Connecting case headphone and mic sockets to X

I want to be able to connect my PC cases headphone and microphone sockets to my X-Fi (XtremeMusic). I can't use the dri've bay expansion box thing because I have a door on my case, and it's too expensi've anyway.
The AD_EXT connection on the card has many pins. Would I be able to just connect up the pins that are used for mic and headphones
Any ideas/advice?

That question was answered many times around here, you need just to search...Message Edited by SoNic2367 on 07-25-2006 08:27 PM

  • Headphone and mic sockets on Xtreme mus

Ok so i just installed my Xtreme music card and it went fine, but its the sockets on the sound card im not sure about?I have put my green speaker lead into the right socket (2nd from the left) and i have put my headset mic into the first socket and they both work great. The only problem is that i am left with my green?headphone plug/jack?(not sure the tech term) with no where to go other than where my speakers are plugged in?So this means every time i want to listen through my headphones i have to go to the back of my comp and swap the speaker and headphone jacks!
Am i missing something can someone please tell me a way to change from speaker to headphones without doing this?

The Black Cable is the one with the 0 pin connector that connects to the card. The other one is a cable running from the TAD connector to the 56K Modem card (internet) which i don't use. I just reattached it so it would't be hanging loose inside. Your motherboard is the biggest thing you will see inside the case. You will see the PCI slots where your video, sound, modem cards are seated. If you are uncomfortable opening your PC don't. If you want to have a looksee, power down your PC remove all cables attached including the power cord. Press the power switch momentarially to discharge the system. Open up the case and touch a metal part first to ground yourself. Piece of cake. If you have your user manual consult that first.

  • Connect Headphone and mic

In order to use Google phone, I want to purchase a combination mic. and headphone to connect to my mac mini, but I can't figure out how to connect to the mini. Will it connect into a usb connection or is there jack receptical to include the mic. Thank you.

RJ and Omug:  Thank you for your helpful response.
However, I have found on line a USB adapter that will accept the mic and headphone combination with two individual jacks.  Will the a headphone and mic with two individual 3.5 mm jacks work on my mac mini by using the USB adapter with a powered USB hub?  There seems to be more selection at a lower price with the two individual jacks and the adapter rather than the usb connected headphone/mic.

  • Can't get Headphone and Mic to work with Skype

Hello, I have a 3 year old Macbook Pro and I am running OS 10.8.3. I am trying to get my USB headphone and mic to work with Skype but I'm not having any success. I have tried several different headphones with the same result. I finally phoned Skype support and they told me that there are some registry settings that are corrupted and that they could install the proper ones on my MBP for $149.99. I told them I did not want to spend that kind of money but I am curious if anybody else is having that issue and if anybody has a solution. Is it true that my registry values could be corrupted causing this issue. If I start up Parallels and open Skype in Windows 7 I have no issues whatsoever using the headphone. It works every time but I cannot get it to work on the Mac platform. I would appreciate any advice anybody might have. Many thanks in advance.

What are the system requirements of your headphones & mics?  It's possible they are not compatible w/Macs and/or your current OS system.

  • How come when I change my sound on my IPod Touch, it says I am connected to headphones, and no sound comes out

I click the button to change the sound, and it says I'm connected to headphones, when I'm not, and when I play something, there's no sound, and my Bluetooth is also turned off. I don't know how to get sound!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

  • MSI 975X motherboard-how connect front audio and mic connection to mobo?

My case has separate connections (not a single molded) plug for Mic and Headset.
Can someone tell me the connections by colored wire perhaps to best connect the various leads to the JAUD1 connection?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter
You might be lucky and discover that someone has the exact same case as you, so they would then be able to tell you the wire colours (If you tell us the make and model of your case). Far as I know, there is no set rule to the colour coding, but you should see a label on the actual wire connector (yes, they are not exactly big, but they do have a label usually!) The manual tells you what each individual pin of JAUD1 is for. The negative wire of each set is usually slightly thicker than the positive. This is all similar to JFP1 and JFP2, for the power switch etc, so I assume you have already developed paper-thin fingers in order to handle these connections
Here is Intel's descriptions of the pins:-
For Intel High Definition Front Panel Audio
    Pin  Signal Name      Description
1    PORT 1L               Analog Port 1 - left channel (Microphone)
    2    GND                    Ground
3    PORT 1R              Analog Port 1 - right channel (Microphone)
4    PRESENCE#          Active low signal that signals BIOS that an Intel® HD Audio dongle is
connected to the analog header. PRESENCE# = 0 when an Intel
                                   HD Audio dongle is connected
5    PORT 2R               Analog Port 2 - right channel (Headphone)
6    SENSE1_RETURN    Jack detection return for front panel (JACK1)
7    SENSE_SEND         Jack detection sense line from the Intel HD Audio CODEC jack
                                    detection resistor network
    8    KEY                     Connector key
9    PORT 2L                Analog Port 2 - left channel (Headphone)
10   SENSE2_RETURN    Jack detection return for front panel (JACK2)

  • Headphone and mic jacks do not work

I disabled the onboard audio drivers to install an Audigy 2ZS board in my new Dimension 900. Now the Dell factory installed mic and headphone jacks on the front of the computer do not work. I'm assuming thats because I disabled the onboard drivers? Any way to get them working with the 2ZS card? I understand that the mic and headphone jacks have cables that can be hooked to a card. Does the 2ZS support this kind of hookup?
    Thanks

    Hey everyone
It's very possible to connect your front jacks to Audigy. I'm currently using my headphones that way.
    Here is what you do:
. On top you audigy card
    <IMG src="http://images0.fotki.com/v203/photos//2786/2503093/CreativeAudigy2ZS-vi.jpg">
    2. Audigy pin assignments (connect you front panel cable to things marked in red)
    AUDIGY FRONT PANEL CONNECTIONS======================================= =========================
    - Analog Ground< 2 - Headphone Out (Left) 3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- mute (ground) the backpanel when using headphones< 4 - Headphone Out (Right) 5 - same as #3< 6 - Mic Input 7 - key pin (shouldn't be there) 8 - VREF out -- voltage reference for Mic 9 - MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +2VDC when mic is plugged in0 - Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in (not used)
I'm still working out the kinks. For instance, if you've ever had an Audigy Dri've (comes with Platinum and Pro version of Audigy), you know that when you plug in headphones, sound to speakers mutes and Creative Speaker Settings panel automatically switches to "Headphones". That was nice. I don't know if it's possible this way.
    Enjoy,
    Igor

  • Headphones and Mic do not work with Vi

I have a Soundblaster Audigy 4, and am using Windows Vista. The Creative Audio Console recognizes that I have a mic and headphones plugged in, but they do not work at all. Switching the audio output from speakers to headphones merely causes the volume to raise to 00%, but the sound still comes through my speakers. Any help out there?

  • Connecting 2 headphones and 1 pair of speakers?

    Hi!
I have a pc with win7 and own this soundcard:?http://se.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=208&product=6559
and today I wanted to connect both of my headphones so I didn't have to switch between them when I'm recording vocals or mixing.
So I connected my mixing headphones to the main headphone out on the front panel
Connected my speakers to the line out ?
Connected my tracking headphones to line out 2
The problem is that it doesn't output any sound on my tracking headphones!
Shouldn't sound come out from the Rear L/R channel now?
That's what I want because the tracking headphones bleeds a lot so I want the to be able to easily mute and control it's volume.
I've managed to get sound out of the tracking headphones by activating the Rear L/R Bus Routing on the Front L/R Channel. But by doing that the volume?doubles in my mixing headphones, not good.
I just wan't to add my tracking headphones to my setup, how hard can that be? Especially when there's 4 different stereo line outs...

Gonna bump this a bit, I didn't get a good solution to my problem.
Anyone uses a 4.0 - 5.-system or similar with this soundcard? Are you able to control the rear speakers with the rear L/R fader?

  • IPhone keeps saying it is connected to headphones and it is not

My new Iphone keeps saying the headphones are connected so I can not talk on the phone with it up to my ear.  And none of the buttons make any sounds when Iam texting.  I tried to reboot it, and restored with my old Iphone on Itunes.  Is there something I am missing or is it just not working?

    you can try a restore
it does sound like a hardware issue so if that doesn't work then just return it (DOA) and get a new one

    Hi @mcmanus90
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I saw your post regarding the problem using the iPhone earphones. Try setting them as the default recording device. This third-party link will show you how to do it. Now it is for Windows 7 but if you search for Control Panel from your tile page and go to Sound it will be the same from there.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" on the right to say “Thanks” for helping!
