  • Connecting Ethernet Macs & printer with wireless network?

I have a small LAN (500MHz Cube, iMAC, Tally T8016 Laser Printer) handled by a Belkin 4-port router, connected to a cable modem.
I would like to incorporate a new Mac mini, a MacBook and an AirportExtreme Base Station but have some problems. Connecting the AEBS to the cable modem via WAN and the router via LAN works half way. All 4 computers connect to the Internet without problems and the 2 Mac's connected to the router can use the printer, but the wireless ones don't recognize it. What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way to incorporate all 6 units (4 MAc's, printer and AEBS)?

Hmm .. it didn't work. When I remove NAT & DHCP I loose immediately all Internet connections on the 2 computers connected to the Belkin router.
    I have now tried to
    1. Shut down all computers, router, modem and AEBS.
    2. Hard reset AEBS - wait 2 hours.
    3. Connect Macmini to AEBS via Ethernet cable (LAN) and start up fresh. Internet connection works.
    4. Remove Ethernet and establish wireless connection - Internet connection works.
    5. Connect LAN output on AEBS to Belkin WAN input - [Belkin is still set to "no" NAT & DHCP].
    6. Start Cube (connected to Belkin) and printer (connected to Belkin) - still no Internet connection and printer invisible to Macmini.
I guess I have to try Option #2 now, that is, connect the Belkin router to the cable modem, use 1 port to connect to the AEBS and disable the "distribute" option on the AEBS, and use the router ports to connect the Cube and printer.

  • Problems Connecting Computer & Printer Via Wireless

I've recently just bought a HP Deskjet 2544 printer. I've installed the printer as per all the instructions, however when i tried to install this via the wireless it could not find the computer even though it was connected to the wireless in the house. Because of this problem, I was able to install via the USB cable.
Since installing I can print only via the USB cable. I've went back and tried to connect the computer and the printer via wireless and everything is telling me they are connected (i've ran a systems report and all the lights are on, on the printer), however I keep getting the same messafe "unable to connect to your computer".
Any ideas how to fix this, so that I can print wirelessley?
    Thanks

  • Connecting to printer via wireless network

I have a hp photosmart 7760 connected to my main PC, which is connected to my home network.  That PC is running Windows XP.  I just bought a new laptop running vista 64 bit.
When I try to connect, it tells me I do not have the correct driver installed.  I downloaded and installed the vista 64 bit driver from the internet but it still doesn't work.
What's work?????     Now I'm wondering if I have to install that driver on my main PC....and if so, will that mess up my ability to print from that PC?
Many thanks to anyone that can help me.

  • I suddenly can't connect to printer on wireless home network.

I have an Officjet Pro L7680 and we just had a new cable company installation in our house. We have 1 desktop and 2 laptops. All three share this printer and we had no problems. Since the install, 1 laptop won't connect to the printer. The cable co. tech support was not able or willing to help, saying it's not their fault. I get a message that the printer is offline, when the other computers have no problem printing.

On the problem computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and delete all instances of the printer.
Next, print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer (Network menu).  Note the printer's IP address.
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

  • I am having problem with trying to install the printer with wireless connection.i have windows 7

the blue light on top of the printer blinks very fast and intermitenly.  i cannot install the printer with wireless.  I tried with the CD that came with the printer but the green install bar just stops and freezes.  I have a 4 month old Dell laptop.  Printer just purchased from HP is Laser Jet Professional P1102w.

Are there any third party firewalls installed (e.g. Kaspersky, Norton, BitDefender, etc.)?  It sounds like something is blocking the software and third party firewalls have been known to block communication with the printer.
How far in the installation process do you get (what options are you able to get to)?
Is the USB cable connected at the start of the installation?
Do you receive any errors at all?  If so, what are they?
Have you tried using Smart Install?  Smart Install works by connecting the USB cable to the computer.  By default, you should get a prompt to run a file.  Running this file starts the Smart Install process.
This video is a good guide to Smart Install.

  • Impossible connecting with wireless network Netgear WNR 2000

I can not log on to my wireless network (Netgear WNR 2000) with my macbook. My other PC:s work fine and connect always. My Macbook only connect after I have restarted the router. When I use my Macbook in other places I can connect with wireless network. What is the problem?

I'm assuming that you're using the right network password!  After that, the most common causes of difficulty are:
    - The router not set up for DHCP and so cannot allocate an IP address to the MacBook
    - The router has "MAC" Address Authentication (a security feature - don't mistake MAC for Mac[intosh]) turned on and the AirPort MAC address isn't in the pass list.
    - The default "Automatic" location in System Preferences > Networks has been modified so that it no longer works.

  • Connecting Printer to Wireless Network

Attempting to connect a printer to a network wireless using WPS to no avail. It appears that the U-Verse Gateway model 3801HGV has the option disabled/idle mode. How to enable the WPS option? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Enable WPS here -http://192.168.1.254/xslt?PAGE=C_2_1
You can press the WPS button there, too.
You will need the gui password on the label on the RG.

  • Deskjet 6988 printer to wireless network (Envy laptop w/ Windows 8.1)

I've had my HP Deskjet 6988 printer for years and always had it connected to my desktop via USB 2.0 cable. I purchased a HP Envy laptop with Windows 8.1 and want to connect the printer via my home network/Belkin router, as the USB 2.0 cable that came with the printer doesn't seem to work in the Envy USB ports for direct printing . The software disk didn't work in the laptop, so I downloaded the software and utility (print and scan) software for 8.1 from the HP website.
I ran the downloads, the setup wizard started, said "The wizard will connect to the internet and help you install the best available software for your printer." I clicked next and a window opens "Discovering device" and then another "Retrieving install device" then...nothing.  The wizard window closes. My setup manual is useless. It tells me to use the wizard on the software disk that doesn't work on my laptop (and is outdated and for the wrong OS anyhow, because it was for my desktop, which ran on VIsta.)
I did somehow manage to get the printer installed on the laptop - I can see it under the available printers.  And if I have an ethernet cord connected directly from the printer to my router, it will print. But if I unplug the ethernet cord, it will not print. I can't keep the ethernet cord plugged in for printing, because the router is in my living room, behind the TV and my office is upstairs. I would rather not keep my printer on the living room floor by our TV, so I really need it to work wirelessly!
My problem is - how do I get the printer added to my home network (Belkin  router). The wireless router is all set up and working - I'm actually using it right now to access the internet and post this message.
So, my printer is installed on my laptop. The driver is the most recent, intalled today from HP.com and I don't have a software disk to use for a setup wizard.
What are the next steps to connect my printer to the network, so I can print wirelessly? Hopefully, I've given enough information. I've read all of the help sections on HP.com customer service and none of them seem to tell me what to do.
    Thank you!

Through a lot of trial and error, I actually figured it out  myself. I did a lot of jumping around, so hopefully I remember everything I did:
    1) Install the printer driver using the disk or download.
    2) Connect the printer to the router using an ethernet cable, which looks like a big phone cord (no need to connect the printer to your laptop.)
    3) Bring up the laptop's system "search" on your laptop and in the search type "Network" then click on "Network" link to open it.
    4) You should see the printer icon listed under your computers and other devices already found on the network.
    5) Double click/tap on the printer icon and it will open the printer's "web page" in your browser.
    6) Click/tap the "Networking" tab near the top of the scren.
    7) In the left sidebar, under "Connections," click "Wireless" to open it.
    8) Start and use the wizard to enter your router information. (Make sure to give the printer a distinct name here, so you can distinguish it from any other printers listed on your laptop. For example,  I named mine "Deskjet 6988 Network")
    9) Unplug the ethernet cord from the printer.
    10) If your wireless printer doesn't show up in the list of printers when you go to print something, you have to add it:
    11) Open the laptop system search again and type "Devices and printers" and click/tap the link.
    12)   Click the "Add a Printer" link near the top. The computer will search for printers and the new networked printer should appear in the list (Hint: it wil have an IP address listed under "Address" column rather than a file.)
    13) Add the networked printer and run the test print to make sure it works. Make it your default printer and can delete any of the other 6988 printers listed if you want to.
    14) You should now see your networked printer in the list of printers when you go to print something.
Hope that helps someone else some day!

  • How to Connect My Printer to The Network

My printer is LaserJet M1212nf.  According to the brief introduction I should connect the printer to the network first in order to enable its e-printing function.  I'm working at home.  I don't share information with other computers.  Does "network" mean my home internet?  Do I need to use either a cable or a USB to connect it to the home internet?  Or is there another way?  Once it is connected, how can I get an email address from HP for my printer?

    Hi,
Your printer can be connected to your network to print but it's not an ePrint printer:
          http://www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/pdf/ce841a.pdf
It has a LAN card, you can connect it to your network and print wirelessly (note: print wirelessly and ePrint are two different things).

  • Can't connect AE to existing wireless network

I can't get my AE to connect to my existing wireless network. I saw the other thread on this and followed those steps, but it didn't work. Here's what I did:
    1. Connected the AE to my D-Link DIR-655 wireless router via ethernet cable.
    2. Opened Airport Utility and established a connection to the AE.
    3. Renamed the AE and entered a password.
    4. In the "wireless" tab, I selected "join existing network", chose my wireless network, selected the security type (WPA Personal) and entered the password.
    5. In the "music" tab, I named the speakers and entered a password.
So far so good. I clicked "update" and the AE restarted. After a while I received an error message informing me that the base station could no longer be detected. According to the directions posted in the other thread, this is actually supposed to be a sign that the AE is now in client mode and all is well.
I unplugged the ethernet cable from the AE and router and then went to the other room. I plugged the AE into the speakers and then plugged the AE into the wall.
However, instead of a green light all I have is a flashing amber light, even after several minutes. No connection.
I reset the AE and repeated the steps above, to no avail. Still a flashing amber light.
    Any ideas?

I'm having a similar issue. My AE is connected directly to a Netgear WGR614v4 router, and I run through all the steps you mentioned. When I choose to update the settings to the AE, I get the same "error" you mentioned about the AE not being found, and I also took that as a sign that I'm in client mode. I moved the AE to the other room, connected my mini cable to the stereo, then plugged the AE back into the wall. The AE runs through its setup and eventually gets a solid green light, so I'm thinking all is well.
The problem is that I then log back into the AirPort Utility on my laptop and the AE is not shown in the top left like it should be. After doing a bit of reading, I've figured out that I can manually find it by going to File>Configure Other and entering the AE's IP address and password. Then I get a window showing the details of the AE, its name, network, encryption, etc. However, if I close this window, it still doesn't show up in the main AirPort Utility screen and I'm not sure how to configure it for AirTunes.
Hoping that's just a bug with the AirPort Utility software, I open up iTunes to see if I can locate it there. I know I should see a pulldown menu at the bottom of iTunes that gives me an option for AE as my audio output method, but the menu is not there. Now I'm completely stuck.
At this point I decide to start from scratch, so I do a Factory Default reset by pressing down the reset button on the AE as I plug it into the wall. Now it is supposedly reset, so I plug it back into my router, then it runs through a setup sequence and lights up solid green before I've even done anything. It shows up in AirPort Utility with a default base station ID, but my computer won't connect to it at all. I'm hoping I can try to reset it again this evening and at least get back to the normal setup screen, but I'm really not sure what I could do differently at this point.
This is frustrating and I'm on the verge of giving up, but I REALLY want this to work out.

  • Help with wireless networking with my Photosmart 6525 on Mac 10.8.5

I have just purchased an HP Photosmart 6525 and cannot get the wireless printing to work. I've followed all of the instructions provided online and printed with the device.
I'm attempting to connect from my Macbook Air running 10.8.5. I've successfully connected the printer to my wireless network - I just printed the wireless network test and it states "No problems found. Congratulations...". Gee thanks...
I've taken the steps of enabling Wireless Direct, and Web Service, ePrint is on. By the way, all of these different options are totally unhelpful - I cannot determine which are actually required to just connect via wi-fi?
I also downloaded and installed the latest driver software from HP. Going through the setup it reaches a point where it tells me to unplug USB (cannot go through it without it connected I learned) so it can configure wireless. Then it tells me it cannot find the device.
I have no option to skip this and although I've run it several times I still don't see the "setup assistant" application that it supposedly installed.
I've seen elsewhere that there is supposed to be the ability to connect directly to the printer via browser, by typing in the IP address. I've verified that the IP address appears valid for my network (192.168.1....) but when I put it into Chrome it cannot find it.
My frustration level is rapidly rising as the documentation and online support for this product is incredibly disjointed and unhelpful. I've searched online for hours, including this forum. Would appreciate any pointers to more detailed help / instruction before I am forced to return this printer.

    Hi,
Not sure this will ultimately help, but you should update your version from 14.0.0 to 14.1.2. If you can get to the update via Help> Updates... try using the Creative Cloud desktop application found here:
    https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud
You may already have it installed; it can be found in the Applications directory for a default install.

  • Connecting MG3570 printer with multiple MAC books

I connected MG3570 printer with my Mac book wirelessly. Everything fine till my son also connect the printer with his Mac book. My computer can not connect so I started set up again and connect it. Then my son can not connect again. What should we do to be able to connect all Mac books to printer? thanks

You might want to look at this article on troubleshooting Mag Safe adaptors:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1713
Check for things like stuck pins.
Also, be sure that you are not mixing up the MacBook charger (65 watts) with the MacBook Pro charger (85 watts). The MBP charger should be able to charge the MB, but not the other way around.
If the charger is good and the battery and its connections are good, then it is possible that the Left I/O Board (which contains the power port) is bad.
For the battery to charge, three things have to be working--the charger, the battery, and the Left I/O Board. If you have access to an Apple Store, the genius bar should be able to try a known good battery and a known good power adaptor and be able to pinpoint what is really at fault.
    Good luck!
