2.1:1631/printers/My_Printer
    7) If you changed your router address replace 192.168.2.1 with whatever address you use to access your router's settings page.
    8) Select the driver Canon PIXMA MP150 - Gutenprint v5.1.3
    9) You may enter the location of your printer if you want i.e. Brad's Room or where ever your printer is located.
    10) Click add printer.
    11) You should be back to the Printer & Fax screen. Double click the newly added printer on the list to your left. That will open the printer queue.
    12) Then select Printer from the system menu on top and select print test page.
    13) Make sure your printer is on and everything is connected.
    14) Happy printing.

Actually there is a better way. I had been having problems on my new Macbook with OSX 10.5 but not on my Mac Mini running OSX 10.4. After doing some searching I figured out that it had something to do with the way 10.5 handles CUPS whatever that is. After sitting on hold with Apple forever they blamed it on USR even though my other Mac running 10.4 and my Windows machines all work fine.
Since Apple refuses to admit it is there problem here is the work around I came up with. It is a two parter. Before you start make sure your printer driver is installed just like you would if your printer was connect directly to your Mac.
    First Part
    1) Open the "printer and fax" control panel
    2) Delete the old printer set up through the USR5461
    3) Click the "+" sign to add a new printer
    4) Here is the tricky part apple doesn't tell you. You need to go into "advanced set up but there is no obvious way to do that. Right click on the blank spot next to more printers and select "customize tool bar".
    5) Click and drag the sprocket called "Advanced" to the tool bar"
    6) Then click the "advanced" icon in the tool bar.
    7) Give it a few seconds before clicking anything. Then in the "type" drop down menu choose "internet printing protocol (http)"
    8) Enter the IP address of your printer (the default for the USR5461 is http://192.168.2.1:1631/printers/My_Printer)
    9) Name the printer and fill in the location field with whatever you like
    10) From the drop down menu choose "select a printer to use" and then find your printer driver.
    11) Then hit the "add" button at the bottom and you are done with the first part
    Second Part
    1) Use your browser to go to http://192.168.2.1/device.asp (this may require you to log into your USR5461)
    2) About halfway down you will see "Check the U.S. Robotics Web site for an update." and click the link
    3) The link takes you to a page where you have to select your device (USR5461 under "wireless")
    4) There you can find a "beta firmware update 3.93.35.0.9 (Jun 5 2008)", download that.
Then go back to http://192.168.2.1/device.asp and upload the firmware file and choose "ugrade"
    5) Once you do this it will take about 30-60 seconds for your USR5461 to come back online. Wait until it is completely rebooted and check the firmware to make sure the update is correct. If so you are done with the second part.
Now try printing. I hope this works for everyone.
Well, to get the Advanced tab choice, I had to customize the Add Printer toolbar: there you can add a handy Advanced button. Press that, and there you'll find the Tiger functionality hiding!

  • Canon ZR40 camcorder and a Macbook with the latest OS.

I have a Canon ZR40 and a Macbook with the latest OS.  My iMovie does not recognize the camcorder.  Can someone please give me step by step directions on what I should be doing?

    1. Turn on the camcorder and set it to VTR or VCR mode (this mode may have a different name on your
    camera).
    2. Connect the camcorder to your computer using a FireWire cable (the one that came with your
camcorder or any other FireWire cable).
    3. If this is the first time you’re importing from a device that records high-definition (HD) video, an HD
Import Setting dialog appears. Even if you aren’t importing HD video now, select Large or Full, and then
    click OK.
You can change this preference later if you do import HD video.
    4. If the Import window doesn’t open, choose File > “Import from Camera.”
    5. If you have multiple devices connected to your computer, choose the device you want to import from the
    Camera pop-up menu.
    6. Set the switch on the lower-left side of the window to one of the following:
Automatic: Automatically rewinds the tape, imports all of the tape contents, and rewinds the tape
    again.
Manual: Lets you rewind and fast-forward the tape so that you can import only the footage you want.
Use the controls to set your tape to the point where you want to begin importing.
    7. Click Import.
If you still can’t import video after checking the items above, try the following:
If iMovie doesn’t recognize your camcorder
Turn the camcorder off and on again.
Disconnect the cable from both the camcorder and the computer, and then reconnect it.
    Quit and then reopen iMovie.
    Restart your computer.
    Try using a different cable.
Try using a different computer with iMovie installed.

  • Print via Airprint with iPad 3 and Canon MG5350

    Hi,
I have a very common problem but none of the so far provided answers were suitable to help me. I use a new Canon MG5350 printer with WLAN and Airprint. The firmware has been updated to version 2 and nevertheless I cannot print via Airprint from my iPad 3 WiFi. My iPhone 4 finds the Canon printer without problems but the iPad keeps saying "No Airprint printers found".
Who can help? As I said, I have updated the printer's firmware.
    Cheers
    Frank

Hi Frank, I too have an MG5350 and ipad3 over wireless LAN. Printer is ace when used from my PC and laptop but got the same as you did trying to print from ipad. Tried Canon UK support but useless would be a compliment. Apple support in Cork suggested going to ipad settings, switch to airplane mode which stops wifi and then switch back again, wifi reconnnects and when I try and print, it finds the MG5350 and prints! Only one problem, leave it and come back after half hour and its back to "no airprint printers found" Doing the wifi on /off trick works everytime but have no answer as to why it is dropping it but still searching.
    Hope this helps a bit.

  • Issue with camera it says "there is no connected camera" in may macbook pro

issue with camera it says "there is no connected camera" in may macbook pro

I got that error from PhotoBooth, no connected camera.
After messing around with all the usual suggestions (reset PRAM, repair permissions, etc.), I tried plugging in an external USB camera (happened to be a ProScope) and - for no apparent reason - the internal iSight camera sprang to life and has been working fine ever since.
Worth a try - any USB camera should do it.

    Hi ChristianHelpplz,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
    Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
    Try a different USB port.
    Try a different USB cable.
    Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
    Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
    Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
    Check for an iTunes update.
    Check your security software
If you have security software installed, learn how to resolve issues between iTunes and your security software.
    From:
If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac - Apple Support
If you've tried these steps and your iPod touch is still not recognized, try placing it into Recovery Mode next:
