Connecting Casio ctk 900 music keyboard to macbook, garageband 3 can I ?

Connecting Casio Ctk 900 music keyboard to macbook, garageband 3 can I ?
Can I? Are they compatible???
I can connect to windows but this is not much help.
I hope someone with Casio Keyboard and Mac reads this!!
Thanks

You can record the audio output of the keyboard - i.e. its own sounds - by plugging the output to the line in of your Mac (if it has one) or to a suitable audio-USB interface.
You can use the keyboard to drive GarageBand - using GB's own sounds - by plugging the MIDI output (a round socket with five smaller sockets within it in a semicircle) into a suitable MIDI-SUB interface.
This keyboard, according to the published specs, does not have a USB connection so the problems about compatibility do not arise. (Casio keyboards with a USB connection for MIDI notoriously don't work with Macs). The incompatibility mentioned in the previous post concerns the transfer of programs and MIDI files to the keyboard rather than using the keyboard as a MIDI source.
There are a number of suitable interfaces around, such as those made by Edirol.

I'm trying to connect my Casio CTK-4200 to my Macbook but when i plug in the usb cable to my computer and keyboard, garageband is not recognizing it. I checked the manual and it says that it's compatible with mac. What am i doing wrong?

I've been is a similar exasperating situation for three months. Similar to your case, I use my Macbook with an HP digital light projector, but the SB21 model.
Please refer to this thread for a solution which worked for me: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1731505&tstart=0.
I hope it works for you, too. Goodluck.

What is "the midi to USB cable"? If it is a working midi interface, you can plug any midi capable keyboard into it.

  • How can i transfer music from my macbook to my iphone without my music library contents are all erased?

i've been trying to transfer music from my macbook to my iphone but it deletes all the music i have on my iphone then adds the music from the macbook what can i do so i ADD music to my iphone without having anything deleted!

    The answer is, "you don't".
Music other than that purchased from the iTunes store had to be synced to the device using iTunes on a computer. The media should still exist on that computer. She can use the computer to sync the music to the new device.
An iPad or iPhone is NOT a backup device. In order to set it up to sync to a new computer were she to replace hers, the media on the device would have to be erased before anything could be synced to it. Media synced to the device can not be synced back to a computer (without purchasing 3rd party software). Without a computer and iTunes, it's not possible to transfer media from one iDevice to another, even with 3rd party software.

  • MacBook Air can't connect to WiFi; iPhone, iPad can

I'm a pretty experienced Mac and WiFi user, but this one has me stumped.
I was recently waiting for my car to be serviced and tried to connect to the dealer's free WiFi network (Sonic via ATT broadband).  My iPhone 4s and my iPad3 had no problem signing-in to Sonic (OK'ing the terms) and accessing the internet, but I could not connect using my MacBook Air (model 4.2). I tried a number of things (e.g., refreshing the DHCP address, turning wifi off/on, etc.) - none worked.
The person at the dealership said, "Macs seem to have a probelm connecting."
FWIW, I have no problem connecting to my home, my work, and other WiFi networks on any of these devices.
Any ideas about why my iPhone and iPad can connect to the Sonic WiFi and my MacBook Air can't?

  • Connecting Korg Keyboard to Macbook Pro

Hi there guys. I've recently bought a Macbook Pro and subsequently bought Logic Pro 9 with the intention of recording a variety of music.
I may sound like a plonker - but would love to know what cable I would need to buy to connect my Korg X50 to the MBP. Can I buy a usb cable that would connect the 2? I'm pretty sure there wasn't a cable with the keyboard...
I'm completely new to the Mac and Logic world - so little words with few syllables please folks! :O)
Thanks for taking the time to look at my post.
    Cheers
    Ben

    Ben...
I purchased a Macbook Pro and Logic Pro software about a year ago (Logic Pro version 8 was the latest at the time) in order to record some original ballads that I had arranged and composed using a Yamaha Clavinova CVP-307M. There are two different elements to recording when starting from a piano / keyboard / synthesizer.
One element is the actual musical note information, the specific notes that you are playing with your hands on the piano / keyboard. This musical note information is able to be captured by the computer in real-time while you are playing the piano for purposes of having the computer use your Korg X50 to playback the song at a later time. This scenario of playing back musical note information uses the MIDI standards that date back to the early 1980's.
Another element is the actual sound that the Korg X50 can generate using the sounds that are built into the Korg X50. You can get a computer to record the actual sound being generated by the Korg X50 as well.
I will explain the physical connections for both scenarios:
For starters, you will need to purchase an external audio device that will add some additional connections to your Macbook Pro. This device will create the MIDI connections to and from your Korg X50, and the same device will also have audio input jacks in order to capture the sound being generated by the Korg X50. This device will connect to your Macbook Pro using either a Firewire or a USB connection. The Macbook Pro comes with a Firewire 800 port which is different from the older Firewire 400 port. The audio device you purchase may require Firewire 400 and not 800, so you will have to purchase an Express Card in order for your Macbook to have a Firewire 400 port to connect to the audio device you'd be getting. ( I had to get an express card for firewire 400 in order to connect my audio device I purchased from M-Audio, model Firewire 410). The Firewire 400 express card would slide into the small, rectangular slot located on the left side of the Macbook.
Once you have purchased and connected the audio device to your Macbook, you will have two, round 5-pin DIN connectors on the audio device and the back of your Korg. These 5-pin, round connectors are the MIDI in and out connections, and these will be used to send and receive musical note information between the Korg and the Macbook. You would purchase two 5-pin MIDI cables at your desired cable length; typically a MIDI cable is available up to 15 feet in length.
To have the computer record the actual sound coming from the Korg, you would simply connect a quarter-inch audio cable from the Korg output(s) to the quarter-inch audio input jack on the audio device connected via USB or Firewire on the Macbook. If you only connect the Left audio out to the computer, you can use the Logic software to capture the sound in stereo in order for the finished recording to have the sound on both the left and right speakers.

  • Casio CTK-720 Keyboard

I have a  Casio CTK-720 Keyboard and Mac OSX 10.8, and I'm trying to use my keyboard with Sibeius (a music writing program).  Casio says it doesn't support Mac with their drivers so I tried to look around online to see what I could find.  Alas, I tried using a 3rd-party driver (more info here http://code.google.com/p/casiousbmididriver/), but it didn't work.  I had a similar problem on my Windows Machine (as Casio doesn't support 64-bit drivers on Windows), and found that I could download a Roland Driver, change some ID numbers, and it would work fine.  I was wondering if I could do that on a Mac.
    Any ideas?

Just did it today. Hooked up CTK-720 to Imac with Snow Leopard (10.2.6) using GarageBand.
Steps: 1) Go to : http://code.google.com/p/casiousbmididriver/ 2) Download the CasioUSBMIDIDriver.plugin (see the two choices on the right side of screen) 3) Place the CasioUSBMIDIDriver.Plugin file into the MIDI Driver subfolder: Macintosh HD => Library => Audio => MIDI Drivers 4) Restart 5) Plug in USB cable, open GarageBand, turn on Casio 6) In GraarageBand Open New Project, Start by using Piano, Select Keyboard (command K) in the Window menu 7) You should see the keyboard being played on the screen.
    PS: Thank you Francois Ferland.

  • Macbook pro 15" mid 2010 i spilled water on keyboard now it wont power on if the battery is connected and the keys on keyboard doesnt work it works fine with no battery and external keyboard if i order a battery and new keyboard will every else work again

macbook pro 15" mid 2010 i spilled water on keyboard now it wont power on if the battery is connected and the keys on keyboard doesnt work it works fine with no battery and external keyboard if i order a battery and new keyboard will every else work again lik it did before

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

  • How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver. I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. thanks

How can I play music on my macbook pro (OSX Lion) through a Pioneer receiver? I've connected them with a mini display port to HDMI cable with audio support bought at the Apple Store, but there's no sound coming through. There are 4 HDMI-in ports on the receiver - BD, DVD, DVR/BDR and audio. In my system preferences for sound, the receiver doesn't show up as an output option. Can anyone please advise. (ps, this is my first time posting a question, so I hope I can find your answers!) thanks, JP downunder

For sound, try the audio output port and connecting to the RCA  audio input ports on your Pioneer receiver.  Use something like this:

  • Musical keyboard connection assistance.

Would anyone know how to receive sound from a musical keyboard, with the connection of an AUX cord? I have the required 1/8" adapter for my laptop and the aux cord for the keyboard port, yet no sound from either source. My laptop is acting as though it is connected with headphones and vice versa from my laptop.

if your laptop has only a single jack for input and output, you need to select which it is used for in System Prefs
